hey if somebody can help me would be greatly appreciated.
yesterday in the evening while in school I placed my s6 edge on ultra power saving mode, at which point the phone went into a bootloop and got stuck at the android upgrading screen until the battery ran out. I got home and placed the phone on the charger until it was fully charged but everytime I try to restart the phone (pressing both power and vol down) it gets stuck at Tmobile white screen.
I have not rooted my phone so not sure what my options are, is there anything I can flash through Odin?

I had that problem too. Reflashing the kernel fixed it. Not sure if that'll work for you. It could be locking up for several reasons.
yea I would gather that flashing a kernel would mean to have twrp, mines still stock un rooted, do you think flashing the latest firmware would help?

ok so my (edit) *Vibrant is not booting up...
I press the power button, the vibrant turns on, logo pops up, boot animation, Tmobile animation and galaxy s animation plus sound all happened, The phone gets to the lock screen and within 3 seconds just shuts down.
Anyone know what could be wrong.
Phone is stock, neither romed or rooted. is this a battery issue, hardware or software
Does it boot up when you have it charging? And which phone is it, the Vibrant or the Captivate? Those are 2 different phones.

If you can boot into stock recovery/download mode, just do a factory reset or flash the stock rom using odin

Maybe you have a defective bootloader or phone. If it's still under warranty, just bring it back to T-Mobile and exchange it.
was trying to fix a vibrant for a friend of mine with a very similar problem
after many hours of work w/ odin & attempting to flash different things.. i concluded that it was hardware related bc i made it all the way to stock but it would just shut down randomly
does it give any sort of message when it shuts off? or just goes black?
have you dropped it a lot?

im starting to think its hardware related as well. at time when i boot into stock recovery the battery logo just shows up, the android man with the the exclamation point. idk if up to a certain level of currect is drained the battery shorts out. how can i possibly test the battery??
There is no message or anything... as soon as it boots up to the lock screen it just goes black.
i just acquired this phone. I have a HTC Glacier that i use for my everyday. this used to be my friends old phone and it started doing this, he just got another one and gave me this said if i could fix it i could have it to mess around with. as far as i know it hasnt experienced much rough and tough life. on the outside it looks almost brand new.
So I bought a brand new battery and the vibrant won't even charge the new battery...

sorry to revive this but did you try cleaning the battery contacts?
You probably moved on with life lol
My galaxy note won't stop restarting itself
I tried rooting the phone, unfortunately I used the wrong ROM file and ended up flashing it with the root ROM for the i717 AT&T model. The phone is actually the SHV-E160L model and I tried downloading the E160ROM.
The phone keeps showing the samsung logo, vibrates, and restarts.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Put it back into download mode and flash proper stock rom through odin. That should fix bootloop

It seems to have worked
Thank you so much, the start screen now has a pink logo instead of the normal samsung splash screen but I don't care
Edit:
My happiness was a bit premature, although the phone now starts up and most things work, the home and return keys do not respond though they light up and attempting to call someone crashes the android core
Hey all! Im new to xda-developers I decided to post here because I honestly got alot of help from here already. So anyway, here goes....I used ODIN to flash a new firmware onto my GS2(i9100) and all went well..got the green "PASS" box and whatnot.
Shortly after the phone rebooted but here is where my problem starts. The phone is stuck on the "Glowing S" screen (Picture of a large S animating/changin colours and Samsung Galaxy SII written at the bottom)
It has been sitting here for nearly an hour now. I have tried pressing and holding the power button and battery pulls but to no avail.
I can enter ODIN mode (vol - , HOME, POWER) but I cannot get into recovery. Everytime i press (VOL+,HOME,POWER) the green android robot just sits there for maybe 5 secs and then the phone reboots and gets stuck AGAIN >_<
I don't know what to do Its ok if i need to wipe my data etc bcuz i got backups
My concern is getting my phone in working order again and ASAP because I need my phone for my work
If you can get into download mode just re flash the ROM again, the same thing happened to me and this fixed it

I reflashed a million times (ok 7 times really) but same thing
i reallly REALLY dont want to hear my phone is bricked :/ if i cant sort it out i would carry it in to the local store but they gave me an estimated time of 3 weeks because the owner would be out of town :crying:
Probably just needs a factory reset.
Next time list the firmware(s).Thats more important than an owners holiday arrangements.
Similar problem
My phone is stuck after the Samsung galaxy S2 screen. I took it to the service center but no luck. They said I ll have to flush the software privately because it was bought in Singapore (overseas model) and India software doesn't work or change my complete board to an India board. Any idea on how I can go about fixing it ?
get into recovery & clear data/cache
I have the GS4 (Verizon, jellybean 4.3) , rooted using open1your1eyes0 method. Was going along with out a problem, until last night.
I used no bloat to kill (an backup) a few system apps when the S4 screen went streaky (as of the battery weren't connected well).
I turned it off and rebooted, but I couldn't get past the Verizon splash screen, tried this a few times, then I tried to do a factory reset (hold Vol up/Home and power buttons).
Did the reset, when the phone rebooted, the start up wizard got though one screen and got a message that the startup wizard had crashed, tried to reboot a few times same message.
Tried rebooting again, mainly lags on the V Splash screen, but on occasion will briefly go to the lock screen and then get a message "com.android .phone" had crashed.
I had not made any backups (Stupid I know and this from a guy that as three back ups of his desktop systems), but I have my wife's untouched S4 can I use that to bring this one back to life?
any suggestions?
You can try to Odin back to stock MDK or ME7 depending on your build.

I had found that and you confirmed that was the way to go.
Followed the directions, all went well back up and running again.
Thank you again.
Hey guys, I am really hoping someone can help me. I just rooted my sm-n9005 note 3 from Sprint using cf-autoroot. I then flashed TWRP to my phone using Odin. Everything was working fine until about an hour ago. Then all of a sudden my sd card was not being recognized and my apps started stopping without even being open. Settings even would stop working at times. I tried to turn the phone off and it would start to shut down and then it would just be a blank screen with the red light and soft keys illuminated. I waited a bit and pulled the battery. I then tried to boot into recovery and it goes to the teamwin screen and just stays there. I pulled the battery again and the phone turned on so I tried to go into goo manager and reboot into recovery from there and when I hit yes to reboot it just sticks, it doesnt reboot. But if i hit the home button it will go to the home screen.I tried to do a factory reset and it just spins and spins. I cant seem to get into recovery mode. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

yes. I am sorry sm-n900p.
Now even though i select allow debugging it wont boot to download mode...anyone?
i am more than likely screwed now huh?
So long as you can still get into download mode you're probably OK. I'd get the latest TWRP and try flashing it on Odin to see if that fixes the recovery problem. Once in recovery is wipe cache and dalvik, reboot and let it sit for a few to settle in then reassess

Try getting into download by completely powering down. Then press and hold power, home button and volume down.

Yup, as the gentleman above recommended, power down completely, then perhaps remove the battery, wait a tick, battery back in, power + home + volume down, then at caution screen volume up to confirm.
You're now in bootloader/download mode. Ready to flash from PC Odin.

No doubt. A week ago, I had some heavy duty devs trying to troubleshoot why I could not overclock above 1.74GHz. Turned out that I had the CPU set to limit in power saving mode. That was like a two hour foray. Thought of it in the morning. Deselected it, could clock as I pleased.

Just flash the stock tar or one-click and stay on it for a bit. No flashing of anything until you get back to a working phone.
