Not really a problem it's actually really cool but I don't know why I am able to do this I bought it brand new the from walmart its the 4glte Moto E -2 for Virgin Mobile and unless it comes with a sim inside already I never put one in I was just gonna use it around wifi cause I can't afford to turn cell service on yet. Without wifi being connected and without having put any information in pertaining to activating my prepaid plan with virgin mobile I never even put information in it lets me connect using data. It's picking up on the Virgin Mobile 4g LTE signal it even says so in settings but you'll usually be able to see the data signal picking up but it never actually lets you connect until you start a plan and insert the activated sim for the plan. But I'm able to download , browse, listen to music and do everything running off of 4g for free for some reason?
I thought since this mysteriously was working despite having not paid or signed up for service with anyone maybe using the built in phone would work too since in settings there was a phone number listed for the phone but when I try opening up the native phone app it then trys to get me to either sign in to my prepaid virgin mobile account and start a service and pay for it but if I exit out and just go back to using hangouts I can use the data capabilities just fine. Is this a glitch? Seems too good to be true especially cause I haven't done anything to the phone except take it out of the box no root no nothing. I almost don't want to root now in case it might somehow make it to where the data connection doesn't work anymore cause its super awesome being able to use my phone anywhere without worrying about needing a wifi connection and I didn't pay for anything o.o
If anyone else has this lucky error in your favor do tell cause I searched everywhere and I can't find anyone else having posted about it.
Phone was likely wrongly activated on someone else's account and will be shut off after they realize what has happened. Try to dial a number from the phone to see what number is used on it.

Your "situation" actually sparked a very lucrative business for me from July, 2015 to the present. An exploit in Virgin Mobile's 4G/LTE network (mvno subsidiary of Sprint) allows for Android enthusiasts well versed in telephony standards to purchase a Virgin Mobile Data Done Right smartphone from Walmart and, without activating the device, enable unlimited 4G/LTE data which can in turn be used with the device's native mobile hotspot. I have personally seen such devices being used now for 18+ months with no problem. For obvious reasons the exact nature of the exploit cannot be articulated here. I can say, however, that it is not unlawful to take advantage of an exploit that was not hacked or otherwise implemented by the user of the device.

I think he's saying it needs to be closed because you're detailing a somewhat known method to get free data (and free calls, if using Hangouts Dialer or VOIP). I accidentally discovered this loophole last fall, after canceling service with Virgin Mobile. The latest build of 5.1 closes the loophole.
We are definitely speaking of different "loopholes." I've ran every build of 5.1, including the most recent, s.12, and it has had no effect on my connectivity. In fact, the network exploit I referred to has nothing to do with the Android OS itself, but rather the msm8916 baseband. I wasn't discussing any known method to get free data. Please don't take me the wrong way. I want to fully abide by the rules and regulations of XDA and I was only sharing my particular experience with 4G/LTE connectivity.

Weird. Anything newer than S11 and I have to activate the phone to get data to work (I reactivated briefly, then ditched the phone again). Reflashing previous firmware brings data back without an account. I personally don't have an issue with discussing this because I can't activate the phone on an MVNO like FreedomPop or RingPlus (which is what I wanted to do), and I don't really use the phone anyway.

Try cm 12.1 or cm 13 for Surnia. Do a clean install with or without Open Gapps. Then, flash the modem from any of the Android 5.0.2 builds. Let me know what happens.

Detailing this loophole is really a bad idea... more people will learn about then start to abuse it. In response we'll get higher prices and more locked down software. Not only will people abuse it, it may get patched. If you find something this awesome, your best to keep it to yourself and let others find it themselves.
Anyways here's an interesting article I found... http://bgr.com/2012/02/23/throttling-unlimited-data-plans-is-pointless-study-finds/
I am inclined to agree.....as the old saying goes: if you know of a good fishing hole, you don't tell everybody where it's at.

You can flash it with a full partition table from an original Data Done Right model. However, provisioning the UICC can only be done on an original Data Done Right device.

Someone with a rooted Data Done Right Moto G3 xt1548 can install Flashfire by @Chainfire and opt to do a full partition backup (dump). I believe there are 24 partitions including /system. They provide you with the files. You also install Flashfire on your device (if rooted) and opt to do a full restore. The app with flash all 24 partitions to your device. Included in the partition files are modem/radio firmware, carrier and config files. Your device will then mimic a Data Done Right xt1548 Moto G3.

I know that this question has been asked before, and yes I did the research.
Basically I am wondering:
- Will the $15 "dumbphone unlimited AT&T data plan" work with T-Mobile Vibrant?
- Does it matter which Vibrant I get? I've heard from people, that I have to get i9000 to do this.. Will ANY T-Mobile Vibrant work with this?
> Can I unlock it myself or is it only specifically unlocked ones or what?
- I am in Bergen County (North New Jersey) area.. What kind of 3G do they use? WIll Vibrant 3G work with AT&T?
I know people have been doing it I am just curious if it STILL works.
In addition, I'm in Family Plan.. Primary line WAS iPhone 4 (I sold it today, which is why I'm considering Vibrant).
Will they make a huge fuss about me not having the iPhone 4 anymore and all that? I'm currently grandfathered under $30 data plan.
Thanks a lot in advance!!!
I don't think you can use the $15 unlimited plan with the vibrant but I'm 90% sure you can use the $30 unlimited plan. You need to have an unlocked vibrant. You should be able to get 3g with no problem because the vibrant supports 850 and 1900 3g bands but you may need to enable 850 in the settings. The i9000 can only get 1900 so I guess the vibrant would be a better choice. I don't what kind of 3g your area uses but you should be able to use it.
Thanks for reply
I know for a fact people have used their unlocked Vibrants on AT&T for $10 unlimited dumbphone if they have unlimited texting too or $15 without the texting
Curious if it STILL works and also what kind of Vibrant I need to get
Lastly if itll work in NJ area.
It's what I am using with my unlocked Vibrant
I am currently using the $10 data plan with the unlimited family texting option.
Unlocking is easy with this phone using the internal code procedure outlined on the Vibrant forum.

I can also confirm that the dumbphone data plan works for me. I have the $15/mo. one (since I don't have texting-I use Google Voice ) and 3G does indeed work but only with the 1900MHz band. To unlock, you can use this guide. There is also an app on the market that does it automatically I think.

Does that guide result in the loss of your IMEI number, being replaced with a genric, like some methods did?

No problems with the IMEI for me, even after flashing all sorts of ROMs based off the Vibrant, i9000, and CM7. Just make sure you back up the old nv_data.bin. Might as well back up the whole /efs folder while your at it.

Does anyone know if it is possible to use the vibrant with the $50 unlimited gophone plan without having to buy a data package for smartphone?
If so it will be a great deal through callingmart. ($47.50 no taxes or fees)

I'll just answer any future questions of this nature:
If you're not on T-Mobile, NO CARRIER WILL KNOW WHAT PHONE YOU'RE USING. The only way they can know is by deciphering your IMEI, which they will reference to the IMEI's in their database. This is why AT&T mentions unlocked Nokias being open to use the $10/$15 data plan: it's because AT&T has no idea what phone it is because Nokia did not give them IMEI's to these phones. If you have an AT&T branded phone, then of course AT&T will know the IMEI. If you have a T-Mobile/Cincinnati Bell/etc phone, they will have absolutely no idea what phone you're using.
So to answer your question: As far as AT&T's billing dept is concerned, you are not using a Vibrant. You are using an unlocked phone. No further questions. They might think you own the phone pictured below:

NOT True.
I formerly worked at T-Mobile in the Tier 2 PDA support department. While *some* unlocked phones would show up as unknown in our database, the majority of them showed their manufacturer and model numbers perfectly fine. I knew as soon as I pulled up the warranty tool (this is how we checked what phone you had) if you were running an iPhone, a Nokia N95 or any non-T-Mobile phone.
For example, I would have a lot of people call up and want to configure their "new iPhone" only to have to inform them that, sadly, they'd actually bought a "scIphone" (a Chinese knock-off)... These would actually show up, name & model number, in our database!
The reason the generic data works on many unlocked phones, is they don't program the networks to detect and require premium data on those models, since they are a small fraction of the phones in use, and to check against every phone made in the world would add to the overhead and reliability of the network.

That will be good if it worked.
I bought a vibrant after checking with T-mobile if I was covered (they say yes and that anyway there is no problem because I could roam on ATT network). It was a lie, no roaming on the $50 plan and no T-mobile network at all in my area. So I canceled and tried H2O (ATT network) and it works well where I live (with 3g) but I get just 100MB of data.
So I guess I am going with ATT pre-paid $50 unlimited...
Thanks everyone for the answers
so curious where you able to get the 50 unlimited everything to work? I just picked it up and data is a no go, i have a 3g connecion but i can't load pages. very irritating. anyone have any idea's?
I have an import galaxy 2 so was able to buy a $50 all you can eat GoPhone package and have unlimited data for $50.
Its worked for six months, but since my last billing cycle, I've lost all data on the galaxy.
Weirdly, when I put the sim card in the AT&T brick phone I bought it with, the internet works fine...
whats going on and how do I get net back on the galaxy?
Is there a way they can ban internet on one particular phone? I always kept data under 2gb per month on my galaxy even though its ssupposedly unlimited.
thanks

They may have detected that you had a smartphone IMEI. Either that or it's something with the APN settings.
But can they just stop internet on ONE imei, and let it work on other cells with internet (what is currently happening now). I.e, I have internet on the brick phone the sim came with, but not now on the galaxy. I did tether it for about 10mb during last billing cycle, but as its import I dont think they can detect that.
Would phoning them and telling them the IMEI is for an import Pantech feature phone be a good idea (i.e one of the phones they allow with unlimited data)?
also, it is a british unit so they dont have the IMEI on their database,.

Probably not a good idea, just in case what you worry they did, they actually did. That would mean they have seen the sgsii and the pantech, and have recorded which one can use the internet.
Do that as a last resort. For now see if there are different apns available to use. Or even more so, try someone else's android, ideally an sgsii - global or local, with the apn you're using now and see if it works.

I tried the sim in an unlocked Nokia N95 and it had no internet... but, it didn't have the APN access route for AT&T internet on the list of options when I tried to connect... hmmm.
So you think dont call AT&T??
I've tried different APns too - and nothing !
any clue? I guess I have to phone AT&T.
Dont get it.... I called AT&T gave them the IMEI and told them it was one of their Feature Phones (but import model). They searched the IMEI and it didn't show up.
they said that there are no limitations on my account and suggested I bring it to a shop for them to adjust the net settings... obviously I cant do that with my galaxy or they will realise its a smart phone. Ive even just done a hard reset and still no internet!
Anyone have ANY clue what is going on?

hi, so in Mobile Network Settings I have:
Use Packet Data - > TICK
Network Mode: GSM/WCMA (Auto Mode)
and in ACCESS POINT NAMES:
Just one optionL "Cingular 410"
which if I click on, has apn: wap.cingular
What am I doing wrong? !
ATT has ways to tell of it is a smartphone or not. Not by imei but by what the phone sends to the network when it connects. They have found a way to block data on smartphones unless you have a smartphone data plan on there. Your MMS as it is routed differently threw the message center will still work but any other type of data connection is denied by their servers.

****, so they've finally figured this out??

Yeah I heard you can buy their nokia gsm handset and just put the sim in another phone, i.e the galaxy.
I'd be willing to try this i guess.
Just went into AT&T shop and they said they could detect I was using a smart phone so pulled internet. Their alternative for the same service was about 90$ per month.
The cell market is so different in usa compared to uk where I am from. There I can get unlimited everything for about 30 dollars a month on about five different networks. Here in USA it's a chore being even able just to buy a sim card by itself!

Instead of goig through all of this with AT&T why not try to use it on Simple Mobiles network. Since you imported it and its able to access the AT&T network, more or less, I take it that its unlocked. You could use it on their network and have unlimited data 3G=$50 or 4G=$60. With simple mobile I don't think it matters whether you have a smartphone or not because they have a plan specifically for Android Smartphones all the needs to be is unlocked and you'll have to change the APN setting but they explain all that on the site. Ill check into it more and let you know what I find.
Edit: Just called and they said your phone is supported and you will have access to talk, text and web.

If you would've read the fine print for the $50 unlimited data for the gophone, it does not support smart phones, you have to buy a seperate data package. I'm using h2o wireless pay as you go, no issues so far.

I thought it was funny. He's loving the phone so far! Does anyone else have this dev edition?
Semi-related: We're on AT&T and have a shared data plan, and tethering is allowed by AT&T. Is there a hidden hack he can do to enable it? The phone will not allow it right now, and AT&T can't help him out because they don't 'have' the phone.
Yep, same here - got mine at Build.
But I'm on Sprint so I can't just move my sim over.
It may live out it's life on just WiFi.
it's a slick phone, that'd be very sad to hear.
I was at build also. I spent 2 hours with AT&T techs yesterday, and could not successfully get internet sharing working.
I'm getting a feeling that the firmware on the build phone isnt final, and we may have to wait for a firmware udpate.
To get internet sharing to at least load without saying call at&t or that it wasn't supported, I had to configure a new apn named "broadband". None of the pre-configured apn settings work for tethering.
But once I did that, I can connect to the hotspot, but the phone does not want to route any data through it. So devices connect, but cannot connect to the internet. Its quite odd, and the AT&T techs were stumped.
It probably lacked AT&T's specific module for tethering. You may need to 'upgrade' to AT&T official ROM.
Broadband APN is tied to your account. When you are eligible to use tethering, it get enabled. So, I'd double check the account setting on AT&T side.
On Android phones, I know tethering is secretly routed through a hidden broadband APN built inside ROM's SQLite config database while normal phone connection is routed throuh ptr APN (for LTE). With a rooted Android phone, you can change the hidden APN back to ptr and get around the tethering account requirement.

All LTE phones require a SIM card. But for Sprint and Verizon, currently they run phone calls and SMS on CMDA side and data on LTE side. So the SIM card for Sprint and Verizon are in fact data only. Verizon is actively testing Voice over LTE and promised to deploy them in near future. When that happens, CDMA will no longer be used. Everything will be over LTE. But that is long way to go.
On the other hand, this phone actually works with T-mobile 3/4 G as well (it is penta-band unlike the AT&T retail version). So, you can as well get a prepaid account for T-mobile. There is no Sprint WP8 phone come out anytime soon.
Just out of curiosity, when you start the phone up, do you have a carrier splash screen?

I've got a Lumia 900 on the account, and tethering is enabled, and that works fine. if I'm not using the broadband APN, it actually tells me I have to call at&t or go to the AT&T web site (giving me the exact url) to add the service to my account. So I'm not sure why it actually doesn't work on the 920.
Hopefully someone will figure it out at some point.

No, it is a dev phone not specifically designed for AT&T. You can't even get cell data connection before you make a manual selection of APN for AT&T.

That is because your Lumia 900 is an AT&T branded phone. This one is not. And AT&T has special requirement/software for handling tethering. If I would make a guess, AT&T uses Broadband APN to test if you qualify for tethering but use ptr (for LTE) for actual data transmission once verification passed. You actually have to have a USB broadband stick on your account to use Broadband APN for data transferring.

I suspect that is true because when I first powered it up, it defaults to Canada region settings and time zones.
Anyway, I played with different manual APN settings. It seems that the phone firmware is hardcoded not to allow tether for both PTA APN (for LTE) and Phone APN (for HSPA+). Any other APN will be ok but my phone with my current account settings (unlimited data) won't let me use either AT&T 3G APN (wap.cingular) or anything else for internet connection. So the end result is the same.

That could explain why Roger model is pentaband :victory:.
For anyone wondering, my dad figured out the tethering. Oddly enough, he installed the Spanish keyboard and Internet sharing turned on. Weirdest thing ever but he claims it worked. You can change it back to English after. He found this on some forum post he said. Regardless, problem solved!

Thank you! Adding a keyboard (in my case, I added Spanish(Mexico) causes the phone to download an OTA update. After the update process finishes, the tethering works without changing APN. So, now I can freely tether my tablet to it on my unlimited data plan!

sadly, this didn't work for me on AT&T. I tried both Spanish updates, but still cannot tether.
There is a lot of attention regarding this Dev Kit due to the fact that is PentaBand.
Hopefully Microsoft and/or Nokia USA will make this model available, maybe over the Microsoft Stores?

Did your phone go through a few reboots to apply the update? Which APN is your phone configured to use? This Dev phone comes with 3 preconfigured APN for AT&T:
* AT&T LTE1
* AT&T LTE2
* AT&T 3G
Only AT&T LTE2 will fully function for this phone.

I seriously doubt it. They need carrier's approval to sell anyphone with carrier's LTE support. Take a look at Google's new Nexus 4 dev phone, it contains no LTE what so ever. The last gen Galaxy Nexus with LTE is a Verizon branded phone and can only be purchased via Verizon.
Installing either version of the spanish keyboard did not allow tethering. My APN settings just say "AT&T" . The difference is my phone was from AT&T so it probably has some other lock on tethering. More details on how this was done would be helpful unless it just isn't possible for me. I was already prepared for not having tethering with my unlimited plan anymore with my lumia 920 (came from android where custom roms allowed for tethering) so here's to hoping it is possible at some point.
This thread is about the special dev version ms gave out at BUILD2012 conference. Not the AT&T retail version.

Matters made worse late last night, OTA applied by wife trying to be helpful
still not grabbing 4G, anyone have thoughts?
Willing to offer reward to information resulting in successful restoration of 4G services.
@ursusblue,
There could be something going on with your SIM card. It may have been just a coincidence that the 4G stopped working when you were running the other ROM. You could try powering off your phone, removing the battery, and taking out the SIM/ then put it back in to make sure it's seated good.
If that doesn't work, you could try getting a new Sim from Verizon.... they should be free at the corporate stores. Or, you could call customer service to get one--they would probably mail you one free if you tell them your 4g stopped working and you think it might be a SIM problem. I was able to get a new Nfc-enabled SIM free about a month ago by logging onto My Verizon online account. I had noticed that they were offering to give away the free NFC Sim....I think it was under accessories or something like that. I still have grandfathered unlimited data and I was easily able to change my SIM after I received it by going back into My Verizon Account and doing it all online.
Good luck!

Good catch, I'll flip sims with the wife's phone tonight and see if that resolves the issue as a start.
Otherwise, I'm sure the knowledge is on the forums, just been messing with this long enough and at 65+hrs/week my bandwidth to find it is lacking

Odin back to stock. (not recover back to stock) Since its not the sim card. You will then regain 4G.
Do you have a nandroid from a previous ROM where you still got 4G signal? If so, did you try restoring it (even better if you backed up the EFS partition)?

No EFS backup to work from.
Here's several more ideas to try..... I don't know if they will work but they shouldn't hurt.
You could try pulling out the battery and SIM... then putting battery back in and power on the phone.... let it sit for at least 10 minutes with the no sim error... then power off, remove battery again, and put back in SIM and then the battery.. . Power back on again. From what I've read, this causes the phone to update the PRL.
Another thing I read was some people reported success with getting 4g back by doing a hard reset,(power up the phone and do factory reset from within stock ROM). Others reported success with doing factory reset by booting into stock recovery..... you could try both.
Another idea I read was you may be able to call Verizon Customer Service and talk with tech support to get them to reprovision your phone/ Sim settings.... tell them you no longer get 4g (leave out mention of rooting)..... tell them you saw in a Verizon support forum that reprovisioning might help, and ask if they can reprovision the settings for you.
One final thought (that may be more than you want to get into) is trying to root the phone with saferoot method, and then alter a system file to see if you can access the hidden menus and maybe try some reset codes like RTN and such.... you may end up doing more harm than good though unless you research to know what you're doing.... and I'm not totally sure that you can access all the hidden menus now that you're on 4.3 (I would have to do more research).
I hope something here helps. If it does, don't worry about the offer of a reward. I'm just doing this as a hobby and I enjoy learning.

Here's a link I found that looks to be to the Samsung repair assistant- http://support.verizonwireless.com/support/devices/knowledge_base.html/80201/
I suppose you could try a restore through KIES as another alternative. If nothing else works. Ok... I got to get to bed. Good Luck!!

I have a thought/idea did you recently drop your phone or have it repaired?
I ask this bc I had a similar situation happen to me after I got my phone back from a eMMC repair.. I had no clue why I was only able to get 3g. . 4G lte never kick on..
Well about a week or two later I got a new 4.1.2 motherboard and while I was installing it I saw the 4G antenna, inside the phone, was loose and coming off..
So lone behold.. reconnected it and BOOM 4G lol..
Here is a video of a motherboard replacing for a note 2.. The LTE antenna He detaches at min 3:01.. it is a little wire looking thing..

Thanks, I am willing to give this a try as it is very frustrating to have this acting as a coaster now. In call data usage is a priority in my world.
Well, it worked! I had crossed fingers and a chest full of dread as I began the move from Verizon to Straight Talk. Read many a post that said it could be done, some that said it couldn't, and a few nightmare posts about something going wrong. I did this with a rooted, but otherwise un-modded Galaxy S4. No added ROM's, kernels, or hacked or cracked anything. I'm not even sure you need to root it, but I was bored the other day and thought I would give it a shot.
I went to Straight Talk and ordered the SIM card kit for the BYOP program which was a $55 investment with the 30 day time card. I chose the AT&T Micro Sim Package which doesn't matter as the SIM I received was a normal sized SIM with a micro break away cut out as well.
I fired up the Registration/Activation page from Straight Talk, filled out all the info being sure to use the SIM card serial in place of the MEID/IMEI, and ported over my number from Verizon. Verizon has no PIN, you just need to provide them with your Verizon password for your account.
After that, I called ST which was a PITA, but I wanted to make sure everything went through fine. After hearing the verbal warning about how the SCH-I454 may or may not work with their service, and hearing how there is no refunds for the SIM card or the time card, I said go ahead and activate the SIM. He did so after reading me about three pages of BS and then telling me it could take up to 2 days for the number to be ported.
I continued to play with the phone with the VZW SIM in it until it went dead (about 30 minutes later), then switched out the SIM and began the conversion.

Global Mode vs. GSM Mode:
Make sure your phone is set to Global Mode or GSM Mode by going here:
settings/connections/more networks/mobile networks/network mode
Voicemail:
I noticed I had a Voicemail icon, but when I clicked on it, it routed me into the *63 loop of "Call can not be completed, blah blah".
This is due to Verizon using a different access for voicemail than ST. It is easily fixed.
Go to settings/my device/call/voicemail settings/voicemail numbers
and enter your cell number.
Now when you click on the VM icon or press and hold the 1 key, it will take you to your VM.
If you have a VM icon stuck on your screen, simply call your cell from a different number, leave a VM, then retrieve and delete it and it should disappear.
Verizon Bloatware Removal (sort of):
I figured since I wasn't on Verizon anymore, I could go ahead and get rid of the VZW bloatware all over this thing. There are ways to do it, that I found on these forums but I'm not very savvy when it comes to installing ROM's and such on phones so I chose to just play it safe and go to
settings/more/applications manager/all
and Turning Off everything that said or started with "Verizon".
Day 2: Continuation of Self Education
So I started receiving annoying pop up messages asking me to sign into my Verizon account. I could menu tab out of it, but it was mucho annoying. So I started digging deeper into this glorious website and the forums and learning about Safe Strap, ROM's, and flashing modules.
This led me down a bright path.
I ended up following the directions on this site in regards to installing Safe Strap v3.71 from Hashcode and the RootJunky (Tomsgt) Youtube installation video. Backing up the Stock ROM and then decided on the Hyperdrive RLS14 from sbreen94. Following the directions as outlined in the RootJunky (Tomsgt) YouTube videos, everything installed easily and I had zero issues.
Now in order to use Safe Strap, you will need root access, but finding that information on here is fairly easy. Easiest way is to search for the Tomsgt post where he links a lot of his videos. I believe it is even a sticky.
If like me, you are brand new to this whole thing and a little intimidated, it's okay. Just take your time, don't get in any hurry. Watch the installation videos prior to beginning your own installation, and just be careful. You are in good hands here.
Continued Discovery:
One of the side effects of switching over to ST from VZW was the addition of having the + sign added to calls in the call log. Now this didn't affect making calls or sending texts via your contact list, but if you tried to call back from the call log, the carrier assumed you were trying to make an international call and would drop it.
There is no way to fix it via the Calling options in settings but I did find a work around. An app by the name of Prefixer, put out by 253°Below (253below.com).
With this app, you can set rules to drop the + sign from outgoing and incoming calls. It's still going to show up in your call log, but when you tap a name or missed call to call them back, Prefixer automatically removes the added symbol and everything works like a peach!
Reclaiming Device Space:
Flashed HyperDrive RLS15 over the stock ROM this morning. Flashed the Modules before reboot and after install. Only issue I had was TouchWiz Home crashing on occasion, but a kindly soul on here told me it looked like it was an issue associated with restoring data. Although I didn't restore data, I also chose to just flash over the Stock ROM and use the installers Wipe/Factory Reset option instead of wiping the ROM slot first (Dumb move). All I had to do was boot into recovery with SafeStrap and Wipe the new ROM, reboot, and good to go. Now have close to 6Gigs of free space on the Flashed Stock ROM.

I haven't even tried. I may look into that a bit more and see what I can find. I tried a few different listed APN's, but to no avail.
Cool thanks. I would definitely appreciate it. My friend is looking at switching so I'm trying to help him out. I think I may have read somewhere that the 4g capability was dependent on the sim card number.
I'm told in my area that the Straight Talk service uses Verizon towers. Does that sound plausible? If so, I imagine the switch over would even be less of a hassle :fingers-crossed: $70 a month savings sure sounds tempting as my contract runs out this fall.

I believe they do, but it's all really dependent on phone model and area. You won't be able to use an S4 on a Verizon tower through ST. You would need to have ATT or TM service in that area to support the GSM for the Galaxy S4.
Verizon S4 will not work on ATT LTE, but will work on 3G. This is due to different LTE bands. As far as ST using Verizon, the older CDMA ST phones use verizon. ST is moving towards GSM hkwever.

Strange, I haven't had any issues with MMS. What APN are you using?
Update: I actually had this happen to me the first time I renewed my monthly plan with ST. Just have to call and have them restart your plan to fix the issue. I used to work for Virgin Mobile and knew exactly what the issue was but it still took the ST guy about ten minutes before he grabbed a supervisor and they confirmed it.
This is assuming it worked in the past.
