How do I know if it works? - Greenify

How do I know an app is actually hibernating when I shut the screen off? Can this be verified?
Also how much battery on average does this even save?

[Q] Display Killing Battery life :(

I'm not typically on the phone for long amounts of continuous time, just to text then i turn the screen off (the display is on auto brightness), and i'm getting half a days battery, and display is showing up as using about 70% of my battery at any given time. Any ideas on what could help or anything? Any help is much appreciated
I've had the same thing since day one. What I always do is turn the brightness down when ever I can. It actually helps a lot. You'll notice a difference
Sent from my double barrel Shooter. BANG!
I play HD games for like 5 hours before battery runs out .
How often you sync your emails? every 15mins?
Also try UC , UV and turn your screen brightness to as low as you can.
I hardly ever sync my emails, i have it to auto-sync but i never open it. and whats a good kernel that allows me to do that?
% means nothing... Tell us how long your screen was on

if you never change your email sync setting, it is sync every 15 minutes I believe and that sure use a lot of juice.
Really you should try UV and UC and don't use force dual core if battery life is most important to you.
do you know what kernel would allow me to do this?
I take it most of you run manual w/ the screen fairly dim. I have had it on automatic. Im curious at about what percent auto hovers at. I know it auto adjusts but it probably has a general range it stays at - just curious if its like 35% or 55%.
What Percentage do you guys keep the brightness on for the best combination of battery life and visibility?

Mine is GSM version, so probablly can't help you. I am sure it will be all over the place in CDSM section.
I will start looking, thank you very much for helping me
I thought we've been over this. A high screen on percentage doesn't mean youre screen is killing the battery. It means its using the most amount of overall power. Technically that's a good thing. It means the rest of your phone (syncing, android processes, games, etc. Etc.) Aren't running wild in the background while the phone is asleep.
I'd be more worried if your display was only using 40% of the battery!
Turn auto brightness off.... It's too simple to pull down quick settings to change it that way,
Find an app to see running processes and services, might see stuff listed you have no idea was running.... Don't force close anything or mess with anything just use it as a refrence and find out if u really need the app or not, I use titanium back up to keep apps that I use just not to often and just restore them quickly use it and delete it.... I've seen a lot of games running in the background to give notifications and stuff, could be a lot of things... Best soulution to save batttery.... Buy a spare lol

Good day.
I have following battery consumation: display eat battery capacity very quickly. In decreasing area i was veawing 3d video trailers on youtube constantly. And during this perion screen eat 78% from all processes. Is it normal? Can i change this horrible appetites of screen? Backlight in automatic.
what app can effectively track our battery drain in MA?
battery monitor widget is quite erratic, or is it really that high during idle
-50 to -150ma (screen off)
I had installed battery monitor and noticed, that when using phone in internet plussed in usb for charging - BM shows -430mA!!! Is usb port so weak? why phone consume so many power?

[TIP] Better battery life

One thing I found to save power that I don't really see posted anywhere is by using this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=AutomateItPro.mainPackage&feature=more_from_developer#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEwMiwiQXV0b21hdGVJdFByby5tYWluUGFja2FnZSJd
I have it programed to turn off 3G/mobile data when it screen's off....unless I have a certain app running like say the browser. It will then keep data connected until the browser is closed, then the screen turned off. I then have it turn 3G/mobile data on as soon as I screen on again, so it's ready to rock instantly. I personally noticed a huge difference in my battery drain when not using the phone.
The app is pretty cool, you can program a ton of things. I have gps auto turn on when I use G-Maps or GasBuddy, then it auto turns off when I close those apps. Saves time and juice imo. Just figured I'd throw this out there.
nice app. isn't there a setting within the OS to do this, though? pretty sure there is.
either way, agreed. data usage can/will cause battery drain.
the real perp is your display, however. adjust your brightness settings, you will see significant battery improvements.
My display is set low, and all my other settings are set to be battery friendly. It's been awhile since I used the app. But after I had that setup, I noticed better life instantly. Went fishing today with the little guy, left the house with 100%. No phone usage for 2hrs, and it was still at 99%.
Can't you do this without the app tho

If there's a way to set the phone to turn the radio off when screen is off, I'm unaware of that. I tried turning it on and off manually, but it got to be a pain turning it on and off all the time. I would end up just leaving it on. Now I don't even have to think about it, and it gets done everytime.
Sounds similar to Tasker, which is a little confusing to new users.
But as for your post, turning 3g off saves a TON of battery. I have to keep it on during the day to get emails for my job, but at night, I turn 3g off, and the phone will drop maybe 2% overnight with 3g off.
The CDMA version of the 3D has a setting in network that allows you to turn off your mobile network if the screen is off for 5+ minutes. The setting is "turn off always on mobile network". But the screens needs to be off 5 minutes before it will. This setting will not turn off wifi though.

If you wanted to save battery life without downloading anything you could just use the HTC widgets for mobile network, 4g, WiFi, and GPS. This method allows me to switch the settings on and off on the fly. I've also found that if you disable all GPS options it won't be running in the background and for apps that require it. And if I'm in one spot for a while I just use WiFi.

Wi-Fi connected banner at bottom of screen

Is there any way to prevent this banner (picture attached) from appearing when Wi-Fi is initially connected? I use Juice Defender to disable Wi-Fi when the screen is off and it is very annoying to have this pop up every time I unlock the phone.
Every time you unlock the phone? Mine only does that on actual connects and thats it. You must have it set to turn off wifi during sleep? If that is the case... some dev will have to find where that is burried at in the OS. Easier thing to do is let it stay connected. Better on your data anyway and if youre on unlimited still why bother with wifi at that point?

I purposely use Juice Defender to turn off data and Wi-Fi when the screen is off. Both turn back on when the phone is unlocked, which is why it appears every time.
ahhh on rooted phones with custom roms i don't recommend Juice Defender. It's usually more trouble then it's worth and more times then not ppl say it uses more resources then it saves (battery). And why data when screen is off? Just curious since you'll only ever get just texts and calls then and miss everything else notification wise.
My guess for what you're asking for is someone would have to make a special effort to do it.

I would suspect that this may be doing more harm than good for your battery life. My battery will last much longer using wifi if available. Maybe instead of using Juice defender to turn off wifi, you could try using the "wifi off during sleep" option that is built into the phone. I think it will accomplish the same thing and it may disable the pop-up within the system.

I noticed that sometime with this phone (and the S3). "Off" doesn't seem to mean "off" anymore. My phone could mysteriously discover a known wifi network and suggest connecting to it while the wifi is supposedly turned off. If it is truely off, then it wouldn't know there is a network available!

I find that turning data off too dramatically reduces standby drain. It automatically turns back on if an MMS comes in and periodically turns on to receive other notifications. Juice Defender has worked pretty well for me and I'm on CleanROM.
I'm on CleanROM (1.0 still) with no apps to help with battery and i get .25% battery drain while idle (so thats 4 hours before i lose 1%) and 10-11% battery drain per 1:30 min movie with full brightness with WiFi on. How much better can the battery get on a stock battery? I bet you with Juice Defender you don't even get close to that simply because it actually has to run in the background while phone is idle to do it's job.

Without Juice Defender I'd lose 1% every hour and a half on standby. Since installing it, it has been much better.

Battery Drain Issue

Hey guys, so I just got the Z Ultra C6833 with 4.4.4 Kitkat, and battery is going down very fast, and gets me a little worried. I have the brightness set to the lowest, however I am not even using the phone, just simply keeping the screen on with doing nothing and battery is dropping from 100% to lets say 95% in about 1-2 minutes.
Something does not seem right, what do you guys think? Can someone please give me some input. Also no suggestions on rooting or anything like that if wouldn't mind.
This would cause me some bad issues because I cant have my battery drain that fast, just not acceptable.
Thanks.
you can check the battery logs in settings, see if you can find out what uses the battery.
Also, there are some programs you can download that can monitor your device ("CPU Monitor" is one) and tell you what is going on.
do you have location based services turned on, and does the phone get a GPS fix quick?
Download Greenify app and then Greenify all the apps that you don't require to run in the background unnecessarily. It greatly improves battery performance. In addition you can apply the Stamina Mode.

Standby drain

When you sleep, does your phone sleep, or does it stay up all night and crunch 1s and 0s? Rate this thread to express how you deem the speed at which the LG G6's battery drains under standby conditions. A higher rating indicates that when the phone is not in use, the battery drains minimally.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I have been on and off mine all day without heavy use due to being at work, and by the time night came without me charging I was around 79%. This is from 5AM to 11PM. But I must admit... I went into the sttings and set EVERYTHING as inactive that I was able to do so and recommend everyone do it. The apps will never turn on or activate unless you manually open one in which case it will then stay active. It's great for apps that do crap in the background which you never use anyway. Oh, and I use Greenify as well, and always keep my tasks clear. So yeah... I'm used to saving battery by habit so my experience is different from most.
My standby time has been brutal... Would not be using my phone for around 1 hr and then id see my battery drop from a 36 to 30.... I closed all apps and even used the smart cleaner to get rid of some.. I dont know whats the problem to be honest. If they can fix the standby drain i could honestly reach for 5 to even 6 hours of screen on time
My standby has been really good, I can leave it off charge overnight and can only go down 2% or so, but once I start using it the % drops heavily after 5 minutes or so. I've got to go through the settings to turn off notifications because I've noticed apps like candy crush giving me notifications

I agree with jaeyo, my standby time is amazing. Off the charger overnight for 8 hours i only lose 2%. I do have AOD scheduled to turn off from 11p to 5a.

Did you hook your phone up to a computer and use the ADB commands to enable Greenify's aggressive doze? That really helped me, Nougat's built-in doze is still crap compared to Greenify. Also, setting WiFi to inactive while display is off, as well as enabling data saver in data management to restrict mobile background data for all apps helps greatly with wakelocks. Also everyone should consider disabling certain notifications from apps like Maps and Assistant which can create a lot of wakelocks.
I wrote a few tips to help with battery life on Nougat in the G5 section, but it should apply here as well:

Standby time wears on you depending on what apps you got running
?????
I found the culprit. Apparently one of my skin apps was causing wakelocks keeping the phone awake the whole time. Deleted it and installed greenify, will see how things goes

Honestly dont know how to fix this standby drain.. If ibhad root i would easily find the culprit through betterbatterystats but since i dont have that, cant seem to figure out why my standby drain is so high. I would leave my phone on the desk at 30% not using it all and come back 2 hrs later to 16%. Horrible standby time means losing precious screen on time sad sad
