Flash Cricket XT1527 Locked to Unlocked Stock? - E 2015 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently bought a Cricket Version XT1527 that is not allowed for bootloader unlocking. From what I've read you can flash other signed roms. However, I recently bricked one trying this. I think it is because I started with the 5.1 rom which seems to hose things up. Therefore, two questions before I try this again.
1. Can I flash my locked bootloader cricket to the sim unlocked variant (no carrier) 5.0.2 rom with no problems?
2. When it gets the 5.1 update, will it install without any issues?

was this the 2015 moto e? I didn't think there was a go phone version.
Also, did anything screw up? Did parts of it successfully flash? Or did it just deny everything and stay with stock?

You can't do it. Trying it would likely brick your phone. Look, to flash a Unlocked SIM firmware, you'd need to have your bootloader unlocked, as it'd be a different firmware than yours, and the phone doesn't let you flash alien firmware if your bootloader is unlocked.
For Cricket users, there's no way to flash any firmware other than Cricket one.

And they make the bootloader unlockable so you CAN'T unlock the SIM, stuff like this should be illegal.

//International ATT users only// relock carrier after flashing

Hi everyone,
I have bought a new Unlocked ( by imei ) ATT ATRIX from ebay. Everything's perfect . I am using it on my country ( in South America ) with my own mobile's carrier. So, my question is.... Once I unlock the bootloader and then flash a new rom ( as cm10 by joker or anything else ) I would like to hear from you guys ( international users like me ) if After flashing a new rom you have to UNLOCK the att carrier like when It was on stock rom. I am afraid of the phone to ask me the unlock code after flashing a new rom for first time .
Thank you guys.
IMEI unlock, especially if done by the original carrier itself (like AT&T) is virtually permanent and irreversible no matter what you do. I called AT&T and they gave me the SIM unlock code for my (american-based) Atrix. After unlocking it with that code I did all sorts of things with the phone (rooted, booted, flashed, wiped, flashed again...) and I never had to so much as even think of the SIM ever being locked. I am also using it outside the US.

Well, It wasnt done by the original carrier. The seller did it ( I think he just bought the imei code from anyone and did it by himself ). There shouldnt be a difference, right?
Thank you.

No you shouldn't have a problem, I too bought the unlock code from eBay. I am using the phone in India and flashed nearly all the roms out there, even dual booting now, never had to enter the unlock code again.

Yes, there shouldn't be any.
I bought mine from ebay as well and got it unlocked with code from a ebay seller and it worked as a charm now no problem after repeatedly flashing every week.

Yes, you can update, and it'll still accept the non-Verizon SIM. I've seen no indication that Verizon wants to sim-lock these phones.

SIM card not found in CM13

I've been able to successfully flash CM13 but during setup it says it can't find SIM card. My phone came with 5.1 so it has the proper modem firmware files. It's a Sprint XT1526. I had to revert to a backup of 5.1 to use the phone features.

Sprint sim? Did you try toggling radio modes with network app? Just throwing out ideas - haven't run into this with my Sprint branded device using the included sim on ringplus. But that device is on an older resurrection remix build.

It appears to detect my sprint SIM however I am in Canada and use a different SIM.
EDIT: Changing the preferred network to LTE/GSM/CDMA doesn't stick.

Are you sim unlocked? It's my understanding (maybe incorrect) that the Sprint version can be used on gsm outside the US, but you'll need to unlock it with the msc code. I got my msc from Sprint via a help chat online, but you can also get it by signing up for ringplus - they give it to you as part of the sign up process.
I've never had a non us sim to test - did you get a prompt to enter the code when you put in the Canadian sim? I don't know how to force the msc prompt.

It's not locked and works fine on stock android. Never needed to enter a code. I also unlocked the bootloader and rooted it.

Oh, gotcha - a SIM that works fine on Stock ROM doesn't work on CM13. I hope someone else can point you in the right direction - I don't know, as I pretty quickly gave up on my Sprint model (left it to languish as an emergency CDMA phone on ringplus free plan) and picked up the USCellular version to use routinely, as the $40 it cost was way cheaper than my time and frustration with trying to get the Sprint model working on ATT.

Hi I'm no one to comment since I don't have the Sprint Variant though I have the unlocked GSM Variant. I have experienced this. Just wait for a while after the first setup. That's what I do and eventually it detects my SIM

You mean wait at the SIM not detected on the setup wizard or after setup? I've had the phone on long enough after setup that if it was going to detect it, it should have already.

Now we have root for T-Mobile variant

Will the amount of development improve for the G5 in general for all variants?
I believe so, yes
What I'm wondering is how similar the Canadian model is to it. Or how much difference between the h831 and h830 there really could be.

pretty much the same in hardware.. but the entire bootstack is different. what works for tmobile would not work for H831. H831 is in the same boat as the ATT, Verizon and other locked variants. not possible to use the tmobile bootstack on non-tmo phones either.

apparently.. check out the tmobile g5 development section.. there's a TOT made that flashes TWRP on your devices.. works as long as you unlock the bootloader thru fastboot first.

for EU H850 devices that do not pass through LG's Bootloader Unlock Developer page... the only hope is for you all to contact LG and continuing to contact/complain until they either give you a valid reason why some H850 EU variants do not work when 95% of them do... and hopefully they will add your variant/buyer-type to the unlock program officially.

Question Will installing the unlocked ROM void my warranty?

I'm about to get the Nord N200 (T-Mobile) and I'm wondering if flashing the rom made by OnePlus will void my warranty.
Yes, just unlocking the bootloader loses your phone warranty (It also depends on the store)
If you have the T-Mobile variant, then using the MSM Tools will will return it to factory condition, including it's bootloader being locked. So you shouldn't have too much of an issue with the warranty.

I can confirm this works. It's also handy to use the msm tool for the tmo 2127 variant if you run into issues installing roms. The 2127 can be a bit finicky and different.

If you have a T-Mobile/MetroPCS device, it will return it to factory condition. The MSM Tool is much more thorough in this than the inbuilt factory reset.
If you have the unlocked variant, the MSM Tool will not work on your phone at all, you'll get an error message.
