changing from s6 to Edge - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi guys.. need some opinions here.
im using s6, & about to change to edge.
my main concern on edge :
1. the color bleeding & glare/reflective right at the Edge, is it very obvious?
2. read that edge max brightness on manual setting is much lower than s6. would that be problem?
3. both on same size but due to edges on both sides, does edge main screen appear smaller on hand/use?
would like to ask on handling, but guess it is a bit less comfortable than s6 right..
4. that pink effect that were said here (didnt came across on any review), can claim on warranty or not?
5. is auto rotate problem still exist? also, read that edge has connection/drop call issues, is it serious?
also i would be thankful i you guys can enlighten me on any other issues that plaguing edge but not on standards s6.
read/watch so many review & it seems s6 is a better version,
i also have no issue with s6, just that i like edge's beauty, so wonder if that is worth some tradeOff?
50/50 & having a 2nd thought while i'm about to change tomorrow..
trying to read some more.. yet to finish 1st thread here.
thanks a lot guys, really hope this wouldn't be an inconvenience to others..

The only problem I've had with my Edge was the rotation issue, but Sprint swapped out my device on 2 different occasions. Other than that I haven't experienced any of the other defects, I think it depends on which variant you get too.. The screen might feel smaller to you at first but the 3d effect the curved screen has gets me every time. It truly is a beauty to look at.

Got mine April 6th and have been loving it since. My biggest gripe is with the RAM management problems but that's a touchwiz issue.. Hopefully Sammy gets their **** together and fixes it because I'd like to be able to switch between more than 2 apps without getting a goddamn refresh.

yep.. 80% used even when nothing were going on..:crying:
ill make the switch & hopefully wont get a defect one...
if anything, the looks of the edge should overcome any isues its having ..
appreciated bro!:good:

I have not used the regular S6, but I've had my edge for a month and it's been great.
1. No color bleed for me and only the slightest glare in direct sunlight
2. No max brightness issues, can read the screen any time of the day
3. Can't compare, but the edge is not uncomfortable
4. Adaptive colors sometimes changes the color temp and gamma to warmer tones, but I've never seen the screen "pink"
5. Never had an issue with rotation or dropped calls.
I think the only other issue is that you'll titling your phone a bunch just to check out the edges. It's stupid, but it's also neat to look at that screen curve down.
If the edge cost the same as the regular, I don't think you'd be reading as many gripes about the edge. I think a lot has to do with justifying not paying the extra $$$. For me, the edge was the only reason I considered a galaxy phone in the first place as I was a nexus/moto user before this.

Screen Brightness So Dim Even On Full Brightness

Not sure if its me trying to adjust to the S6 Edge screen coming from a HTC One M7 or what but boy why is the screen brightness bad on the S6 Edge? Thought Samsung got better with these screens, I compared my S6 Edge with my mom's S5 and her phone was noticeably brighter, how?! Also, I saw reviews saying that under direct sunlight, the screen brightness can go pretty high and I tested it putting a flash light onto the sensor and wow did it make a difference, why can't we have that high of a brightness on this beautiful phone all the time?! sorry if this offends some people, just very disappointed with the brightness on this phone ugh.
Not sure what's going on for you, Im on auto but the slider is the lowest it can go and it's bright enough for everything except strong sunlight when I had to move the slider up a bit. The screen is bright, perhaps a setting or software bug?
Well now something is up. So I'm not even using auto brightness and the screen goes brighter in lighted areas and then dims when I'm outside at night, is this normal?

Do you have adaptive display set? This could be whats changing the contrast etc even though you don't have auto set.
I'm hoping that the custom based TW gets rid of the brightness lock or whatever Samsung tough was smart to do lol
wide spread issue right now...http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...-auto-brightness-issues-strange-glitch-5.html

I sent this video to the Samsung assistance in NL (where I bought the phone). They replied that they were not able to see the youtube video!! How can we expect they fix this bug if they are not even able to watch a simple video of youtube...are they monkeys or what at the Samsung customer care??

Let me tell you one thing. Samsung care or services or whatever they do are crap. They will try to find as much freaking way possible to avoid helping/exchage/repair. My device have camera blur issue ( when zoomed in ) yes zoomed in will blur but the blur is crap. Even my old note 3 can take sharper picture when zoomed in. My usb port is out of position and the separate plastic coating around it is broken. Regarding all these issue, Samsung said to me that it is not an issue and just minor and it can't claim for repair or exchange. Screw samsung in customer care. Their phone is great if you get a perfectly well builded phone. If your phone happen to have problem, you are gonna have painful days.

No problem. The phone is 850 euro, I returned and I didn't loose anything. Maybe I will in a month of so buy it again if it is solved. If there is any other issue, no problem, you have 14 days to return it.

I have the same problem I only noticed when I put my s6 edge next to regular s6 on max brightness the s6 screen is brighter, but when I turn on and off the auto brightness on the s6 edge the problem goes away till i lock the phone and it dim again, it's software bug, samsung too busy making money right now so it will take them min to get update fix.
Did android 5.1.1 update solve the brightness bug? I mean this seems really a huge bug how is it possible that samsung didn't come out with a solution yet?

Absolutely not. It's the first thing everybody disabled. It's not related to that. It's a bug of the s6 edge still not solved.
The Trivo guy said its a software issue. He said in a post somewhere that he installed the galaxy S6 ROM and the brightness issue was fixed. Hope its juts a software bug. Fingers crossed

Is this the same glitch going on or do I need to fix something?

"Dotted pattern" on the screen

Hey guys,
purchased an S6 Edge (SAMG925, european/international model) yesteday and I was surprised to find something I can only describe as a dotted pattern inside the screen. At first I thought maybe it had something to do with the screen/glass technology, but the more I think about it, the less sense it makes. I can only see it on bright backgrounds, for example while surfing or at the standard, green/blue background. It looks like three really, really small dots running diagonally up to the right. These three dots are all over the screen and it looks like they're almost forming a pattern. I literally have them everywhere, but make no mistake, this isn't scratches or just some random defect with the screen. It looks like they're meant to be there. I double checked with a display model in the store I bought it in and that one had the same "issue". I can only see these dots if I look put the phone up really close to my eyes and if I actually look for them. I've asked two others of my friends and both of them could see them easily after looking for a couple of seconds. Now, daily, this isn't an issue, but I was considering picking up the Gear VR for the S6 and I cannot imagine it WON'T pose a problem once you get up close with the lenses the Gear VR provides.
Anyway, question time: Are there anyone out there that has noticed the same thing? Or are your S6 Edge display flawless and free from a 3-dot pattern? :/
Capactive sensors more than likely for the touchscreen.
Post a picture, please.
I tried getting a photo of it, but I wasn't too successful. Got one that works, I guess. It appears to be sort of a surface-problem. It looks like grease, or even dust, but I know for certain that it isn't. I took a picture of my phone while reading my own post. If you look above the "d", you should see the first anamoly on the screen, then three more in a diagonal line. There's also a dot over the last y in yesterday, but that one is more unclear and harder to see. :/ Hope I'm not seeing things here and that someone else can confirm it looks weird. I cleaned my screen before taking this picture, btw.
I know what you are describing, mine is the same. It is so uniform in pattern that it has to be something to do with the gorilla glass or the touchscreen itself.
Mine had the same issue. But after 3 days they are no longer noticeables. Give them a few days and check again
My s6 edge is waay dimmer than my note 4 normal?
Same Issue
I picked up the s6 edge on the 10th and am noticing that same problem 4 days later for a premium smart phone that boasts it's screen being one of the best around, this is kind of annoying to see this issue.

Yes, I had this concern as well. As another user in another thread mentioned that the S6 on high goes up to roughly 450 nits, but in outdoors or in direct sunlight can go up to a crazy 750 nits which is much brighter than the Note 4. I have the Note4 and S6E. I put a flashlight to the front sensors on the Edge and that think got extremely bright, almost made my note 4 (on manual high) seem like it was on medium in comparison lol. It sucked at first, but then I realized when am I ever going to need it that bright indoors, and if i'm outdoors it will automatically kick it up to eye scorching bright!
I'm hoping mine does also. I love the device but having that surprise was kind offsetting.

Same here but mine is more like cloudiness or under-screen scratches, not dots. I noticed while scrolling on white backgrounds in any app.
The streaks are just the camera lens taking in light. Look closely at the center of each pic and above the word "UPDATE" in the Google News page.
I have the same problem dotted pattern inside the screen, i had to replace the s6 edge 3 times and they all have the same f**** problem.

I've given up on the issue as every s6 edge ive seen is like this. Even after having the phone since launch the issue hasn't gone away. I think it is caused by the digitizer having to use a different method because traditional ones do not work on curved screens? Haven't got a chance to compair to a note edfe but I wonder if it had the same issue.
Is this one of those things that can only be seen if it's pointed out and then it can be unseen?
My screen looks flawless...

How Does The Edge Screen Look In Pitch Darkness?

So I've been having a think about stuff I use my phone for most while I'm considering the S6 Edge or normal S6.
I love how the Edge screen looks in daytime when I've seen it in a store, but last night I was in bed reading pocket on my S4 as I often do...pitch black, pocket in night mode with white text running close to the margin on a black screen, and I suddenly thought hold on isn't this going to look really weird on the Edge?
Am I worrying about nothing? How does the edge screen look for reading text with zero ambient light where you can see only the screen and not the handset as a reference point if that makes sense.
If someone could upload a pic that would be awesome
Not that great, actually. To be honest, the edge is something I would elect not to have on the long run. Perhaps the regular S6 would have been a better option. Two months in, this is what I've realized. This is just my opinion though and I'm sure most would disagree.

Any chance you can expand on your reasons for that?
Really struggling to decide, love the Edge, but worried I'm not gonna love it for a whole two year contract.

Two main reasons: grip and glare. The grip of the S6 is amazing compared to the thin metal rail of the edge. It makes the phone look super thin (when it's actually thicker than the flat S6) but the handling takes a big hit. The S6 just feels better in the hand to me. Also, it's impossible to use this phone in landscape mode unless the room is pitch dark. Glare comes off both edges. I don't know, it really comes down to preference. I know people who wouldn't trade their edge for anything. To me it just feels like a gimmick, something I can easily live without and that it's absence would improve other elements.
i don't think so..for me this is so stylish and i don't have accident touches.. there comes no glow here..the night clock mode is fantastic..the edge is not that functional as it is on the note..but much nicer look..

S6 Edge screen problem!

Hi guys,
I haven't really seen much feedback from others regarding this problem and I am quite surprised to be honest. I've ordered my s6 edge 2 weeks ago and have been using it for a week without noticing anything.
I've read through some article a few days ago before going to sleep and noticed a terrible pink hue in the bottom half of the screen. I didn't see the problem when I was using the phone in daylight and with the brightness quite high.
So I've ordered a replacement straight away, which came in yesterday.
The screen which I got on the replacement is completely pink, its even worse than the one I already had. Now I was wondering if I just got so unlucky, but I've had 2 friends at work compare their screens to mine (one of them have the regular s6, the other has an edge) and they the exact same issue as mee, although the pink hue is near the top in the s6.
This is a dealbreaker for a phone this expensive in my opinion... If you don't see it thats fine, but once you notice it it gets really annoying.
I've uploaded a short video with the first s6 edge I got, the replacement and my note 4 to show you the issue:
https://youtu.be/ob_5RjF4lPU
The note 4's screen is basically the same resolution and technology and its flawless. I don't know if this is some kind of manufacturing or quality control problem but I think samsung should sort it out.
The version I've got is the s6 edge gold platinum with 32 gb of memory. I would like you guys to take a lok at your screen and let me know if you got the same thing.
The best way to do so is to set it to a decent brightness level, screen mode to go for is "basic" and look at it in the dark, on a plain white background or with some text like I did.
Thanks for helping out!
Unfortunately I'll be returning both of these phones for now and I'll either wait for some later production or have a look at the note 5 or s6 edge plus...

Back when the phone was first released (April), there was plenty of discussion on this. It is a quality control issue.

How bad does the curved display affect visibility?

Hey guys,
I'm torn between the S6 & S6 Edge. I read a review that the S6 Edge curved display effects visibility obviously because it curves away from the screen.
Can anybody comment on how bad this is as it's the only thing putting me off at the moment?

There is some glare/reflections on the curved edge, however for me personally its far from an issue.
Some may find this more annoying than others but dont let this sway you away unless this very slight issue will irritate.
Good luck

I couldn't have said it better.
To be honest, i don't watch movies etc on my phone at all, occasional youtube videos.
Appreciate the help guys.
Can't wait to get my hands on it, I had the S3 from new and it died from SDS (eMMC failiure) and so I bought an Xperia Z dirt cheap (worst phone in the world)
