Looks like the retards removed this feature or am I blind? This featured was awesome in S5, but I can't seem to find where to disable this? I DO NOT want a message preview in the status bar when I get a message.
Thanks.
You are blind. Go to settings > sound and notifications you can set notifications to hide content. You can also do that per app if you like.

Thanks for the reply, but -- and with respect --, I call bull****. Can you specficy where I need to go more accurately? I do not want the SMS/message content preview in the status bare and of course (obviosly) I want to be able to get notified when an SMS is received, either by sound or vibration.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks, but! Have you even tried this? This is for lock screen, not status bar. It clearly says "lock screen". So am I still blind? Still need a resolution for my problem. Anyone else?

Anyway, care to give us a screenshot of your "problem" which may be due to user stupidity?

I appreciate your help and effort in this. Sorry for sounding ungrateful. I'm just so fed up with this I can confirm that this doesn't work. Maybe it's a problem only for some phones? Maybe it's like the problem with A-Z order in the app drawer. Some have this option, some don't (I don't).
So to sum this up: Under Settings -> Sounds and notifications -> Notifications on lock screen I have "Hide content". When the phone is on and unlocked, all messages I receive is clearly visible in the statusbar. But, while locked, the square notification for message shows that I have one new message, but it doesn't show the content.
Just an addition to the last post. The options I had on my former Galaxy S5 were like this: http://galaxys5guide.com/samsung-ga...off-sms-and-mms-message-preview-on-galaxy-s5/
I do not have these options at my S6 Edge. These options are what I'm looking for. Where are these?

Check your weather widget's settings. I've seriously never seen those on my Samsung. Only on my Desire.
I've been running a custom rom from the start.

Seriously, you never seen that before? It's always been there since I have had my GS2.
I am also on a custom Rom.
Also, there is no option to toggle this on or off. It's annoying because everytime I unlock the phone, I can't do anything until the animation finishes!
I also have never seen that before.has that animation been there when you first got the phone with stock firmware?

Hmm...
To be honest, I can not recall it never being there. As far as I can remember, It has always been there since day one. This is wierd, I can not be the ONLY one who has the cloud animation when unlocking the phone. am I? It is like how we get the animation on HTC Sense (Homescreen) but I hate it.
Does anyone with GS2 have the cloud animation like mine?
Mabey somebody owned the phone before you and returned it to the store.

Tapping the screen after the animation starts does stop it then you can do what you want.
If its beautiful widgets then as stated previously by simes6600 "go to weather widget settings>advanced and untick "unlock animations" "...
hey guys.
I do have BW installed but i don't use it. Neither WL nor FW. However, i have checked the settings on BW and unlock animation is turned off. Its not a big of deal but i would like to use my phone as soon as i unlock the phone. I can touch the animation (clouds) and it stops but does slow the phone down. I'm confused. I might try and uninstall them even though i don't use them and see if that makes a difference.

So i froze the discussed apps with titanium backup and guess what? It didn't work. More ideas anyone?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
OK guys, found the culprit! Lol!
It was along the lines of the previous suggestions!
It was a weather widget extra add on(which again i don't use)that had the unlock animation ticked.
I totally forgot i installed it. Lol!
this thread can now be closed.
I would like to thank you all for your help and suggestions.

Hi,
Since this morning, I've got a new indicator icon in my notification bar (at the upper left corner, the arrow with a minus sign in it, see this screenshot :https://www.dropbox.com/s/e68h3jsh9nc0m6v/2012-06-11 21.10.50.png).
Does someone know where it comes from ? I thought at "Ring scheduler", but this isn't the usual ring scheduler icon :-(
Thanks Seb
This is the icon for "notifications disabled", it simply hides the notifications. You can toggle this behavior in the shortcut list [next to energy saving, it's the letter "i" in a circle] when dragging down the notification bar.
Can't see the pic for sone reason but sounds like notification. Flick down the status bar and turn notifications back on.

Search is the only solution. Generally scanning the threads on the GS3 forums doesn't work. Too many official indian/UK/Australian/new Zealand/canadian/Singapore etc threads all over the place.

The image posted is a screenshot of "NiLS Lockscreen notification", app available from google play market. I find out that it works exactly like "cLock", the cyanogenmod system app that bring clock, weather or calendar like widget on lockscreen (infact this app bring a special clock with the notification system below).
So since i don't want a thirdy part app, can someone help me to do this? Maybe to replace the clock widget of "cLock" with the clock of this app...who's interested?
Can't you just remove cLock by long pressing it and dragging it to the trash bin? Then you can add the widget you want (the one provided by NiLS.)
If that's not what you want, can you elaborate a bit more?

cLock is open source so you could add the functionality yourself, I guess. But judging by your question, it looks like you want an easy way to magically merge the two apps into one? There's none. You can try looking for an app that offers both features, or use them both. I don't see what's wrong with using them both.

It's not simple enough to just tell you how to do it
FWIW, you can use DashClock. It supports extensions, and some of the extensions allow you to show notifications.
I still don't understand what's wrong with using two apps as long as they do what you want, though.

What empirical evidence do you have to back that claim?
I think what you mean is that a 3rd party app uses more battery than a system app, which imo is a broad generalization with no evidential backing whatsoever...
I use NiLS lockscreen widget, it works perfectly for me, and it doesn't use any battery that you'll ever notice.

I think you are referring to the Action memo floating window that opens from Air Command menu? If so, I suggest you cannot make that full screen by default. Instead your option is to manually resize it each time.
APP Settings probably only affects Action Memo screen where your saved notes are stored (it is already full screen right)
This seems probable, you agree?

OK so I tried posting this in the Alliance Rom forum but I guess that was the wrong place. So here its goes again. I'm having trouble fixing the color of the dialog pop menus. And even tried turning off the user dialog pop user option. That Didn't change anything and so tried changing the dialog pop up type theme but still a no go. I also tried changing the colors under the color setting but nothing seems to be working to fix that. Anyone got any other ideas how to fix this issue. Love the Rom but this is driving me crazy. Lol thanks for all your help!

Also pops up when setting up some widgets! Like hd widgets. Hope someone can help fix this issue. Thanks a million!

Nope just tried it on the power menu. No issues there! . I even installed a new theme and reset the colors back to how they are when you first boot up the Rom. So even with the default color set. It still shows the white dialog pop up menus. No idea how to fix it. It's not the end of the world but would like to fix It. Still a awesome Rom! Thanks

I don't think any of the settings in the ROM are going to fix it. I just noticed the dialog you're talking about while attempting to reply via the XDA app. I'm guessing the only solution is to decompile, change xmls then compile again.
