Hey all
My friend got a new Samsung Galaxy S 6 through Sprint. I too have a Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6.
His phone was activated with a random number He called Sprint to have his original number from AT&T put on the phone and that process took place fine.
Here is the scenario....he calls me from his phone. His desired original AT&T number shows up. No problem
I call him dialing his desired old number...his phone rings just fine. No problem with calls.
I text him to his desired number...works great.
Here is the problem:
He texts me back...it shows with a wrong number.....the original random sprint number....NOT the new (old) ATT number. I try to call that number back and it is not a working number.
We have talked to Sprint and they had him punch in some numbers with pounds to reset his phone but the problem persists. I am thinking it is my phone but don't really know what to do from here.
Bottom line...his phone texts me with a wrong number and it does not happen to other people.
Any advice would be appreciated!
SOLVED
The problem was with AT&T not completely porting the number. No issues now.

I flashed this device to verizon and it worked fine until i ran a program called wifi kill. Idk what the program did but it reverted all of my flash information back to sprint. So i had the flash redone again and now Im having issues.
I can make calls and send texts but i cannot receive the calls. The calling phone gets the ringing tone but the HTC does not ring at all. also I cannot receive texts. I text myself and the texts only come in when I make an outgoing call on the device or when i first torn on the device, the texts come in but after 10 seconds, no more texts enter the phone.
Can anyone help or have any clue to why this has happened?
And my data is working fine. 3G
Do you have the Verizon prl installed? Other than that it might be screwy bc you're not supposed to be on that network. Verizon doesnt recognize your number?
I'm sure you have heard it all before, but sprint can terminate your account for doing what you're doing.
i got it all sorted out. No i dont have an account with sprint. I specifically bought this phone to flash it. I bought it with a bad esn.

What did it end up being?
Okay, I'm really getting desperate. T-Mobile doesn't seem to be able to help me, and I'm thinking that XDA may be my next best hope.
My question is a general one about cell phone service. I am on the Galaxy Note II.
I am using T-Mobile service, and I have been for 2 months. During my time with them, I have had a lot of trouble being able to receive calls. Randomly, people will say that they were unable to reach some of the lines on my account. It is generally people calling from landline phones, as far as I know. T-Mobile had an outage in my home area today and my service was terrible. I started looking for a VOIP app in the meantime. I decided to try "Bobsled by T-Mobile." When I attempted to call my mother, who has a line on my account, it displayed her number properly, but when I tried to call her and it actually said the number couldn't be completed as dialed. When I looked at my screen, it had removed a number from the area code. For example, her number is 540-xxx-xxxx, but on the screen, the app said it was calling 54 xxx-xxxx. Any ideas what could cause this. I'm thinking it might have something to do with how the SIM card is configured, but I can't be sure.
Any ideas?
Just got a Galaxy S3 on Three UK network, really cheap and great deal! Love the phone to bits!
However, I got my number transferred to Three. It went down completely fine, when I call phones its showing my transfered number, the one I wanted, and I'm receiving texts to the correct number. However, if I go to phone status, it shows my old number. Is this number stored on the phone somewhere or is is (I'm assuming) assigned by the network at bootup? If so, how do I go about fixing this? Its not causing any problems whatsoever, its just a rather annoyance that its displaying the wrong number.
Anyone?
Get them to send you a new SIM
Or pop your SIM in an old Nokia/Sony Ericsson phone and enter your new number in the SIM.

OK this is my first post and it's a weird one. I've always known phones to be useless without a SIM card except for emergency calls. Well today I purchased an S4 on Craigslist. As I was bringing it home, it started to ring. I didn't answer it and shortly after I received a text. There was no SIM in it so I thought it was weird but left it alone.
When I got home, I did a factory reset, put in my old SIM card and activated it to my number. Everything went well - received texts normally, emails worked great, called my husband's phone and worked great until I looked at his phone and saw that the number that popped up wasn't mine, it was the old number. Tried calling my phone with his and went straight to vmail.
Seems like everything activated correctly except for the phone function. Called Verizon and the rep thought it was odd as well since texts went through, but could not figure it out. The rep said the phone is probably tampered with, but I've never heard of anything that could make phone calls without a SIM or wifi.
I reactivated my old phone and left the S4 with no SIM and it's still able to make/receive phone calls!! Weird!
All IMEI numbers match, physical and in About Phone even on box. Phone is not rooted according to Root checker.
Please someone tell me what this is so I can just can undo it and activate my number to the new phone.
Thanks

Maybe Verizon or an emergency service was trying to call you... They don't need a sim for that.
The old phone issue is normal every time they port a number or switch a number they [email protected]#$ it up I've had it happen a couple times it on their end not yours

The Sim is only for LTE service, you use built in CDMA radios for calling.
I honestly don't know about the number issue, take it to a corporate Verizon store (the private stores only care about sales not customer service) to have them properly activate it.

Sounds like the phone is set to nv-only mode. The vzw s4 is fully operational in this mode but it won't pull your phone info from the sim card.
This is the mode we put the phone in when flashing to carriers like page plus, selectel, etc.
If you want, you can PM me the meid of the device and/or the phone number the calls are being placed with. I'll check to see if it's an active page plus account.
