[Q] Stuck on step 5 help please

Ok went though all steps and started on Step 5 to rooting. Now here is my problem. It reconnected to my devices which I verified but when I entered /data/local/psneuter I get permission denied.
What do I do now and how do I do it?
Let me start over here. Its actually the last command in step 4 that for adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/wpthis that I got the message is not a recognizable as an internal or external command??
What do I do. Im sitting her stuck/ Help please How do I back up to get this working again?
Make sure you reenable usb debugging after first flash, i got stuck on that. If you still need help go here, very helpful devs.
http://chat.andirc.net:9090/?channels=#thunderbolt
It was the usb debugging. I had gone back though everything and found that when it reboots I had to reset it and was able to pick up where I left off and got it rooted.
Thank you for the advice

Yeah, you're REAL mixed up, and lost, and pretty clueless about what you're talking about. This isn't a Samsung device, Odin doesn't do anything on HTCs, and neither does superoneclick. If I could make your post disappear, I would. This kind of nonsense only confuses people that might not know better. So, to future reader, IGNORE the quoted post.
To the OP:
Why did you opt for the ADB method? I'm just curious.

[Q] how to unbrick samsung galaxy s 2 t989 t-mobile

ok so today i finally rooted my samsung galaxy s 2 t 989 from tmobile wich is 2 days old i found an app on google play to unlock my phone and saw that i needed to update the kernel when i was doing it i saw that i said "yes install seyah 3.0 when i clicked it it said "aborted" and after i clicked reboot and then my phone wouldnt turn on please help
Did you have clock work mod flashed?
You can use ODIN to flash stock image. Do a search on google for STOCK ROM GALAXY S 2 T989. You may need to know your kernel however.. I have bricked my Samsung Galaxy S many times. ODIN always saves my ass. If you have clockwork, you can just flash a new rom. Use your PC to download a rom and sideload it. Clockwork Mod has mount and storage so you can mount your SD and sideload rom then flash.

The first step to fixing any problem you have would be to search and post in the appropriate thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1329
Your answer will definitely be found there. Threads are created and maintained to keep everything organized and accessible: if a solution isnt already posted, at least people who actually deal with the phone are there to help: your original post is not a general android question!
Good luck if you havent already fixed your device!

[GUIDE][I9100G][GB] Root Samsung Galaxy S II GT-I9100G

--- DISCONTINUED ---
UPDATE (Please Read): This is a guide for Rooting GT-I9100G on Gingerbread (2.3.6). Please don't use it for I9100 or on any other version than GB 2.3.6. This guide was originally posted by me on 29th March 2012. So, it's bit old now and you may like to follow other updated guides and methods. Well, I've shared another guide below to help newbies. As of 2014, I've bought a new phone, the Samsung GALAXY S4, so,I'd like to discontinue this thread. Still, anyone who's confused about anything or need any kind of help can contact me or simply post here until Mods don't close this thread.
For Rooting your I9100G on any Android version, you may like to read this updated guide.
PS: Thanks everyone, especially XDA, for the support, suggestions and everything else. Love you all.
--- ORIGINAL POST ---
Hi, I'm Paras Lehana.
My friends always asked me how to root their Samsung Galaxy S II I9100G. Moreover, I'm not able to find any specified page for rooting this G variant here on XDA. So, I decided to make a thread to help anyone who wants to root their I9100G.

I'm not responsible for any damage done to your phone. There's no chance of bricking your G if you follow the steps carefully. Ask anywhere you have doubts or your heart says, "It's risky here, buddy". As known, your warranty is voided if you root your phone but it can be regained by unrooting it.
Be Cool....! It's not a tough process
The method I'm going to describe is the most common method (for other methods post below):
FLASHING ROOTED KERNEL
Advantages :
Fast method, CWM support directly assuming the rooted kernel supports it.
Applicable to almost all stock firmware even up to the latest so far.
Disadvantages :
A bit dangerous, soft bricked may or may not occurred.
Without USB jig, warranty will be voided as binary counter is increased and yellow triangle occurred. Without USB jig, only yellow triangle can be removed. Binary counter can only be reset with USB jig and only from old bootloader (KJ2 and lower)
Required Applications - Odin (File is attached)
How To:
Download one of the rooted kernel
Superatoms (version 2.1 is very stable and recommended)
MyGKernel (still stable but quite old and not updated so far)
Lucifr (currently on development and have some new features)
NOTE: Every kernel may have some other steps to follow. You can check them out in their respective threads. I'm only giving the basic and common flashing steps.
Go to Download Mode : Turn off phone. Hold vol down+home+turn on button. Release the on button after phone is turning on. After a few second, release all buttons. After that vol up.
Run Odin, connect phone with usb cable, yellow COMx will be shown in Odin
Re-partition should not be ticked (no pit file is required here)
Select PDA button, choose the downloaded kernel file (usually a .tar file)
Click Start, a PASS will be shown if succeed
RESULT: Rooted (Superuser) and CWM Recovery

Sorry to say that you are on thin ice... about warez sites where you can download apk's... Me nor xda doesn't want anything to do with those sites, like referring or mentioning (see xda rules). Paid apps must be paid for. Be fair.

Ya, since your phone is rooted you can easily crack them.
But due to XDA Forum Rules, I can't share any information regarding warez here.

[Q] SG S3 not going into download mode

Hi guys i just bought a Samsung Galaxy S3 from Thailand
It has lot of apps in chinese. One of them specially called "QQ Security" is a nuisance
I need to remove it cannot
So searched the net
tried various ways to root the device but was unsuccessful
Finally got a step by step process on how to root the device which needs the phone to get into the download mode
The method i follow is "From off hold vol down and home then press power"
No matter what I do i cannot get into the download mode
It gets into recovery mode every single time i try it
I read some where that I can flash the rom but even for that the download mode is needed.
I am pretty stuck will appreciate any kind of links or guides
The model is GT-I9300?
Android Version 4.0.4
I am m sorry if this particular issue has already been talked about before, but i could appreciate any kind of help.
First question as always is it really a I9300 or some Chinese clone .
Second is use the instructions from XDA not from someone who gives wrong instructions .
Download Mode
PWR + Home + Vol Down .
Root use CF Root .
BASICS .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1927113
jje
Thanks for the reply...
1) not sure - any way to confirm
2) tried PWR + Home + Vol Down .
same result goes to recovery mode..
In that case it a Chinese clone not a GT I9300 .
Check details under the battery and in settings about phone .

Just use the AP button. That will flash your device. I already went ahead updated my s4 to Android 5.01 only to find it has the wifi issue again.

How to install PIT
Where do I can get PIT file? And how do I use it?
what's that mean for "RTN for Sprint" in version of Odin 3.10.7?
and how to use it and check it or not?

no usually you dont need to do that
first tell me what do you exactly want to do????
i have flashed my s5 couple of times for upgrading it ..... its quite easy .... fully exit your antivirus and kies ... enable usb debugging ..... go to download mode ..... connect your phone .... (if phone driver is installed on your PC) ID com turn to blue or yellow ..... check some option (depends on what you want to do exactly) .... choose your file(s) that want to flash them ..... and .................start.
some people advice to remove external card (but i didn't do that)
