Galaxy S3 In Bootloop After Install Paranoid 5.1 - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

S3 in bootloop after install Paranoid 5.1
Hi all!
I'm in troubles with my S3.
I downloaded paranoid 5.1 for S3 webparanoird /legacy/i9300 (pa_i9300-5.1-20150822.zip), then I saw that I had to download GAPPS , so I downloaded: androidrootz . com/2015/03/download-android-51x-lollipop-pa-gapps.html (STOCK version), and finllay I read that was recommended to use boeffla-kernel, so I went to his web and downloaded last version (boeffla-kernel-4.0-alpha13-CM12.1-NG-i9300.recovery.zip).
After get it all, I put it in the SDCard, I when in recovery, I did Wipes: dalvik, cache and data. Then I install in this order (I read this order somewhere) ROM, then, GAPPS, then wiped cache again, finally I install Boeffla kernel. Then wiped again dalvik and cache and rebooted the phone, but before reboot TRWP said If I wanted to root the phone, so I accept. Finally, phone restart, but is in bootloop from more than 30 mins.
How can -I make run the device,??
Thanks in advance

boeffla alpha 13 is based on latest unofficial cm12.1 release 7 by Justarchi, which was released some days ago. Your desired ROM is older (08.22) so maybe it does not support the newer kernel. try to cleanly flash the rom and gapps again without flashing any additional kernel (wipe system, data, cache, flash rom then gapps, no additional steps needed). If it boots with stock kernel. you can try different older releases of boeffla kernel if one of them boots. if you want to go back to stock kernel, you simply have to reflash the rom without wipe (data will be kept)
btw, your desired gapps seems to be a bit old. try some newer one and use a small package (mostly they are called pico/nano or mini package) with only the core gapps needed for playstore and download all additional gapps you need from playstore. IMO it is the better way. there are many actual and good gapps available, for example open gapps, slim gapps, delta gapps, banks gapps, etc.... (I personally use open gapps pico package)

Ok I'm gonna try as you do, with pico gapps from oppengaps.
Just one question more, where can I take origina kernel? just to have if any thing goes wrong.
And thanks for the answer! (I'll say something about hoes it goes)

OK, I have installed with out more problems.
What I have done:
I install first of all, the Stock rom, to run the phone. (so the pone was as stock)
then.
- Downloaded TRWP for I9300, and flashed with Odin.
- Copied Rom Paranoid, PicoGapss from OppenGapps and boefflakernel (this time, this version to be sure: boeffla-kernel-4.0-alpha1-CM12.1-NG-i9300.recovery)
- Restarted phne in recovery mode, and whiped Data, system, cache and Dalvik.
- Installed from SD, first the rom, then the gapps, and restarted the phone, but didnt worked, so I go again to recovery
- Install Boeffla Kernel, whiped chache and dalvik, and restarted again.
- TRWP asked for root the phone, so YES ! XD
The waint less than 5 mins, and phone started .
Thanks for all the help!

@xShudyx: Paranoid official is imo the only S3-ROM, which came and still come with non-booting kernel. So think about its usability. As mentioned here, alpha 3 or Anykernel alpha 4 works. But they are outdated too.

Task AOKP - Flash and Back is Home

So flashing the new version either via OTA or via download and flash results in the Back acting as the Home button for me.
In addition, flashing the GAPPS package does not install the Gapps (Play store etc.)
Anyone have any idea?
I have performed a full wipe - wiping data, cache, davlick cahce and it does the same thing each time.
Tried re downloading in case of a bad download/flash - same thing?
I'm stumped????
Sounds like you might not have the right version. Redownloand and try a clean install.
I would re-download the ROM and gapps. When Task first put up the gapps link, the main link linked to the ROM for the S3 and not gapps (the mirror was correct). So what you have most likely been doing is installing the latest AOKP ROM for our phone, and then flashing AOKP meant for the S3 over it. Thus things not working and no gapps.

Hope that works for you. I had same guess as DaveyBB, as there seemed to be the two versions posted and some confusion about gapps after first load. I have been running the 5/9 i777 update along with 5/8 gapps and it's been running great. I did a full wipe, but I also ran first just with cleared cache and dalvik cache and it didn't seem to have any problems that way either.
Good luck!

Trying to flash cm 12 rom right? It's a zip? Checked md5 to ensure good download?
I'd update to latest twrp 3.0 first. Make a backup of current rom/setup.
Are you trying clean or dirty flash?

Thanks for the reply. Not sure how to check if md5 download was good, but there were no interruptions so I believe it was.
And what is clean vs dirty flash? I downloaded the only "snapshot" version that was on the klte downloads page directly to my phone. Rebooted into twrp recovery, selected zip file, swipe to flash. Then I get the error. Looks like file name says CM 12.1-20115007....
Snapshot is a stable build right? This is my first custom ROM so I wanted to start with a stable build.
Thanks

Make a backup, then wipe system, data, cache, and dalvik before flashing the ROM. It helps prevent bugs

This is the Cm 12.1 ROM I'd use for your device https://download.cyanogenmod.org/get/jenkins/129251/cm-12.1-20151007-SNAPSHOT-YOG4PAO333-klte.zip
You'll need an android 5.0 lollipop gapps also which allows you to use your ROM with google apps, play store functionality, etc. This is the one I'd use for your device. https://basketbuild.com/filedl/devs...gapps-modular-micro-5.1.1-20150927-signed.zip
Once both are downloaded onto your phone storage, make sure you backup 1st in TWRP so if anything goes wrong you're ok.
Clean flash means you're wiping system, data, dalvik, and cache before installing new ROM/Gapps - always reccommended if you're coming from stock touchwiz a different non CM rom.
Dirty flash means you only wipe dalvik and cache typically b/c you're just updating your current ROM with a newer version of same ROM so no need to wipe data/system but it is the first thing to evaluate if your device has errors like force closures, bugginess, etc.
Also, after you've wiped your device and now are ready to install your ROM and gapps, do both zip installs in one step. so add the ROM, then add another zip which will be your gapps, then swipe to flash having 2 zips in your queue. Then when all is done, reboot and let your device install. Sign in setup your accounts and profit.
Let me know how it goes ok! Hit thanks for me please!!

there's little reason to use an old & insecure version at this point, i've ONLY used a few nightlies, the bugs were usually minor & you can get the fixes pretty much as soon as they come out rather than waiting months
deep sleep battery use & the camera app are greatly improved in CM13

Can't run Paranoid Android 5.1

Hello guys,
I have problems running latest official PA for GT-I9300 (Int'l).
After wiping dalvik, cache, system and data I installed rom zip and gapps zip and rebooted. Phone automatically rebooted me to recovery (TWRP 2.8.5.0).
Again I wiped everything installed rom zip and now I tried installing boeffla kernel 3.1 CM12 NG and gapps zip. After rebooting I see installing apps and when it completed all my applications forceclosed and phone rebooted. Now I keep getting optimizing apps and when it completes phone just reboots.
I tried doing same thing but with leanKernel AOSP v5.1 but I get same thing as installing no kernel.
I appreciate any kind of help. If you need more information just ask.
Thank you.
Official Paranoid is the only LP-ROM for S3, which doesn't boot with build-in kernel. So don't expect anything from that and take Gokulbalram's Inofficial.

GT-i9505 - CyanogenMod 13.0 - cant get google apps to work

Hi;
So i recently installed CyanogenMod 13.0 on to my Samsung S4 GT-I9505 using the first download link on:
https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=jfltexx --> cm-13.0-20160102-NIGHTLY-jfltexx.zip
That all installed fine, but i wanted to get the Google apps installed aswell, which is where i am having some issues.
I have been trying to install the following package:
http://opengapps.org/?api=6.0&variant=nano
but have also tried to install quite a few others as well, and all have exactly the same issue. Basically after the apps have been installed and i boot the device up, i get various error messages like:
unfortunately, Setup Wizard has stopped
unfortunately, google play services has stopped
Any help on fixing this would be much appreciated, as nothing seems to download from the play store thats included in Cyanogen, they just say "your download will begin shortly" but never does.
Thanks in advance
I am a total noob, but I had exactly this problem. The issue appears to be that you have to flash gapps *before* rebooting after flashing CM. In my case since I had already flashed CM before I flashed gapps I had to put the gapps file on the phone (I did this by push with adb, you might find an easier way), re-flash CM, wipe cache/dalvik, flash gapps, wipe cache/dalvik, reboot. It worked.
The easiest guide I found was on androiding.how, called "how to install cm13 (cyanogenmod13)." (The forum won't let me post a link, just google it, it should come up).
Hope that helps. I'm on a galaxy s5 and used twrp recovery if that matters.

Thanks for the reply, i gave that a try and it seems to be stuck on a loop now with "installing app # of 22" . it completes the installation and then reboots, after about 5 minutes on the Cyanogen boot screen, it goes back to installing apps again.
Hm, did you do a factory reset in your recovery before re-flashing CM and gapps? If not, that might be necessary.

Yeah, i did. Tried it multiple times now
That's about the limit of my ability right there, hopefully someone with more experience than me can point you in the right direction. Good luck.
Boot to recovery (preferably TWRP)
Wipe cache / dalvik cache / data / system
Flash CM13 and the gapps you were trying first
Reboot
Profit!
Since you keep flashing different gapps on top of the system, this is probably causing some issues. Once you fully wipe and reflash everything, it should work.

Ive tried that multiple times using twrp (i always wipe everything before i flash CM13 and gapps), i still get the exact same issue. The second the phone boots, i get all these "unfortunately ******** has stopped".
Perhaps try installing 12.1 with gapps, get it all updated then upgrade to 13. I did the accidental upgrade to 13 but have had no issues whatsoever.

Google Play services stopped | CM13 for GT-i9300

I had Unofficial 5.1.1 installed on my Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-i9300. I updated my device via CM Updater to CM13 6.0.1 Marshmallow. After updating, I am getting an error Google Play services has stopped, unfortunately. I cannot access any Google App.
I've flashed the GApps through OpenGapps. But after flashing GApps, phone stucks on Bootloop. I've tried many variants (pico, nano, stock) but none of them worked. I am still stucked at boot screen.
HELP!

Definitely Gapps problem.
1) Backup your data.
2) clean install Marshmallow rom (wipe data/ factory reset & install)
3) look for the correct Gapps (slim zero Gapps work for me)
You might know, but just telling - make sure the Gapps is for Android 6.0
P.S: don't panic and flash several things at once. Maybe you haven't clean flashed the CM 13, that might be the reason.
Clean flash 13.0 and don't boot yet after and go back to recovery, instead flash gapps immediately after flashing the rom. If you dont then you're going to have a bad time. Hope I helped
Done. Flash CWM and Boom
Thank You @sashankps. Slim Zero Gapps worked for me.
What I did?
1. Installed CWM Recovery.
2. Wiped everything.
3. Installed CM 13 (6.0.1)
4. Flashed Slim Zero Gapps.
5. Done.
PS: For future readers, please note that do not wipe cache/data after installing Gapps. After finishing above steps directly Reboot your system.

Glad it helped.
I was a CWM recovery user myself, but the development is static, I would suggest you move on to TWRP - chances of you encountering flashing problems is less.
Next Time.
