My wife sent me a Galaxy s T959 (2.3.6UVKJ6)claiming it wasn't working. The thing is the usb port is broken only. I can use it by charging the battery externally,so no issue. But...i need a way to root / Install twrp (it roots too) on this phone without usb. Be gentle with me,this is a community after all. Thanks...

X10 with stock 2.1-update1 (2.1.1.A.0.16)
Problem description:
- I can't connect my X10 to PC through USB (broken USB connector in the phone)
- I've tried z4root, X10Root, Universal Androot (non of them worked)
Question:
Is there other way to root without USB cable (through wi-fi, bluetooth, other working one-click, etc.)?
Btw. I wan't to root my X10 to upgrade system to 2.3 (through xRecovery or else) and it's impossible to do stock upgrade without USB cable...
You have a warranty? Change

U also cant update to 2.3 with broken usb and for 2.3 u need .71 baseband and latest kernel for which u have to flash them through computer using usb cable...
So,..as they said before, the best way is to fix the port to save time....actually it's the best u can do..u won't have to take off battery and SD every time u want to get some music from PC

Sorry really off topic but you dont need to do that anyway, i just use wifi browser and send rar files to my fone using my internet browser then unpack them on my fone
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I don't have warranty, that's the problem. And I was in 2 service points, both said that it is impossible to repair my USB :-(
It's not a problem for me to use card reader/wifi/bluetooth to transfer files phone-pc or pc-phone. Problem for me is that without working USB I can’t update from 2.1.1 to 2.3. In fact, I can’t do anything that is needed to update to stock or custom (uptade, root, recovery mode, etc.)… :-(
Hi there is it possible that that someone could mess up a samsung galaxy s2 by flashing an incorrect rom to it?
I bought one second had and the phone chrges fine but always says device not recognised when plugged in via usb.
Thanks rob
Yes, of course. If you flash wrong, your phone can brick. Try to flash an original rom without mods, using Odin, and see how your phone behaves. If it's ok, with the USB connection working, then you flash a custom rom and can really expect it to be fully functional.
Hi Guys
Just got a used Galaxy S2 but the usb is broken, it wont chrage nor onnect to a PC. I knew this before hand so its al good but i was trying to root using a method on these forums by rebooting into recovery and installing busybox and CWM but when ii go to do that in recovery, go to external sd,there are no files.
Im slightly stuck, not sure how to root without usb access. Phone has gingerbread 2.3.3.
Any help is appreciated

Transfer the file to your sd card through your wi-fi connection and then just follow the steps on that guide.
Oh and yeah, you might wanna upgrade to ICS (get an ota update if usb is not working)
I'd suggest other methods to root GB but nothing comes to my mind if your usb is screwed.
My brother has given me his old Galaxy S3 phone, which is great, but.... the mini USB port is broken! I have to recharge the battery externally (will be buying a spare battery and external charger soon!)
I've managed to unlock it OK, but I like to root and add new ROMs and generally mess with my phones. I've had a dig around and the only rooting etc instructions I've found involve connecting to your PC. The USB is completely dead, I can't use it for charging or connecting to the PC.
Is there a way round this? Presumably once I am rooted and have CWM I can flash ROMs away to my hearts content IF I can get over this hurdle.
Any pointers much appreciated
Al
(PS - anyone know how easy it is to replace the mini USB port??!)

Maybe just borrow other USB? Or why did your brother give you his S3,maybe he bought a new phone,so use his USB.
Btw,as I know USB's aren't expensive. Just buy new one yourself.

I think he means that the usb port on his device is broken, not the cable or charger, so he can't connect it to the pc to flash stuff.
I think you may be out of luck unless the rom is that old one that has the exynos exploit.

Whoops,misread that. Sorry
thanks guys. Will see how to move this to correct forum! (previous recent phones have been Chinese imports, I'm not used to multiple sub forums for just one phone!)
The Rom is 4.1.2 if that helps?

Try this, the app ckecks if device is exploitable and i think it can root. If you can root you can use mobile odin to flash a custom recovery then you can flash anything or keep using mobile odin to flash stuff.

Thanks for the pointer Kadopt. Sadly when i click on "Root device" it says "FAILURE: Could not root device"
Any other ideas out there?!
Just root using framarooot if u using old firmware

Tried all the Famaroots, thanks for the thought. My baseband is i9300xxella which seems to be an up to date-ish one unfortunately
You could replace the motherboard but that isn't cheap. I haven't done it myself but I believe there are ways of rooting without a PC if you have an older firmware

Hello,
I got Cyanogen installed on my phone, but I need to send it to service (its still on warranty) because USB port is broken.
Is there a way to install stock firmware without using USB cable? I've got 2nd Galaxy S2, so I can charge up battery. And I can download ROM directly to phone, or just insert SD Card with it.
Thanks for answers.
Mobile Odin (By Chainfire) might do the trick.
