MHL and Video Recording - both frame skipping/stuttering - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I am trying to record a video using the Lollipop's framework. Sadly what I have noticed is that when I do so, my output file is missing frames resulting in not smooth video. Basically where should be second frame, there is still the frame number one.
I have tried different apps for it, adb and even MHL to record via my AverMedia card - but all are giving same result. Of course this is not noticeable on my phone screen at all.
My phone is Note 4 - both Cyanogenmod and Stock roms are giving same result.

[Q] Camera won't record video!

Hello XDA!
I'm new around here, but I'm fairly sure that I'm posting in the right section.
I'm having an issue with the camera on my Evo 3D GSM, specifically with recording videos. Taking stills is perfect.
Whenever I try to shoot video, the camera app crashes and the phone restarts. In 720p, this is almost instant, whereas in 480p it will record for around a minute normally. Now and then, it will record, but normally the video is glitchy, and often displays "this video cannot be played" before the end, even when it does record fine, which is rarely.
My first thought was that it may be an issue with the SD card. I tried with a class 10 16GB and still had the same problem. I also tried flashing various ROMs (JB, ICS) and all of them have the same issue. I also tried clearing the data and cache for the gallery app, and trying a 3rd party camera app which acted in the same way.
At this point, I'm fairly sure it's an issue with my device, and not the software, and there's probably nothing I can do about it, but any explanations as to why this might happen, and if it's possible to fix, would be appreciated!
Thanks guys!
What rom are you on? Always check buglist of the roms you install. Some roms have broken camcorder in the bugs list which means it doesnt record video.

[Q] Snapchat video recording time not working properply

After searching for a while it seems few people have shared my problem but none really found a solution.
I'm on a Galaxy S3 i9300 running the latest stable build of SlimKat (which is AOSP based) and it appears snapchat videos only record for a second or so before stopping. According to what I read i recognized the problem as a memory problem, snapchat has a maximum memory capacity for video and for some reason on AOSP based ROMs it reaches that maximum too early. I confirmed this because I saw that when Video Quality is set on "Low" it does record the full 10 seconds (although in messed up proportions which is why I don't want to use it) and if I put the Video Mode on regular and put my thumb on the camera it records 10 seconds of black, and if I suddenly remove the finger it ends because of the memory maximum.
How can I fix this problem? I really like vanilla android and I don't want to move to Samsung based ROMs for something like this. Please help

That's my problem too =/
Same and my front facing recording is being inverted like right is shown as left ??

Had a dream about this... Try going to camera app and go to video setting, in the recording setting change the video to a lower one. Mine was at 1080p and when I changed it to 720p it started working amazing. Try setting it lower if that doesn't work for you. Mine was only recording for 1 second and would stop, after this I can record the full length allowed now. Let us know if this works for you

[Q] Snapchat video recording issue in most ROM's

On our beloved S3's, one feature in most ROM's has an issue with Snapchat.
Let me explain: With our phone, snapchat has two limitations on video recording. 10 second time limit, and a size limit of (I think) 6mb. Once it reaches one of these two limits, the video stops recording.
Normally this wouldn't be a problem... Except that on most ROM's the default camera quality is vastly increased. This means that after about 3 seconds of recording a snapchat video, it reaches its size limit and stops.
Due to the popularity of snapchat, I'm sure there must be a fix out there - and if not we could make one. But for now... Does anyone have a solution? It's the only reason I'm sticking with stock ROM.

LGV30+ video playback problem

I'm looking for a solution for a video playback problem my LG-H930DS (SEA) has after the 8.0 Oreo update. When I start the phone everything is working well, but after a few minutes of normal usage the built-in videoplayer cannot play video recordings made by the phone itself. It says "Cannot play video - This file type is not supported" Then I have to restart the phone to get it working again. But it fails nearly every day. I wouldn't mind this failing because I can choose a different app to play the gallery videos, but the problem is that Snap-chat videos fail to play as well when this happens, until next restart. That's the bug I cannot have. Also when the phone gets into the state of not playing videos, the ringtones and alarm clock make no sound.
To start the problem I only have to open a few random web pages in chrome, open the gallery a few times, play some videos , and in a few minutes of this usage video playback crashes. MX player, VLC and youtube still work though.
I have done a lot of troubleshooting for this problem:
Full restore of the phone
Flashed different firmwares, H930DS20b, H930DS20d, and the european variant H93020d
Tried with no apps installed, other then preinstalled ones
Tried it in safe mode
But the problem always remains.
I always use the same google account. And after upgrading to 8.0 the problem does not seem to start until I restart the phone for the first time, after that it's constantly failing. Don't know if it starts when the memory gets close to full or not, but nothing else is failing on the phone.
I have now downgraded my phone to the Android Nougat 7.1.2 (H930DS10d) and this problem is not there, no matter how hard I try to replicate it.
I can only find one link on google where this problem is reported. (problem #6)
I have contacted LG Support, and they had never heard about this, and wanted me to send my phone in for repairs. But I'm not willing to pay for shipping from Europe to Asia, if this is just a software problem.
Is someone else getting this problem, or does know a fix or a workaround for it? Or is there a way for me to view the errors the phone is running into?
Sorry for the long post, hope someone is willing to read it and give me a little help
I finally found out what the problem is. It's actually just media files in the storage I use every day. These files only contain audio, but have the extension .ts. Video playback on the phone fails because the gallery is trying to create thumbnails of them to display. The workaround for the problem was to place a .nomedia file in the folder containing those files, to hide them from the gallery. After that the problem stopped. I've been using these files for years, and it has never been a problem until Android 8.
have you tried some other video player?
stock one is quite basic and thin.
Hi, yes I do use another players, but the gallery is failing video plaback in snapchat and stopping ringtones and alarms from working aswell, without using the stock player.
Same problem here with LG V30
I have the same problem with my phone I have the T-Mobile V30 and I have the same issue. I figured out not to take videos in 4k [email protected] works fine. But the moment I create a video at 4k it either starts playing and stops midway with sound continuing to play with frozen picture or it just says it doesn't support the video.
I've been using LG phones ever since the G2 and never had any other phone or any problems with them. This one though is getting really annoying.
I hate these Q&A format threads with a passion. I wish people would just open regular threads...

Have you tried other video players like VLC, MXPlayer?
Yes sir I did many players and VLC is always on all my devices and it also gets stuck. I'll try the .nomedia file and see how that works
And I have a problem with the smoothness of video playback in gallery, whether it's a bluray movie in mp4/mkv FHD format, or from camera in FHD or in 4k is always on Android 8.0 I have a delicate jam, how would he lose single frames every 0.7sec ~ 0 , 25sec. I came back for testing on 7.1.2 and it is perfectly smooth always, as soon as I updated to 8.0 version 20d or the latest 21h there are jam ... how b was an oreo error, quite a few friends did not catch up with this problem, I'm a perfectionist and I look at every detail whether it's a video or sound, that's why I chose the highest model of the phone.
LG releases more patches (already 4) and as soon as it appears oreo are staples. You can see that this is a pfroblem with support for video caps because MX Player also has micro jams on the hardware codec.
Interestingly, youtube is fluid.
I only hope that the Android Pie will be improved.
I'm having the same problem as well please let me know when you will find the solution to this problem of smoothness of video
At first it was running smooth AF but after some time i noticed the problem after 1 day of use.
Reseting the phone didnt work.

Question Whatsapp choppy video

Hi,
Since I bought GT 2 PRO global version (RMX3301) 2 months ago, I have an issue with sending videos (recorded from the main camera) as videos playback get choppy after being processed by whatsapp.
latest updates did not solve the issue.
However, if I record and send videos directly from whatsapp, the playback is smooth.
Anyone faces the same problem? Any fixes?
Exact same issue here, have been trying every different setting etc and nothing working.
Same here. Gdpr version
Sorry, I posted a fix I thought works but doesn't ...
If you change video options to 4k, 30-60 fps, it´s must work for you.
Is better ,but no, not working
Same problem
try turning of hevc (h265) video in setting, alternatively cut the video shorter using the editor and use the new video
same problem here. Just found out the culprit. if you download the video to computer and try to read the FPS, it always using weird number, like 28.97, 29.41, 29,33 fps. I guess that what really make whatsapp compression failed, it tried to upscale the frame rate to 30 fps but because the FPS never have constant rate, the output get choppy.
I tried using Gcam, and works perfectly, because Gcam always produce 30 fps video.
Realme should fix this bug
To solve this inconvenience (it happens in several mobiles that are not Samsung and Iphone), you must use the "VenLow" application (I suggest downloading the premium app from google) and that's it, the same application indicates how to use it and you can also watch videos on youtube. Greetings People from Chile.
Just noticed that problem was solved already
