Whenever I try to call it goes says "Your account could not be validated. Please contact customer services." Then it says something in spanish and says "Message 5 Switch 3-9-0". How can I fix this?
I'm running CyanogenMod 12.
You sure the SIM works, such as in another phone?

Ok
so I've unlocked my XDA and use a 3 sim. I can make calls just fine, I can receive text messages just fine but I cannot send texts messages.
Also, I cant access my sim contacts either. I can get around this by copying my contacts to the PC and then to the XDA but I use multiple PC's and am always forgetting not to synchronise contacts on any PC's other than the one with the correct data so I keep losing it.
Anyone got any ideas how I can resolve this.
I have an update for you all.......
I've spoken with 3 and they have assurd me (for what it is worth) that they have not imposed any restrictions on sending SMS (I wondered because I know alot of people take the 3 contract for the cheap calls and then don't use any 3 services but use the O2 roam facility that presumably costs 3 money) so I have to assume I have a set up or technical problem with the XDA.
When I try to use SIM Manager I get an error message saying "Sim is busy. Wait 5 seconds and try again.". Well I wait and wait but it doesn't get any better than that.
SIM Toolkit does nothing when I try to use it, not even the graciousness to give me an error message.
3 said just type in the servcie centre number and away you go (they also said to uncheck the "use unicode when necessary" box) but that doesn't seem to help. Also after I type the service centre number in and try to send an SMS, which fails everytime, I go back to where you enter the service centre number and the field is blank again.
The error message I get when I try to send an SMS is "Your SMS message has not been sent because the SIM is invalid. Contact your customer service center for a new SIM" Well, of course my 3 sim is valid,it works just fine in the e616.
The SMS messages appear in the "Sent" directory even though they haven't been sent (and they really haven't or at least they certainly haven't been received)
ROM Version is 3.17.03 Eng (in fact it's the XDA developer ROM)
ROM Date 05/15/03
Radio Version 4.16.00 (I down graded to this to get the thing unlocked)
Protocol Version 32S54
There are other threads discussing this topic but they all talk about people who have flashed their phones or w/e. I have never done that to my phone and purchased it this way. The guy I bought it from did something so I can use the $50 prepaid unlimited cards from Wal-mart. I have a few problems and would be eternally grateful if anyone would be able to help me solve them.
The lock screen shows a big message in the middle of the screen that says "This SIM card is from an unknown source. Emergency calls only."
When trying to activate the mobile hotspot I am presented the following message. "None VZW UICC present: A verizion wireless LTE SIM card is not detected. Mobile hotspot/mobile broadband connect service needs a verizon sim card in order to work."
The third issue is with MMS. When receiving them sometimes they go into a whole new message that looks like a group message with my number and the senders number up top. Also sometimes when I try to send an MMS I get an error telling me it is an invalid destination.
Thanks in advanced for any help. I just want to reiterate that I am capable but I'm not sure what has been done to my phone so I don't know where to begin.

I have a gear s tmobile. Up until this past week I've been able to use the gear to initiate texts and all of the sudden this function has stopped. When I go into messages, compose and try to send a message I get this phone icon with a half circle in front of it as opposed to the arrow like it's loading or sending but it doesnt move or change and the texts don't send. When i turn off bluetooth and try to use mobile network or wifi i get the red square icon with the exclamation point. I cannot use s voice to initiate texts either though other s voice functions - ie call bill - works fine.
I can reply to texts as they come in all day. I suddenly just cannot start them on my gear. I have tweaked every option i could think of, rebooted, reset the watch, tried to switch from primary textra to primary Samsung messages, removed the sim card and so far nothing. Something wrong with my sim card or what?
***update*** it was the sim card. Not sure why texting worked at first then didn't but I had to log in and input the # on the sim card and reboot.
i dont have a sim. im using bluetoth with the same problems any help?
I know for me, I can't have airplane mode on and send messages. I can still receive them with it on though.
*with bt connected

Thank you for the update. I am having the same issue except it affects calling only - I can not make any phone calls, and I can not receive any phone calls - I can text and use my data though like normal, but I can not make any phone calls nor can I receive any phone calls. You mentioned that you had to "log in" and "input the # on sim", and "reboot" -- would you please elaborate where you have to go to "log in" like on the: T-Mobile Website? Samsung Website? where do you "log in"?

Hey yes on T-Mobile website. My T-Mobile.. I forget the exact links but you click into your device and go from there.. Pretty sure there's a number on the sim and you input that and reboot. I called T-Mobile and they were pretty helpful if you get stuck.

Ok, I went on to the T-Mobile website, then created an account for my T-Mobile Samsung Gear S phone number under "My T-Mobile". However, when I log in to "My T-Mobile" I do not see anywhere listed a place where I can input the number on my SIM card. I tried looking under the submenus of: Billing, Usage, Plan, Phone, and Shop, but was not able to find the place where I could input the number on my SIM card -- where do I find the place to input the number on my SIM card?

Hey I poked around and nothing jumped out at me either. I'm currently using gear s2 so my settings may have changed (it has built in sim.) Give tmob a call and they'll help u. Sorry I couldn't be of more help
I'm having a weird problem with my OneX+ where I can make and receive calls, send and receive texts, view SIM messages but when I go to the APN menu to add a new one a toast message pops up saying there's no SIM detected. Due to this, I can't turn on my mobile data
I've tried the tape behind the SIM fix and that didn't work (The SIM is being detected anyway).
Thoughts? Software or hardware related? Anything else I can try? I'm on the stock ROM, unrooted.

I faced the same issue with my airtel sim.. i wasn't able to send any message , but i was receiving messages and the smsc number was incorrect (+7) and couldn't be updated..
This issue is due to the sim card...
Go to the airtel store and ask them to give you a new sim ( your number remains the same).... they charged me Rs.25...
The new sim activates within 3 hrs...
But still you wont be able to send messages for next 2-3 days after activation..
Once you get a message from airtel stating the change of sim ..you will be able to send and receive messages....
Yes, the problem was with the sim not device. Got the new sim, able to send messages. No issues

You probably have an incorrect number saved in the SMSC setting.
To change this, go through the following steps:
1. Google the SMSC number for your particular service provider and state. Ex: "SMSC number for Airtel Karnataka".
2. Now, Go to settings > System apps > Messaging > Additional settings > Short message service center
In the pop up that appears, enter the number that you found as part of step 1. Make sure you prefix the number by +91.
3. Click OK after entering the number.
Once you perform this step, you'll lose the network connection momentarily, after which it'll be restored.
You should now be able to send messages from your Poco phone.
Note: This solution only works if you're not able to send messages from your number, but are able to receive messages.
If you got a new Airtel SIM for your Poco phone, allow 24 hours for messaging services to be unblocked. Airtel blocks messaging services on new SIMs to avoid SIM swap scams.
