Why do we have to use adb to flash to a new cwm recovery version? From manager won't do it and I want cm10. Cm10 won't install until I upgrade to the newer cwm (I guess).
Anyone?

Just rooted the s3 now trying to install cwm with rom manager. it installs but when i reboot the phone the android 3e recovery comes back i gather that the stock rom is just re flashing 3e recovery on boot so if i use rom manager to flash cwm then reboot to recovery and use the cwm recovery to flash a custom rom ie cyanogenmod will that stop the stock recovery from being flashed?
Use philz touch recovery mate loads better... and it will give you the option to stop stock recovery re-flashing

Try reinstalling recovery, if you flash a custom rom it breaks the recovery
(recovery is kept in the rom its self)

I want to try out the new Lollipop ROM but I am still on CWM V.5.5.0.4
How do I get to TWRP 2.6.x.x and up? Can I just flash that?

In short, yes you can flash it in cwm. Try the TWRP app from the app store first.

Flash TWRP zip directly from CWM. It works.
