Unfortunately there are no settings on this device to disable this, does anyone know a way to change this - like a build prop tweak maybe?

Hi
Has anybody added a hidden SSID to the list of wifi connections that works reliably?
I cannot see the option available when I am adding a new WiFi hotspot and the WiFi application cannot see the network when hidden. For certain other android devices has been reported that the option for a hidden network is there but I cannot see anything in the interface available on our SGIIs.
Its the wireless at work so I have no control over it.
Any ideas?

When i go into settings -> wireless & network -> wifi, i see "add wireless network" at the bottom, then i can add the SSID of any network.
You can add whatever you like there but details of a hidden network are ignored i.e. the scanning that follows fails to connect to the hidden network

ive been wondering about that for a while
the same thing occurs on my SGS 1 so its possibly a OS issue
Hello folks.
I would like to be able to use a wifi tether on my mini pro (SK17).
I am rooted on 4.0.2.A.0.58 and did install the Barnacle WiFi Tether.
If I start the program and want it to tether the log only shows "starting..." on the second and further attempts.
The first attempt (when wifi is enabled) I see on the screen (not in the log) "Disabling wifi manager" and the log shows "Waiting until WiFi is disabled".
If I check wifi, it's already disabled.
Anybody an idea what the problem might be?
Heya.
I don't think you need 3rd party applications nor root to do wifi tethering on the sk17, I don't at least. Not sure all sk17 come with this by default as some carriers may dislike it or not grant access to this menu if your phone is branded but try going to Settings -> Wireless & network settings -> Tethering & portable hotspot. You should find a menu with all you need to share your phone's internet. Setup SSID and password, etc.
Hope this helps.
OH. Thank you for the hint. Sure enough found it...
Cool Does it work or are you having trouble tethering that way too?
I know that many have complained about Wifi issues and I think I recall some acknowledgement from Samsung. What I'm asking here is if there is any information of a root cause and/or fix from Samsung.
What I've been saying to everyone. Go into your router's advanced settings and look for WMM (WiFi Multimedia) or the equivalent and uncheck/disable it. It's called WMM in DLink routers but may be called something else in other routers.
Just Wondering what's wrong with WiFi? I noticed that at work, i get disconnected and reconnect all the time. It doesn't do that at home. Also i noticed the wifi icon is there along with the 1x/3g/4g icon most of the time, is there something wrong with that?
iirc, it's a new option coming with 4.3. Is it any good? I googled it and didn't find a single result about it..
It's said "auto disable Wi-Fi when Wi-Fi Internet connection is failed". My concern is, if it did disable your Wi-Fi.. will it enable it again? Did anyone have tried it?
Thanks.
In my home, i have poor isp connection loosing internet access most of the time. This results in WiFi available and no internet access in my mobile (Nexus 4, Android 4.2.2). Am tired of searching relevant solution "avoid poor connection - under wifi advance settings", with applications and tasker script, If anyone had solution to this kindly help me out. Thanks in advance
even if the answer was simple, let me know! i hope its the right place to raise this question, isn't it?
