Thank you very much!
I am hesitant to root my phone because of this.
I want to root my phone to remove those apps/processes that automatically run in the background because it really eats up my ram. Also, without affecting the capability of updating it to ics.
I would like to ask what is the best method to root my phone (wt19i) without unlocking the bootloader?
Thank you very much for the response.
check this for rooting-

You'll be able to do so somehow, don't worry, using flash tool or Wotan. Don't worry, where's will, there's a way... And in here, will is always turn on.

there are methods to root and install cwm without unlocking the bootloader (atleast for the 2011 xperia line),I havent unlocked the bootloader and still have tried flashing files to the stock rom
If the bootloader is locked,u will get official updates, otherwise u can flashtool to flash the new firmwares(obviously the .ftf files will be made available on file sharing websites).

How to re lock boot loader of Xperia mini ST15i ?

I have unlocked the boot loader of my ST15i and flashed CM7.2.0 . The phone is working great. Now I also want to know how to re lock bootloader so that I can update with SEUS when ICS will be available from SE after 3 months.
I have seen a method for Xperia arc in its forum. Can I follow that ? Is it reliable ?

As per my knowledge its not possible to get bootloader relocked as it was and get the DRM back,
but you can try this method to use sues and all that stuff
Don't forget to read block red letter line
By this you will be able to update phone software and all that stuff, try at your own risk as i haven't tried to relock my bootloader by this method. And its for Xperia Arc as you said but can be useful for ST15i too....
Refer link Relock Bootloader Of Xperia Models video tutorial
Finally i i took a brave step and tried the relocking procedure of Xperia Arc on Xperia Mini and it worked I was having my heart in my mouth all the time . Before relocking i flashed my Xperia Mini with Stock ROM using WotanServer Client. Maybe this thread will help other ST15i users.
I knew it would work
I had checked the results for ST15i before i posted link from Chinese website
Congrats
Thank you, it was helpfull.

This still doesn't help on ppl who can't unlock it. Don't get me wrong, I just don't want to unlock it. I'm waiting for a solution like the X10 had (with "bypassing" a kernel and so. I still have a .apk file from Z which gives a recovery0.2 but that's not CWM ofc)
Does you tray CWM installer from Xperia S developement forum?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1756346
I didn't try it because I'm not sure is it compatible with Xperia P devices...
I post a question in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1841613 thread where I asked for CWM files. We can them easily past in wright directories as we have root rights now

you can do a full wipe :
call *#*#7378423#*#*
Customisation Setting → reset customisation
or
fastboot.exe -w
or
use pc companion to repair device (this will also lead to full reset of the device)

You can do a full wipe by manual. There is an option to do that on Setting.

[Q] No Jelly Bean update for a flashed Xperia P

Hi, :cyclops:
Here is the information about the current state of my Xperia P:
Phone Software version: 1254-4233_6.1.1.B.54
File System Version: WORLD_61.1.B.54
S1 Boot Version: 1240-4128 R10E010
ETS Software Version: 1255-3022_30
Customization Version: 1262-3681_R2G
Active Customization: 1262-3681_R2G
Content Version: PA8
Type Number: AAD-3880135-BV
This Xperia had its bootloader unlocked, it had a custom ROM (Telstra, Australian provider) but was flashed to the original Sony ROM following the instructions from the Sony official web page.
To what I found so far is that most of the updates for the Xperia P depend on the S1 Boot Version, but my brother has an Xperia P with the same S1 Boot Version as this one, the difference is that my brothers did not have a custom ROM (original unlock from factory), and my brother's did get the Jelly Bean.
Now, I'm wondering if the Xperia Ps that were flashed to Sony's official ROM do not get Jelly Bean? Is this correct?
Is there a way to get ROM from my brother´s Xperia P and flashed to my Xperia P?
Can anyone advice me what should I do to get my Xperia P running Jelly Bean?
Thanks for taking you time to read my post and special thanks to the ones that will reply to this post. It can be in Spanish or English, but I think Spanish can only be through private messaging.

i have an Xperia P too and i unlocked the bootloader myself.
Are u sure your that your phone came with an unlocked bootloader (you said from factory)?
AND: You dont mix up SIM-Lock and Bootloader Lock?
I ask because usually u get a phone with the ABILITY to unlock your bootloader yourself, which voids your guarantee.
I have never heard of a xperia P that came with an unlocked bootloader tbh. You HAVE to do it yourself.
Also i have never heard or sth called "S1 Boot Version"... Whats that?
Either you can unlock your bootloader or not... no versions or sth like that...
Read up on bootloaders here: Its for Xperia S but is the same for P
From there:
First, you should confirm that it is possible to unlock the boot loader of your phone by checking the service menu. In your phone, open the dialler and enter *#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu.
In your phone, tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked.

So, i assume ur phone says "YES" and your bootloader has been unlocked (by someone...:silly. If that is the case you can NOT get any updates from the official PC Software any more. If u want that, you have to re-lock your bootloader.
Thats the point where flashtool comes in. It is a tool that lets you flash official firmwares even if u have an unlocked booloader.
You can read up on this tool (and other general stuff) here.

You can change your SI number in there (wherever applicable) and you will receive the update through PCC.
There was this thread with all the SI list but I can't seem to find it now

[Q] Install Cyanogen on Sony Xperia U ST25a with Unlock bootloader No

Hello everybody, this is my first time here, if I do something wrong please forgive me.
To describe my situation I will tell you everything that I do. First, I was trying to install Cyanogen, I learnt about it using flashtool and I understood the procedure using fastboot mode, but for my surprise I found out that my device has Unlock bootloader with No, when I found this I feel a little sad because everywhere said that this option has to be with yes, this is mandatory. I didn't give up and I continued searching others options to install cyanogen on my device, or if it is possible change the option to yes, but the only option that I found is using a testpoint and a software S1 Tool (this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1730874), but this option for my device is paid, is not included in S1 Tool, after that I downloaded a ftf firmware for my device and I installed with flashtool in flashmode to test if this change that option, the installation was ok, but the option Unlock bootloader still has No.
I haven't found any other option, do you have any option to install Cyanogen on my Sony Xperia U ST25A, I'd like to do for myself to learn.
Thank you to everybody in advance.
Regards
You can't. The test point method was only for the 2011 devices.
If your contract is over you can contact your carrier or sony and request them to unlock your phone.
With your bootloader locked you cannot flash custom kernels and any thing beyond cm 9 is not possible.
Search for cm 9 locked bootloader xperia u.
