Hello ppl,
i got a big problem, i hope someone can help me.
A friend of mine, gave me his galaxy s 2 to fix it. It just showed the battery icon with a circle running into it.
I fixed it with the JIG and got into download mode.
Everything is fine until now, even the flash with Odin shows success, but the phone just wont start up.
It doesnt matter what i do, or flash, its stuck in the samsung galaxy s II screen.
Download Mode is working, but Recovery not. When i try to enter the recovery mode, the phone hangs with the same screen like above.
Is there anything i could try to fix this?
Thank you
geminga
Okay relax, as you can get into download mode, there's a chance that you can still fix it.
I think you're running the wrong kernel or modem here.
I advice you to freshly install a new rom, and then install a CF-Rooted kernel that allows you to get back into recovery.
Once you got that worked out, get into recovery and select Wipe/factory reset. It should boot now.
If this still does not solve your problem, install VillainRom 2.0 using the process described in the thread. I had the bootloop problem too, but Wiping, Flashing and Wiping again did the trick for me.
Thank you mate I will try this later. Im will report if I was successful. (i hope so)
I flashed 2.3.4 ROM with Odin and then CF-Recovery but i can still not access recovery mode. It shows the yellow triangel but still hangs with the samsung galaxy screen.
I think that phone has become a nice paperweight...
As 2.3.4 is a test release i would try older stable firmware .
Flash a stock 2,3,3 rom via Odin and see if it boots .

Is there something for Samsung that completely replaces everything including ROM,recovery and such things?
From my desire I know, if a RUU can't boot your phone it is 100% bricked. So I need something like that for that sgs2, to be sure that this is no hardware failure...
I will try some flashes and report after that.
Sent from my HTC Pyramid using XDA App
what i would do is install one of these carrier branded ROMs http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113928
and see if it boots, if it does then flash the cfroot [specific to the carrier version you choose e.g. KF2] make sure thats the right one. that should give you recovery as prodygee has said. then do a full wipe, system, data, cache, dalvik and reboot.
afaik this should work. that's worked for me on numerous bootloops!
Hope this helps, Rumble
solved [Arrow Galaxy s 2 wont start]
i just followed this link... >>1.Make sure that your phone is Samsung Galaxy S2 not any other. If you try this process on any other phone then the phone will be damaged.
2.Create a backup of your all useful phone data with the help of backup apps that ensure your phone data.
3.This process will take several minutes or may be hours so make sure that your phone battery consumption is maximum.
4.Remove the SIM card and external storage SD card.
5.Download both these files.

it worked perfectly for me
Alright, so here's my problem:
I just upgraded to the Galaxy S III yesterday, and today decided to try to 'root' the device. So I found the Toolkit here on XDA (from here), and went through the initial steps without any issues (driver installation, device recognition, etc..).
I then went to the 'rooting option' menu, where I selected the first--and most basic --option, which was to only install Super User, and the push the permissions.
I was following the automated guide, opened Odin, selected the correct file, 'boot-insecure-i9300xxale8-gsm.tar', and made sure only 'auto-restart' and F.reset time' were checked, and clicked 'start'. The flash appeared to have gone well, but when it tried to restart, the phone never rebooted. I attempted to reboot into download mode (Vol. Down + Home + Power), but the device was unresponsive. I then browsed around the forums a bit looking for other methods, including taking the battery out for several minutes, then putting it back in whilst holding down the 'download mode' button combination, and other various variations of that method; yet again, none prevailed.
The device gives no indicator lights when plugged in, no light up when the power button is held down, and is overall seemingly unresponsive. However, when I hold down the 'home' button alone - after about 30 seconds - a green vertical battery appears on the screen, with a little white loading indicator on it, but vanishes after about 5 seconds or so, and the device becomes unresponsive once more.
The device is not being recognized by my computer whatsoever, no beeps or anything when plugged in.
Any ideas as to what I can do?
EDIT: I have been able to get into 'Download mode' somehow, but after trying to reflash the stock rom, it went back to the 'Unresponsive' mode. I have it in Download mode again currently, so what do I do from here?
I assume it is still under warranty, since it is less than a few days old. Return it to the store claiming hardware malfunctioning.
Forget about the toolkit. In my opinion, it's quite useless (as you know by now), and it tends to automate tasks that are simple by nature.
Even although I appreciate the effort the developers of the toolkit put into it, I would never do it, since I want to have control of the entire process: I want to know exactly what is being done and why, and that is something the Toolkit won't give me.
If you want to root your phone and keep it stock, do this:
- Install the drivers for the device.
- Install SiyahKernel for S3 version 1.3 using ODIN.
- Install superSU (from market) and let it update it's binary su
- Install MobileOdin (free version)
- download the latest Samsung ROM (such as DBT [Germany] or ITV [Italy]) using CheckFus downloader
- copy the downloaded and unzipped ROM to your phone's external SD card (just the .md5 file)
- using MobileODIN, flash the ROM and select the "EverRoot" feature
- after reboot the ROM will be updated, stock, but with root
- Install TriangleAway to get rid of any annoying triangles and to reset the binary counter
Done. supposing the ROM is already downloaded, the entire process takes exactly 4 minutes.

Thank you so much for responding!
I have the phone in download mode right now though, as I've been able to get that far. Is there anything I can do from here to fix the issue? I really don't want to take it back up, and face the chance of confrontation if they decided to call me out on the issue.
I tried flashing the Sinyah Kernel via Odin just now, using the PDA mode, but once again, just flashes the Samsung logo for a brief second, and disappears, leaving me with a black screen.
Samsung don't seem to really care if you have rooted or not, so far about 4 people in 2 days on this and other for mums have returned phones because they have possibly bricked them, all got them exchanged with out a problem.
To unroot and return your galaxy S3 to stock for warranty watch this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8Tga_yKywc&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Flash a stock rom for your phone and location or if it was a branded phone flash that .
Even if it does not boot you stand a better chance under warranty .
Say you where doing a Kies update and it just failed to reboot .

I tried to reboot the stock firmware 'boot-stock-i9300xxale8-gsm.tar', but when Odin failed to reboot the phone, and I manually put it back into download mode, it still said my binary was 'Custom'.
Should I be trying to flash that under 'Bootloader' in Odin or something? Because I've been doing 'PDA' and it hasn't been working.
Download an original, stock ROM from samsung-updates.com or use checkFus downloader.
That is what you'll flash.
This is the one I use: http://samsung-updates.com/get/1932/Samsung_Firmware_GT-I9300_DBT_I9300XXALF6_Android_4_0_4.html
After some further browsing, I was able to fix it thanks to this post here, posted by 'mskip'.
Whew! That was stressing. Thanks guys for helping out though!

Just keep trying,I must have removed the battery and pressed the buttons over six times to get into download mode. Hope you get there.
hi,
For a day now I've been trying to figure out the way around my problem and I couldn't. But I'm just a beginner, I hope you guys can help.
short version: After official OTA update my stock, unrooted GT-I9300 boots only until one of the logo screens. I want badly to keep apps data, especially sms'es and voice recorder files. Downloading the update via KIES in download mode repeats update procedure but then again the boot ends on samsung logo screen (the one with just 'samsung' letters if that matters).
longer version: I've been using stock ROM forever and lived happily with stock ROM on Android 4.3 (except for laaags) Yesterday I went to check if an update is available - it was, so I downloaded it. It was all fine, I got to 'optimizing app 222/222' screen then the phone rebooted. It went through GT-I9300 screen, carrier screen, and in the end it stuck on pulsing LED and letters on the screen: 'SAMSUNG'. And now it happens each time I turn the phone on. I can still go to download mode easily and to recovery mode too.
I've reinstalled the update used KIES (2.6.3.14044_14) with the phone in download mode but that gets me to the same place (optimizes all 222 aps, reboots and hangs up at the same sceen).
Is there a way to have this fixed while keeping apps data?
this thread gives me hope there is, since there are 'NO WIPE' files, but sadly this one is only for US Verizon, not international..
(as a newb I can't post links but it's there) - s3forums site, thread galaxy-s3-hacking-mods/3292-guide-unbrick-restore-your-galaxy-s3-back-100-stock
my device:
Samsung Galaxy S III GT-I9300 (International), carrier - Orange Poland
Android 4.3, no root, Stock ROM
There is a good chance you only need to factory reset the phone but in that you will lose your data. You can try odin and flashing the latest stock rom for your phone (orange poland). Do not flash any other carrier, do not do anything with a pit file. Do not attempt to go back to the old firmware unless it was an earlier 4.3.
Get your carrier update from samsung updates and a copy of odin.
Put your phone in download mode via vol down +home +power and then connect it to the pc on a usb cable
Open odin, click "ap" or "pda" (same button, different versions) and select your poland orange 4.3 rom and then click "start".
Wait until the phone fully reboots and odin says "pass". Disconnect the phone.
This shouldn't wipe data but if this doesn't work then you have to bite the bullet and factory reset.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
thanks. I tried various firmwares - branded and non-branded, current and a previous one (but also 4.3) - but I still got locked on the same screen. After factory reset it stayed on the very same screen for a minute, but then it came back to life.
From the beginning:
SCH-I545
Used Samsung Smart Switch to update. Seemed to go good, rebooted to the Verizon screen and froze. Battery pulls didn't do anything different. (Notes: Lollipop android with animated antane, charging animations were working. beyond that I don't know what build I was on)-I have to assume I'm on OF1.
Next I try to flash an unbrick {http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-verizon/general/how-to-update-to-i545of1-5-0-1-keeproot-t3182544}
That failed in Odin (wasn't smart enough to copy the Log)
Now: I am stuck with Odin mode "Software Update Failed" telling me to connect to Verizon software to fix. Smart Switch can't connect. But Odin can. Cannot boot into recovery, takes me the the Odin Mode.
So fingers crossed someone can link me to a stock flash?
I'm not looking to root this phone, but if that's easier than going to stock lollipop then I'll take it.
reading up on this thread since it fixed his problem.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-verizon/help/unbrick-taking-oc1-t3122230
Update:
Odin flashed a few of1 unbricks. Most failed, one passed. But black screens after Samsung logo.
Need an Odin flash for of1 and oc1
When I'm home I'll update with the links to the unbrick that worked but didn't work.
Hey Guys I'm new to this forum and apologies if this has been covered and would be grateful if someone to point me to the right direction. Link-drive.google.com/file/d/0BwqxONwTQDjiSkF3VWN0UmpFSHc/view?usp=sharing
So just briefly the problem at hand : I did an update to 6.0.1 and after this update my fone screen motion sensor stop working, didnt switch when i turn the fone side ways and also the games with motion requirement didnt work. So just recently there was an heartstone(Blizzard game update) I did the update the fone was working fine till i manually did a restart, thats when my s5 g906s went into bootloop. with a little distortion on the bottom right hand corner. Link-drive.google.com/file/d/0BwqxONwTQDjiSkF3VWN0UmpFSHc/view?usp=sharing
1.)I've already tried to restore it with kies3 manually added the S/N and IMEI it completes but same bootloop with a little distortion on the bottom right hand corner.
2.)I tried to go into recovery mode by pressing Power+Home+Volume Up but it wont enter that mode.
3.)I tried to Use Odin with the fone variant with full AP,BL,CP,CSC and pit ODIN loads all files and give me a PASS message but after this when the fone restarts it tries to go into recovering mode(top lefthand in blue) but it just turns off with a vibrate. Link - drive.google.com/file/d/0BwqxONwTQDjiVHV2RGxrSVRRNU0/view?usp=sharing
4.) So i though the recovery is faulty so i tried to flash a recovery unofficial_philz_touch_6.48.4-g906s_hsk.tar but i get this error
<ID:0/005> FAIL! (Auth)
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
After this i read some threads saying I need root so i tried to flash from autoroot_chainfire_eu but same <ID:0/005> FAIL! (Auth) error.
Now im just stuck, what am i doing wrong? Please if someone can help me out a little would mean a great deal, thanks.
Create an account on Sammobile to get the firmware.
Use the Search to find the required firmware – enter your Galaxy S5 model number which you can find in Settings > More > About Device > Build Number.
Download the correct stock Android firmware file that matches with your SGS5 model.
Extract the contents of zip file and you would find a .tar.md5 file.
Also, download Odin 3.09 from here. Extract and save the files on your PC.
How to unbrick Samsung Galaxy S5:
Turn your Samsung Galaxy S5 off, remove battery and re-insert after some ten seconds.
Boot Galaxy S5 in Download Mode.
Launch Odin on your computer and connect your Galaxy S5 to PC using a USB cable.
Once successfully connected, click on the AP button on Odin.
Locate the .tar.md5 stock Android firmware file extracted earlier.
Don’t touch any other settings except ensuring that Re-partitioning is disabled.
Click on the START button to initiate the process.
After the flashing process is finished successfully, it will reboot and you will be able to set it up with your Gmail account
Dont forget to install phone drivers and use stock USB

Ah, you beat me to it. Also OP, don't forget to boot into recovery and wipe the data otherwise you'll be stuck in another bootloop, I don't know why but I have to do this on all devices when flashing stock ROM.

hai, i having same problem like you with my sm-g906s
before having this issue, my phone is working fine with with android 6.0.1 (PDA G906SKSU1CPF3 | build: 2016-07-10),
than 2 days ago i decided to upgrade it to (PDA G906SKSU1CPL1 | build: 2017-01-03), all the firmware i get from sam mobile.
odin process is working fine, and pass it until my phone showing my homescreen, and i can do anything even installing some aplication from playstore. just looks like it working fine, but im not tested all sensor with this firmware.
the problem is starting when i restart my phone, my phone is having bootloop, no recovery mode, and having same screen distortion like yours, in the bottom right corner.
after that i doing flash again, trying get back to G906SKSU1CPF3 version, but not working good. odin pass it, but bootloop issue still happen. after that, i trying download all android 6.01 and one version of 5.0.1 at sammobile, and flash it one by one, nothing work with my phone. trying to install twrp recovery with odin, is also not work. it confused me, because i dont know what im doing wrong
the phone work, after installing android 4.4.2 G906SKSU1ANFI | build: 2014-06-29. it can fix bootloop, and in this case, i can use my phone again, but with old firmware, screen distortion issue, and not working motion sensor..
installing twrp recovery 3.0.0-0 v4 can be done with odin with this 4.4.2 firmware, but twrp v5 and above is not working.
i get this recovery from https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/development/recovery-twrp-recovery-v2-8-7-0-t3199011
after that, i using twrp to wipe my phone, with hope it can fix the problem, but nothing happen even after wiping system, and reflash again 4.4.2 with odin. until now still having same problem, but at least i can use my phone
hope you discover better solution, and share with me, because im not sure this is hardware problem.
it sound like the recovery image is corrupted, try SmartSwitch, is a tool from Samsung. Use Emergency software recovery n Initialisation
