How to convert efs folder to img or tar file? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys can I convert efs folder to an img or tar file. Because I've flashed a custom rom without backing up my efs in a img or tar file.
Does anyone knows how to convert it guys?

Makes no difference what format the backup is, as long as you make one before you flash.

You mean. I can convert it to a flashable zip and flash it on recovery.?

You can do what ever you like, provided the efs wasn't corrupt before you made the backup.

Best way to backup /efs?

I'm going to flash Nebula ROM when the next beta is released, but I was wondering if it matters how I backed up efs? As in, does it matter if I just copy it using file explorer and then package it as an uncompressed TAR, or do I need to extract efs.rfs using adb commands? I'm new to flashing ROMs so I don't know what the difference is if there is one.
Is one way easier? From what I gather, .rfs has to be flashed but .tar only has to be extracted into the correct folder.

[Q] Please help! I lost all my backup files!

Hey guys, I used TWRP to back up files, then by mistake :silly: I used format data instead of advanced wipe!
So I lost everything on my mobile with the back up files! :crying:
Now I googled file extension for TWRP back up, it was .WIN
Even though all TWRP backup files carry the extension .win, they are either tar archives or filesystem images. System, data, cache and .android_secure are backed up as tar archives or gnu-zipped tar archives if compression is enabled. You can rename those .win files to .tar (.tar.gz if compressed) and extract them like a regular archive. Boot and recovery partitions are backed up as .img files using dd.

So is there any program that I can use to restore the back up files? (.win files) If not, How can I restore at-least the pictures, videos, messages, contacts.. etc?
If someone there can help me, please do! any little info can be useful! :good:
Thank you.
any help please!

The steps can vary somewhat depending on the device. I'm assuming it's some sort of a Chinese device, most likely a tablet, with the uboot file... What's wrong with just having the nandroid? It's not like you can't share that with others if you're needing to.

Its not about sharing. I've just bricket my phone. But i had a nandroid backup. I restored it but nothing happened. So i made a cwm flashable zip using kitchen and included only system.ext4 file and boot.img file. and i stuck at boot loop. I think i'm doing something wrong. i just wanted to ask if uboot.img is essential for cwm flashable zip?

Well, if a nandroid didn't work, then not likely that making a flashable CWM zip with the same files would make any difference. You might just need to flash the stock firmware and start over.

How to Flash a ROM with boot.img and System folder only?

HI! Is there any way to flash a custom rom using PC?
SP FLash tool needs a scatter file
but my ROM doesnt have any.
I tried to make my own scatter file but I cant find the system.img
The system.img is a folder
how can i convert the system folder to system.img?
PLS HELP
Ive done this but it was year's ago while making an odin flashable firmware for sgh-t599. Sorry to say I can't remember the procedure but I used guides so the info is out there.
You'll need Linux, and you must know the size of system partition and if it need to be raw img format or sparse img format.
With the right commands these img's can also be extracted straight from a working device.
