yea I got to it and flashed it and it woudlnt restart. then somehow later i was able to get to it again but the installed stopped.

If there is no response after a battery pull, hard brick has occoured...

I was able to get into download mode after letting the phone sit for a while. I flashed with Odin and phone completed flash and rebooted. On the reboot the android popped up and the blue status bar went through and completed. Odin said 1 sucessful/0 failed. Now nothing happens. Does it need to be repartitioned? If so where can I get the file?

I am afraid that you will need a FULL Wipe and Repartition...
For Nc5:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735172
That is what I used for my friend. He would get the sammy logo and a black screen. I had to pull the battery and back in to get into download mode... If that does not work.. I don't think anything can help. Someone more experience may be able to say if Jtag works, but I have never had the need for it...

[Q] Broken recovery, bad kernel, and id10t error

Last week I flashed LD3 for my Galaxy S2 i777. Today I was going to flash CM9. Every time I tried to boot into recovery it just started the phone.
I figured I could use mobile odin to flash a new kernel and it would fix it. Like an idiot I used a Gingerbread kernel on my phone running an ICS rom. So of course my phone froze on the "Galaxy S2" screen.
I couldn't boot into recovery and freaked out because I couldn't boot into dl either. I ordered a jig but kept fiddling in the meantime. I found that if I hook my phone to the USB, wait for the battery charging icon, take the battery out, then hold the down button it would boot into dl mode. Then I had to put the battery back in before I clicked continue or else it just reset.
Ok, so got into DL mode. I grabbed the stock rom and kernel from XDA site and flashed them with Odin. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1286432 (can't post links yet).
The phone starts and setup mode begins. It shows the android figure and says click it. Now all kinds of errors pop up telling me different google services weren't working and force close. When you click the android figure it goes to setup wizard screen but nothing happens (except more android service errors).
Can someone help me out here? I've been at it 5 hours and searched this forum high and low. My thought is there are some ICS elements left behind in there it is trying to load, but I could be way off.
I still can't boot into recovery mode, just DL.

Did you do a full wipe before flashing the stock rom and kernel?
I did not do a full wipe. How can I go about that without logging into recovery? I'm googling that now but if you have linkage I would appreciate it.

dont need to wipe when using Odin/Heimdall.
To OP:
there is only factory recovery, no CWM, you could always just flash a kernal from the DEV section, get CWM, flash CM9.
If I flash another kernel wouldn't I still have the same problem? I'll go ahead and give it a shot. Any you recommend for any reason or other?

So let me get the straight...you're on unrooted stock right now? If that's true, you should:
1. Do a factory reset from settings.
2. Use Odin to flash the Stock with Root package.
3. Use Mobile Odin to flash either Entropy's DD or Siyah.
4. Use CWM to flash what you want after that.

recovery is in kernal. If you flash a kernal from the DEV section you'll get CWM recovery, then you can flash your CM9 that you wanted, after a wipe data/factory reset.

Yes, but if he flashes said kernel with Odin, it'll trip his flash counter. I'm just telling him the safe way to do it, Mobile Odin.
I've already tripped my counter. I have a jig that will be here tomorrow so I can use it to reset the counter.
I can't use mobile odin because I can't log into my phone. I can only use desktop Odin.
All the files I am digging up look like .zip made for cwm. Could someone help guide me towards a kernel I can flash from desktop?

Either Entropy's DD or Siyah. You can open the zip and extract the zimage; the zimage is the kernel.
I just tried using Syiah:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1367800&highlight=cf-root
I still get this message:
"The process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. please try again"
I can't get past the setup screen.
And I still can't access recovery.

Flash the return to stock package from Odin again. Something must have gone wrong with it the first time.
well thats wierd. Sorry man but are you doing it right?
vol down and power. hold it untill the screen flashes twice.
I flashed stock 3 times now. I couldn't get into recovery before this (manually or with rom manager) and still can't. It starts like its going into recovery then just resets and loads normally.
Down is for dl mode, up is recovery.
I think the lack of ability to boot into recovery and the android service errors may be related.

Forget recovery. You shouldn't be worrying about recovery until after you get your phone booting.
New thought: maybe your download of the stock package is corrupted. Try to download it on your computer again. Download the one with root. If that fixes it, you can go use Mobile Odin to flash the Siyah kernel.
To get into recovery hold down both volume up, volume down, and power button and don't let go until recovery comes up.

I have been using the rooted. The fully stock won't dl. This started because I flashed a gb kernel instead of ics. Maybe I should try flashing an ics kernel instead of stock gb?

Bricked! Only booting to downloading mode!

I updated my phone to me7 and I followed a root procedure. After I used goo manager to install twrp and clicked reboot recovery but when it rebooted it went into downloading mode and won't let me boot normally! It says on the top could not do normal boot. Please help!!!
Yeah mine is doing the same thing. Not really sure what's going on, heh.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
**EDIT**
Nevermind...now when I reboot it goes into the OS like normal. Thanks again, man.
You cant install a custom recovery on the me7 ota. Theres a ton of posts on this already. To get past that turn your phone off and use the button combo for booting into odin(vol down + power). Itll ask if you want to proceed or cancel, hit cancel and your phone will boot. To fix you will either need to flash a stock recovery or use odin and reflash me7.

Verizon Galaxy S4 SCH-I545 Soft Brick

I am having an issue that I was hoping someone could assist with. I have rooted devices before, galaxy s3, motorola droid x, and the original droid and have never had any issues.
I had the verizon model I545 galaxy s4 and MJ7 build. I used saferoot to obtain root and safestrap 3.71. I also installed ODIN 3.07. I was able to boot into recovery mode just fine, create a new ROM slot and install RLS14. My wifi would not work until I also used safestrap to install jfltevzw-MJ7-modules. At this point everything worked fine. No issues for 4 days and was loving the ROM. I could use safestrap to reboot to recovery no problem. But then I let it lose power.
Upon plugging it into a charger I found that it would just show the empty battery sign and then reset and show that symbol again. I was unable to get it to boot properly. I used the volume up key and saw the blue text "booting recovery" but then it just power cycled and came back to the empty battery sign again. I tried all combinations I could think of but couldn't get anything to work. I was however able to use the down volume button to get it into odin mode so decided to flash emergency stock recovery.
I then used ODIN to install the stock ROM (SCH-I545_VZW_1_20131023084910_v4vth34m5z_fac.zip) and the install finished correctly but I am still having the same issue. should i re-partition as well? I have the relevant .PIT file.
I verified all checksums on my downloads before using.
Any thoughts? I'm not sure what to do next because I was assuming the factory wipe would work. I can provide any other information.
You shouldn't be installing a zip with Odin. Just search "mj7 full wipe image". It's a .tar file. Flash that in Odin and it will take you back to stock mj7

Sorry. I should have been more clear. The .zip was the file I downloaded but I unpacked it and used the .tar.md5 file to actually flash in Odin. I used the download from this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2507253
I believe I did it correctly as it succeeds and shows "pass" after the flash but I see no change with my issue: still wont boot into recovery mode. Keeps looping back to an empty battery sign.
In addition I swapped out my battery for a known working battery with full charge and it still performs the same. It's weird that I cannot even get the device to turn on using power button with a full charge battery. The only way to turn on is to connect the usb cable and then it still shows the empty battery sign even though it should be full.
I also tried using Kies to upgrade to the latest firmware and after reset same issue.

make sure HD download was good...md5 checksum.....deleted rom slot and start over and choose minimal options. Many get in trouble with choosing too many options. Go minimal and see if that helps.

I did the md5 checks and they matched. After letting the phone sit overnight the recovery menu is now accessible. Tried factory reset/data wipe and cache wipe but same issue. I see recovery has options to update via external sd. Since Odin flashing to stock doesn't seem to work can I put the stock .tar on external sd card and load it from recovery?
The problem is that safestrap won't even boot to allow me to delete the rom slot. It just boot loops back to an empty power sign. I do have access to download mode and stock recover menu. I used download mode and Odin to flash back to stock mj7 build with no change.
Also. The power button issue is strange, it seems weird that I cannot turn it on via power button even though it has 80% charge. It will only power up when connected to USB computer or a charger

OK, this is a strange problem. You can get to download mode and the stock recovery, but can't get the base ROM to boot. You were able to flash MJ7 without change. So, was that a full-wipe ROM?

Yes. I linked the thread above I used for the full wipe stock MJ7 I flashed via Odin. Also verified the md5 checksum. Another interesting addition. If I go to download mode and just choose to restart phone it actually attempts to boot (gets to the samsung symbol with the blue circle behind it and plays music and gets past that to the white screen) but will immediately reboot back to the empty battery sign.
The Odin flash succeeds with no errors and I'm also able to use the stock recovery to wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache but reboot after that always comes back to the empty battery sign.
If I just let the device sit it will reboot every 15 seconds always returning to empty battery sign unless I force recovery or download mode. It seems like the stock .tar I flashed worked since it is trying to boot into stock but the phone seems to reboot every 15 seconds if I try to let it boot.
I searched the forum pretty heavily and also couldn't find anyone else that had my power button issue. I know the battery has a good charge since I swapped the battery from my wife's s4. Even with this the power button will not turn the phone on. It will only turn on if connected to charger or CPU via USB.

I downloaded 3.09 and tried that this morning. Used ap mode with the MJ7 stock recovery tar and used the i545 PIT file with re-partition checked. Maybe I used the wrong pit file but it flashed successfully with no change. Should I try putting the stock .tar on my ext ad card and use recovery to apply it that way?
I'm at a loss here because it seems like everything is working with the flash but it is still boot looping. I will attempt to re flash again with stock recovery tar and pit when I get home.
I read all the stickies before I started and believe I did everything correct. Not sure where I went wrong. Wish I never let the phone lose power but it would gave happened sooner or later.

Surge,
Can I use your pit file from this link? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2578209
Or from what I read it seems that is only for the MK2 build. When I flashed this morning I used the PIT file from this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2290859
My main question is does the PIT file have to match your build and how can I be sure I am using correct PIT file for MJ7 build. Could you link that? I will keep looking in the interim. Possibly I just used the wrong PIT file.
You can flash the stock MF3 rom through odin.
I do Not know if it will delete your files though.
But this will work for the MF3 since this is one the only roms you can flash thorugh odin if you're on MF3
Well I am out of ideas. I have tried flashing both MJ7 and MK2 full wipe .tar along with the PIT files countless times and it keeps returning to the same weird prompt with the empty battery sign and rebooting.
I checked my system recovery and it seems like my knox warrenty flag is safe. It is still set at 0x00. It seems like my odin flashing has returned it to stock properly. Would I be able to warranty the device through verizon/samsung since my warranty is safe? If yes, would I just go to verizon or do it through samsung? Sorry but I've never had to warranty a phone before.
Thanks.

Okay so today i tried to go back to stock, i was in recovery, and when i went to flash the rom, it instantly failed. Problem with the zip maybe? Im not sure. Either way, it wont let me back into recovery now, so i cant restore (im not sure i made a restore anyways) but i can get into download mode
In download mode when i try to flash the tar file it sats SW REV CHECK FAIL : [aboot]Fused 3 > Binary 1
What am i doing wrong? Is my phone bricked?
When i try to turn it on i get the yellow triangle, and Kies wont let me restore.

Have you tried to flash a fresh copy of the exact same recovery you where using through Odin ?
If it will stick then try to do a backup/restore, but chances are it will boot loop again. So, I would go through the steps in this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-sprint/help/upgrade-to-4-4-4-revert-to-4-4-2-t2878402 post #6 or you can try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-sprint/help/4-4-4-download-mode-t2877528 post #3. [Q] Unbrick a i9100

Hi,
My friend has been using his Galaxy s2 for over quite some time and suddenly it froze during the bootscreen. It has been a clean version without anything warrenty-voiding stuff on it...
He asked me to look it up and i managed to get the phone into Download mode (Recovery mode wasn't working)
First time i tried to flash everyting over again on my Windows with Odin without using PIT files, after that i went into Ubuntu and still no luck..
At last i went back to Odin, flashing with PITfiles. When i tried this my PC froze and after a few hours i decided to reboot my phone. When i tried to get it back into download mode i just got a blank screen. no Download mode, no Recovery mode and so on. Even when i plug my phone into the wallcharger nothing happens.
Is there anything i still can try to get his phone up and running again?
Thanks in advance!

Did you tick repartition phone when you were flashing the pit files? Are you trying to use stock rom or custom rom? Stock rom requires the system size to be at defaults so make sure to flash a stock size pit. Otherwise, make sure you factory reset and wipe cache partition if you are trying to flash custom rom.

Have you tried a USB jig? See if your phone reacts too it. Since you can't get to download mode, you hard bricked your phone (assume your chsrging port is still ok). Were you running ics or JB?

I had exactly the same problem. The phone had to be JTAG restored. This process isn't for the feint of heart to say the least.
Google "JTAG i9100" and watch some Youtube vids.
