[Q] Stock Lollipop firmware complete factory reset? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

A friend of mine has a Verizon GS4 and is trying to run the OTA update, but for some reason his device status is Custom so the update won't go through. He's fine doing a factory reset. Are the Lollipop files available yet, and, if so, is it possible to flash them without being rooted or having any recovery installed whatsoever?
Basically, can a Verizon GS4 have 100% stock Lollipop flashed over an existing 4.4.2 installation without custom anything?

lollipop files aren't even out yet, nobody captured the ota
best to probably odin back to a 4.4.2 ROM so you can start off clean

Trying to flash new roms but they want you back to stock and upgraded via OTA to JB. I had backed up my phone prior to Snow JB but after restoring stock ICS, I am told that the update is unavailable. Can it tell somehow that I had flashed a custom rom and is now blocking me from updating? Looking to try all those new 4.2 and 4.1 roms and they all want you to start from a stock updated phone.

First prerequisite is you will need to re-lock the bootloader to get the OTA update.
The weirdness, however, is that at least up till now, the OTA JB update will only work from the 11c version. Apparently for the past few months the 11c update was not presented by the update servers, because most of us who got our phones recently with 10o were never offered the upgrade; then on Easter they "turned on" the 11c" updates again. But then once JB was out, it seems they only made 20j available by default, so if you had 10o (not sure if this is the one you have or not), you were stuck and unable to get 20j. Some people have been reportedly re-offered 11c but I'm not sure if this means it's being made available again on a widespread basis. Seems kind of weird that the update server can only make one version available at a time, or that they couldn't make a universal update that would work starting with either version.
To get past this, you can call up at&t (or live chat with them) and ask them to push the 11c update to your phone. Then after installing that update, it should be offered the jb update automatically shortly thereafter. Or, use lgnpst with the full stock jb image.
There seems to be some other error with phones not being registered properly in at&t's update system and they are getting an error that at&t should be able to fix.
But to confuse you even more - I believe that someone has taken the essential parts (trustzone stuff) of the stock JB rom and made a mini-image you can flash with LGNPST instead of doing the full stock jb update, so it's a lot quicker if you're not aiming for full stock JB anyway. See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2229568
Once you have done either method once, you don't need to do it again.

Search on lgnpst or go to the #lg-optimus-g irc channel for a full guide.
Short version: install lgnpst on windows machine, download 11c tot, factory reset in recovery (jb and ICS aren't compatible), power off phone, enter download mode, start lgnpst on computer, select ls970.DLL and 11c.bin
I have lgnpst 1.1.3 ...it wont recognize my phone at all. I used freegee to unlock my bootloader so I'm rooted also. My HUGE problem is I can't flash any 4.2 ROMS because I'm not recognized on lgnpst and I cant finish installing the at&t update because my bootloader is unlocked...I'm not sure what to do at this point. I'm stuck with the older ROMS!! =/

OTA update keeps failing

I am working my wife's Note 2 that is running 4.1.2 VRAMC3, I had rooted it and loaded TWRP on it, then she started getting prompts for the OTA for 4.3 the update keeps failing when trying to run it in TWRP, clockworkmod recovery, and i tried using Odin to restore stock recovery and it keeps failing, what are my options to get the OTA without wiping her starting fresh with her phone, my wife doesnt care about modding the phone, I only rooted it for just one app and now we dont need it anymore.
May I suggest ditching the OTA and flashing the OTA sans locked bootloader image found in the development forum? You get the latest & greatest without losing your unlocked bootloader or root.
To your question of upgrading without data loss: it looks like you are stuck with having to do a fresh install no matter which route you take: flashing a bootloader-free version will require a clean install and installing the locked bootloader version will require the Verizon Software Update application on your computer, which will do the same.
Three options.
Disable SDM 1.0 That is the update program. It will stop bugging you and she can stay where she is.
Flash a 4.3 ROM in recovery, that will mean a data wipe.
Follow the thread below to odin back to stock and take the upgrade. You will have a data wipe that way also and you will be bootloader locked probably forever.

[GUIDE][VZW Edition]How to Root/Rom/Return to Stock the VZW Galaxy Note II!

Just got a G3. Have questions.

I just received my G3 today and was working to get it rooted and TWRP installed. I am on 23C and got root and TWRP installed. I'm still on the stock rom and just got prompted for a software update. What is this update (24B)? If I take it, does it get rid of my root and TWRP? Do I need to take this update for some custom roms?
Never accept an OTA with a custom recovery installed. It will hose your device.
I highly recommend moving to a debloated, rooted stock ROM, like Jasmine or Skydragon, if you want to stick with stock at this point. You won't have to worry about the OTA update nagging you, even when Verizon/LG push one.

Stock Andriod Upgrade to Lollipop of Rooted VS985 ..... Confused.

Hi, i am rooted VS985 with king root, installed TWRP and on Stock 4.4.2 and rooted for deleting all pre loaded verizon and amazon apps and did some changes in system folders like hidden menu etc .. all deleted not today when i connected my PC software assistance tool , it says update is available.. see thumbnails
Now, i am confused if i update my rooted device , can i brick my phone?
please someone guide me, should i go for this update or NOT??
If you ran the update through the tool it would fail since you are rooted and don't have stock recovery installed anymore. It's good practice to never update the phone via OTA or tool if you are rooted and/or have a custom recovery installed.
To update to the latest firmware, use twrp to flash the 35B (5.1.1) version of Skydragon, jasminerom, or xdabbeb's in the Verizon G3 android development section. All are stock based ROM's and run great. 5.1.1 has been a godsend for this phone. Much smoother and better battery life.

No Lollipop Update?

Recently just restored my phone to complete stock (with the TOT file and everything) after being rooted and now my phone is stuck on 4.4.2 and no OTAs are coming in. Anybody know why? Thanks!
