So I flashed clockwork recovery using fastboot but when I try to enter recovery it just stucks on "RCK" logo and nothing happens. I tried flashing it with ROM Manager too but it's still the same. Any ideas?

I hope you are on ICS and not Jellybean as there is no compatible clockworkmod for Jellybean.

Just rooted the s3 now trying to install cwm with rom manager. it installs but when i reboot the phone the android 3e recovery comes back i gather that the stock rom is just re flashing 3e recovery on boot so if i use rom manager to flash cwm then reboot to recovery and use the cwm recovery to flash a custom rom ie cyanogenmod will that stop the stock recovery from being flashed?
Use philz touch recovery mate loads better... and it will give you the option to stop stock recovery re-flashing

I just flashed trickdoid rom on my ATT HTC one and it paused in recovery. I then had to go back to fast boot mode. Now I can't boot into my cwm recovery or reboot my phone. I can only stay in fast boot mode. I tried flashing using computer and fast boot mode but still nothing. Any ideas. Thanks in advance

Have you tried flashing a different recovery? Try twrp and clear cache before rebooting

The only way to flash twrp is through fastboot. You flash it just like you flashed cwm. Download the all in one tool kit from the development section and follow the instructions on flashing twrp recovery. And once you are done clear cache using that tool kit
EDIT I shouldn't say it's the only way there are a few other methods but fastboot is the most common besides goo manager

I originally rooted my S3 with CWM Recovery, but now I want to switch over to TWRP. I downloaded it and installed it with ROM Manager, selected it as my recovery menu, but when it restarts, it still goes back to CWM. I can't figure it out anymore...
I'm running Resurrection Remix 4.4.2 for my rom if that helps.
Don't use rom manager, follow the instructions by the app author to flash your chosen recovery.
Go on TWRP site, download latest 2.7 for i9300 in .tar format and flash it using Odin. It takes less than a minute.

other option is to get the zip and flash in CWM
Don't use Rom Manager with any Samsung Device....
