Galaxy S3 Deleting google accounts when 2 added - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
So after my droid X shattered i picked up a Galaxy S3 off swappa and i love it. Until now... I have 2 gmail accounts currently. I am phasing one out since it is under a sub domain of gmail. The non -profit i worked for used gmail to handle all customer and technician info and emails. It allowed us to avoid renting a mail server or paying a ton.
Long story short its got a @pinelink ending. The problem is that email address's on gmail with a diff sub domain cannot get a lot of the features and add on's that a std gmail address get. So i created a new email on gmail, synced with old info and have the messages being forwarded to new email.
Problem starts when i try to add both accounts to my S3, If i add one, say the old email. works fine, And all my games and apps recognize the old address so i dont loose everything. When i add the second account, after the setup wizard where it ask's you is it new or existing? address and password, and click add arrow, POOF. Phone drops BOTH emails like they were never even there. If i don't add 2 its fine.
Doesn't matter what order i add them or what i do after. If just immediately says account added, check under accounts and nothing is there.
Any help is appreciated. Also i needed to know if there is a easy way to root the Verizon version yet? i was under the impression Verizon locks the boot-loader.
Specs:
Verizon S3 SCH-I535
Android 4.3
Kernel: 3.0.31-2198062
Unrooted, To scarred to try.

How does the GT & an Android phone mesh with one gmail account?

So I am wondering how my new GT will work with my one google account and my Evo.
For example, when I fist started up the GT it asked if I wanted to sync my google account, which I did. I then noticed that it put a bunch of my existing apps from my Evo onto my GT. So I now assume that any app that I have purchased on Evo in my Google account can be installed on my GT & Evo, is this correct?
Are there any disadvantages to using the same google/gmail account on both my GT and Evo? I would hope that using one account on both devices would mesh well and not cause any issues.
I was then also wondering if I should setup a new google/gmail account and leave my gmail account off just in case I let my wife/daughter use the GT. At first I liked the idea of using one account on both but now maybe not, but then I would have to buy all new apps again?
Guess I am just looking for some opinions/ideas on a good way to use both my Evo and GT together.
Thanks
Using one google account between both of your devices won't cause any problem whatsoever. I've been using the same google account on my phone and my tab (first 7" and now 10.1") for about 6 months without issue.
The Android Market (and Amazon App Store) track by both account and by device. I've managed my Evo and two Tabs under the same Gmail account without any issues.
Its the best way to do it. I have a personal email address "****@zakeen.com" that I send through gmail account and I use the gmail program on all my devices.
I was at the airport waiting for someone to come out and I had my phone there, I was writing an email to someone and the person I was waiting for came out, I just turned my phone off. It saves it automatically in the draft folder and later arriving at the hotel I turned my Tablet on and the email I half wrote was on the top of the Gmail account and I just had to finish the last sentence and send it. Did not have to go back to the same device.
Also I think for the future it will be better, like renting movies and that. I dont know much about it but I am sure it will be linked to account then rather device. So you have access to all your things related to your account for easy syncing.
Its all in the cloud. You could have your singular google account synced across as many devices as you'd like I think. If you go to market.android.com you can choose which device you install apps on.
Thanks for the responses everyone, it def seems best to just use one google account. Unless of course you don't want your significant other to see your emails and gtalk messages. Not that I have anything to hide!
Oh yeah, what about GTalk? Will IMs go to both the phone and GT or is that only one login at a time?
You could definitely have IMs go to both devices simultaneously if you're logged in on both.

[Q] Galaxy 10.1 and exchange accnt

Hello,
I'm having trouble adding my exchange account. I am able to add the account, but then it just stays on loading and shows up blank. during the setup it doesn't ask to allow remote access for the server. The weird thing is, I have a user who hasn't started yet and was able to add their account to the tab correctly but I cannot add my own. That confirms the settings are correct.
I have my exchange account added without issue to my galaxy s phone and am wondering if having the exchange account on two Android devices causes any issues?
Any ideas before I try a factory reset?
Gone a little bit deeper with this. First off, when I add another user's exchange account to my tab, it will prompt with the dialog to say that the server is able to remotely wipe the phone, etc. However, when i try to add my account, it doesn't prompt for it and just goes straight to the settings. After it finishes and i get to the mailbox, i just says loading, stays blank and doesn't show anything, the calendar doesn't sync either.
I have noticed somethign else, when i use outlook web access I can see the phones added to the account (including the tab) but only when i go to OWA light, if i use the regular one it says no devices added...
Is it possible that activesync will only allow one device per user account? Right now I'm planning to delete the account off my galaxy s and try to add again. If that doesn't work i may wipe the 10.1...
Any idea?
Dear,
I had a similar problem, and could not find any information about this. However, by accident, I discovered that it will work only after your remove your google account.
So I suggest that your remove google account and try to add the exchnage account and see if it works.
But if it does, I don't know what to do later on if you like to add it again.
Good luck.
Yeah, there's no such limitation on the Exchange side. About the only screw that could be an issue is a self-signed SSL cert - which likely isn't one, since you said that another user account had succeeded.
It won't be an exch policy on you either, since it is working with with your S.
With that... blow out the other mail things on the tab, and start with exactly the Exch account as st70 suggested.
Gonna try mine now and see what it does with 2 gmail accts already configured.
Thanks for the suggestions so far!
Note, that the other exchange accounts that were added correctly, were added to my tab 10.1 correctly even with the gmail account already there. I am able to add two other exchange accounts however I cannot add mine one.
I removed the gmail account and tried again, did the same thing.
I removed the exchange account from my Galaxy S, went into outlook web access and removed all my devices from there and turned off the phone. Then I reset the galaxy s to factory default and tried again... didn't work...
Went back to the Galaxy S and could add the exchange account again easily... very annoying...
Note that when I add the exchange account, the first difference I notice is that it doesn't prompt to say this device can be controlled remotely by the server, etc but it does when i add the other exchange accounts properly.
Second, when in email, it just says loading and doesn't load. When I go to calendars, my exchange account shows up there, but when i click on it it says
"No Calendar Available".
The worst part of all this is my my boss has an ipad and was able to add his account pretty easily without issue...
Any suggestions?

[Q] Corporate Account on Eclipse ROM

Hey Guys, I was wondering if there were any ideas as to why I am having trouble with my Corporate Sync (Exchange account) on my Droid x2 running Eclipse 2.1.
Everytime I put in my credentials to set up the account, it tells me it cannot connect. I have tried many times and I know I am putting in the right info and I have also had success on other ROMs so I'm wondering if this one is different.
I love this ROM which is why I wanna stick with it! But I need my company email on it.
Thanks!

Does your company use Microsoft Outlook? Outlook and some other email programs have protocols that can be set to redirect emails from that account to another. I had the same problem when trying to link my school email to my phone. Now I have my school emails forwarded to my Gmail account so I can keep up with them.

My company uses outlook and corporate email always worked for me on eclipse. Choose exchange and then you have to have your info from your work. For example my company you had to have the s after https:/ ask your It person and make sure path is correct. I used it on every version of eclipse.
I def had issues way back on Stock where my corporate sync stopped. I eventually purchased enhanced email a while back and that worked where stock didn't.
To prove you have the details correct, you can snag a free email client from the Market and make sure it's okay. This'll prove it's not eclipse per say, but the program it's using.
I know this is a old thread but I ran into the same problem on my x2 running the stock os. The link provided below fixed the issue. You have to create a gmail corporate sync account first and then change the settings to your corporate account settings and then it works
Hope it helps someone else.

Unable to create e:mail account

Hello, I am in England,UK. My fone is jacked up big time. I got it on Thursday, and am unable to create the e:mail account on the fone in the apps section. I can create a G:mail account on it which I don't need through the G:mail thing, but am unable to do so on the e:mail icon.My account is yahoo, and am told because it is yahoo, it is complete competition with google, therefore the fone will absolutely not be able to use yahoo on it. Is this true? if so, then I have wasted 500 quid on a paperweight thats too light to weigh down paper.
I am on Vodafone, and I rang them on Sunday morning, and they told me to change the proxy numbers and the port number. The fone is factory standard, was brand new on Thursday, and is on Andoird 404.
Ask Jack to try this first .

Thanks for the link, however, after trying for the last 15 minutes to try get to work, still no joy. Will installing the new jellybean softwae help when it comes out? It doesn't look like this fone wants to work properly. First Dobby, now this!!
Just use the yahoo app? I used to use yahoo years ago but made the change to Gmail well worth it.

The competition with Yahoo has no bearing on whether Yahoo accounts will work. I just set up a Yahoo account there and it is having no problems sending or receiving mail through the email app. What exactly is happening when you try to set up an account?
Use the yahoo app. My wife uses her yahoo account everyday. No problem sending/receiving emails. What happens when u try to set the account???
Hi, ok, when I go to the create an e:mail screen, I fill in the full e:mail adress, and enter the password, the it has the working circle, checking incoming servers for about 20 secs, then comes up with message box saying,' Username and password incorrect'. Thats it.
I HAVE for the time being signed in using the fone's app, but that is a manual receiving system, I don't want to check IF I have mail, the creating the account thing alerts me when I DO get mail right? So I can go straight to it without having to sign in constantly via the fone's app.
It worked fine from the first time I signed in the my Nokia N900, Nokia E7, HTC HD2, but this Samsung won't do it.
I had the same problem and a few other people. Here's how I got my Yahoo to work on my S3. Log in to your Yahoo account on the computer/laptop. Change the password and save. Now do the same on your phone. It worked for me and the other people who had this same problem.
Good luck
If johnw's fix doesn't work, have you tried setting up an account manually? Presuming you used the automatic set up thing.

Phone and/or Email App hacked

I think that my Hotmail and/or S4 has been hacked. Last Monday I received word that a strange email was sent from my account with a link to skin care or something like that, so I changed my PW. On Friday, I received an email from Outlook that says my account has been compromised and I should change my PW, so I did, again. Sunday night, I'm told that another strange email was from my Hotmail account, so I change my PW again, 3rd time within a week. Each PW wasn't overly hard, but always contained both letters and numbers, so not super easy to crack I wouldn't think. So I started to try to track down the source, I removed email accounts from my phone on Monday (I have the stock email app set to check 2 accounts and have yet to have an issue with the second account). I also noticed in the Hotmail access log that my account was being accessed in 2 other states while all this was going on. So, all was going well and today I set up the email app with my Hotmail account info so I could check my email from my phone. Within 2 hours, my account was accessed from out of state again, but as far as I can tell nothing was sent.
I've read that its pretty simple to send out an email using an account that you don't have access too directly, just set up to use as a sent address, nothing shows up in my sent items so that would support this possibility. It's the account access log that has me worried, they still seem to be accessing my account. I've had AVG on my phone for quite some time now and that doesn't pick up anything, tonight I DL'd Lookout and that also came back as a clear scan.
My phone is still stock, would a factory reset fix the issue? I'd question whether or not a reset would get rid of the keylogger/spyware/malware or whatever is creating this problem. What about rooting and flashing a rom? What else could be causing the issue? I'm afraid that if I close the Hotmail account that there would still be something on my phone that's giving others access to my accounts.
Sorry for the book, T.I.A.

I'm not familiar with Hotmail, but many email providers allow 2-factor authentication. I would definitely suggest using that if it is available to you.
Check the IP addresses on the accesses from other states - do they match your ISP? Sometimes ISPs give out addresses that show up as different states. If Hotmail doesn't show ISP, you can put the IPs into the search at http://bgp.he.net/ and it should show you the ISP.
It is indeed trivial to send email appearing to be 'from' any account without access/relation at all to the account. Unfortunately spammers often take advantage of that and there's not really anything you can do about it.
I did activate the 2 step authentication.
I did track the IP address and then Googled what came back from the search (Cellco Partnership DBA Verizon Wireless) and it appears that this is tied with VZ and the related towers. It just seems weird that at one point it says its being accessed in Minn and the next time in Colo but I'm in So Dak and haven't traveled far from home since all this started.
Regardless, last night another email was sent with my email being used as the sending address. I've decided to close my Hotmail account because of all the hassle. I'm still looking for some advise on whether or not I need to reset the phone or possibly root and flash my phone in order to get rid of anything that might be stored on my phone. Is it worth worrying about or should I just move on?

Can you PM me the full headers of the email that was sent? I should be able to see in them how it's being done -- whether through your actual account, hotmail's servers, or just forging your email as the 'from' address.
You'd have to get them from the person who received it... in gmail it's as simple as clicking the little arrow and then 'Show Original', but the method to show headers will vary by client/provider, should be easy to google though.
About the IPs, it's not unheard of to be assigned IPs from a state or two over. It's obviously not an ideal configuration, no idea why it happens, but it has happened to me several times in the past. But we can't say they were your phone unless you've been keeping track of what external IPs your phone has been getting...
It is a really good sign that they're not some weird server host in russia, etc... though.
It's very common for spammers to forge a sender's email address - they can easily send spam which is "from" you without having any access to your account whatsoever. Some of that spam will get bounced back to you based on the use of your address, not because it was actually sent from your account. The bounced spam should include the headers it was originally sent with, from which one can tell where it really originated.
Are you sure the "out of state" access isn't just legitimate access to the account from your phone? IP addresses are logical, not physical. The geoIP databases which try to map addresses to locations aren't perfect, and your cell carrier may in fact be associating your phone with an IP mapped to a different state.
