Hey guys,
Is it normal to have very weak signal on the moto e hotspot mode, or do you think the phone is malfunctioning? I'm using a tablet less than one meter away from the device and getting 1 or 2 wifi bars (out of 4). The range is also very small. When using the moto e with another hotspot it seems to be much better.
Thanks!

Hi, I am currently roaming and I saw that my data icon has an E on it. It is currently on a GSM network. However I wanted to know what kind of data connection I have and what the E stands for. I have attached a screen shot, the icon is 3rd from the right now counting the time. Thanks in advance.
E stands for Edge. Basically 2G speed. E=Slow. 3G=Standard. H/H+=Fast. 4G=Fastest

E stands for EDGE. You can also be connected via plain old GPRS (G icon), in my country it can only be found in remote rural locations. Both are referred to as 2,5G, however GPRS is unusable these days (less than 32 kbps).

I really want to get this phone, but my main concern would be the signal strength. I have very poor cell signal where I work. Only the iPhone 4s and Galaxy S4 maintained an acceptable signal at work. Other phones seem to constantly switch between 4G-LTE, 4G, G, and even E. Anything below 4G being unusable.
So how is this phone when it comes to the signal strength? Anyone else out there have a similar issue as me, and found the HTC One (M8) to show great reception?

I live in a dead spot for ATT coverage. My GS4 would only show 1-3 bars but the G4 LTE worked all the time. So far (one day) the One M8 shows about the same number of bars, and I've had no trouble with the connection. So bottom line (at least so far) I'd say it is equal in performance to the GS4.

Imo about the same as gs4, better than m7, WAY better than nexus 5. M8 WiFi better than any phone I have ever had.

Since switching from the Moto G to the Moto E 2015 I noticed that the mobile connection seems better.
In places where I used to have no connection on the G, I have s connection on the E (even though it's the same band).
On the other hand, the wifi connection seems weaker.
In areas where I used to have solid wifi on the G, the E keeps dropping it.
Is there a known issue or fix for the weaker Wi-Fi connection?
hi everyone. recently I've bought iPad air 2(working bluetooth(4.2) only / no wi-fi/no cell). so i decided i will tether over BT(4.0 LE) from moto e2. I don't know why, but up and down speed is limited to 0,18 kbps. I tried tethering from another device asus t00q(4.0) and got 1.6 Mbps. Meanwhile tethering from moto to my old iPad 2 (BT 2.1) I got 0.5 Mbps.
I am really confused why moto is working like that. I assumed that the problem is within standards, but i don't know how to turn off Low Energy(LE) mode in bluetooth of my moto e2. Please help...
Hi
I have the Moto e 2 to and to me Bluetooth tethering is always slower. Can't you use normal Internet tethering?
Unfortunately, no wifi and cellular don't work.
Greetings all, thanks for any help!
I got my Xperia Z4 LTE (US Version) Tablet, after being a longtime owner of a Xperia Z2 LTE Tablet which I left on an airplane to never see again.
And now I'm on a replacement unit experiencing some odd behavior that I chalked up to being a defective unit, but getting the same behavior on the replacement.
My Z2 would always show full bars LTE here in Los Angeles, but the Z4 is showing LTE no-to-low bars sitting right next to my LG G4 showing 4GLTE with full bars.
The weird thing is if I go into the About/Signal strength in the settings it shows practically the same signal strength on both my LG G4 and the Xperia Z4.
If I do speed test and get similar results on both devices.
But, If I switch to WCDMA preferred I get full bars! Weird.
Anyone have an idea what I am seeing? Is this normal? I mean it seems to work ok, but my OCD can't handle looking at my tablet with no to low signal strength!
Any help greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
-ben
Bars on my Z4 shows one to no bars, but the db strength via LTE discovery is -100db which is better than my Samsung S7 edge which shows 4 bars but -105 db in the application LTE discovery.
Hmmm...that's an interesting app. Gave me some new information that may explain.
One thing I got from running that app is that the devices show frequencies they are using differently:
My TMobile LG G4 shows:
DL EARFCN 19500-2399
UL EARFCN 19950-20399
DL Freq: 2110mhz-2155mhz
UL Freq: 1710mhz-1755mhz
LTE BAND 4
My Xperia Z4 shows:
DL EARCFN: 2300
UL EARCFN: 20300
DL Freq: 2145.0mhz
UL Freq: 1745mhz
LTE BAND 4
It appears that the TMobile branded LG G4 is using a range, and Xperia Z4 is locked on a single frequency, which may explain the low signal bars issue.
Can anyone confirm this? Is there a way to update the frequency ranges on the Xperia Z4 Tablet?
Thank all for looking!

My z4 tablet shows the exact figures per what your G4 you listed above shows.
I'm actually comparing the z4 tablet on T Mobile and a ZTE ZMAX pro right now. I don't know what most these figures mean.
I did notice however under the section neighbor cells the ZTE switches between 1 and 5 cells whereby the z tablet is only showing 2 neighbor cells.
Also more differences under the show advanced data section. Both devices locked onto band 4 LTE.
