I just got my 10.1 a few weeks ago. I did a software update check and it said that there was new firmware out for it. I have my tablet rooted, will updating the firmware through the built in samsung update unroot my tablet? will there be any issues at all? Thanks in advanced
P.S. I have 3.1 right now
Just do a back up using cwm.

Hi,
I am in the UK and have just (a couple of weeks agoe) allowed the OTA update to version 3.2. My tablet was rooted before and remained rooted after.
Everything worked fine.
In most of the cases updating through OTA removes the root and custom recovery.
But it only takes few minutes to get flash CWM and get root back
thanks for all the feedback, however i am having another issue... i downloaded the update and it downloaded fine, when i goes to install it will reboot and goto the the update and will get to 11% and than stop installing and reboot. once rebooted itll say the update failed to install try using the PC (KIES) to update..... tried several times with no luck.... any ideas?

Try Kies if you haven't tried it yet. When 3.2 update came for US tabs many of the tabs were able to update through Kies only. OTA didn't work well.
Just get Odin, Download the firmware from sammobile.com for your tablet [It's their new official site] and flash the firmware/region of your choice. The general root.zip works for 3.2 aswell, just tried it the other day. You are however required to flash CWM 4.0.4 so don't forget that!
PS- Flashing new firmware's unroots it by default. Because by default samsung doesn't want their consumers to have access to the internal system files. This is why rooting is for advanced users :] So people know what they're doing.
I have a Razr XT910 (Rogers, Canada) running stock ICS 4.0.4 which I rooted using this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1710871
After rooting, I deleted some system apps (Rogers bloatware etc). Today, I got a notification of Jelly Bean update. After downloading, when I chose to install it, my phone restarted and at about one third of the process, restarted again and came back to ICS. And then a popup came up saying "Update failed!".
I read that this is because I touched the system folder. So I unrooted it using SuperSU app present. And then did a factory reset erasing everything from the phone. All those crap apps are back now. But when I check for system updates, it says "Your device is up to date". How do I update my phone to stock JB ?
Thanks for your help!
Wait for some time. You might get a notification again.
If in hurry..Go for manual update.

I'm not in a hurry. But it got me worried when the update failed. Full unroot and factory reset is sufficient for resolving the update fail problem ?

When the update installation stopped, the phone rebooted back in ICS. At that time it gave an error "Update failed". That's all.

Alright. Wait for a few days. Update servers are busy sometimes. You shall get a notification again.

See if you can get a go phone sim..You don't have to activate...The phone just needs an att sim to catch the update. At least I think so. An att store should just give you a go phone sim. Tell them you don't have the phone with you and will set it up at home.
57% downloaded. And still going....
Did some reading and read reports of updating with root successful, so after waiting over an hour for 100% download, I restored root and tried to install. Install failed after 25 % downloaded Starting again and will unroot before the install.
Unrooted with voodoo. Stalled at 28%.
3rd times a charm..... Unrooted via supersu. Update installed fine. Now trying Kingo.

OK. It took 3 tries to get kitkat. I ended up with unrooting via supersu. I was able to DL the update, and was able to successfully install te update to 4.4.2. I tried to reroot via voodoo. No Go which I expected. I reinstalled supersu, No go..... I tried kingo..... several times....maybe 3, then my phone rebooted and showed this screen.
I am not rooted according to supersu and rootchecker, However, it looks like my bootloader is unlocked.

Stopped downloading or stopped installing? Mine stopped installing cause I was rooted, and unrooted thru voodoo. I needed to unroot via supersu.
Update installed after unrooting, but now I am not rooted on kitkat and Kingo does not work.
Hello. I upgraded my galaxy s5 to the android 6.0.1 and now it is stuck in the T-Mobile logo. I can feel a small vibration after about 40 seconds as if it were to finish the process of initiation. Yet, it never does. I have wiped the data, dalvik cache, and everything. I have reinstalled the upgrade via odin, also via kies, also via the same phone. But nothing works. In odin i first tried without the option of update phone bootloader, then i tried with it , and nothing works. I went back to 5.1 , and tried going back to 6.0 and nothing. It keeps in the tmobile screen. How long do i have to wait for it to finish the process? I spent 30 minutes waiting, and 30 minutes is NOT USUAL AT ALL!. the most i have had to wait for a device to finally initiate for the first time is about 15 minutes. Any help?

Yeah i have read someone who cleaned the cache partition about 3 times , booting after each time he cleaned the cache, and it worked for him. Although it wasnt an s5. But right now i just installed the 5.1 via odin again, and now im installing the 6.0 again. Then i will try the cleaning the cache several time and see how it goes. Even though i need my device to wake up at 6 tomorrow lol . Lets hope i can fix this.
6.0.1 right? You don't need to go back to 5. Just reinstall 6

I have a question. After the green screen appears and finishes the process, does your device reboot after it says starting apps? Mine did it all the time. It just did it now, but im going to try to wipe cache now. But first, let me wait a couple of minutes (5 minutes) to see if by some miracle it works.
I don't think it should reboot. Cache wipe should do it

I was in a class. Did you reflash marshmallow again with odin 3.11.1 ?

Samsung Kies3 can help you restore your original Samsung ROM (remove custom OS ROM), and it did fix bootloop for my Galaxy s5 recently.
Open Kies 3 and click Tools > "Firmware Upgrade and Initialization"
In order to proceed, you will need enter your device model name and S/N number.

yes. I did it with the 3 latest versions and nothing worked lol. I went back to 5.1 and then flashed a custom rom based on AOSP, Resurrection Remix. Seems like i wont be able to flash 6.0 of stock firmware ever. I have tried every method

I tried kies after i tried odin and it didnt fixed my issue. I tried it 2 times. Then i tried to use the Software updater of the own device in 5.1 firmware, it didnt work either. I think i give up . i spent the whole day trying every single method that came to my head or that i could found. But none of them worked. I dont feel like spending 30 minutes flashing the whole thing again going back and forth, wiping, etc...
Hard reset is gonna be your best bet if you haven't done it already
Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk
Only hard reset might not be sufficient,
I tried once, and the hard reset plus 10 times of wiping dalvik and normal cache was able to fix bootloop.
But stuck in bootloop, my phone was not able to enter stock/TWRP recovery to perform the necessary master reset and cache clean.
Therefore when bootloop problem came back again later, my only solution was to try Kies 3, and Kies 3 was able to control my phone and fix bootloop while my phone was stuck in bootloop.

I tried all that several times and nothing. Do you know all the stuff that one can dk from 9 am to 11 pm? I even downloaded 5 6.0 firmwares from different sources each, including sammobile.com. and tried kies, odin (3 versions) , OTA, wiping only cache, wiping dalvik cache, wiping data and factory reset, wiping everything, wiping nothing,
Just to let people know. If you are in the same situation than me i have solved the issue. There were some files in my Micro Sd card that were affecting the installation process. Now i removed the sd card and the process finished successfully. Thank you for suggestions anyway.
Yea it should have been formatted along with the factory reset from the get go.

I just factory reset my phone and when I try to boot in all I get is "Unfortunately, System UI has stopped." ... All I wanted to do was a quick rest...
Anyways, can anyone help me get the STOCK rom for ROGERS SM-N910W8??? All of the websites offering stock roms are outrageously slow downloads and ask for money to download at a reasonable pace... I'm sure someone out there may have an account/rom handy??? Or maybe a workaround...
Help please I need my phone for work Tomorrow... I'm at the point where I just want to flash Stock Rom on it.
Download this app from Google Play and refresh the model # if it matches yours to find compatible downloads. Might find a faster download with it if you have a fast connection on your phone. Otherwise, the actual site on PC may do better.

I can't get into my phone, at all. It will give me the error on boot and I literally cannot get in. I'm stuck at a black screen with the popup coming up endlessly. No access to settings, no access to Playstore, all I can do it power menu by holding the power key and TWRP.
I've cleared data and cache, wiped everything, deleted all user apps, and tried factory reset multiple times from TWRP with no luck. Maybe a could flash someone elses System UI from a stock rom if they have it zipped? I don't know...

See if this is your firmware. It was the only firmware the app pulled up for Rogers.
Samsung Switch or KIES may work too. But it seems there's some extra steps involved to get those to update rooted devices. May need to Google some tutorials for those, if rooted.

Everything is back up and running... Thanks a lot for the link! I had to clear all the cache, and then re-root... Now I have to be more careful I guess? The original issues was kind of random... So I don't really know what It happened.
Thank you very much guys!
