Hi,
I had a LOCKED version of HTC AMAZE 4G with WindMobile Canada.
I rooted my device and I get unlock file from HTCdev website too.
I flashed a custom ROM on my phone...
Now bootloader shows:
*** UNLOCKED ***
RUBY PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.93.0002
OpenASDP-v02.6.0.2226.00.0202
eMMC-boot
Mar 15 2012, 21:46:51
As you seen, my phone's status changed to UNLOCKED and I have a custom ROM on it.
BUT when I tried to use another sim card (rogers) on my phone, It shows: Network error: enter 8 digit code!
can anybody help me in this problem?
Also, I tried to back to stock WINDMOBILE ROM but it shows HBoot version error.
How can I get back to stock rom? just with S-OFF? and if yes, how to do S-OFF?
Thank you for your time and supports.
Andorid version: 4.0.3
Baseband version: 1.14.550L.17DC_30.78.550L.15D
Kernel version: 3.0.16-gb80210f
Build number: IML74K
The unlock you see is for bootloader unlock. It is different from sim unlock.
If you fail to enter the code enough times you can never do it the normal way. If you're s-off (you're not right now) you can also do a sim unlock regardless.
If flashing the RUU didn't work, I don't remember how to fix it. You couldn't have changed the CID if you weren't s-off.

Thank you for your help, but my phone is "NETWORK LOCK", sim card has optional lock code that it is disable in my phone, so, my phone is not Sim locked, It's just Network Locked!
So, How is it possible? as I know bootloader is dedicated for carriers (e.g. WindMobile), and now I have unlocked phone but it does not accept any other sim card because of network locked situation!?
Thanks,

Hi, I've recently unlocked the bootloader to my phone, as well as installed a custom rom and rooted. What I was hoping would happen when my bootloader became s-off is that the sim would no longer be locked to rogers. I unlocked the bootloader (s-off) on an htc desire hd and as soon as it became s-off the sim was unlocked. When I go to the bootloader menu on my evo 3d, there's an option called "simlock" however when I select it, it says:
FAT32 init OK
Open MCCMNC file fail
Open CID file fail
Process done, reboot device?
<VOL UP> Yes
When I reboot the device, it is still locked to the rogers network. Any ideas on how to make this work? Or is there maybe another way to unlock the phone that does not include paying money?
bump, if anyone has any ideas.
Had same problem. Me thinks this person is just collecting IMEIs and emails.

I have similar problem,,, if u find solution tell pleasr
Hi guys, i recently got a legend with hboot 1.01.0000 and s-on. From what i understand after looking through the forum, s-on shows that the phone is "attached" to a certain wireless carrier and is only compatible with that carrier's SIM card, and that hboot 1.01 can't be reversed and thus can't be s-off except with xta clip or an unlock code.
However, just out of my curiosity, i borrowed my cousin's active t-mobile SIM card (prepared) and plugged into my htc...here the strange part, instead of having "no-signal/service," the phone was getting t-mobile services and I was able to make calls & texts! So can anyone tell me why is that because i want to understand the situation before i run off to get a t-mobile or at&t SIM card for it seems to work even with s-on.
Thanks!
(The phone was previously using SIM card from Taiwan mobile if thats any help.)

No, that is not correct. S-ON just means that you do not have write access to system partition even on a rooted device. That is the default state of all HTC devices. Not to be mixed up with a sim-lock as you wrote above.
In case you want to get rid of the write protection, you can easily update the bootloader via HTCdev. Once updated, bootloader can be unlocked so that you can get write access to system partition. That's comparable to S-OFF (even if it is not the same, as it does not allow e.g. to remove sim-locks).
Hope that helped.
If my bootloader says relocked not locked but everything else is stock then can i still claim under warranty in Australia on vodafone
Probably not. Bootloader has to be "locked". Relocked will let them know that you had unlocked it and flashed something.

That really depends Vodafone Australia's policy, as it seems to vary by country.
If you do need to be "locked" rather than "relocked" this link might help. For users that that have htcdev unlocked, the easiest way to regain the "locked" bootloader status is to do the JuopunutBear wire trick, which will leave the bootloader "locked", then flash an RUU and set S-ON with the "fastboot oem writesecureflg 3" command. That would set your phone back to totally stock.

how can i unlock the htc one without the simcard?
I have the phone, and the bootloader is unlocked and s-off running twrp (android version 4.4.2)
Is it even possible to do it without the simcard? i mean i know its been done on other phones with out the use of an unlock code.

If the bootloader shows to be unlocked, then the phone is unlocked? Now if you want to unlock the SIM, then you will need the SIM from the other provider otherwise the phone will not ask you to enter the unlock code. There is no other way to get it to ask for a SIM code.
I almost cannot believe how many different ROMs I've tried to flash after wiping out my original ROM.
Bootloader unlocked and rooted I managaged to relock the bootloader while trying to fastboot flash a stock ROM, which also failed.
Beleive it or not, I've have found a couple that will boot up with my Sprint HTC One Max . I was able to re-unlock the bootloader, flash a new rom and even recover user data I had backed up to my PC via adb backup.
All this for not, as I still cannot find a Sense ROM that will flash on my device and allow me to unnlock the Sim via Sim Unlock Helper.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

I recall reading somewhere that the Unlock Sim Helper should work on Sense 4.1.2 ROM. ????
Greetings,
I moved your thread to the correct forum (hopefully) for you to get the help you need.
Thanks,

RUU back to anything pre-4.4 and it should work. afaik you need a lower hboot/radio version
