LS990ZVC in the works - Sprint LG G3

OK, unless they're rolling back the version machine this is just a shell. But it does tell us something in the works.
device.sprintpcs.com/LG/LS990-SPRINT/LS990ZVC.rdf
Now, 2 possibilities: Some sort of urgent fix for both the G3 and G4 (since they both now have one in the oven) is one.
Second one is that the fluffy stuff - already reported on LG's own site as in the works - is coming.
Don yer tinfoil hats folks and speculate away!

Could you please elaborate on the fluffy stuff? BTW the ZVC.rdf has been out there for a long time, almost as long as the last update for the lg g3. See the following http://device.sprintpcs.com/LG/LS990-SPRINT/latest still no release though.
P.S. I'm hoping that it has something to do with boost mobile hopefully adding the g3 to the approved devices list.

I'll just stick to speculating it's the monthly security updates LG said it would start doing. Shame Sprint will drag their feet so it won't really be current. Oh and Monthly or so updates are gonna be darn annoying dealing with rerooting and all that jazz.

Does boost not have it's own RDF type files, specifically for phones that are on(or capable of being on) boost?
Edit: just looked, and boost has a g3 listed on their phones page. Is that the ls990 or another variant?

Saw this in the rdf file:
Code:

The ZVC RDF was posted around the 17th of October. Almost 3 weeks ago, so it's not am old RDF. They have not changed barely anything in the RDF since the initial release, and ZVB was listed the same way, and it was still 5.0.1. The only important thing the RDF shows is that someone at Sprint is working on an update. Who knows what version the actual update will be.

It's not the G3 but it is 6.0. Being that the current firmware for the G3 is ZVB let's assume that 4.4.2 listed on ZVC is just because they haven't fully updated the rdf page. I don't see why they would release 5.1 instead of just skipping it for 6.0.

Lots of self supporting going on there. I wouldn't be so confident. But, you, know more than I, clearly, about some stuff.

the readme in the source says download 5.0.1_r1 source and merge. thats the same as zva said, i believe. and the ZVB Build is using build LRX21Y which is somewhere between 5.0.0_r7 and 5.0.1_r1. hmmm

Indeed 4.1.2 and 1.27.531.7 is what we are stuck with....
Just called T-Mobile and the woman saw nothing about the updates in their system...
She said if you can download the update and apply it from HTC's website that would work, but rooting and using different software would break the warranty.

The rep would not know anything except an update currently in the pipeline, that is, already heading our way. Only someone at Tmo corporate headquarters would know the strategic deployment strategy, and they do not talk. TMO tends to release updates later than other companies.

who cares how much difference it makes... t-mobile is clearly lazier about updating than other companies and need a push to do so.

Well, for my Amaze 4G, they released the upgrade to ICS after about 5 months. And then very recently they did another upgrade, which would be almost a year later. But that first major update wasn't that late.

Actually, E970 should get Kit Kat earlier than the other variants
LG has already updated the User Agent Profile on its official website:
Old http://gsm.lge.com/html/gsm/E970-M6-D1.xml
New http://gsm.lge.com/html/gsm/E970-M10-D1-KK.xml
G Pro now has a similar profile and it has been updated recently:

You can try to put different numbers instead of "970" and check corresponding UAPs

Yeah, I don't expect this at all, with how bad LG is with updating their phones, plus AT&T pushing an update out on a phone this old. I really hope they do, but I have no hope they will.
Still no news about the update for e970. :/
But the official kitkat port is really smooth and stable. I'm grateful that we have such awesome developers working for our device.
im having trouble with messaging threads on Paulicat's but other than that and wifi shutting off every once and a while the rom is better than an lg/att release of it. Their release would have too much bloatware.

Followed up on your claim that any official dates have been confirmed, they haven't. Most recent information as stated by HTC is target 2nd week of April. That's not a confirmation of any specific date especially since the update is with Verizon right now to get final certification. If you have specific information from a source to say otherwise please post.
Agreeing with xlxcrossing. Everything i see shows the 2nd week of April. if you have diff info please share. otherwise here is where i got my info.

I'm sure resources could have been but at the same time Google said it was a low percentage of devices that even have that version. I'd like to say it was like 1-3% or something that low so it probably wasn't too high on the list to fix. I do think their is a patch they have out though
There's been some subtle info coming through the pipeline but week of 21st (now) is the adjusted time for target release. Hopefully some of you will get the OTA notification soon. This isn't a guarantee by any means, we all know the update process through Verizon historically has always been massively delayed at times when dealing with older devices. Its not like HTC or Verizon though to give constant updates pushing it week to week. They already did their 3 month postponement so I think its legit at this point.

Guys, a noob here. Just caught the news about KK coming over to Droid DNA. I have an unlocked version running Viper DNA 1.3.5 on Android version 4.1.1 with Sense 4.
Will I get notification of the KK update OTA since I'm in Canada and hence not running on Verizon's network and secondly, if I do the update, will I be able to run the ViperDNA as a dual boot option or is it even worthwhile to do that?
Thanks in advance folks!!!

Odd. The article was written well over a month ago and I'm just seeing/hearing about it now. So it's as if we're already benefiting from it, yet I haven't heard any dev mention anything about it or about including it in their rom. Maybe there is nothing for them to update, no?

ZV9 RDF

http://device.sprintpcs.com/LG/LS990-SPRINT/LS990ZV9.rdf
I looked a few days ago, and the latest was still ZV8 at http://device.sprintpcs.com/LG/LS990-SPRINT/latest I just looked, and there is a ZV9 listed! Funny thing is they never updated the android version on either ZV8 or this new ZV9 so it still shows 4.4.2. The only thing other than the build number that i noticed different is DSSClientVersionSZ_5.4.01. That was version 5.2.00 on all previous builds.
This is the first sign of life from sprint for our phone in quite a while. ZV8's RDF posted pretty close to when it was actually released, but there was zv7 which never came out, as well as zv5. So, who knows. maybe they will wait for another even number build version, or maybe we get an update soon!
Nice find!:good:

RDF's are generally test builds. Didn't the international g3 receive an update recently that was still 5.0.1? Generally we receive updates after the international version gets their update, and then Sprint tests them before sending them out. I highly doubt we would get a newer build than them.
Sent from my LGLS990 using XDA Free mobile app
Look at it this way.... It took LG like 7 months to announce 5.0.1 so if it is a new android version I think it might show up on the LG dev page (that way we can build it like we did with L). I'll tell you this much I will make sure to use the next update as a base in my ROM

Nexus's only received 5.0.1 in December, and we received it in February(about 2 and a half months later) Not very long of a wait if you compare it to Sprint/Samsung phones of the past. Sprint used to be notorious at having like 50 rdf's posted before releasing an update.

Idk I am new to this phone.... To be honest when it comes out I am going to get the Nexus 5 2015 edition by LG.
Did you catch what the build number was? If you did, you can go to the Nexus Images page and try to match them up.

Sprints RDF's only show the android version, and the LG software number, which the current one is ZVA. The android version has not been updated at all since the first build, so it still shows 4.4.2 even though zv8 was 5.0.1

There's another thing that everyone missed. The AndroidJVM shows Dalvik instead of ART.

They haven't changed anything in the RDF's except those 2 things I mentioned in the first post since zv1, I think.
FYI, RDF's are much more legible on Internet Explorer. As much as i hate IE, it does make them easy to read. :-/

I didn't know about IE actually being helpful for something. Only problem with running Dalvik on Lollipop, is that Dalvik was replaced with ART in the upgrade.

Maybe they are just auto generated..... They only change those two values rather then the whole thing.

I think they are. I'm not sure what the information even pertains to, I know the phone has the rdf for the current version in either the build.prop or somewhere that looks for the software number, but not really sure what generates it or uses it.

ZV8 showed Dalvik as well. Doesn't seem to mean much, other than this website for "latest" isn't very accurate.
Its also not showing a lot of things for the G3.
