Hello everyone, been a while that I've messed with an HTC phone but here is the run down. I traded for this Verizon HTC One Max and it came with Candy5 rom installed. Everything was working fine until yesterday it randomly shut down and would not turn back on (none of the tricks with the hardware buttons worked). The Back and Home button were lit up so I decided to let it die. This morning I turned it back on but it would only boot loop with no chances of getting into TWRP. I tried ADB and nothing. After searching, I got my hands on a Verizon RUU and decided to use it. It detected the phone and it went through the process and gave me the "congrats" prompt. It rebooted on its own and got stuck in a boot loop at the HTC Logo screen. I still have access to the HBOOT screen. Here are my stats:
RELOCKED
T6WL PVT SHIP S-OFF RH
CID-VZW__001
HBOOT 2.49.0000
Radio -1.36.60.0520
OpenDSP v33.120.274_T6.0029
I tried a factory reset and that did not work either. I just want to go back to stock and get this thing back up. Any help? This is the RUU I used.:
0P3PIMG_T6_WL_K44_SENSE60_VZW_MR_VERIZON_WWE_3.09.605.2_HSM_Radio_1.36.60.0520_NV_VZW_4.60_002_release_385874_signed_1
I also used an Encrypted zip as well. I did notice that when I turn it off and then charge it, TWRP boots up but it glitches out with the battery charging animation. I tried to quickly press on some of the buttons like Wipe or Reboot but they don't work.

You can always try this way but it's basically the same way as running the RUU... Look at the bottom at this page. http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/htc-one-max-update/

I just tried it and it came back saying there is no software for my phone. I used an Encrypted RUU.zip and then flashed a TWRP zip. Everything seems to be flashing perfectly but it just refuses to boot! I did notice that when I turn it off and then charge it, TWRP boots up but it glitches out with the battery charging animation. I tried to quickly press on some of the buttons like Wipe or Reboot but they don't work. Tried relocking it and now it says RELOCKED. This is going down hill.
Any update on this Bor? This seems exactly as what is happening tome just now....the battery with the TWRP glitch and all. I'm all ears to hear if you are up and running again....and hopefully without a complete re-flash as I haven't made a nandroid backup of my CM12.1 build!

hboot 1.40, S-Off, was running decks sense rom. Restarted the phone and bam nothing but boot loops, no changes in kernel or anything. I have a Nandroid that does the same thing, even flashing another rom same thing.
I've wiped all caches, data, even formatted through twrp. Still nothing. Any other ideas? The battery at the time of restart should've been around 85% or so, I've done battery pulls, right now I've got it off on the charger, figured might try and top it off and see what happens.

in recovery, mount your usb and backup your sd card files. delete all the files except the rom and try reflashing. maybe an issue with a file in android secure? good luck
Flashing now, just put a diffrent SD with a ROM on it to see what happens. Hoping it works
*Edit* No go, still looping, just shows the white HTC screen, then restarts, doesn't appear to boot at all

May have to try flashing and booting with ADB. Never messed with it myself so I can't help you there.
thats what I'm trying to figure out now.
Thanks for the help though
Have you tried booting without a microSD card in?
Yeah, just updated to the latest 1.03 twrp. Reflashing now, seeing if that helps.
*edit* no go on that either. Next thing is an RUU update.zip
*edit 2* can't figure out how to use logcat during boot, but using the copy recovery log to sd option, gives me a log that is empty.
Ran RUU for 1.13, ran succesfully, still wont boot though.
Hboot still shows s-off though
Running PG86IMG of 1.13 was a no go. Trying 1.11 next

you won't get back to s on until you issue fastboot command to do so.
That's odd that you seem to have gotten a death loop out of nowhere. When you tried the ruu did you use the .exe or the PG86IMG.zip?

I've ran both the .exe and PG86IMG.zip, I'm running the one for 1.11 now.
I'm trying to keep it S-Off, but I'm thinking of changing it back to S-ON, and running the RUU again.
It seems to stay at the white HTC splash screen for a little longer then normal, then it's like the phone just reboots, it charges, I can change recoveries, flash roms, kernels, wipe, it's fully functional, other then when I flash rom, update.zip, RUU. It just boot loops on the white splash screen.
Wonder if I should try reflashing, radios, nv, etc...
Getting quite frustrated now, tried a diffrent battery, same thing.
I get ZERO errors with anything, I can flash, RUU, fastboot, everything, I get no errors have no problems writing anything to the phone. The damn thing just bootloops at the HTC splash screen!
Only thing I haven't done is S-ON, but I'm probably gonna do that and head down to the store, and see whats up. I just don't want an hboot 1.5
I wonder if some how my partitions got corrupted or the tables are incorrect, is there somewhere I can attempt to repair/restore that?
Got a replacement on the way, if anyone has any more ideas I'm listening. Especially since it's possible the replacement maybe updated to the latest OTA.
Damnit! Was hoping someone would save the day. New phone = hboot 1.5
Hello all, I need some help if there are any ideas what could be going on with this phone. I can usually fix my own phone problems, but this one has stumped me...
I bought a rezound dirt cheap that was stuck on the white HTC screen and would not boot into the stock rom. At the time I bought it, it was s-on and I could get in the HBOOT and run fastboot commands.
Since buying it, I have tried many things to get this thing working. I've tried to RUU (with PH98IMG and .exe) and apparently after it completes it is once again in a boot loop on the white HTC screen. I have been able to unlock and flash a custom recovery onto it (amon-ra) and install any cm/aokp rom onto it and boot into that. The only issue with that is when in the rom, my wifi and bluetooth will not connect at all. It wont even toggle on in settings and it is not greyed out. 4G and everything else seems to work ok.
At this time, I'm thinking there is some kind of hardware failure but I'm open to suggestions.
In summary...
I have been able to s-off
I have tried different firmware combos of HBOOTs/radios
I have flashed custom recoveries and roms and can boot into them without wifi or bluetooth
I have been unsuccessful to RUU to anything stock, it'll just boot loop the white HTC screen
Right now, I have installed Tron 2.1 onto it. I did notice post:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2272781&highlight=no+wifi
When I go into system/lib, there was no /modules folder. I went ahead and created it and put in bcmdhd.ko and rebooted, but still no go. I'm not sure why the /modules folder was missing, but this reaches the extent of my knowledge on what is supposed to be there.
I believe I have tried everything and done fairly thorough searches to get this phone working properly and am at a loss what to do next. If anybody has a thought of something to try, I'm all for it. Fortunately if this phone doesnt work out, its not a big deal to me.
I don't want this to sound like another "stuck on HTC screen" thread. I have been through all those and this doesn't seem like the same problem.
Your help is greatly appreciated!

i would like you to do the following.
flash this http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...ull-ruu-build-4-03-605-2-for-the-htc-rezound/
2 times. it will make sure we have a solid base to work on.
after that has ran 2 times. boot into the stock rom one time.
after that flash this https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/12405441/new.global.firm.PH98IMG.zip
once this is done let it boot into the rom.
from here you should be good to flash any rom that is out there to date. (note please dont restore any system data, only app data)
ALSO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE 100% battery. doing an ruu can brick the phone if its interrupted.
report back when done
Thanks for replying. I have flashed that RUU several times in a row in the past, but I'm redownloading it now to make sure my copy isnt corrupt. Earlier experience when I double flashed this it still remained a white HTC screen loop.
Currently estimated at 6hrs to download, so I wont be able to reply for a bit with my findings...

When the Rezound first came out a bunch of people had boot loop problems because the phone was set to wcdma or some such thing instead of cdma. I'm just a noob hack but that's my memory of it. The cure was to boot without the back cover on which contains the antenna and then change the setting.
Ok, I have re downloaded the AndroidPolice RUU and flashed twice, but was not able to boot into it no matter how long I waited (20 min+). It would just loop the HTC white screen. I then went ahead and flashed your global update firmware and have the same result after waiting (20 min+), it just loops the HTC white screen.
I have tried this process several times last night, but still no progress.

S/he ran the RUU so they are stock.
Sounds like the symptoms of a kernel issue. Try pulling the boot.img from this stock OTA ROM and flashing it.

I have the exact same you. Been this way for months. Maybe once a month BT/Wifi will turn on but only for a few hours maybe. Phone will reboot itself and come back up with the 2 broken again.

Well I finally booted into stock sense after flashing that boot.img which is a big step from before. For a brief moment, it saw wifi networks in my office but when I went to connect to one, wifi died and it no longer sees any wifi network. Bluetooth appears to still be an issue as well, i.e. will not turn on.

can you explain what you mean by flash the ruu twice once I have saved it to the root of my sd card? Does that just mean get to the bootloader, watch as it reads the the ph98img file and let it do that twice, or do I need to reboot in between, or do I need to put in a command?

when you let hboot flash the zip, the first time is super short. it updates hboot, stock recovery, and splash i think. then it will reboot back to bootloader and ask to be flashed again. this time it will take some time to update because it does the whole system.

something doesnt seem right. the RUU would have flashed the boot.img for you. can you link me to the downloaded ruu that you have? also before you run the ruu did you do fastboot oem lock the bootloader?
Edit:
i remember an old trick from the inc days. after the RUU boot back into hboot and do a "factory reset" then boot into the phone. it use to fix the radio errors somewhere getting after a RUU. no clue why we did it. it just worked. try that when you are on stock recovery locked bootloader
Here is the RUU I have re downloaded. It was also the original I used in the past on my other Rezound
https://www.dropbox.com/s/1570h8l0ba1u7qp/rezound_AndroidPolice_4.03.605.2_PH98IMG.zip
I have also tried the RUU 3.14.605.12.exe and a couple other different RUU versions, but have the same issue with that as well. Even on MicroMod777's OTA-Global-Stock-4.05.605.14 710RD-Rooted 5/1/13 flashed through amon-ra, I get the bootloop. I have done these as locked and unlocked bootloader with no difference. I have also tried the factory reset with locked bootloader.... no go with that either.
I was only able to finally boot in to stock by fastboot flashing the boot.img, and that is where this phone sits now. My major issue at this point is I dont have wifi or bluetooth and have dug through numerous posts and tried different things, and nothing is working on it. What was strange as I said in my previous post, the very first time I was able to boot into stock sense by flashing the boot.img, it briefly saw wifi networks but disappeared and disabled as soon as I tried to connect to one. I have not been able to replicate that since then.
On a sidenote and possibly related, since this phone has been sitting at my desk I decided to try and flash Newt's NOS JB v1.0.0 ROM and it bootloops also at the droid eye screen. I never was able to get it going on this phone. My other rezound boots this just fine.
I think I have reached the limits of my android knowledge of what to try on this thing. I am satisfied with it not having wifi/bluetooth since my wife wont be using those features. I would like to understand what the heck is going on though.
Hello everyone,
I flashed dexter's jb rom, and missed a step. It would bootloop into htc screen and nothing else. I was able to access clockwork mod and hboot. I uninstalled clockwork mod and re-locked it, so I could use ruu. Now, it won't do anything else other than boot into hboot and turn restart. The light blinks orange a few times, boots and then reboots.
I tried a thread with a similar incident, but it seems like my case is unique. Any help would be appreciated.

@destruktor Are you S-OFF? S-ON? Bootloader locked or unlocked? Which HBOOT?

I've tried every HC version I could put my hand on but even though installation via RUU seems to finish successfully,
Android does not start, I keep getting a boot-loop.
i have the exact same problem but it hapenned in a different way... i think my battery died, then while it was dead, i put it on the charger, and then it just went in a bootloader loop.... it goes in the bootloader for 1 or 2 seconds, then it restarts, it goes to the bootloader again for 1-2 seconds again and again... it goes on until i pull the power cable... as soon as i plug it to the power, it starts looping like that and never stops for hours...:crying:
@yahavrave : You have several options : you can try to install a custom ROM or, if you're under HC with 1.11.0011, there many tutos to learn how to downgrade to GB everywhere.
@lebs4life : Hold Power button during 10sec, the phone will Power OFF & Reboot, but before it reboots : hold Power button + Volume down to enter in the Fastboot menu. There, you will be able to turn off you're phone, enter in the Recovery to flash a new ROM, ect
Hey guys I need a little help. Newb detail may be necessary
I was running Ecliptic Rez version 9 and went through the rumrunner s-off procedure and had the same problems as others (device not recognized etc.). I changed to TWRP from Amon Ra and flashed Tachyon as suggested in the Rummrunner thread. The ROM ran great for 4 days until this morning when I got a quick "messaging has stopped error" followed by "com.android.phone has stopped" error. I shut the phone down restarted and got the same error. I acknowledged the error and it looped the error until I shut the phone down again.
Here is where the noob comes in .... sorry
I held down volume key and power to get to the bootloader. Went to recovery thinking I could reflash the ROM, but got the green circle screen followed by the triangle red exclamation point screen. Did a battery pull, went back to the bootloader. I am kind of stuck here.
The only other info that might help is that my HBoot is 2.25.0000 and radios are 1.22.10.0421r/1.22.10.0424r. Maybe old Hboot with new ROM? I was planning on upgrading this weekend.
Any help on where to go from here will be appreciated.
Well I updated my ADB drivers got to recovery and Nandroided back to Ecliptic V9. I still have no idea what was going on. I kind of liked Tachyon, but just couldn't get past my problems.
sounds like your recovery needs reflashed, try reflashing it in bootloader put the ph98img.zip in the root of your sd then boot to bootloader
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1902381
So yesterday I had my Aria in my pocket and I guess the power button got nudged and the screen turned on, lo and behold I pull my phone out of my pocket to find the lovely words written on the screen that too many pattern attempts have been attempted and that the device is locked. Only problem is I use this phone for everything but the phone function, I don't even have a sim in there. So with WiFi off, and no mobile network I was stuck for a bit. But then I finally sat down with it and luckily I had kept USB debugging on so I used adb to hack it. And that is where my urgent problem starts. After finally unlocking it I decided to might as well upgrade it, it was running 2.0.2 I believe Liberated ROM with CWM. So I started browsing around because I haven't really worked with this phone before all that much, I ended up reflashing to stock rom and then was going to use a nifty tool to get my hboot to 1.02, well it worked, the nifty tool flashed my hboot alright, along with my ROM and everything else there was. I am now stuck with a brick, the phone goes to the boot logo and then reboots... over and over and over until I pull the battery. I was charging the phone the whole time while working on it and after the tool was done flashing the hboot I unplugged the phone and a long list of errors ran down the screen of files that the OS was missing. I can get into fastboot, haven't had luck with any reflashs, adb is dud (while in recovery computer recognizes the adb connection but adb only lists the device as inactive. Ever since I lost my Inspire 4G this was my only working mobile device. If you have any tips tricks or clues as to how or if it is possible to come back from this destruction I am all ears.
Thank you in advance :fingers-crossed:
To clarify a bit further, the part that screwed me was the Upgrade HTC Gratia HBOOT for AlpharevX S-OFF tool. It was chugging along just fine up until the very end. The original sites listed for making a gold card are all dead but I managed to find a working one. Now I am trying to figure out what went wrong and why.

First you should S-OFF your phone with revolutionary. Then you need to flash a working recovery image and reflash ROM from there. Should work. If this still doesn't work, flash a modified hboot from the Development forum and see if you have any luck with that...

I cannot get revolutionary to find the device, the system version is 2.37.709.11 and I cannot do anything, if I try flashing anything the sig verification always fails.
(EDIT: Well I got lucky, found an asian RUU with same version, reflashed phone, S-Off, flashed unofficial CWM recovery and unofficial cyanogen 11.)
The problem I was having with revolutionary not recognizing the device was because my hboot version was too old (0.57). I used this AT&T Update package to get back to stock 2.2 and revolutionary worked straight away.
