[Q] Mixing stock ROMS and basebands - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
I have just flashed the Generic AU rom for my Z2, and would like to know if I can now just flash the baseband from my Telco's AU rom. That way I would have the best of both worlds - no bloat and a fine tuned baseband.
Cheers

Doesn't make much sense to me. The D6503 (and 02) is a global model, I believe that all firmwares have the same baseband. For example: The latest firmware 23.1.A.1.28 has the 8974-AAAAANPZQ-00038-40 baseand. The US, GEL and ES firmwares they all have the same baseband number. (I've tested them all)

Ah no worries, thanks for the reply. I've only ever had Samsung and htc phones and the different carriers in Australia all had different radios on the same phone.
I can flash with impunity now, and that makes me happy!

[Q] 2.1.1.A.0.6 Rogers rom on ATT?

Has anyone put the new Rogers rom on a locked ATT unit?
Any market problems?
Any problems removing Rogers apps?
I THINK want to go to one of the custom roms but I'm only on Baseband 2.0.46
and I don't have Dual Touch installed. But it seems that I'm required to update to the higher bb at least, and though I see a BB update only thread, it's unclear if all basebands are compatible with all SE 2.1 update-1. And then I would still have to update to dual touch prior to installing a custom rom.
Since these are two independent flash requirements, and it seems that I have to update to some rom higher than 504 anyway, so I was wondering if I could just go to the Rogers one.... getting dual touch and a higher baseband right off the bat in an official package in one shot, and check it out prior to deciding to move on.
Different basebands work with different firmwares and kernels. You can mix and match, to some degree (for instance, .55 baseband works with .435 or 2.1.1.A.0.6 FW), but there's really no reason to.
I own an AT&T X10a, and I always use the X10i Global Generic firmwares. All the features without all the crap.
Check out the link in my signature for an optimized version of the .435 firmware (dualtouch, etc). Follow the instructions, there's a file for flashing the new kernel and baseband on there.
Good luck!

But even your firmware says I have to flashtool a higher baseband to get it work prior. (Shouldn't you update your screen shots, you show bb 2.0.46 when you really mean 2.0.54) Though what you've put together is very interesting. Do you still have all the SE apps, too, in the collection of applications? (Just asking, I know they have apk's available.)
I'm just trying to avoid flashing multiple times now*, do a straight 2.1.1.A.0.6 update and flash only once and get higher baseband, dual touch and whatever other tweaks there are which don't require flashing. There's no LAM/NAM generic of this version yet?
*flashtool for me a PITA, because I don't have VISTA/Win7 computers generally available and it works better on that than XP which is problematic due to the SE usb drivers which sometimes freeze it in flash mode. I am getting a decent tax refund, I suppose it's time to upgrade to sandybridge and Win7 (since the first SP is out) before they announce Win8.

[Q] Which firmware to install?

Hi everyone, I am new here. I just returned i9100g for a i9100. Anyways as I look for the i9100 firmware at sammobile.com, there are tons of ICS available. Which one will I install?
Also I am in Bangladesh, however we get mixed region phones: Sometimes from Malaysia, Singapore, France, etc. How do I know which region I have, so it can guide to install the proper ICS.
I installed XXLPJ, everything works well, however I noticed that just like my initial i9100g, whenever I use the voice to setup alarm, it doesn't work. I fixed this problem when I installed the proper region firmware for my phone, which was French at that time. The problem is I don't know which region of the phone this actually is.
Any idea?
Thank you
I dont think different regional firmwares will make any difference in your alarm settings too...
you can check the firmware information by dailing *#1234#
ROM selection
you can have a look for the language supported by that rom, you can also go for custom rom, language information was given there that it support these many language.
Also i am agree with "zaheedahmed" that "regional firmwares will make any difference in your alarm settings" i guess this the bug with that version of ROM, so it better to upgrade your ROM.
Thanks for your responses. What do I need to look after after for the latest firmware, android version? Cause there are tons of 4.0.3

if you want to remain on stock roms, for bangladesh already ICS official rom available now http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=GT-I9100&r=2#
or your can root your phone and install any custom ICS rom...go for any popular one after reading reviews of the respective ROM thread

[Q] When is ICS avaliable?

I bought the phone in January sim free, for full price from my local mobile phone store. It is running stock android 2.3.4 (build number: GINGERBREAD.XWKI4). Its been in the online news a lot that ICS would be available by the end of Q1 but still, i am unable to update. I get a message saying my firmware is the latest available.
I live in New Zealand and as far as i understand you (USA) have ICS but what about for me? I'm assuming my phone is the international version so i thought i would have the update by now.
So does anyone know the full story?
Thanks
ICS hasn't been released by any of the NZ telcos yet (I checked with Checkfus). You can pretty much run any ICS stock (or custom for that matter) rom you want. Lots of Odin (mainly stock roms) & CWM flashable (mainly custom) roms on here (search the development sections).
One thing to bear in mind if you do flash a stock ICS rom from another region tho, you may have problems getting updates via Kies in future. If that happens, you'd need to flash a stock rom for your region in order to get Kies updates again. Or you could do what the majority of people on here do, bypass Kies completely (horrible excuse for software) & flash all your roms manually.
As long as you've got an I9100 or I9100T you can flash any firmware for these phones.
Fellow Kiwi here mate, just flash any ics rom thru odin. I've had no issues whatsoever, the latest Lp7 rom with speedmod kernel is the best I've had. You wont regret it.
I'm with telecom, they wont update anything quickly at all.
Hope this helps your decision

which ics?

just wondering which version of the ics update is the best/most stable for me to install on my uk unbranded (3114) phone?
been waiting ages now, and interested in trying ics, but who knows when the official update will arrive for the uk
the nordic combined is the one that's reccommended in one of the stickied threads....anyone from the uk have any experience with this? or should i keep waiting for uk generic update?
There're no differences between different countries firmwares other than some bloatware apps, hence the version number is the same for all.
You can flash any of them, and it will work in your country.

Xperia Sola stock firmware for Baltics.

Hi
Anyone know where to find stock firmware for Xperia sola for Baltic region (Latvia)? Doesn't matter 2.3 or 4.0 Android.
The thing is week after going back to stock firmware (don't know what region, definitely not Baltic) from some custom roms my microphone stopped working. Phone now is not rooted and bootloader was never unlocked, so there shouldn't be any problems with warranty if I can find anywhere stock firmware for Baltic region, but unfortunately so far - no luck.

I already tried both of them, none of them is what I had before, both have some additional aps that I didn't have before.
