soft-bricked my mtk6582 phone and porting problems - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
Its been more than 10 days i am trying to fix my phone . it is a china phone with mtk6582
I had many popups that was difficult for me to work on the phone (make a call, answer a call, etc)
I managed to root it and install antivirus prog.
the situation was better but still not ok.
Then i installed one prog that could erase system apps and i made a try with game center.
That was the start.
After that the phone boots but it can't load properly. The screen flashes and i can see between the flashes that it tries to load something (the launcher maybe??) .
When i try to unlock the screen i have a steady screen but when unlocked flashes again..
the notification bar works even though the screen flashes.
The unbrick procedure started with trying to install all the ported roms i could find with the porting guides of xda, mtkroms mtkcrom and others.
Still no success.
Now i am trying to learn adb and fastboot
I have cwm 5.5.0.4
I took rom backup with MTKdroidTools after the problem.
I assume that the rom backup is not ok since it is taken from a problematic phone
I think that my problem could be solved easily if i new what to fix in the system folders (file/s missing or correct some info into some file).
I could also do the porting but i had no luck and tried at least 20 times.
this is the listing ebay phone
Please any thought is welcome.

[q] please help unbrick my s4 mini clone

Hello Guys,
I am new to the Android world. I got a s4 mini clone android phone.(Model:GT i9190) few days back. I
rooted with framaroot app successfully. Thats all i probably know about android then so i did not
make any backup,or even know the ram,rom or processor of my phone. I was able to also install the
Rosemary font successfully on my phone. The problem occured when i was trying to change the font to a
bold type of the same font and my phone got stuck in boot loop. It charges, boot to the Samsung logo,
I can enter to the recovery mode, I have wipe cache partition, wipe factory data, reboot and its
still stuck at the samsung logo.
I have also dowwnloaded the Sp flash tool , tried to download a new rom on my phone but all failed,
though i think i have the wrong rom. this are the errors i get while trying to download
BROM ERROR: S_DA_EMMC_FLASH_NOT_FOUND (3144) ,
BROM ERROR:S_FT_ENABLE_DRAM_FAIL (4032) and
BROM ERROR:S_DL_GET_DRAM_SETTING_FAIL (5054) .
I got this errors using different key combinations. As my
PC no longer detects my fone, i use the Meta mode to try to flash or download a new rom. You can the
pictures i have attached. I need help from the members of this great forum. i have read similar
problems and tried them but all to no avail. I must mention that i have tried the methods on win7 and
8 ,on my window 8 i have disable what will not make usb install. cant rember the name at the moment.
I have also used usbdeview to uninstall drivers and install back. Its been five days now. I dont know
if anyone having similar rom can help out. I have tried about 2 roms and both did not work. I have
tried Yuweng and Havunen methods. the flash is not working so am guessing i have a wrong rom. Please
any one that has it can help me with it. Its been five gruesome days for me.
Before it got stuck in bootloop, when the phone is connected to my Pc ,Samsung Kies shows (Serrano3g).
Welda
Don't know about clones or anything but you could try downloading the rom from sammobile.com
And then flash with Odin, go into bootloader mode first

Galaxy S5 Clone - Help to unbrick

Hi there.
I have a Galaxy S5 clone and not sure which exact model it is or which manufacturer it came from.
The phone is not working anymore, after I tried RAM repartition. No reaction at all. Display stays black/off.
When plugged into PC, MTK USB drivers are detected/installed.
Unfortunately I don't have a backup nor a stock ROM and so I am not able to recover the phone.
Here the scatter information:
Hardware : MT6572 (MT6589 is Fake!)
Model : SM-G900H
Build number : ALPS.JB3.MP.V1.8
Build date UTC : 20140626-091826

Uboot build v : -----
LCD Driver IC : 1-sh1282g_dsi_vdo
When trying to flash an alternative ROM via SP Flash Tools, red process bar immediately shows 100% and then it's aborted showing "Error 4032 (Enable DRAM FAILED)"
Photos attached show phone when it previously worked. As you can see there, system information and Antutu Screens already showed "fake informations" about the phone.

It seems there is a lot of people who got in trouble with these phones. Let me pose some questions to all those who are in trouble:
For those who purchased them from EBay (and I assume also AliExpress) there should be good chances of getting a replacement or getting the money back - these frauds are well known and being quietly repressed. I mean, if we don't kick back, things will get even worse.
For all those who are interested, let me pose some basic questions:
Was the phone rooted when you got into trouble?
Did you have a custom recovery installed? CWD?
If yes, did you install ADB Insecure at boot?
What did you do that bricked the phone, and why were you doing it, for which purpose?
Does the phone still connect to the PC? If yes, which kind of drivers get loaded?
Can you still enter terminal mode on the PC and get answer when you issue the ADB devices command from the Android SDK platform? If yes, what happens when you send the ADB reboot bootloader and ADB reboot recovery commands?
Can you still get into recovery by pressing the vol down, start and center buttons?
If you connect the phone (typically - but there maybe variants) switched off and without battery, does it try to install/install the MT65xx preloader driver (a COM port emulator on USB)? Be aware that, if there is no data transfer, these drivers stay up only for a few seconds, even when the driver is correctly installed
You can't anymore connect with the MKTDroids SW, can you?
Most of these phones show two memory areas, a big internal storage, to which the user has no access, and a rather small phone memory. The internal storage in reality maps to a partition that is quite smaller and the values that are shown in the menu are fake - in my case, 7 times bigger than the real.
Everybody who has got a phone of this kind working, even unrooted, can do this simple test. This is what happened on mine:
1) Download a big app such as 3DMark
2) Go to Settings-Memory and take note of the size of the internal storage still available – for me it was 7.64GB
3) Uninstall 3DMark but, just before pressing the button, take note of the size – it is 39.25MB for 3DMark
4) Go to Settings-Memory again and take note of the size of the available internal storage – for me it was 7.91GB
5) Make the difference: 7.91-7.64=0.27GB=276MB. WELL, THIS WAS 7 TIMES THE REAL VALUE: 276/39,25=7.04
If you run parted on such a phone you get error message as the size of partitions is bigger that the ROM disk

Yes. The phone is still bricked. Hang on MTK logo. The phone was flashed with a ROM to get the IMEI working, was no working. No Custom recovery installed.

[Q] Mediatek tablet has watermark after flashing CWM backup

Hello, my device is a 10.1" Mediatek tablet, marketed as Jlinksz model D101. Tablet info from MTK Droid Root & Tools v2.5.3b:
Hardware : MT6572 (MT6582 is Fake!)
Model : D101
Build number : D101_vCC076_20140812
Build date UTC : 20140812-063145
Android v : 4.2.2
Baseband v: MOLY.WR8.W1315.MD.WG.MP.V1.P5, 2014/04/21 14:41
Kernel v : 3.4.5 ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.6.x-google 20120106 (prerelease) (GCC) ) #1 SMP Wed Aug 13 10:58:17 CST 2014
Uboot build v : ----- should be root shell
LCD Driver IC : 1-d101_dpi_lvds
It is running the stock 4.2.2 rom. I rooted it with Framaroot then added CWM. I made & have a MTK Droid Root & Tools system & NAND backup (following the instructions in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2160490), & two CWM backups. My ultimate goal is to swap the SD to alleviate the limited internal storage. I edited the build.prop and rebooted to find that my SD card wasn't found. At that point I decided to flash my CWM backup for the first time. Since flashing my CWM backup I have a red watermark across all system screens "Copyright (c) Jlink Inc. All rights reserved!". When the device first boots the Mediatek logo appears briefly, then the word "Android", then the system. The Mediatek logo & Android screens aren't affected by the watermark. All other screens, regardless of an application running or not, have the watermark. I've searched the forums and haven't found people with the same problem. This watermark issue seems somewhat similar to http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1917262, but I don't know that the solution would be applicable as the device is different. I've been searching "watermark", perhaps a different term is more appropriate? Please push me in the right direction as to how I might be able to remove this watermark. Thanks much!

I actually believe you are telling me you don't know how to search the forums. On the top left of this screen click on the search glass icon. Then, in the "Search all forums" box that appears type "framaroot", and hit enter on your keyboard. Click on the first link and read all the posts in order. When you are finished you will have read how to root the device. Now, click on the search glass icon again. This time type "MTK Droid Root & Tools", and hit enter on your keyboard. Click on the first link and read all the posts in order. When you are finished you will have read how to install CWM on the device.

And even block map can't be read
RootGenius app does not work either.
Is it any possibility to fix this issue, with it WiFi and networking does not work at all ;(
Thank you in advance
Kris
Nobody uses MTK Droid Tool nowadays. The newer MTK devices firmware have bootlock an other stuff. Only the cheaper "disposable" Chinese phones have no bootlock but not 100%, some newer models of these phones firmwares have bootlock even if using the older MTK SoC.
You will first have to try checking your developer option (>About Phone >Build number tap x5 = Developer Option) to see whether you have the "OEM unlock" option and tick that.
Then ADB fast boot "unlock" before you can do any rooting attempt. The best is to install TWRP first to install SuperSU after the boot unlock. The fastest way to Root is to use the Chinese "KingRoot or Kingoroot" (that is 2 different apps).(info : Kingroot site might give you a "dangerous site" warning. No spyware or malware was ever detected by "SpyHunter" after visiting site. But it is also not 100% guaranteed. The result can be different using PC and Android version. Sometimes PC method is not successful the Android is successful and vice versa. There are other shady Chinese rooting apps that I advise you to avoid. Only those 2 mentioned are recommended. the safest is still SuperSU. (If you are afraid that the Chinese would spy on you, you better avoid any Chinese brand devices altogether) My experience in using Oppo, Lenovo, and no names Chinese phones is that the no name Chinese phones are much safer in terms of spying risk. Lenovo/Oppo phones has a few unknown systems app and I caught them using the WiFi and reading my SMS/MMS/Contacts using ADGuard .Even the top rated "Apex Launcher" is a bigger culprit establishing communication with unknown server every 5 minutes.
I have never used MTK Droid Tool to root any of my 11 devices I own. Only through recovery method(SuperSU) or Kingroot method. Once I tried using MTK Droid tool and it failed to root. Thats is my advise.
I also purchased this phone as a spare. It also has the nvram error, but the wifi works regardless. I tried to root with all combinations of kingroot and kingoroot but did not succeed. Did it work out for you? I found the OS on mine very barebones, full AOSP and one cringy launcher I replaced with Nova launcher from Play.

Hi!
I have the same device with the buttons disabled. Do you know how I can enable the buttons? I would like to install a clean AOSP version on it. It would be great if anyone here can provide any assistance.

I found that there are many factory defects w the xs. My wifi worked, but poorly, I had to manually solder the antt wire to the antt sticker. Also the camera had a poor connection. You will have to teardown and investigate.
