[Q] Samsung Galaxy s3 Display/Screen issue - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everyone!
Few months ago I bought a Samsung Galaxy S3 (international, GT-i9300) and I noticed a small issue with the display/screen.
A row of semi-transparent icons appear on the screen for as long as it's ON. I don't know if anyone else experienced this issue, to help me out, but it is annoying, wherever I go, whatever I do, those icons remain on the screen, semi-transparent.
Whenever I take a screenshot and send it to my PC, the icons do not appear on the screenshot. I would love to know what this issue is and if there is a possible way to fix it.
I would upload an example how it looks but due to my low post count I am unable to add external picture links.

Use the search facility, this has been asked before.
It's the OLED showing screen burn, like tube TV's used to. There is no cure.

SMOLED burn in problems?

Is anyone else worried about the burn in problems like the original moled had? My vibrant had it bad... Please don't tell me its not an issue with the original sgs screens, type in google and you will see a lot of complaints on this topic, and my screen is burn in galore. Just wondering if this new screen will suffer from similar problems or if samsung recognized and corrected this issue?

I have burn in on my nexus one right now. Status bar is burnt in, and the keyboard is burnt in. Yes the galaxy s2 will likely do it too.

Wow, really? I got my Desire (AMOLED) for more than a year now and I can't notice anything.
Zero burn-in after a year's heavy use of my SGS1 - just leave the no activity timeout to 5 minutes or less and you'll be fine.

I had burn in after the first month of my nexus. About all people have it, you just haven't noticed it yet.
I see two possibilities here. Some people notice it more, some people based on their usage suffer from it more. I got the N1 when it released for AT&T, dont remember when exactly that was, somewhat more than a year? I'm just now getting to where I notice some burn in but it seems slight to me, not an issue now. Dont know which way I fall in my first observation but I can say that given enough time I think that most people will notice some burn in, how much time, I dont know. I suppose the bottom line is how how much time you spend with a device and will you move on before you get to where burn in becomes an issue to you with your usage. Thats a tough question to answer.
Nine times out of ten burn in on a mobile would be from the status bar. So if you're worried just download and use Go Launcher and set the slide up gesture to hide and show it.
That's interesting people with lcd displays have burn in as well... Well my status bar is permanently there, half the icons on my desktop are also burnt in, had my vibrant since it first came out, its set to 30 sec timeout and auto bright. So do amoled displays just have it worse or is it about the same?

Wow, this is just unbelievable. Screen issues, 3G/Wi-Fi issues, GPS issues.....the list just goes on and on. And yet Samsung is already working on Galaxy 3. Maybe they should have worked on this one a bit longer before releasing this problem ridden thing. Last time I ever buy a Samsung phone.

you hear more about the bad problems, because nobody makes a thread on this forum just to tell, that theit phone is working
i have none of those "problems" you listed above. every phone has such problems. no phone is perfect.
there is no need to tell, that you'll never buy a samsung device again(you probably will), just because you read on the forums, that some people(not that many) have problems with their phone.
OMG! Today, my Samsung Galaxy S2 whole screen turn yellowish. Extremely yellowish. After restart the phone, it back to normal again. Firmware or Hardware problem?

Lock screen flickering, is this normal??

Greetings XDA'ers, i have a Galaxy S II (international) and it's running stock ICS (XXWLPG) and the "problem" is that right before the lock screen comes up there is some screen flickering, black and white lines flickers vertically across the screen in about half a second before the lockscreen comes up. Its very hard to see this. But its easy to see it in dark rooms, like cinemas and such.
I have already returned the phone to where i bought it, the first time they changed the front LCD panel. and 2. time they didn't fix anything. And here in Norway the third time can get my money back for the phone if the same problem exists for 3 times. And if i do that then i can get the money back. And buy a S III ))
But anyway is this normal, they said they discovered the problem when i send it in the first time. and its still happening. so is this happening to you guys??
-Thanks for your helpfulness
Anyone???
I've not seen it, and you may need to wait longer than 2 hours to get a response from someone who has. This is a forum, not your personal instant messaging support client.
no it's not normal, pretty obvious

[Q] Screen burn on galaxy s3

Hi Guys, I have screen burn problems again with my S3, had the same issue on S2 also.
I use Sygic sat nav software 4-5 hours a day 5-6 days a week, and I now have a nice circle in the top corner of my screen where the speed limit is.
I am running an app called Screen burn-in tool which was recommended when i searched online, its been running now for about half hour but i don't think it will help at all, but its worth a try.
Does anyone know if screen burn is covered under manufacturers warranty or not?
also while running the app i can now tell that the status bar is also burnt into the screen, how very annoying after having this phone for a little over a month....:crying:

i would not think that Samsung will take it back since it is not a manufacturing defect, you could try.

Does samsung specifically state not to have static images on the screen? If so, then yes, it is not a manufacturer defect. However, if there is no mention of it, you could possibly argue that there was no forewarning of the possibility of screen burn.
Good luck, keep us updated!

Galaxy S3 Screen Burn in

I'm having the same issue. Would love to know how to solve this. Although I think the only solution is replacing the screen.
2 years? It can happen in a couple of days if you leave a static image on the screen.
I read a while back that this might work but don't quote me on that. Also, I'm not responsible if anything bad happens.
Try putting your phone on max brightness, displaying a completely white picture and leave it like that overnight. Plug in the charger and keep the display from dimming and turning off.

Okay i think ill try it. How much is it, if i replace the screen? Would you recommend to replace the screen or just wait a bit and buy a New phone?

Too Bad Do other Phones with amoled technology like s4,s5 have this Problem too? In other words: Will all amoled displays in the future get burn ins after a while or is it possible to reduce this effect?
