Hi all,
sorry if this is under wrong topic, I don't know where elsewhere to put it.
If for example someone finds where important security issue in samsung phones and tablets is it possible to sell that information to samsung and would that be legal?
I know there is bug bounty programs, but I don't think something like that, more like direct contact to samsung and negotiating terms, is something like that possible?
And no I didn't find and 0-day/whatever , this topic is more an academic research on it, I would like to know is there any benefit for someone who finds such a thing to get it to samsung or will black market be the first thing to reach out.
Are generally Android based producers strive to get information about their issues or they don't care at all.... this is the question....

Hi dudes!
I just bought my first Android phone - Huawei U8150 IDEOS. It has Froyo on it and it is "with Google" on the back, which by the reviews means that is with bold Android 2.2 and not with some apps from the manufacturer.
But, as this is my first phone on Google, I would like some recommendations for apps, security maybe, what to do with it, and of course some basics about the Android itself because I don't know nothing about it. Don't be angry at me for that, and I know that this is not the COOLEST phone (by coolest probably means most expensive ) but it is enough (given the money amount spent on it).
Am, also I live on the Balkan so probably some apps for US region may not work for me.
Any tip and info will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
Am.....sorry if there is some other thread like this one out there, I searched and - no results, but again, I may be mistaken. So if there is something like this, please let me know and then close the thread. THANKS!
Bye!
SORRY GUYS, PLEASE CLOSE THIS THREAD AS I SEE THAT THIS IS NOT THE PLACE, I JUST SAW ANDROID ON MY PAGE SO I THOUGHT THIS IS IT. BUT IT IS THE CHEFS CENTRAL. SORRY AGAIN. BYE!
Closed as per OP's request.
Hallo everyone!
First of all - I got myself a smartphone just yesterday for the first time ever, so yes.. I'm even less than a Noob.. you can call me noob^2..
Second: i searched the forum but I did not find a similar topic. Either there is no similar thread yet, or I don't know how to use the Forum search engine properly.. If so, please excuse!
I have a SGS2 i9100 (not G) and android 4.0.3. Not rooted (don't know yet how to so..)
I would like to replace my ipod with the SGS2, but the soundquality is very poor. I would like do connect the phone to an usb DAC (fiio E7 for example), but i read that it is not possible to bypass the internal crap yamaha-DSP. So is there any possibility, hack, or whatever, to send the pure, unprocessed mp3 data to the DAC via USB OTG??
Thank you a LOT!
Not currently possible with the SGS2 & highly unlikely to ever be. Devs who have been asked to have a look at it have all gone 'Nup' because of Samsung's proprietary/closed source drivers & so on. To give you an idea of what devs are up against/why nobody will tackle this, read this post.
Only way it will ever happen is if you code it yourself, or a dev with a lot of time on their hands (there aren't really any of these; the development they do now is done in their spare time & on top of the jobs they have) who actually wants to use this themselves.
Don't ditch your iPod.

Well, that's a pitty!
I read somewhere that android 4.1. (Jelly Bean) supports that USB audio out capability. Is that true, and does that mean, that if I could install jelly bean on the s2, I could use usb audio?
Another, probably stupid, question. Is it possible to install the 'not touchwized' - original - version of android on the s2? Would that make usb audio work, or is it a matter of hardware and drivers??
Thak you for your reply!
Hardware & drivers. Won't work no matter what. Unless a dev makes it work as I said in my previous post.
So right now, no one is trying to make the s2 work..? Would donate if someone succeeds..!
What about the Galaxy nexus phone and about the Galaxy s3? Do these phones support usb audio, even though they are from samsung?
1) No, offering money won't make any difference. There have been threads made in General where people have pledged differing amounts of money; in one thread I offered $20, all up maybe 6-7 people pledged money totaling around $150 to get it working. No devs took up the offer. Seriously, this is something that is very difficult & time consuming to get working, it's not simple like some people seem to think. It just isn't going to happen. Money isn't the issue, the issue is time and/or a desire on the part of a dev to use this feature themselves. No dev so far has had either of those nor a desire to get this working.
The fact it doesn't work on stock roms should tell you something.
2) You're asking in the wrong place, ask in the forums for those phones.

Hi Everyone,
I´m just asking if anyone has either made a SEAndroid for the galaxy s3 or some other high security rom? I don't know enough about development to compile. I would like to develop a rom for high security but wouldn´t know where to start.
So please if you know some apps that work, a rom that has been created, or even advice on how to compile? add in apps? or anything else you think can help.
If you don´t have time to answer pleas don't.
I would love a discussion properly so other people can do it. Even if its just links to all the relevant thing.
Thank you for your time
Cost
Or what would it cost to get someone to do it as i am a novice. Do you think they will have guys to do it on peopleperhour or something?
Im not advertising just if i ask where to find someone all people tell me are the developers here are busy and not give me location.
All the best
Did you ever make any progress with this? This is something I would like to start doing in the near future but I am starting with very little experience.
If any developers are familiar with SEAndroid (http://selinuxproject.org/page/SEAndroid), would/could you explain the process needed to develop/package this for the S3?
Thanks!
This is my fist post, I am sorry if I am asking something I should not. I am not a technological guy, so I need some help and patience.
My wife has an old gt-i9082, it is at android 4.2.2. I think it is 3 years old.
I would like to upgrade it to a better version because the cellphone system are already very slow and some app are not working anymore.
A friend told me it is possible, since the cellphone are not at warranty anymore, but I do not know how to do it. I just find this forum with google.
So, I am asking for a step by step guide to do it, if it is possible. If it already exist, please point me to the relevant thread.
Again, sorry for my lack of understand.
Thank you very much for your time.

They don't have any newer official Samsung updates, but the developers here have been able to keep your device updated with custom versions of android that are based off of the Android Open Source Project and/or CyanogenMod sources. This means that if you update, you will get a vastly different user experience. You will have access to the Play Store and all the apps and what not, but the UI is completely different from the Settings, to the Dialer, Contacts app, email app, etc etc. Many people prefer this, but if you aren't tech savvy and new things confuse and/or frustrate you, then it can be an adventure. There might be small issues or work arounds that you might need to do depending on which custom option you choose and how you prefer or need to use your phone as well. I don't recommend jumping into the upgrade without reading other forum members advice or comments to see if there are issues that might affect the use of your phone. You can find more information in the forum for your phone here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-grand-duos -If you use the dual sim function, pay special attention to the changes in that set up with the newer versions.
I am going to ask for direction over there.
Thank you so much.
Hi,
I own a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (32 GB) and I am running stock firmware, unrooted and bootloader locked. During an exam in college, I did not know that it was forbidden to have your phone in your pocket. The teacher found out about me having a phone in my pocket and I have to explain myself soon. I did not use my phone at all during the exam, and I want to show this to my teacher. Is there a way to show her that I have not used the phone? Maybe Android creates a log file where it records all the actions taken between that date and timeframe? I have googled this but I found nothing...
Hope you'll help me.
Thank You
Not without root there isn't. Even then unless he was used to looking at the code it wouldn't make sense to him
u need root to show that, buddy.
i faced that problem too.
then simply i took my mom and teacher gavr my phone back
Thanks for the help guys. If I root it right now, is it then possible to show the teacher a log which is created before I rooted my phone? So the log was already there before the rooting, but to be able to view it I have to root it?
Sorry for my bad English.
Zelendel, you said that the teacher probably doesn't understand the code. I don't understand the code neither but if I could learn what the log would say if no action on the phone was taken at all, then surely the teacher must be able to learn that too....
So if you told me that the code would look like ''xxxx'' when no action was taken, then I can show this thread to the teacher and compare the codes.
That's the thing. That unless you know what you are looking for. You will see thousands of things happening during that time. I really doubt he is even gonna care. It's not a matter of what you did with it, it is the fact that you were not supposed to have it. (more and more schools are doing this. Heck my kids are not even allowed to have it at all on property) so while he might give you the benefit of the doubt it really still is the matter that you are not supposed to have it at all.
