[Leran and Study] making a custom ROM - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey, at first many thanks to XDA Android Development and Developers. I like android smart phone when I meet XDA Android Development. If there is no android developments, many android users will choose iOS iPhone.
I know S6/edge is still new system by SAMSUNG and many difficult things to hack them. Or I can do something for the S6/edge developers to learn and study? I am a newbie in android development. But I have many free times and I wanna learn. Thanks in advance.

Going to begin android development, need advice

I have a very ambitious idea for android that could potentially be worth a lot of money. However, I am not familiar with android and will have to spend some time creating apps and learning the sourse.
What are some good tools/sources to learn about android development? Is Android Development for Dummies a good learning tool?
Also how do I apply for the app developer program from google?

[Q] General Knowledge ROM Question

Hello People,
I have a keen interest in Android and ROMs etc but no programming or development knowledge, just an interest. I've rooted and put a couple of different ROMs on my old HTC Desire thanks to XDA and its community of developers and will do the same with my SGT10.1 as soon as ICS is stable and has a working camera .... Thank you all!
What I'd like to know is what's different between Google releasing ICS and say Microsoft releasing Windows 7? Why can't I go to a shop or website, purchase or download ICS and install it on my device in a similar fashion to installing a new OS on my PC?
It seems to the ignorant (me) that they make life very difficult for the devs on this site and others! I appreciate that this is probably a stupid question, but I would really be grateful for someone to take a min to explain, for example, what happens after the developers get a copy for the ICS open source code and before they/you grace us with a stable build for a device? Why is the completed ICS from Google not suitable to simply install? One reason that comes to mind is device drivers! Maybe I've just answered my own question!!!
Again, thanks for all the hard work ... whatever it is?
Not meant to sound rude, but do you really want to wait a few years between gingerbread and ice cream sandwich, pay a ridiculous amount for it, and still have to update it almost constantly?
The difference is Microsoft and generous developers.
Microsoft makes millions.
Android open source developers get self satisfaction and other things, but very little, if anything, in monetary payment (donations).
I know Google is a huge money corporation, but I would hate to see things go the way Microsoft does things in regards to operating systems software.
There are many technical reasons related to the many thousands of different devices, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to comment, so I'll leave that to someone else who is.
Actually, I think you did your own question.

Developers, Developers, Developers...!

I see many people carrying SGSIII's, but I see a large amount of users owning the great SGA. The SGA was at some point the 4th most popular Android phone, here is an article that backs me up scientifically: http://opensignalmaps.com/reports/fragmentation.php
So why does this phone receive so little love from XDA Devs or other places like CM?
I wish I had the will power to learn to become a developer, but it is just not in me, I am just a noob who loves to live on the edge by risking to brick his SGA everyday while flashing new ROMs.
I wish for this thread to be received with the same good intentions I meant it to be for.
Being a developer is hard and time-consumptive activity.
You need to know Java, C, C++, xml, bash, elements of smali.
Plus have ability to read logcats and patience to solve all of the errors. This section has many great developers and hundreds of ROMS. You should feel lucky
You can become developer too. Just practice
xda-developers.com is a forum recognized worldwide. I appreciate the fine work that is presented daily in all XDA sections. Thank you developers, moderators.

[Q] Question to all Developers and Themers

If time is available I'm very interested in the android platform and I need help from everyone. I wanted to know if any themers or app developers or rom developers could share with me what kind of training, schooling, etc they have that got them where they are with android and if they have a primary career. I just have questions about going to school and stuff. Thank you ffor your time.
Hi.
I've learnt to theme from reading, experimenting, bootlooping, reflashing, trying again and doing it all over until I'd figured something out and still learning today. It's a hobby that's quite addictive and depending on what you want to learn depends on how much of your free time you can dedicate to doing so.

[Q] How to become a rom developer?

Howdy everyone!
After using android for a few years (since 2011) and experimenting with a lot of roms and kernels, I am now looking to take the next step: to become a rom/kernel developer!
My problem is, I have no programming or developing experience, AND I don't know any programming language. So I am a complete beginner at that stage.
Therefore I ask you guys, where do I start my journey to become a rom/kernel devloper?
Many thanks for all help!

Good plan... but you are asking in the wrong place. XDA has a number of forums catering for ROM cooking and development. These are Android specific rather than phone specific and therefore far more appropriate than this forum.
Suggest you start here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/ and have a look through the many and varied areas that will help you.

Install the Android sdk, ADB, Java\Eclipse, and get prepared for lots of reading Set up decompiling and deodexing programs/environments (ApkMultiTool, Tickle My Android, etc) Search in Android General and other subforums, there is a TON of stuff to learn on this site! Entire sections devoted to teaching this kind of thing.
