Wondering if I'm just missing something or if it's a change from KK to Lollipop, but on my old M7 I used to be able to click a video link (say ESPN highlights) in the HTC browser and it would pop up asking if I wanted to play the video online or download.
Now on my M9 clicking a link just plays the video. Tried finding a setting somewhere that maybe I selected by mistake to no avail. Tried some suggestions seen from searching, like long press the play button, but nothing works.
Is this option no longer available? Is there a way to get it back (ie feature request in custom rom)?

Might have something to do with no more flash player, maybe? you can clear defaults. Settings/Apps/HTC Browser/clear defaults
Could be something with the stock browser....Chrome asks me if I want to play a video in YouTube, Chrome, etc. unless I choose 'Always' for a video.

Always have scaling issues with Chrome that I don't get with the HTC browser but I'll try that anyway.

I'm trying to use video chat with Google Talk running UnNamed and the users on the other end are unable to see me. I've tried this from 2 different accounts/users and pc's and the result is the same. Audio is there, I can see them but from their end it's just displaying both of our avatars. I've also noticed that there is a lock icon in my window preview.
Has anybody been able to video chat using google talk on UnNamed?

Okay, Gtalk on UnNamed works only on wifi, unless you have enabled it such as Market application GTalkEnabler or various other methods that asks you edit some files to enable it, in oredr to work on 3g/4g.
Once you have installed GtalkEnabler, click on the app and there will be a check box against " Allow 3g/4g Gtalk Video Chat" and check that, and it should work, This is how I made it work.
Some Custom ROMs come with Gtalk pre-enabld, but somehow GTG decided not to activate it somehow, I don't know why.
In Marrket, look for "Enable Video Chat over 3g/4g".
Thanks guys i'm not sure why it's not working. It doesn't even work over wifi. I know I had used it before I flashed to from stock rom and it had worked. I was just curious if anyone else was having trouble since I couldn't find any threads up on here about it.
Thanks again for confirming it does indeed work, i was finally able to track it down to end user problem on pc clients. Must have finally goggled the right terms and found a google lab called "Video Chat Enhancement" and once having them enable that I can chat with them again.
No problem with UnNamed at all!
So with every HTC phone I've had in the past 3 years, its always had the option when long pressing on an image in the browser, to allow you to share it directly with other applications. I would use this feature everyday when sending out MMS messages.
Since updating my HTC Rezound to ICS, that feature is now gone. It would seem that ICS doesn't have this option anymore. I've had no luck in finding an alternative way to accomplish this.. Has anybody had any success in finding a workaround or a way of getting this feature back?
Thanks.

Been looking for the same thing since I've got ICS. My most requested feature. Figure anything out yet?
The chrome browser when long pressed gives the option to share. When selected it gives a list of option to share to i.e. email, text, social media. Is this what you are referring to?

I can't comment on whether or not chrome does this pre-ICS but post it does not. We are specifically looking for the option of long-pressing on an image and being able to share it through sms (not just the web address) or email, etc.
i guessim confused. i still have the option to longpress and save a picture then send it via eamil, text, etc.. from my gallery.

That's so backwards.. /sigh
I just tried this in Maxthon browser and it gave me the option to share....
I installed maxthon browser and while it does have the ability to share the image, it doesn't share the actual picture, just the url or of the image itself. This isn't the same as the other HTC phones where it would literally paste the picture to whatever application you specified.

Which means that it saves the image then opens the message app and attaches the pic to the message automagicly. You just have to so it manually now I guess.... that's kinda lame.

It does suck to have to save it to the gallery to share it. I came from an iPhone 4 and it was a nice feature to long press on an image in the browser, copy it, then paste it in email, messages or whatever. A 2 step process now takes 8 steps but it could be worse I guess. I wish there was a fix for this but I don't think we are going to get it.
One of the greatest Android applications I've ever used is Tubemate. The ability to download YT videos in the size I want is extraordinary. The WP application I hear the most about is MetroTube. What I really would like to see is a head to head versus the two applications in a video. Does anyone have a WP8 device and an Android laying so we can see a shootout?

Well, I started using the apps, and let me give you a quick rundown
Tubemate:
-Review in progress-
Metrotube:
-App taken down due to backend problems-
Will do a WP8 version review once its back up
Devices I'm using to review the apps
Tubemate: Motorola Atrix 2
Metrotube: HTC Windows Phone 8X
Video used:
Gangnam Style
Thanks for the comparison and the write up. I really thought Metrotube allowed for downloads for offline viewing?
That feature is currently in the latest beta.

Any way I can get it?
Tweet 'em @metrotube or just send them an email (you can find the address on their twitter stream somewhere) and they will let you in on the fun - if they still need testers!
Post will be updated at the request of the dev of TubeMate.
Meh, MetroTube doesn't even play videos on my 8x anymore. No videos load.. I just click play and the thumbnail blinks and goes back as if I never even clicked play.

Thats because Google made some changes again, third party apps like Metrotube and Tubemate have to be changed because of this- give it time, it's not their fault.

actually, its a hit and miss. just keep trying on playing it, comes eventually.
When I try to open video from facebook it dosen't work.
I tried to reinstall youtube app.
What could be the problem?
Get rid of the Atrix and switch to a dummy phone.
Sorry, but that's what you get for asking for help but then failing to provide even the most basic device/system information.
what do u mean by basic info....Its astrix device, what do u need more?
In order to understand your problem and to help you, we need to know what Rom / Kernel you're running, which version of the Facebook and YouTube app you use, what happens when u click the URL etc.
Suggestion: try cleaning data of both apps. I suppose it is the facebook app, so maybe it is an older version and updating will do it.
I have the latest version of all the apps. I tried to clean the data it didn't help.
Kernel and rom are original. when I click the link it opens the browser and then youyube app and fail to lunch the video...

I suppose you checked that it isn't the video and that you can launch the video manually in YouTube, right?
Then I really don't know except if it isn't the YouTube app that's launching. It could also be the Flash player and you have to clear its data or update. Search in your app list for all apps that look like a video player, I can't remember how the blur Roms handled video playback...
Another idea, I don't know if cleaning data doesn't do this already, but clear the defaults of both apps and try again, it should ask which player you want to use (damn is it really so long ago that I used Gingerbread, I can't remember anything that isn't holo)
Any other ideas?
Factory Reset or root and another ROM will always do the job xD.
Other than that, maybe try another browser...
The question is if this is really worth it, you can still just copy the link
Hello everyone,
I'm coming from a Galaxy S2 running ICS. When I would click to play a video from the default internet browser, I would get prompted for the video player. I'm assuming that it has something to do with flash compatibility? In any case, I really liked this behavior since I could choose MX player (stream) or Internet (download). This was very handy and I would love to be able to have that functionality on my new device.
I'm now using a Galaxy S4 running KitKat 4.4.2 and it seems that all videos play inline and I can't choose any other apps. Is there a way to get that functionality back?
Thanks for any insight you may have!
Nope. Android killed all flash plug-ins and apps are now made to play videos inline. Not to mention the option to download was breaking alot of rules.

Say it aint so!! Should this have been working in ICS? I'm wondering because if it's been disabled since before ICS, maybe I can still find a way around this...?

You might be able to get around this by using outdated apks from before they started using the inbuilt browsers but be warned that if you download the videos google has the right to term you account. Other then that there is nothing you can do. Flash has been dead for a long time now.
