Hi I am here to ask that how does application detect our android phones means they detect with built number, model number or etc.
I am asking this because a app called "free gift cards" in this app there is no need to login to a account this app detect the device and it's login with device permanently. So if answer this question than i can change that thing to change my device.

Question is about this app: Verisign VIP Access
Currently my bank provides me with a Verisign hardware token to generate OTP during sinin and operations, but recently they started to offer also the access using the software version through the Verisign VIP Access app for smartphones.
I already installed this app few months ago to use it on another site that supports it, and I have my credential ID, and I would love to use it also for my bank.
What I am asking for is:
This is a software solution, and the Credential ID was generated when I first started the app for the first time, will this ID change if I change ROM or change device? I already have the app+data backed up with Titanium Backup, and it seems that restoring brings back the same ID, but can anybody confirm this?
I can't risk loosing the ID for my bank account....
Obviously an old post, but for others' reference:
Yes, changing ROM causes VIP Access app to use a new "Credential ID" (even restoring with data from Titanium Backup), which is no longer in sync with your bank. I have to call E-trade for this reason every damn time I change my ROM. If memory serves, even dirty flash (not nightly) causes VIP Access reset.
Google Authenticator does not have this issue.
Hi there,
my question might seem to be a little odd, so I will explain the reason first...
in my university lab 6 of our android devices (and an iphone 5) got stolen. the thief might have sold the devices, I'm not really sure. anyhow - one of the devices still had our lab-gmail-account logged in so i could install androidlost and get at leas some control over one of our stolen nexus 7.
I was able to get gps coordinates, the WiFi name + IP address as well as some pictures of the person that has the device right not. unfortunately the police told me that gps wouldn't help, as there are possibly 150 persons in the street where the device is, that have the potential to be criminal...getting the owner of the connection via IP is also not likely, because a judge needs to approve the locating via ISP and before that happens, the telecommunications company will have deleted the data -.- I've seen they added a new gmail account after I changed our password. but it's just something like "[email protected]", so nothing that tells me the name.
with androidlost I can also start a web-server and browse the sdcard of the device. unfortunately the device is not rootet, so I can't browse to /data/data to gather more information.
so (finally ) here is my question:
is there any app that saves it's data to the sdcard which uses the facebook ID?
I mean in any logfile or something...maybe an app that automatically starts at boot, so i can be sure the app leaves it's trace on the sdcard.
I can still install apps via play store and if i could retreive the facebook ID in any way, there would still be a chance to catch the thief...
I'm also open for other creative ideas to retreive the identity...
EDIT: before anyone gets me wrong - I don't want the password or login to the account - all I need is the facebook ID (or name...) so I might find out the real name and give it to the police...
Hi all,
i am new to Android, and i am trying to find out if an android keeps a log of the when applications were open or used.
e.g. I open Gmail, then Calendar, and I would be able to see on the log what time the app was accessed, or at least last used (which i thinks some versions of Android can do on some mobile models, but not all.
Depending on the mobile brand and model you can check open application, but that is not display in a shape of log.
Is this log exist where can it be found please?
Thank you
Hi Guys,
Imagine I want to create an app that will use biometrics from the mobile phone.
I want to use the sensor in the way it registers multiple records in my app. From functional perspective it's like the registry - you log in to app, you have "your team" and you need to register their fingerprints.
Is BiometricPrompt API capable of doing it? Or it only serves to authenticate one user that the device belongs to?
If the answer is not in my favour, do you have any other ideas?
Hi there!
I wanted to create a Samsung Account to use all of the features my tablet supports.
I already had one because of a Galaxy Watch S3, but now it always wants my mobile number so I can continue using the account.
Is there any way around that?
I saw that they support OTP, but when I want to enable the 2FA it only sasys I have to give my mobile number to continue.
As my Tablet is WIFI only I don't want to give Samsung my number.
Do you have a clou for that?
Thanks in Advance!
2FA requires a phone number to send auth messages too... there is no way around it if you want the extra security.
I hate these Data mining things!
Theres no problem giving the opportunity to do the OTP from the beginning without having to register your phone number.
All companys only want your data.
Sorry, but that drives me nuts as IT security guy.
