Folks,
Is there a mini-USB to VGA (or S-Video) compatible with the TC?
Every now and then I see some PDAs with a VGA cable. That would be perfect for using the Pocket PowerPoint on the go.
Best,

only devices which support usbhost can use usb devices only Athena from htc does that
maybe you can find a mirco SDIO card which support it
Man thought you where kiddin but.....

If you really want to see a concept to blow your mind then look at this: http://www.infrablue.co.uk/index.php?a=irmabluetooth
These solutions have been available for Palm devices for years (at least 5 years) and the one I linked to above looks quite old and out of date. I can't understand why someone big hasn't taken up this concept and done it really well e.g. one of the big projector manufacturers or a big-name computer peripheral manufacturer like Logitech or Microsoft's hardware division.
The infrablue device looks dated (only SVGA resolution) and, although it's smaller than it looks in the pictures, I suspect that with today's technology it could be made no bigger then the Touch Cruise itself. It's also pretty ugly.
I would just love a solution like the above at 1024 x 768 resolution, about the size of a cigarette packet, and drivable directly from Mobile PowerPoint. As long as you could map the buttons appropriately then you could hold your TC upside down in your hand (i.e. Dpad at the top) and be able to cycle through your presentation just like a TV weather presenter holding the clicker below their waist.

Here's something I stumbled upon. Not sure how it would work though.
http://www.anycom.com/products/bluetooth_audio_video/tv_bt_04_tv_adapter/?id=102&partno=CC3088
SCART connector?
Never heard of it...looks pretty phreakin cool though, heh. Maybe if they had somethin like that that would work with HDMI or SVideo, etc. it would be alot better.
Also, that microSD adapter thing definately DID blow my mind...crazy stuff!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SCART
it's been widely used in europe for ages
You guys rock!
Thanks folks. You guys kick arse!
JulianL, the InfraBlue realy got me. Especially because it allows me to keep my microSD for storage. Besides, I dont't feel like the MicroSD was made to handle lots of connections/disconnections.
But thanks for the reply from everybody else.
Has anyone already used the InfraBlue with the TC? Way too many bucks to spend before making sure it does the thing.
Thx once more,

Any idea as to whether these will work with our G Tablets?

dunno? I'm going to have someone look into it for me and get back. hmmm, interesting
Should work with the Gtab, seeing as the Vega is a nearly identical device. That dock looks sharp and I like the headphone/speaker and extra usb ports.
I like that more accessory options are starting to pop up.
Is the Vega's docking port really that far offset from center?
Considering the GTab's is dead center, this does not look like it would be a great support structure for our tab.
it may work
it may fit as far as the connection type but the connector is really off to the side. It would need to be tested but i would think the Gtab would sit to far off to the left. The weight may eventually screw up the connector if its not strong enough to hold the weight from the tab going to the side....
My dad owns his own cnc machine shop and I'm contemplating designing a small but heavy dock that is lined with felt that we can sit the transformer in. It would hold it at only one angle but it would also have a slot milled out which would allow you to keep the usb cable plugged in. Would most likely be anodized to match the color of the transformer as well. Need to design and work on costs. Potentially could be used for other tablets down the road. Haven't seen anything like what I invision yet.
Just wondering if there would be any interest in these if I made them available?
Need more info but I am in the market for such a product.
Keep us up to date.
P.S. simpler the better for me as far a design.

Found something on amazon, check out the " Thought Out Stabile iPad 2 Stand - Black" it's almost 4 lbs. and made of steel.
Depends also what price range.

Price point would be the clincher for me. I also think that simplicity is important as well. Meet those and I would buy.
The Thought Out iPad Stand is a simple and clever design that looks like it would work for many different types of devices. However I think the developer is killing himself with the price and by marketing directly to Ipeople only.

I agree with you totally, the price is a little high ( you should see what they want for the aluminum colored one ) and the marketing is limiting, I only suggested this one because of its weight. There are similar stands that cost less ( also limited by imarketing ) but they also weigh less..........anyway, I'm still curious to see what the OP comes up with, sounds like it's going to be a real solid build.
Belkin Flipblade
I use this:
http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-F5L080...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1307205284&sr=8-1
It's sturdy, folds to pocket size and holds all my tablets (and phone!) in either portrait or landscape. No slot for the USB cable, though.

Hey everyone,
I'm Jonathan i design and produce products for a living, im constantly frustrated at the majority of companies only making beautiful accessories for Apple products while us Android lovers always suffer with cheap Chinese crap. I want to change that.
I'm designing a new high end range of tablet, phone and headphone stands for the Xperia and other android tables and would really appreciate you input?
I want to make what you want!
I love aluminium (not an apple fan) and want to CNC metals as much as possible.
Firstly i want to design an xperia tablet stand, so can you all give me your inputs on features etc?
Examples: -
1 - do you want a minimalist design or a complex design?
2 - do you want the tablet to simply rest on the stand or use the likes of the micro suction pads to firmly hold it in place?
3 - do you want the stand to be portable/foldable etc?
4 - What colours do you want the stand to come in?
5 - What do you want the stand to do that other stands don't?
6 - I'm all ears!!!
I look forward to hearing everyone's comments. Feel free to PM me with ideas, concepts etc. If you have an actual design and its awesome i would be happy to discuss a royalty fee per sale etc.
Regards
Jonathan.

HI Mike,
Thanks for your comments. I want to try and keep things simple to start with, although i too would like a good keyboard for my Z. I want to focus on products i can CNC, products that make using your tablet at home and in the office simple.
Cheers
I will get back to you with my idea on a holder to put a keyboard (USB or Bluetooth) and the tab.....
1) minimalistic
2) allowing HDMI connectivity (-> using bottom USB port to charge, etc)
3) black matte pseudo - rubber

Well, first off, I like inexpensive Chinese stuff because it's inexpensive, looks decent, and does the same job as a $60 product. You could burn through 5 of the things (if you're some kind of madman that drags the tablet through the jungle) and still pay less than a single "high end" item.
That said, the only reason I'd pay a bunch of money for simply a stand is if it looks really frikkin' cool and it's functional. If it looks like every other stand I'd rather just use a decorative plate/dish holder for 50 cents and call it a day. Actually, looking at dish stands wouldn't be a bad idea, they have collapsible designs which may give you ideas.
I dig sci-fi designs for their "coolness" and industrial designs for their rugged look. Metal plating, gratuitous use of rivets and caution stickers, stick a propeller on there and you have a stunt plane lol
Suction pads? I don't think they're necessary. If you're using a stand, chances are you're on stable ground and don't need them; in other words, you aren't riding a horse or something. If you're in a situation that requires suction cups, you're probably not going to enjoy viewing the tablet anyway and are safer just holding it so it doesn't bounce away.
Anyway, thanks for making stuff for non-pad users
Keepem coming

You know what, I think a charging dock that can hook onto the tablet while on a stand position would be a good idea. Whenever I use my tablet to watch movies using my case as a stand, the usb port is obstructed. I am afraid that one day I will break the port.. A charging block (magnetic and using pogo pins would be a great idea.. )...
I´m very interestet in your project and thought about a nice dock by myself.
I would like to have an notebook like dock, too.
Maybe your could CNC an main dock in which you could fit in bluetooth keyboard.
It would also be nice to have the usb port extended to so side of the keyboard base just like a normal notebook.
1 - do you want a minimalist design or a complex design?
Minimalistic
2 - do you want the tablet to simply rest on the stand or use the likes of the micro suction pads to firmly hold it in place?
Simply rest using the pogo pins used for charging instead of the micro usb port.
3 - do you want the stand to be portable/foldable etc?
Not necessarily
4 - What colours do you want the stand to come in?
Mate black or black and white
5 - What do you want the stand to do that other stands don't?
Maybe the ability to plug the dock to the audio port of the tablet and the dock to a stereo. I'm not sure I explained myself with this one.
Also an NFC tag could be useful for putting the tablet to daydream mode or turning off all sounds.
6 - I'm all ears!!!

Hi knightrider66
I my have something here about a cover for the tab and for my bluetooth keyboard for know that can be use like a laptop |I have a ed model I'm still looking at the hinge system but can forward you pictures. I send to you a direct email from the email in your user account. like to know what you can do.
let me know
thanks
heres my work so far on a cover laptop look alike for the tap Z and a bluetooth keyboard. need some more work on the hinges system and the travel system. this design make the tab usable like a laptop and a tab by sliding the tab over the keyboard. also I am looking at the capability to connect directly to the tab usb and so how to the side connection for charging.

wow
So I've been using this Zenscreen Touch w/ my S9+ and thought I'd share what my "ninja setup" looks like (when I need to do remote admin work but don't want to drag my super expensive laptop around). Beware if you're trying to duplicate for yourself, as there are other portable monitors that don't have a built-in batteries
Now - S20 Ultra -> ASUS Zenscreen Touch 15.6" portable laptop -> 6 inch USB-C to USB-C cable & Jelly Comb folding USB Keyboard w/ Trackpad
Also sometimes bring the 8BitDo Gamepad and MS Arc Touch mouse in the other pic. I like that the MS Arc mouse folds flat for transport and storage, but usually the trackpad on the Jelly Comb keyboard is enough. I know you can use the phone's screen for a touchpad, but the one on the keyboard is more natural.
There's also 2 products I know of that do the laptop case w/o guts trick - NexDock which is a 13" screen and Phonebook which is a 15" screen and my preference. NexDocks i understand have shipped in January, but Phonebooks have had issues w/ Dex and delivery affected by Coronavirus labor restrictions in Asia.
I have the Nexdock Touch. It works well with Samsung Note 10 and 20. The reviews are accurate about the touchpad is the weakest point. It's mainly when you touch your palm while typing, the mouse jumps. You can disable the touchpad. I use the touch screen mostly. I did get a portable mouse that I keep with the Nexdock for longer sessions while I may be doing more typing.
The only quirk, per se, but it's a limitation of the technology, is you have to use a cord to connect the phone to the Nexdock. This can be awkward for where to place the phone. The previous version of the Nexdock had larger bezels, so could use some of the monitor phone holders. It's possible to use Bluetooth like some of the smartwatches use to connect to smartphones, but I do not believe it has the bandwidth for transferring the video and controls--mouse/touch and keyboard. I'm sure it will get there is some point.
I cannot comment on the Nexdock 360. The reviews have been similar to the Nexdock Touch with some minor tweaks. For the Samsung phones, the Nexdocks are not compatible with the S-pen. Would be interesting to see if compatible with a Bluetooth stylus.
My plan was to use the NexDock as a laptop for school so I didn't have to carry a more expensive laptop around. Unfortunately, COVID hit, and everything went online. I have used it when traveling. It also servers a nice small monitor to connect other things such as Chromecasts, Roku boxes, game consoles, and so forth. I've seen others use it for KVM for PC builds. It is versilte device.
Wouldn't it just be easier and cheaper (you could lose/break any of these one-off components) and then you'd have to replace them to just bring the laptop?
What's the total cost for all of these customized peripherals?
