Hello, so I'm a long time Greenify user from since the beginning of it and as most people I love the app, not it only helps battery but also makes the device so much faster couldn't thank more for this app.
I've been through a case lately where I updated my phone for the 5.0 stock (Samsung galaxy s5 g900m). And then I felt Greenify acting different, when I hitted the button hibernate now it would hibernate all apps at once and so fast no matter how many apps were woken that got me surprised. I was loving it even more, but then I went to a custom ROM that made my sistem much lighter and better but then Greenify went back to the usual self, hibernating apps one by one and taking time to finish the more apps there were to hibernate, not that it's bad, it's still Greenify, but it was better that way.
My question is, is there a way to make it hibernate faster? All at once, is it a configurable thing somewhere? Can I make it so that it uses more of the CPU and just Greenify faster?
Thanks in advance for your time !

You are probably in "Root" working mode instead of "Boost" working mode. Boost working mode requires xposed framwork and it is faster. The modes can be changed in the experimental features part.

Do you guys use task manager? Why or why not?
Sometimes yes...not sure if you really need to with this phone. Just a little OCD on my end
Only when some app is making problems, otherwise no
I often run a kill once at bootup, and then after that only if an app seems to be holding wakelocks or eating excessive CPU.
There is no longer any valid reason for using a task manager for memory management purposes, only for killing wakelock/CPU hogs.
I use Autostart to kill a few things that like to start up on boot, then ATK just for killing wakelock/cpu apps as well.
Mainly FB/Engadget like to stay running when I exit them and cause my battery to get eaten away.
I usually push the "clear memory" button.
I do along with Advanced Task Killer. It kind of nice to know less things is running in the background eatting battery...
ahh, thanks for the reply. cause i was wondering if i should have it as a widget (to clear memory faster) or not (save battery).
I use it when apps are misbehaving or my phone is warm. Mostly its the engadget app.. It runs cpu at like 70% when in background for some stupid reason.

It's up to you if you want to put it as a wigget for easy access. I myself don't, because I hate clutter screen. It only take me 5 seconds to navigate to it.
All the time. just to make sure nothing drains my battery and nothing (especially Browser) is not continuously access internet when I outside WiFi.
Rarely. like others I use one to check and kill misbehaving apps.
I freeze or uninstall most unused apps and disable startup on some.

Not really. I use watchdog task manager to keep an eye on things (with a fairly low threshold - 30%), and it does a really good job. I also use Autostarts to stop a few things from starting up at all.
Hi Guys,
I am using xperia sola from last twenty days.....:good: but the battery performance is very bad:crying: when i checked my battery usage, analysis came out that more than 50% of battery is getting used by display....so to cut down that i have started using picture wallpaper instead of live wallpaper but to my surprise i came to know that Live wallpaper is running in the background which is still consuming my battery.
Battery is lasting for less than 24 hours.
help me to resolve particular issue.

Task killer won't help, those tasks will come back and make it even worst for the juice they use for initation.
Disable data, or use 2G only (turn 3G back on when you really nead it). Or you can search in this forum the way to do it automatically .
For the live wallpaper issue, just uninstall it
Bright
You should try reducing the bright, Hight bright eats all the phone battery...

Screen brightness is going to be your number one killer. Also, if you're using WiFi/3G/4G all day long that will kill your battery too. Finally, if you're playing games that use a bunch of graphics that utilize your phone's hardware (openGL, unreal engine, etc.) it will drain your battery pretty fast.
I have seen an article somewhere saying that live wallpapers don't actually consume as much battery as people make them out to be, and i found this to be true, i got 5 days out of my Optimus 2X (no sim card inside) and it had a live wallpaper, what consumes the most battery is the screen itself (reduce brightness to get better battery life while using the phone) and data on 3G (i always turn off data when i don't use it) and i normaly get 2 days out of my Optimus 2X (1 day of heavy usage).
Thank you for the info whoever provided here.

Try or start with this app above and hunt for apps that syncing/updating in the background and basically you need to make a dumb phone out of your smartphone. Disable all autosyncs/notifications in the setting and apps like Facebook disable notifications. Open up Google play>settings and uncheck all default checked settings. Disable gmail/email notifications. Disable auto backup/restore. Disable all location services/vibrations/sounds when typing/wifi or GPS or BT when not in use. Disable data or stick with 2g in standby mode. Find a custom ROM that usually will be much better with battery management.
That's in a nutshell of how I can basically keep my phone draining 1% per hour on standby mode.

I highly recommend GO Power Master: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gau.go.launcherex.gowidget.gopowermaster
It lets you customize power profiles and set "sleep" cycles so that it uses minimal power when you're not using it anyway (I set mine to just be phone/text from 11pm until 7am).
It also has a "smart kill" button on the widget (which you don't have to use) that will prolong battery life by killing apps that are doing nothing. I know there's a lot of argument about app/task killers out there, but it's always worked well for me.
Adjust screen brightness to 0 (dim)
use dark wallpaper
disable gps, bluetooth , wifi when not in use and also air plane mode during night time
and also clear running apps with task manager:good:
Also you could try GSam Battery Monitor Pro, it will show you which process are using %'s of power
Try this one

You are using stock firmware or custom?
The app Clean Master claims it can extend battery life and device performance by killing apps--even offering a button to kill all apps. I thought killing apps was unnecessary since Android does this automatically when RAM is full and that killing apps manually actually drains battery life. What's the deal? Is swiping an app away from the Recent Apps List the same as killing an app? I currently do this often because the list is usually packed.
Thanks.
Clean Master actually does increase performance of your device, especially and lower end ones that have 512mb of ram to work with. However, this also decreases battery life by very little. Android does kill task automatically however as you said it waits until the memory is full which leads to a lot of lag and sluggishness. Swiping an app from the recent apps I believe does kill it. Personally instead of swiping my ROM supports "hardware back to kill" in which I hold down my back button to kill the app. It seemed to do a much better job than swiping.

So Clean Master does "decrease battery life by very little" and the claim that it saves battery life through killing apps is incorrect? This is at the expense of increased performance only if RAM is full, too. It seems that the term "killing apps" is very misleading even for Android users as it actually uses more battery life to kill the apps rather than leave them alone (because they use little to no resources in the background). If this is truly the case, then I guess I shouldn't worry too much about killing apps until my RAM is full and I experience lag. Still, I find it kind of surprising that such a highly rated and popular app claims one thing and does the other.
On a semi-unrelated note, is there some mod I can install on top of a ROM I'm using that lets me kill an app or display the Recent Apps List by long-pressing menu/back button? Or must I install a ROM that has this built-in feature?
Thanks.

Any task killing app such as auto memory manager, clean master, and so on decreases battery life, because it always using background resources. However, you most likely will never notice the difference in battery life lost since it is so negligible. I'm honestly not sure. I did a little bit of research and it usually pointed to that this function had to be in the framrwork of the rom. So my guess is you'd either have to modify the existing framework of a stock rom or just download a rom like Cyangonmod.
Hey everyone,
After playing a bit with my Honor battery this week, I realized that my phone barely goes into deep sleep mode.
I have few Power consuming apps running in the background such as Facebook, Google App, Google Play Store, Textra, Gmail or Pebble.
Using tasker I periodically turn on and off the Auto Sync parameter (1 min of auto sync every 30 minutes) and I always shut down all the applications running in the background.
In my previous Nexus 5, I didn't had much of a problem with the CPU Deep sleep but now that I'm on EMUI without Root on I feel like I can barely control anything that's happening on my phone anymore, especially on the battery.
Overall the battery is still correct but I'm just wondering whether I'm the only one noticing this.
Thanks !
If battery life is normal then it doesn't matter. All cpu operate differently, maybe its just how kirin is. If apps are consuming power in background , emui will tell you.
Have you gone through the power saving and background apps managers of EMUI itself ? Maybe there is conflict of that with Tasker.
I just create battery discussion thread, I appreciate if you can post info here , Thanks

Yeah, I'm spending a lot of time checking out the power saving in the background and after a few day it seems that the phone kinda got used to it.
Facebook and G+ are still coming up first in term of power consumption (I actually wonder why every time I kill them, they just come back... even though they're both not synchronized anyway)
I've gotta admit that the on screen time is pretty amazing! The one thing that's kinda scaring me is the background power consumption but I'll try harder to get this right if anything can be done about these app running in the background. (I'll try rooting and grenifying it)
Other than that, yeah the phone last me a good day with a good amount of on screen time!
I'm using CM13 and new to using Greenify as I just bought the donation package but have some questions that I'm not sure about.
1. I have instant messaging apps (Whatsapp and WeChat) and games on my phone, when I finish using the app, I press the home button and have them running in the background, does that uses more battery or do I need to add the apps to the hibernation list?
2. Should I use hibernate or shallow hibernation as I switched from iPhone to OnePlus 3 and on the iPhone when I reopen the app, it will return to where I left it.
3. I have enabled aggressive doze so that it will go to sleep mode when the screen is off, will I get delay Whatsapp and Wechat messages or do I need to add it to the whitelist so notifications comes instantly when I receive them?
Many thanks!

1. Any app which is not greenified will run in the background once it is opened and then dismissed by the Home button. As far as the IM apps are concerned, the advice of the Dev is not to greenify them if you rely on them. However, some people have successfully greenified those IM apps which use GCM without issues but some others complain of delayed notifications. So it may be better not to greenify them if you rely on them. Of course they will consume more battery since they are running in the background.
2. If you want iPhone like behaviour, use shallow hibernation. Otherwise, the apps will start afresh.
3. It is better to add such apps to the white list.
i could be wrong.... but i noticed that most of the times aggressive doze does NOT exted the real battery life...... maybe it COULD extend it if you do not touch the phone for long periods like 2...4 hours at time, but if you make a normal usage of the phone i suspect that activating and deactivating doze is DRAINING more battery than it tries to save!!!
.........any other though?

Similar observation on battery savings. In most cases any power related benefits of aggressive doze are wiped out when the device wakes from its comma and performs a bunch of 'catch up' tasks. Such behavior can lead to lag immediately after wake which is a common complaint associated with aggressive doze. That said, aggressive doze may have other situational benefits...especially over longer durations. As always YMMV.
yes, i think about a person who does pick up the phone just every 4...5 hour at day because it is not important (for him) to always check the latest messages, and in that condition it could be useful the aggressive doze.
i even noticed that to disable the movement sensors is NOT a great thing...... of course great if someone is in car or moving everytime but it has the CON of turning on/off the brightness sensor of the phone and at every display power on the phone lags for 1/2 seconds.
i must admit that in the last years i've always used aggressivedoze/ or naptime and greenified lots of apps but i should reconsider the fact to UNinstall all....... and see if the battery life is really worse or not.

The sensor issue is device specific. I enable 'doze on the go' on all my devices and have yet to encounter the brightness glitch. However, I don't use the more aggressive sensor suppressions available in some apps. Note 'doze on the go' is enabled by default w/Android 7+.
After experimenting with countless apps/tools/techniques (ugh) my Android power management methodology has evolved to a 'lite touch' minimalist approach. I only take overt action when a specific drain can not be contained by other means. Greenify is the tool of choice with only a few bad actors in the explicit hibernation list. Android defaults handle everything else. My devices sleep soundly, behave predictably and score admirably low drain rates. App selection obviously plays into that. Big pigs like Facebook, Google everything and WhatsApp are not part of my portfolio as lighter alternatives exist. Good luck with your own adventures.
