Oh, so I have an Xperia tablet z spg321 Lte on 5.1.1
It's driving me nuts as I need root so that I can use keymapping and six axis apps for remote play. So far I have figured out how to unlock the bootloader using flashtool. Now I need to know what the best rom to flash is, preferably pre rooted.
Also it would be good if the rom was ftf format for use with flashtool, as I don't feel confident enough for command line flashing. What I have in mind is something that is just a straight easy flash and done. Can anyone advise me and point to me to where to get the rom files.

It's easier to flash 5.0.2 firmware via flashtool, install XZDR recovery 2.8.22 beta (option 3 . Installation on an unrooted ^(Lollipop 5.0^) ROM using rootkitXperia), enter recovery, (wipe dalvik cache, system) and flash 5.1.1 PreRooted.
Messing with bootloader unlock leads to TA-partition wipe, which can't be restored (if you didn't make backup).
I've a Xperia Tablet Z LTE. It's rooted and also I use sixaxis game controller on it for my PS3 controller. I guess PreRooted lollipop 5.1.1 is best for gaming.
You can find the ROM here

I have a Sony Xperia Tablet Z, 64GB WiFi (SPG312) running stock 4.3, and I can not root this thing. I've tried several different methods to no avail. Does anyone on here know how to root this thing? I'm ultimately trying to install CM11.
Either go back to 4.2, root with Doom's Rootkit, then install a recovery, and install 4.3 already rooted, or unlock your bootloader, install CM kernel, use the recovery built in to install the SuperUser zip, then flash stock kernel again.

So unlock the bootloader? How do I go about that? And after that I can install CM right from there? That sounds like the one thing I haven't tried.
How do I go about doing that?

Follow that link. It's pretty easy. Just make sure you have all the tools in hand. Shouldn't take more than a hour to read everything and do the procedure, if you have everything ready.
It's mentioned there, but remember that it will void your warranty and, with Android 4.3 or lower, on stock ROMs, you will not have Bravia Engine working. Also, in any version, Music and Video Unlimited will not work anymore.
Another big tip: Go to the Xperia Z section (the phone one), and on the sub categories, can enter one called Cross Device Development, or something along those lines, and look for a thread with the name TA backup. If you do the long process, of going back and such, backup your keys. Should come in handy in the future.

u need to download flashtool and find a 4.1.2 rom for your device...
then you can either use framaroot 1.91(gandalf exploit) or use doomlords root setup...
after that you can install phill'z recovery...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343 this link was very help full for my device sgp311 and i think its almost the same for your device only the rom and the stripped .ftf will be different...
unlocking your boatloader is not really applied to you,you only need it if you want to install custom roms...but before you do search a bit around to find hou you can backup your drm keys aka .ta partition.
Make sure you downgrade to 4.2 and root using http://nut.xperia-files.com/?dlid=V...jb3ZlcnkyLjcuMTIzLUJFVEEuaW5zdGFsbGVyLnppcA== option 3 then backup your TA partition before unlocking your bootloader, or theoretically you'll lose warranty
ok ok ok
So what steps do I take to install CM11?
Which method posted would get me there? You guys are saying a lot of different things here, have me a little confused
Hi anyone knows and tries this Kingo to root and unlock bootloader

hi
i own a Z2 (d6503)
-bootloader unlocked (everything else is custom) i had rooted it previously but i think i lost the root access while updating the firmware to 4.4.4 using EMma
my problems
1. Google services are not working over wifi, but there is no problem with mobile data.
i have tried clear cache method already, factory reset, date/time thing. Sometimes few retries make playstore work.
2. Phone isn't turning on in recovery mode. neither manually (with buttons) nor with quickboot or PC
everywhere i found the same method: turn off, power on and wait for led to light up then press either of the volume buttons repeatedly. But the led doesnt light up
3. I have lost my DRM keys while unlocking the bootloader. (no TA backup). my bad.
what did i looose other than xreality engine? can it be recovered? how?
4. How can i root the new version of firmware android 4.4.4 (23.0.1.A0.167)
Please help
i am familiar with rooting and know a little more than an average user. But at the end of the day i am a noob too.
1. no idea, sounds weird that it works over data but not WiFi.
2. If your running stock rom then you don't have recovery installed hence you can't access it.
3. AFAIK The play station remote won't work, there is no way to recover DRM keys they are device specific so your out of luck.
4. Downgrade to .314 and flash a pre-rooted zip, there is currently no known exploit for 4.4.4 so no direct root method.
Although you have discouraged me completely, thanks anyway.
Can you explain the pre root zip thing? Shouldnt I just wait for the new rooting method to come up?

AFAIK devs aren't putting a huge amount of effort into finding a new root exploit, why bother when achieving root through downgrade and flashing pre-rooted is fairly trivial.
The pre-rooted zips are just that stock .167 roms that have been pre-rooted, they can be flashed over earlier fw without data loss.
So where can i get one?

oh damn! In my first post i made a mistake i meant to say (everything is stock) but wrote custom instead.
terribly sorry
Where can i get one of these roms u just mentioned?
Even if i get it, how do i flash it? I dont have a custom recovery installed and if there is a stock recovery i cant enter it.
can u elaborate the procedure i mentioned below?
[ how to flash this kernel ] (via fastboot)
download the kernel image
save the boot.img to the folder containing fastboot binary
flash the boot.img using fastboot:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
reboot from fastboot
Code:
fastboot reboot
the device should now start booting
enjoy!

thanks man. 3/4 of my problems are solved now. 1 is going to be solved soon hopefully.
Hello friends
I need to find important information about the Xperia Z2 D6502!
D6502 not support LTE! But other models are support.
1--Does LTE support software or hardware?
2--D6503 ROMS (23.0.1.A.3.9,France - Orange - etc. OR 23.0.1.A.0.167,Canada/USA,France,Germany etc. ) upload to D6502??? Is this happens?
3--And does LTE work?
OR
LTE support is not work. Let's say D6503 is working ROMs on D6502.
4--An advantage or good changes on d6502???If everything would be the same?
LAST
5--When installing this ROM on FlashTool,Is there a possibility of deleting IMEI?
6--And OTA update income ?
7--Can we, when we want to install the original version d6502 (To avoid problems with warranty service)
Very Thanks. English'm less. gtranslate
backup your original rom and after that try to flash d6503 roms to your d6502. I think the rom should work but 4g will not work. and this can't change the imei. I think that the only difference is the 4g. I have a d6503 so I can't try it but good luck

For rooting you need to downgrade to 4.4.2 and than root using toolkit, than you can backup your TA partition just in case you want to unlock your bootloader later and lose your DRM keys. D6503 ROM can be flash in D6502 but the network functions like calling and texting wont work, you need to flash D6502 modem for that, most of the ROMs will already have that as a separate flashable ZIP, search in the respective ROM thread. After flashing the ROM you might get update notification but you wont be able to install them as many of the system files will be modified so for getting official update you will need to flash back stock FTF with flashtool which will remove all your data, and if you had unlocked you bootloader you will have restore you DRM keys also after flashing stock ftf. for backing up data without root try helium app. works for me.

No, no prblm, just follow the method given in the forum thread, flash only the ftf for your model and not any other, bootloader wont be affected by flashtool until you intentionally unlock it.

Depends on what ROM you want to flash, there are different ones available in the forum, some AOSP or CM based which will require unlocked BL, or stock bases, like existenz or Moonwalker which are stock based and dont require unlocked BL. but i would suggest you hold on for now as there are some news about Lollipop being release in next few weeks and you will need to flash stock ROM again for updating to Lollipop. or you can later wait for someone to make a lollipop ROM later and get done with the rooting process now itself. also to download ftfs i would suggest use xperifirm and create the ftf using flashtool, you might not find your specific regions ftf through flashtool, but i'm not entirely sure about that, you can try either.
Also please press thanks button if i helped

first backup your data (you know how to do it?) and then backup your rom with this method:
3. how to backup your original firmware customization
a) if you do not want to lose warranty of your phone, first thing you have to do is to backup your original customization
b) download Sony PC Companion and connect your phone
c) select update your phone in Sony PC Companion
d) application will prompt you to disconnect your phone before starting downloading firmware, just make it (remember - dont disconnect your phone when update just start...)
e) after finish downloading firmware cancel the update
F) after that, go to C:\ProgramData\Sony Mobile\Update Engine\db\some number\blob_fs, there you find 3 (maybe 4) files, which names start FILE
g) download and install latest Flashtool
h) paste the three files, which names start FILE, from blob_fs folder to folder „Firmware“ included in the XPERIA Flashtool
i) open the Flashtool, click on Tools, then click on Bundles, choose decrypt files and put all three files from blob_fs folder to the right columm
j) click ok and after approx. one minute a pop up Window will appear via Flashtool
k) mark all files except simlock.ta and transfer them to the right column, than fill in a box in the right upper corner (fill in what you want, it is just for you)
l) now click ok and Flashtool will create backup of your original firmware customization, that you can anytime flash to your phone
(I copied this from a website)
I gave my XZU, which has an unlocked bootloader, is rooted, and is running 4.4.2 to my mother. I want to return the device to stock, as she has no need for root, and upgrade it to stock lollipop. The problem is, I rooted it a long time ago, I don't remember how I did it, and even then, I was stumbling through the process. There are many more guides about rooting than there are about unrooting, so I'm concerned that I may brick the phone or mess it up in some way. Here are the steps I found on XDA for returning to stock:
1. Make sure you have root
2. Backup any data/photos/etc on the phone
3. Restore your TA backup with the TA backup tool above
--------If you are on a custom kernel or ROM you ZU will not boot at this stage
4. Start flashtool and load a FTF
5. Start the flash and wait for the onscreen instructions to connect the ZU
6. Connect your ZU in flashmode
---------With the ZU powered off
---------Connect to PC while holding the volume down key
---------Flash will start
7. Wait for flash to complete
Is this the appropriate way to approach what I'm trying to do here? I am not running a custom kernel or ROM, I don't think. Certainly not a custom rom, though I'm not sure how kernels work anymore. But I'm pretty sure it's not custom. Just to be certain I am doing this properly, I want to write this out with the guide and see if it makes sense.
1. I do have root.
2. Done.
3. I have my TA partition saved as a .zip from when I originally rooted the phone. I'm not completely sure how I restore the partition. I am getting the Backup TA program from here: https://github.com/DevShaft/Backup-TA/releases. But I can't find actually how to restore it. After I do this, my bootloader is now relocked, and then I can just flash stock .ftf's? Is this correct?
4. I am downloading flashtool from here: http://www.flashtool.net/downloads.php and I am using this .ftf: [STOCK ROM] [FTF] Xperia Z Ultra (C6806) 14.3.A.0.681 "US Unbranded", which I am getting from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...tf-depository-sony-firmware-releases-t2829387. I haven't used the flashtool since the original rooting I did, but I think I can figure it out.
5. Etc.
6. Etc.
7. Etc.
At this point, I should be back on stock, right? And then I could just update through Sony's PC Companion at this point, yes? I'm basically just looking for a "Yes, you're going in the right direction" or "Yes, this is how you would return the device to stock."
Thanks!
That is the most up to date instructions that I know of, sorry I can't answer about the TA restore. Just one suggestion would be to flash a lollipop ftf, rather than kitkat and trying to get it to upgrade. An even easier solution would be to leave it unlocked and flash this http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...llipop-5-0-2-c6806-14-5-0-242-rooted-t3082449 in recovery.

Just unlock the bootloader and flash a custom kernel. To unlock just use google and it will take you to sony's unlocking webpage with all the instructions you need, then use a kernel found in this very forum.

Did you find it? If yes, how did you root? Please I need help I am very confused..
Here you can find unofficial twrp for xperia x:
http://www.infectedbuilds.net/downloads/suzu/twrp/
Install with fastboot command:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
After flashing this twrp you probably cant access data partion in twrp, to fix this boot into twrp(shut down device and turn it on again holding volume down), do a factory whipe and format data partition.
If you want to root flash latest SuperSU: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/stable-2016-09-01supersu-v2-78-release-t3452703
If you want a modded kernel with DM-verity, RIC off, DRM fix, SuperSU & Busybox download this tool and follow instructions: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xp...oot-automatic-repack-stock-kernel-dm-t3301605
Doesn't unlocking the bootloader degrade the quality of the camera? I am sure it does but just wanted to be sure. If I do decide to unlock, how can I get similar camera functionality back? I may even simply leave it alone, I just want to get rid of the Facebook app. If there was a generic FTF I could download for the F5121, that might not have that app in it. I remember when I had an Xperia Z, I used a generic FTF and didn't have so much bloatware. I also did not have to unlock the bootloader. All it has to be is for the same phone really and it worked for me.
What works for me might not work for you so try at your own risk.

Official updates need the original recovery installed on the phone. ( If TWRP is installed it will fail with an error )
You also need a valid DRM (or a DRM fix) that the Sony update tool will notify you about new firmware updates.
That's what I can tell you from my experiences.
Backup your DRM partition if you decide to unlock your phone!
And don't try to relock the phone as the camera won't work on a locked phone without DRM key. (at least it was like this in my case)
I've updated to 311 using lubik1's rom image without any issues today. It has everything included. (root,drm,etc..)
