Hi guys.
I have a samsung a5 2017 (a520f)
I know it is a ridiculous question but I wanna know shall I enable "allow oem unlocking" in developer mode to flash twrp and root with magisk?
If so, shall I unlock bootloader or no?
Please answer as soon as possible.
And sorry for my bad English.

Yes, you need to unlock your bootloader in order to flash a custom recovery.

Tnx Man
Is it possible to install a custom rom of any sort that has oem unlock option available with a locked bootloader?
?? sadly not that I know...
I'm on the Galaxy forever program so I get the brand new Galaxy but I miss flashing ROMs so bad!
Actually thinking about going ahead and going through the hole lease for my S9 plus I love this phone so much so I can get an unlock code from Sprint so I can start flashing some amazing ROMs that I'm sure are out there!
If anybody's got some tips or tricks for an old school r0m alcoholic have fun with his new fancy or toys please shoot me a message!!
Yawn...

If you have a locked bootloader, you cannot boot custom binaries, so no it's not possible.
What are you trying to achieve?

Trying to get oem unlock enabled asap. It's been 12 days for me and still no luck. Have exynos version. Im not 100% sure what project treble is but I thought it might have been something, and you said custom binaries. Is there a stock Samsung rom that has oem unlock already enabled that I can flash somehow?
I have a factory one from Best Buy works on all carriers just no OEM what should I do?

Flashing an official ROM will only reset your counter back to 7 days.
This is because your RMM state is 'Prenormal' You can check this value in download mode.
In your case, Sounds like the counter hasn't started. Probably because you didn't insert a SIM or login to your Samsung Cloud account. You'll have to do this for the counter to start.

Does it say your rmm state in download? Did you flash anything before you began waiting or before the countdown finished?

I don't know. I don't want to check and risk having to start over again but I bought duos exynos. And nope. Never flashed anything.

What. Yes it does? In order to get an unlocked bootloader you need oem unlock enabled.

Even if it was there you can do nothing with it, you bought a device with a locked bootloader.

I opened up the dev section on my sprint Samsung Galaxy s9 plus device 11 days ago and I still cannot find the OEM unlock toggle in the dev section. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks In advance!!!

This won't affect the counter, and things can't get worse for you anyway. Pls check and let us know.

you can reboot your phone, go into download mode and even turn your phone off, it does not effect the counter that starts when you first "go to jail".
You don't even need a SIM Card in the phone -I took the Sim out of my S8 plus and it still got the OEM unlock option back after 7 days.
In fact it is possible you need to reboot first - then check OEM to see if it has returned. I know I did. When My S8 went to jail - after 7 days the OEM was not back when it should have been. I rebooted the phone and it was there after that.
Good luck my friend.

Thank you. Can anyone else confirm this is true? Does this also work for s9? Just want to make sure so I don't have to restart again.

Yes you can. See the link above for the proper instructions. I'm typing this on my rooted T825. T820 and T825 can be rooted.

Where did you get your device? There are some, Verizon??, Which don't allow oem unlock and you won't find that tab in developer options.

There are posts here telling different ways of making oem unlock to appear again. I tried all but failed. So there is no way I can root it?

It's an T825C. And for whatever reason that model appears that it doesn't let you turn oem unlock on. If you can't do that you won't be able to use Odin and you won't be able to root. I'm guessing your government has something to do with that.

some posts mentioned to wait for 7 days to see if the oem unlock toggle will appear
but no success
could anyone suggest any workaround pls?

If you haven't already you should unlock with the CROM service apk.
You can then root the device as long as you do not sign in to a Google account as this will activate FRP Lock.

I spent some time on research. But is it possible to root without flashing twrp?
I am considering buying a oem unlock code for my honor 10 COL-AL10 but i have no oem unlock button in my developer options.
does anyone know how to get this button in my developer options?
I don't have it either, i looked for it on these firmwares:
163,171,182 and emui 9 which I got yesterday (which i couldn't even hard reset it with Volume up and power buttons, i did the same on emui 8.1 and it worked but not on this one)
Also when I enable usb debugging it turns off after i exit developer options
It didn't happen to you only, most of the users who updated to Android pie don't have OEM unlock option.
Enable OEM unlock? I have that in developer options. Emui 9.

That's strange, you're the first one reporting to have OEM unlock in EMUI 9.
Is that it?
I am uploading screenshot again, it wont show. Admin please delete my previous post.

You're lucky, as most of the members who updated to pie, didn't find the OEM Unlock option.
And I wont unlock it gonna buy a better phone

It's your choice
Personally, I don't have any reason to unlock my Honor device, especially after I'll get the EMUI 9 update.

Isnt COL-AL10 is a Chinese variant ?
AFAIK Chinese variant doesnt have that option but it can be unlocked by using bootloader unlocking code.
BTW I have that option in COL-L29 even on Pie.
I have oem unlock as well

If my assumption is correct he/she is not having that option because its a Chinese variant.

Hello, I wanted to install normal Android 11 instead of the Go edition because it is buggy, but the OEM Unlocking option is greyed out and I don't know how do I enable it in this state. How do I fix this?
