[Q] Constant App Crashing - Huawei Ascend Mate 2

Hey I tried looking for an answer to this and couldn't really find one
My phone consistently gives me the "unfortunately the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped" and a bunch of different variants of that with different processes or apps.
I have tried wiping the cache and disabling apps but honestly WTF
I can't figure out why it does this. This happened to be before and a factory reset fixed the issue but this time it seems to be an issue with one of the basic apps I'm installing.
I don't know if anyone has run into this and has some guidance.
Would a fresh stock firmware solve this?

when in doubt, open the settings/apps and clear the cashe of the offending app.

I have cleared the cache of every app and it just doesn't stop. It's the most frustrating thing I've dealt with.
May just buy a new phone at this point....

if it is that bad then reset your phone to factory defaults, also make sure to check the settings so it doesn't automatically install all of your old Apps, so you can install them one at a time to see which one is causing it.

How do I fix the issue once I figure out what app is causing it? Or do I just forever say farewell to the app in question?

Bypassing "app not compatible" blocks in the market

Hey, so I've been trying to figure out a way to download apps that are marked as incompatible for my device without having to constantly find the apks online. The one I'm mostly trying to get is o2jam analog.
I found a method where you change your device identity to a Nexus S in the build.prop, but that ended up not doing a thing for me. Does anyone have any other known working methods?
I am having the same issue...no idea why...i use neutrino 2.1p with clemsyn's kernel...
It's a pain but you can flash a different rom back it up with tibu or whatever you use and restore it.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I have had this issue before and the way I solved this issue was "clearing all data and cache" for Market.
Installing a different ROM didn't fix this and I fixed it by simply clearing all data and cache for the Market app. Then everything was fine after that.
The other possibility is due to a screen resolution. I set that 240 and cleared all data and cache. No issue after that.
Yea my issue isn't apps that are normally compatible but now aren't, but rather apps that were never "compatible" in the first place

[Q] What is causing process.gapps to stop?

For the life of me, I cannot figure out what is causing com.google.process.gapps to stop. I have narrowed it down to it being triggered when it syncs internet data through Accounts and Sync.

I had this issue when i first got my phone; I cleared data in google framework (settings, apps, all)
I also had to clear data in the browser as that would FC gapps every time I used it.

Ok i found out how he did it. You will have to go into the browser settings and clear cache, cookies, passwords etc. Then u have to go to settings - application manager and click on All. Then scroll down to google services framework. Click on it and then clear data. I rebooted afterwords for good measure. I was able to sync internet sucessfully without a force close. But i think this issue is being caused by some random setting that we are setting. If anyone finds out the source of this issue, please post.

The phones don't ship with google processes failing so what are you guys doing to the phone? If you have rooted the phone and tinkered with roms you have to flash the rom then flash the most updated gapps package for your phone or you will get force closes.
Also, you can fix force closing of google processes by booting into CWR and clearing dalvik cache as this forces ICS to rebuild symlinks and other databases for your apks....

My current rom and config is shown in my signature. I am thinking that it starts force closing when i start making changes to default settings in settings menus relating to browser/internet because if I uncheck sync internet from accounts and sync, it will not crash anymore. But when I recheck it, it crashes upon sync. But again, i am not sure which exact setting is causing it. That's all I am doing. I will try clearing dalvik cache and see if it persists. Also, another issue is that i am using TiBackup and freezing google movies and books. When I reboot the phone, they magically re-appear.

It did this error for me right out of the box once I synced my gmail account. Maybe it's something held over from some other phone that I've had?

ok... The plot thickens. lol did you restore ANY google apps using Titanium backup? if you did thats a big no no. Factory reset will probably set you right up. You can also reset dalvik cache as well.

Interesting... you may have some google app settings that are interfereing with ICS from other gingerbread or ICS roms... try factory resetting and then uncheck anything that says restore apps or account settings when setting up your phone and that should eliminate the issue. Report back as I am really curious
No i did not restore gapps with tb. When i do a restore, i do restore missing apps. Being that gapps are preinstalled, it would not restore using this option. I wiped dalvik cache as advised above. Then made changes to browser default settings and it hasnt fc yet.

Bump. Does anyone have a solution for this?
Update: Wiping dalvik cache appears to have permanently solved the problem. However, it still remains a mystery as to what actually caused this.
I disabled "sync internet" in my Google and Samsung accounts and the gapps problem is gone. I don't even know what sync Internet does but my guess is that was the problem.

As i stated in one of my first posts...that i figured out that sync internet triggers the crash. What sync internet does is it syncs favorites and browser settings. I use chrome on my pc, browser on tablet and browser on my phone and sync my favorites across all three.

[Q] Completely remove an app and leave no trace?

Hi folks! Well, I just thought I should stop by and ask cause I can't find anywhere else an answer to my problem.. Here it is:
I have an app that when someone downloads it from the Play Store, recognizes the phone and connects to a server (Internet is needed) so every time I open it I have all my data and my "app activity" shown there. So, here's the thing: I want to sell the phone to a friend of mine, but I don't want (neither does he) to reset to factory because he wants a large amount of the apps I have already intalled and it is part of the price.
So, I ask you: Is there a way to completely remove-uninstall an app and ALL of its data so that there is no way for the app to have MY data displayed (no trace left), and basically the app is "reseted' to factory, so that my friend can use from scratch?
Thanks!
Under application manager select the app you want to "reset" and hit clear cache.

Hey! Thanks for the answer, but I have already tried this and it doesn't work, nor does the deletion of data files of the app in the data\data\[app folder]... Does someone else knows something else I could do?

I have been trying to do something similar. There is a game I downloaded (scarface) and played. I tried clearing cache, uninstalling, even formating internal memory through recovery + flashing a new ROM but when I install the game again my previous game info/data is still there !!! Fuuuuuu :nomegusta:
In your case you can try an app like mybackup or romtoolbox to backup apks to SD. Factory reset/flash new rom. Then use same app to install all the apps back minus data.

I think Titanium backup provides the perfect solution for you. You just have to open the particular application and Select Wipe Data.... It just deletes the data that YOU HAVE SAVED AFTER INSTALLATION OF THE APPLICATION OR GAME.... Hope I Helped....

I am also checking different forums to find a solution to this type of problem. If you have noticed any one of the same , plz let me know.
Try deleting the com.appname folder from root/data/data
ps. will need root permissions for that
i think clear cache and clear data in app manager in settings can reset it.
In your case when you dont want to factory reset and remove all your activity from game server you need to contact game developers tell them your situation and if they are kind enough they will help you.
Well many time game devs don't trust you completely and refuse your request. in this case you need to reset your android device ID Which requires ROOT and an app that Reset your device ID.
Its not the game data on your device its your game activity linked to your Device Activity. Factory reset change the device ID some time so you can backup your apps like many of our friends suggested and factory reset your device than restore apps from back up.
one last thing many game has there data linked to your gmail account as well. :good:

An off-topic question: is it good the free version or is it necessary to buy it? I'm using it (still kinda new on the root thing) and i want to now if it's worth than the free one.
clear cache/data. and removing files from file manager for any hard downloads like images, videos etc...
For anyone still trying to find a different method
Go to settings
Click on "apps" "app manager" or whatever else it might be called on different devices.
Delete cashe & data from desired apps.
Also do it to google play and play games app.
Add a new email and delete the one you had before.
Make sure you log out of all apps before starting the process. Some apps will manege to keep you logged in even after deleting the data.
Dropbox is the app that keeps me logged in even after delete cashe and data.
Having trouble installing an app completely no matter what I do
The apps I'm referring to are Mobile Strike and Game of War. I want to start over with this game but it keeps saving all my data. I don't have a new device so I can't simply start a new account. I've tried encrypting my device and then factory resetting, and even creating a new gmail account, but the data is still there. I have a moto e. Thanks in advanced.
Thank you.
I had tried everything.. but finally this worked.
I dont know why google wants to do this stupid thing. Uninstall should mean complete removal for any app.. why it preserves residues to torment us.
You can also get sdmaid app. It has many useful tools but one is a corpse finder and you can wipe all these leftover residue files using that with a push of a button or set it up to do it on its own. Super awesome app imo! Check it out! One of my personal favorite apps!

Phone Reboots When Updating Apps in Play Store

Hello again.
I'm experiencing a new problem with my phone that is becoming very aggravating because it seemingly occurred when I did nothing unusual or risky with my phone. Every time I update an app in the google play store, my phone locks up and will reboot itself. Sometimes it will remain frozen until I hold down the power button myself. This problem also happens when uninstalling apps and installing apps, but it doesn't do it regularly. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But the phone will always freeze when updating apps. Like I said, I have done nothing risky with the phone. I haven't installed or removed any apps that require superuser access. I haven't downloaded anything to my phone. All I have done is install a few apps here and there from the store, evaluate if I like them or not, and decide if I want to keep them. Recently I haven't been keeping new ones, so I promptly remove them. Out of nowhere this problem shows up when I tried to install another app (thought maybe the app caused it so I got rid of it), and now the updates freeze my phone.
The apps successfully update each time, but immediately after the process finishes, the phone locks up. After rebooting, the updates are saved and the apps aren't corrupt or anything. What can be causing this to happen? Everything on my phone was working flawlessly, and now this problem is seriously hindering the usability of my phone and I don't understand what went wrong.
My phone is the Virgin Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 4G SPH-D710. It is rooted and is running the stock ROM.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there,
Have you tried clearing the cache for Google Play Store in Application manager? Try this first! You could also try (I assume you also have a working CWM recovery or similar?) wiping cache and dalvik in recovery!

I've already wiped the cache, data, and even tried uninstalling updates for Google Play and Google Play services. Made no difference.
As for dalvik, I'm not sure what that means. Any pointers would be helpful!

The dalvik cache will probably be under Advanced in Recovery
zj
I don't have CWM recovery. Sorry I didn't know what you meant when you asked that.
Sorry if bumping or double posting isn't allowed, but I wanted to update this thread.
I think I may have solved the issue. Makes no sense as to why it happened or how it's even related to what I did. I racked my brain for the most recent things I installed on my phone and the only app that came to mind was Cut the Rope. It was the last thing I could remember that installed fine. I removed it and nothing locked up. Then I tried updating one of my apps and presto. No freeze or reboot. Then I installed an app from the play store and it worked perfectly. Did it multiple times with no error. I feel like Android is so temperamental that if I even look at it wrong something will break. -_- I don't know. Maybe being rooted has something to do with it, but my guts don't want to believe it.
I'll put "solved" in the title once I keep using my phone and make sure it's working correctly. If so, I suppose the moral to this problem is just uninstall anything recent from your phone if you experience similar issues. Wish I could know the technical cause though.

Severely Delayed Notifications

Hi, I have a Pixel XL on Verizon running the latest stock firmware (v7.1.2). I have a problem with my notifications taking hours or sometimes over a day to show. This includes apps like Gmail, Outlook, Instagram, Slack, and even things like Dominos. The issue is present regardless of my connection, whether I am on Wifi or LTE makes no difference.
I've read other posts and disabled the battery saving options for these apps, but the problem is still there.
Is there something I can reset or clear a cache, or anything to fix the notification system?

I cleared the cache for all apps by going to Settings > Storage > Cached Data and that resolved the problem for about a week. Now the problem is back and I'll need to clear it again soon.
