[Q] Moto E won't do anything after firmware update - E 2015 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I have a Motorola Moto E.
After i Unlocked it in bootloader and erased all data with fastboot and adb. I did a recovery with TWRP.
I tried there many things because it said that there was no OS installed.
The last action I did was trying to install a firmware update. (OnePlusFirmware)
After that it asked for reboot so i did, but the screen remain black. I can't start it with hold or Vol Down + Hold. Also with the USB Cable to the computer it won't do a thing.
The only thing what I see is the LED light at the top Flashing sometimes.
It look likes bricked but many unbrick solutions required the bootloader/download mode and that can't I get to.
Can somebody please help me? Thank You

Oh boy, did you just say that you tried to flash a OnePlus One firmware update on a Moto E? Can you give a link to what you flashed?

Assuming you are on Windows: what does the device show up as in Device Manager when you plug it in? Also, while it is plugged in to your computer, press and hold PWR + VolDn for 10 seconds, then release PWR while still holding down VolDn for 3 seconds, then let go of VolDn too. After doing this, refresh the list of devices in Device Manager. What do you see in Device Manager then?
If you see something along the lines of QHSUSB-DLOAD, I'm afraid you've bricked your device. If you are in that state, it will have to be blank flashed at the very least, and certain device identifiers may need to be reprovisioned as well depending on how badly it broke it. I don't think the blankflash files are publicly available for this device, so if this is the case, you'll need to take it to Motorola for repair.
If you are able to get the bootloader to come up by following the steps I mentioned above, then you will probably be able to fix your device by flashing factory images.
If something else shows up, post it here and we'll see what can be done.
And remember, NEVER EVER flash firmware for a different device, particularly if it is a completely different device (like the OnePlus One).

Screen remain black. Also the device manager gives nothing too.
I think I'll bring it back to the shop.
Thanks for your advise. And yeah I'll do that never again

soft bricked my phone... desperate for help..

alright guys, so here's the story. just yesterday i bought a brand new lg v10, got it home and the first thing i did was root the device and used ADB to load TWRP following the instructions here on SDA to a T for the ROOT/RECOVERY setup. and it worked. all was fine and dandy, the first time i booted into TWRP via ADB after root i got in, flashed a debloated ROM + xposed and again, everything went fine.. loaded into the OS of the new ROM, went through setup, turned on USB debugging, clicked always allow this computer, installed xposed app yadayadayada. I then, using ADB again, loaded into TWRP. i created a backup there just in case something went wrong with the changes i was about to make and once the backup was complete i loaded back in to the OS. at this point i thought i had done everything right and was confident that if i made system changes that didn't work out i could just flash the phone with TWRP from the backup i made. right? WRONG! ...apparently... so anyways, i made my first change, which was to use a NONROOT app called texdroider or whatever to change my DPI (as i have done with a couple phones previously without much issue) but i didn't take into account that stupid second screen... making the DPI changes system wide, as i'm sure those of you that know this phone are aware, causes the systemUI to crash with an error.. making the OS unusable.. so i tried to load into TWRP by holding the volume down and power button.. but instead it just booted me to the factory recovery.. not TWRP... the phone is unusable within the OS, i can't get the phone to connect to adb to boot into twrp as i had previously, i can't seem to get the phone into download mode, and i can't boot to TWRP and the OS is junk at this point.. but it DOES say on the "LG" screen that the bootloader is unlocked so i'm really hoping i'm not completely out of luck.. but i am not sure what to do at this point. does anyone here know of anything i can try to get into a custom recovery at this point? if i could get into TWRP my SD card in the phone has a backup, the original image, not to mention i could pull the SD card and add anything i need via my pc and then boot back to twrp etc etc and i would have no issue fixing the phone... i really don't understand what i did wrong or why i can't boot to my custom recovery but i'm at a loss.. i'm just looking for a way to force the phone into a custom recovery... or restore the original factory image.. if you have any advice at all i would really appreciate it.
Thanks for reading
**UPDATE** this may or may not make things much easier... but I got download mode working!! so at least there's that, still no custom recovery and i'm currently looking for a KDZ or TOT file to flash via lg flash tool... hopefully that makes things easier..
When you say you got to the factory recovery, what was that, an Android on its side or something asking you to factory reset your device? If it was the factory reset screen, if you select yes and then yes, it will take you to TWRP if you have it installed. If you don't it will factory reset your device.

To boot into recovery from power off, you hold volume down & power. When you see the LG logo release and press power while continuing to hold volume down. Then as said above, it come up as a factory reset, select yes each time, and it should boot into twrp, providing you installed it correctly.

it was a screen asking me to do a factory reset, i click yes, it asks to confirm, i click yes again and then it "successfully" factory resets my phone... it shows the android factory reset symbol that its resetting, then says that its "optimizing apps" and goes through that whole process.. but when it finally loads the "welcome" screen (so i know for a fact that some sort reset has taken place) i get the same "systemui has crashed" error and the OS is unusable and won't connect to my computer.. idk why i can't access TWRP.. i booted to it 3 times before this happened, though never by the hardware buttons on the phone.. everytime i booted to TWRP i had used ADB to boot to TWRP.. what makes me the most sad is that i have a nandroid backup on my SD card... but i can't flash it without recovery.. which i can't install on the phone without getting into the OS..
is there any way to install TWRP or even boot to a temporary TWRP so that i can do so? if i can flash my nandroid i'm saved.. if i can get into a custom recovery i'm saved.. if i can find a .kdz file to flash, i'm saved... if i can get my phone to be recognized by my computer/adb i'm saved.... there simply has to be a way to unbrick this phone...

well i seem to have somehow NOT installed TWRP correctly because it just proceeds to factory reset my phone.. which for some odd reason doesn't reset the DPI... leaving me stranded... is there any way to get ADB to see my device in its present state? my computer makes the device recognition noise when i enter download mode and i can see it in device manager but not my computer or ADB
I've had this phone just over 2 months but I'm not positive, is download mode the same as the bootloader on this device? If so, fastboot commands should work, and you can flash TWRP again, or do 'fastboot boot TWRP_filename' and it will boot TWRP temporarily.
Oh, and the factory reset just wipes your data, but otherwise doesn't restore your system to factory state. That's why your dpi change remained.

dude.. then what good is a factory reset?!? like seriously... and yeah, i tried that but i can't get adb to connect in download mode.. the device doesn't show up when I type "adb devices" like it did when i first rooted it. ... and i thought i followed the instructions exactly as it was laid out from this link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-v10/general/guide-how-to-root-lg-v10-easy-t3274699
i think somewhere in there i must have missed something and ended up only booting into twrp temporarily.. which is certainly possible since i never boot to twrp during that initial process from the hardware keys or soft keys.. always through adb.. the phone was already plugged in.. typing the command was a couple keys away..
is there anyway to get TWRP on to the phone now? or am i screwed :'(
Well, it is a factory restore for the average user, because the average person isn't modifying their system. But no, I'm sure you're not screwed. If you're in the bootloader you can't use adb, you're already past that step, so you can skip to the fastboot part. What happens when you type fastboot devices? If the phone shows up then you can either fastboot flash or boot TWRP..

from what screen should i be attempting this? hold volume up with phone off and plug in to computer to enter download mode? should i try it at the factory reset screen (volume down plus power)? those are the only two screens i seem to have access to.. in download mode my pc/adb just doesn't recognize the phone.. it doesn't show up as a proper device like it did before this whole thing and in that factory reset mode i get nothing.. the download mode seems like its built for LG and runs from different drivers because in device manager it shows up with an error code that it couldn't start the device (this was not the case when i was using adb to unlock the bootloader and then using the bootloader to boot to TWRP..) what am i missing?
and hey, thank you so very much for taking time out of your day to help me. I really do appreciate it.

No problem buddy, and sorry for the confusion. You want to be on the bootloader screen, so here is what you can do: turn the phone off(or remove the battery if you have to, and put it back in), plug the usb cable into the computer only(not phone), hold volume down on phone, plug the usb cable into the phone. That should get you into the bootloader, and then you should be able to fastboot flash or fastboot boot TWRP.
Waiting for a resolution to this thread!

I'm pretty sure others have come through this exact situation unharmed (I've pretty much read every thread here.) so it's only a matter of time before you get this figured out.
Here's hoping it's sooner than later.
Sorry I can't offer more besides encouragement!

@ngoblirsch Along with the information provided in these suggestions and what you have said, you need to reinstall your LG/fastboot drivers on your PC while in fastboot mode

I spent all damn day yesterday trying to figure out how to get to the bootloader on this phone.. everything i read online said to hold volume down PLUS power while plugging it in and it was NOT working lmao. dude, thank you so much. after i read that comment here it took me about 30 seconds to connect to adb and boot to TWRP. Well I appreciate the encouragement, it sure seems to have helped! Issue has been resolved. ended up that i just didn't know the hardware key combination to get to the bootloader/fastboot mode without being already connected to adb. nothing that i could find online said to hold volume down while plugging it in to a computer. as soon as i was able to do so i connected to adb and it was a breeze from there; I am now back with an OS AND a customer recovery properly installed on the device!! I will be hanging around these forums for as long as i have this phone so i'm sure i'll bump into you guys! absolutely love the community here on XDA, you guys are freaking awesome!!

Bricked Sony Xperia Z3v (D6708)

Hello,
I have recently made a horrible mistake, I flashed the incorrect ROM on my Xperia Z3v leaving the phone bricked. I am asking for your help. I have tried using the Flashtool but I am not certain if it's the phone or I that is causing a mistake. The steps thus far that I have followed.
Downloaded: Flashtool & Drivers
Installed: Drivers for Xperia Z3v
Downloaded: Firmware from XperiFirm
Now, the issue next is nothing shows up in my firmware when I attempt to flash. I have checked the source folder the .ftf files are there.
Furthermore:
When I hold VOL UP and plug in the USB>Blue led is indicated
When I hold VOL DOWN and plug in USB>Red flashes with a second of green whilst vibrating
Found this video on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtaUxuorVSA
Exactly like this, checked for a solution seems like he repaired it via sony. Unfortunately for me I don't have that luxury.
**Update**
I installed the lastest release of flashtool (0.9.22.2) but it occurred to me to revert back to the previous release (0.9.18.6)
Now I can finally see the firmware but I am still having issues actually flashing the file. I get errors such as:
ERROR - root : this bundle is not valid
ERROR - Cannot delete C:\Users\Juan\.flashTool\firmwares\prepared\userdata.sin
**More Information**
I should include I am on a locked bootloader
same
that seem the same with my situation

Okay the green light is flash mode / upgrade mode. The blue light is fast boot. You want it on with the green light on to flash it once it's bricked. You can't flash it using fast boot mode because the boot loader isn't unlocked.
Now what you have to do is get it with the green light on and then the drivers installed.
Can't delete the file means that it had error while trying to flash and all that you have to do is restart the app and that goes away.
Now for the next problem is that I had this one and what I did to fix it is that I had to reinstall the drivers because those weren't correct and I did reinstalled it and it all worked good. Thanks.
Download the correct firmware for your phone (model and Country).
Use flashtool to install it on your phone
Works with a locked bootloader, no need for USB debugging.
The first error might be you ended up downloading the incorrect or incomplete firmware
I had the exact problem that you are having. I ended re downloading the flashtool a few times from various computers and then i got it to work. I figured when i downloaded it the first time i had a version that was to old/new. Or a bad connectiin when i downloaded it first time. After i downloaded flashtool again itthwn worked without issue just as it should. Whatever the provlem was for me was having to do with the download or version i downloaded wouldnt work completely. I think my internet connection when i downloaded it wasnt very good and maybe didnt download it right.
I made the same mistake too, trying to flash a z3 zip file. Then I got to run around my home city to find help. Then there's a guy. He had to open the back cover and connect directly to the circuit board in order to do something about the eMMC and SEtool or... something, I'm not sure. The phone is alive again! (costed quite a lot for a student, but... yay?). Funny though, he said the circuit board is similar to a z2 and not a z3. Maybe you could find someone who knows about these kinds of thing. Hope that help.

Yeah, I think? I mean, it's right out of the box. Also, I think it's worth mentioning that the guy had to use SEtool twice to get mobile signal.
Did you fix the problem? I have the same problem now.
With a Z3v. D6708. I have a problem, got a wrong ROM, the flashee and now not start the phone in any way. The only way to start is "System Recovery" volume + power, which has 4 options: 1. "Continue Power UP", 2. "Safe mode", 3. "Factory Reset" and 4. "Power Down". The thing is try from flashtool but when I give "volume down" and connect the computer does not recognize. When light it even reaches the boot animation. When I give power with USB cable is connected in a loop is vibrating and shows red, blue and green.
I have exactly the same problem of the youtube video.
As it could fix the problem?
Some help ?
Thank you !

Bricked for days!
Is anyone still following this thread. I have the same problem after trying to install MIUI 6 on my rooted unlocked TWRP'd Xperia z3V. After the MIUI installation I have nothing but the symptoms below.
Not able to get into flashmode
No screen or bootup
No recovery
Symptoms:
1 -When plugged into PC or wall it only blinks RED/GREEN light and vibrates.
2 -Holding POWER the light turns and stays GREEN until released (then returns to #1)
3 -Holding POWER + VOLUME UP BLUE light stays on and puts phone in Fastboot mode
4 -Holding POWER + VOLUME DOWN does nothing (continues to do #1)
Please Help!!!
Google Sony Developers. Try to unlock your bootloader.

I think the phone will reject the command. Tried on a bricked z3v and that's the response I get from fastboot with the Sony commands given through the developer aite.

The phone is not and most likely never will be bootloader unlocked. Planning to buy for another phone is your only option.
I've already moved to a tmo note 4. Not much development there either, but it's nice. Miss the z seires though and may come back to it next year. We'll see how they fair with phones for the next few months state side abs if prices even out on the x or z5.

Unless you're going to post a link or YouTube video we all have access to, wouldn't bother asking people for direct email addresses to send them. That's the reason for PM'S and the forum on general. If you have a fix, we'd all like to know what it is you were able to do that none of us have figured out.

What happened before arriving at the error? I had a G5 and hope that won't occurred.

To enter download mode:
Turned phone off by removing the battery
Reinserted the battery without the USB cable plugged in
Pressed volume up and kept it pressed
Reinserted the USB cable while still keeping volume up button pressed
(As I mentioned, this didn't work the first few times around and I don't know why. Apparently, persistence paid off.)
To reflash the stock ROM:
Google-searched for this phrase: lg firmware h850
Note: I'm not yet allowed to post links. Your results may vary. There was a result at a domain which includes the words "lg" and "firmwares". That one I chose. Hope that's vague enough.
Also note that there are other sources of this image, I'm sure I've seen something here on the forums.
Downloaded the image H85020i_00_OPEN_EU_OP_0628.kdz (I had trouble with an image version that was less than 20i (10c I believe). Again, your mileage may vary.)
Booted into Windows because (sigh) LGUP, which is used to flash the above image onto the device, is only available for Windows
Acquired UPPERCUT along with the correct version of LGUP and the latest drivers
Started UPPERCUT which in turn started LGUP
Note: this will only work with your device connected and in download mode.
Selected the image mentioned above (click the File path column of the BIN file row if I remember correctly), selected upgrade, started and waited
Had a cup of tea to calm me down after a day's work of messing with my phone
After the phone rebooted, I reset it to factory settings
(you may run into an issue here with a password that you're supposed to enter, don't remember what I did there but as far as I understand it entering it wrong enough times will factory reset your phone as well)
[Optional stuff from here on out I guess]
Unlocked the phone again (fastboot flash unlock unlock.bin)
Flashed TWRP again
Installed LineageOS again
Hope that helps, good luck with your phone!

Lg Harmony Lm-x210cm With Only TWRP

I have an LG Harmony, model LM-X210CM. Through a botched rooting job, the device has nothing on it except TWRP.
When I first boot, I get the "Your device software cannot be check for corruption. Lock the bootloader. PRESS THE POWER KEY TO PAUSE BOOT. Your device will boot up automatically after a while."
I tried to use the LG Mobile Support tool to access and restore the factory image (not sure if that software even does such a thing), but the program doesn't recognize the phone as being plugged in, though Windows 10 does and gives me access to the internal storage.
I am able to boot the phone into TWRP by holding down Power and Volume Down.
I'm thinking that if I acquire a stock ROM, I can get this phone going again. But two questions arise: where on Earth might I find a non-sketchy ROM, and will this fix the "Your device software cannot be check for corruption...." message when I first boot?
Thanks for your time and consideration.

If your device has TWRP, then you can download the firmware from the LG official website of your device. Although you must seek the exact firmware for your country or region. I hope this helps! If you need more help, let me know.
I'm also using a lmx210cm. Although, it's a fortune 2. I tried using Twrp 3.1.3 ... I think, didn't take. What version did you use?
i didn't see my answer, perhaps it's hidden ... so excuse me if i'm repeating myself. sorry, but i'm not allowed to post hyperlinks ... i'm not sure about just posting the link, which is LGs site for the firmware. neither are labeled "Harmony" though, although they are for the lm-x210cm.

Hard Bricked

Hi.
Long story short I hard bricked my LG V30 (I never thought it would happen to me, lol). I have no access to TWERP, download mode or fastboot. I only get the "no command" message.
Reset button dance doesn't do anything except go to no command.
Is there any last resort or should I sell it for parts (as it's in perfect condition otherwise?)
It's the H931
Kind regards,
ZabbenW
You said that you have no access to recovery or download mode, but, just in case and before you do anything risky, verify that you've tried the following exactly:
To enter recovery:
1. Turn off the phone by holding down the power button for several seconds.
2. Hold down the Volume Down and power buttons simultaneously.
3. When the LG logo appears, release just the power button and then press and hold it again.
4. Continue holding both buttons until the "Factory data reset" menu appears.
5. Choose Yes twice. With TWRP installed, it will enter that rather than perform a factory reset.
To enter download mode:
1. Turn off the phone by holding down the power button for several seconds.
2. Hold down the Volume Up button.
3. While still holding it down, connect the phone to a Windows PC with a USB cable.
You can now run patched LGUP on your PC and flash a KDZ.

That's what you need to do. It's somewhat involved, but at least you're not risking anything: The phone is already bricked
Sorry, this is completely unrelated from the current topic but I reallly need help..I tried to flash a rom on my HTC but thr preloader got corrupted xo my phone go hard bricked. Pluging the phone into a computer just shows a red led and the computer shows nothing in device manager.
I tried uninstalling the MTK Preload VCOM driver and reinstalling it but that still didn't work.
Even pressing volume keys while connecting still gave nothing.
I also tried disconnecting the battery and reconnecting the phone to the computer but still nothing.
If there is anyone, please help me.....
I need to unbrick my phone................... I am begging, please help me.

This is a forum for the LG V30. You should look for help in whichever forum is for your HTC (or for the most similar model):
