[Q] Ota update after root - LG G2 Mini

Can you receive ota updates after you have been rooted but have not modified the /system partition? thanks.

Yap but you can not update to install
Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

What do you mean with that?

The /system partition has been modified by rooting (su binary & other root-related files).
You will receive OTA updates but installation will fail.

What if update is initated by mistake? It's display Rooted in red and progress bar is stuck at 0%. Can I safely turn it off and on?

Stock rom & root - system status problem

Hai there,
I've problem with system status in download mode, on rooted stock xeo jb rom on my gt-i9300.
System status: Samsung official - custom
First problem appears after updating system to jelly bean, cf root-ing and using triangle away - system status remains as listed above.
I've readed, that the problem isn't root, but custom recovery installed with cf.
So:
I flashed rom again, and rooted using s3 toolbox - clear root, without flashing reco. Used triangle away and... nothing. Still Samsung official - custom is showed.
Halp.

Hey, thanks for your reply!
I knew this trick before, but unfortunately, on jb it doesn't work for me. Today i followed those steps again:
Factory format - flash via Odin - flash root using s3 toolbox (w/o recovery) - TA - factory format
And still system/binary status is Samsung official - custom
note that factory format has been made by code.

Why not follow the steps i gave ..
Run TA
Flash STOCK firmware and factory reset after .
Possible of my method does not work its the root program you use .
Also see post regarding rom counter not resetting posted in the last few days .
jje
Does this method works with cf root?
After flashing rom and rooting shouldn't I use triangle before factory reset?

Repeat
Run TA ( you will obviously need to be rooted and i have no knowledge of any other root method bar CF Root )
Flash stock rom via Odin .
Reboot
Factory reset
Check status .
jje
Followed your steps - still the same :<
could you give me link to thread you talking about?

Stag I could be wrong but if you follow JJEgans steps you should be fine but the second u apply root after your fresh install youll get a custom status again. Also if your using mobile odin pro to flash stock rom youll more than likely have ever root selected and again this will keep the custom status as your newly flashed rom will have root.(i.e modified so custom)
That's the problem, on ics i could have official status with root, and working OTA, even with modified nfc.apk to trigger nfc while screen was off, just used TA...
On jb, after flashing cf or other root w/o custom recovery neither factory format and TA works... TA just resets flash counter and system status to Samsung official, but binary remains "custom", so automatically OTA stops working >.<

[Q] How to downgrade stock Kitkat to stock 4.2.2 (UL)

Hi,
Sorry for the noob question, but I would like to downgrade the stock Kitkat to the original 4.2.2 I had on my Desire 601, when I bought it. I haven't fiddled with the phone in any way yet, so it is still S-ON. What would be the easiest and most secure way to downgrade it to original stock 4.2.2 (I guess UL)? This is a standard european distribution version, without any carrier rebranded version.
Thanks a lot.

Hi I have tried this method and I got to a point where I flashed the Jelly Bean ROM. After that the phone doesn't boot anymore and recovery says that there is no OS. The device still has S-OFF and unlocked bootloader. What should I do? I cannot boot the phone anymore. I've tried to flash SuperSU, but that doesn't work, also tried to flash JB rom once again, but it reboots a few seconds after starting the flashing process. Please help.
You have recovery for Jelly Bean or Kitkat and bootloader 2.20?

I played with it a bit, it seems that it cannot flash the ROM. It cannot mount the system partition and even though it says that the ROM has been successfully installed, I don't think so, because afterwards when rebooting, it says that there is no OS installed. So I think the problem is it cannot mount the /system partition...

I found that the flashing of the new ROM stops when it is about to write the system partition. It just reboots the phone. So the real issue is with that system partition, TWRP can't write nor create a new one. Any ideas?

I'm trying to do that, but even when it says that it was successfully restored (Jelly bean), when i reboot, it just shows the HTC logo and locks there forever. I can then just long press power button and it will reboot. After the restore of Jelly bean, TWRP cannot mount /system partition anymore.

Hello,
I have managed to solve the issue. The problem was that I was flashing a wrong ROM - I accidentally also downloaded a Jelly bean downgrade ROM, but for hboot 2.22. When I flashed the correct one (for hboot 2.20) everything worked, even without renaming the hcheck. Sorry for all the fuss I caused and thanks for your patience.

[Q] What to do before updating?

Hi! I have one question. What I need to do before updating D620R with the new OTA update? Because I rooted my phone and did a few changes in G2settings. Do I need to install clean soft or is there a simpler way?

I think we need some professional advice. I'm totally sure it's a software issue and there must be a way to get out of this situation.
