I just switched to S4 from a Stock android based Motorola phone. In the previous phone having KitKat, I always dismissed all dialogs by touching outside the dialogs in the empty shadowed areas. But since I switched to the S4, which has Lollipop, I see that I cannot dismiss dialogs anymore this way. I need to press the back button for this purpose.
Here's how you can also reproduce the issue:
Go to a conversation in Hangouts, long-press a message, this dialog can be dismissed by clicking an area outside the dialog. Now click options>delete and then this new popup/dialog cannot be dismissed in the similar way. This happens in almost all apps that I cannot simply dismiss the dialogs. Another place where I CAN dismiss it is the wifi details dialog.
Is this a feature or a bug? I have hard-reset my phone already and it started from the very first phone setup phase.

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this or if it has something to do with my settings.
This has happened a couple times lately but after ending a call the lockscreen appears and continuously switches back and forth from sleep to lockscreen. The notification bar is highlighted green and if I am lucky or quick enough I can swype my passcode and bring down the notification bar. From there I have to end the call again if it doesn't just go back to sleep or the lockscreen.
This is my first smartphone and touch screen so do you think I am not ending the call properly, i.e. not touching the end call long enough, or would it have something to do with my screen timeout settings. Or am I just missing something completely.
Thanks,
Wing
It does that after you end a call? The notification bar will go green when you are in a call and, say, go to an app...essentially what you are doing is putting the "phone" app as a background app, and the notification bar is green to let you know you are in a call...I've never seen it after ending a call. Are you sure the call is actually ending? You should just have to press "end call" and it will end it.
Okay. Yeah I guess I'm not ending it properly but it is odd how when the phone call is not ended and the lockscreen appears, it flashes back and forth so quickly that it makes it very difficult to unlock and end it. I don't think I am pressing the power button to lock so I am guessing it is the screen timeout settings. Thanks.
I love the "swipe up an icon to launch that application" feature of the lock screen on the One. But I've noticed that (seemingly randomly) it just stops working. For instance, I'll grab the chrome icon and swipe up, and the phone won't register that I've grabbed anything, and the screen just unlocks. Rather than an icon floating with my swipe gesture -- the lockscreen just fades out and then the phone displays whatever activity was open when the screen was turned off (almost like I've grabbed the lock icon, though I haven't). Has anyone else experienced this? And how can i get it to go back to the default behavior?
Did you install any kind of notifier that would display on top of the lock screen? I found out that after installing Notifierpro with accessibility services turned on it messed up the Sense lock screen.
I have posted my experience on a different thread and did not see your post. I just thought maybe you are experiencing the same problem.

Mine sorta does the same thing. Sometimes I will grab an icon (any icon for that matter) and it won register the swipe at all, It won't even bother unlocking and it wont register any swiping at all until I do one of two things
- I will have to hit the power button twice to sleep and wake the device then swipe to unlock
or
- Hit the Home or Back button then swipe to unlock
anyone experience this? hope this helps
I have an original Nexus 7 running Android 4.3. I just learned about the "Take bug report" and "Power menu bug report" method to capture screen shots and logs. Unfortunately, they don't seem to work for me.
I'm logged on with my normal Google account. When I use either method, I get the "Take bug report" popup. When I tap on Report, the popup goes away and then nothing happens - no email - nothing. I've seen a couple of other reports of this happening.
Anyone have any suggestions? Anyone else have this problem?
Thanks
Frank
Found the answer to my problem
I have discovered the solution (at least for my Nexus 7)! Here's what happens:
1) Tap Take Bug Report
2) Take bug report "take a while" popup displays - Tap report
3) After about 30 seconds, the words "bug report captured" appear for about 2 seconds on left side of the top manu bar ( the one with Time and WiFI and other icons.
4) An adroid icon then displays on the left side (where downloads and other status indicators display).
5) Swiping down on those icons displays an item "Bug report captured"
6) Taping on the item brings up a "Complete action using" popup that includes Gmail.
7) Taping the Gmail icon allow you to send the bug report text and its associated screen capture to yourself.
Hmmmm
I still do not see any icon in notifications area.
Maybe this feature broke when my Note 2 updated to 4.3.
My apologies in advance for a vague thread title, but I wasn't sure exactly how to word what the issue I'm posting about is. And I didn't see a forum specifically for the Droid Mini, hence why I'm posting this here, nor did I find any similar threads to what I'm asking about.
So here's the issue. As the thread title states, I have a Droid Mini running stock 4.4 KitKat, no root and the bootloader's locked. I've done no modifications. I've only had the phone for about 2-3 months tops. I'm not exactly sure when it started, but here lately, I've had a couple issues, one being in any app I'm in or even if I just leave my phone unlocked at the home screen, there are frequent times when the close animation happens and the screen goes black as if you pressed the recent apps button or opened a link or notification but nothing else opens, and then snaps right back to whatever app was open or the home screen. In example, I could be typing a text message to someone, then suddenly, the close animation happens and the screen goes black, then suddenly snaps back to the text I'm sending. And I know it's nothing I'm doing, because it's happened with me simply watching a YouTube video both in browser and the YouTube app with my hands off the phone and the close and snap back happened, which gets very annoying because it pauses the video I'm watching or messes up my typing in a text.
If I could get a video demonstration of it to help make my point, I would, but it just happens randomly for a split second.
The second issue is, there are times when I get a notification in the notification bar but when I swipe it down and press the notification, the notification bar goes away but whatever app the notification is from doesn't open (i.e. I receive a text and it notifies me in the notification bar, so I swipe the notification bar down and press the notification, but the notification bar goes away and the text doesn't open).
I really don't feel like doing a factory reset so any help would be much appreciated.

Click to collapse
Try clearing the cache of the app(s) or clear data. Note: clearing data will rest all settings to default and saved data in that app. Hopefully this helps! A simple reboot makes all the difference as well!
I was wondering if anyone had solutions to any of these issues:
Double clicking the "recents" button doesn't go the last app, it just acts like I hit the home button once, minimizing everything. Likely fixed by a software update (before 4/29).
The dual screen does NOT abide by my LG Game Settings for apps (resolution and frame rate). I have games set to lower resolution, but they always run at high resolution on the left screen. Even if I swipe an app with lowered resolution from the main screen to the dual screen.
When the phone is locked and I go to expand a notification but don't fully expand it, it slips back but my whole screen becomes unresponsive for a couple seconds.
Some apps have rounded corners from the screen and it's harder to see/click on things that are right in the corners.
Mostly importantly, I can't figure out how to get *any* sort of visual notification on my lock screen. When the screen is locked and off I get audio notifications for everything (messages, emails, etc.), but there is no visual indication whatsoever. The screen doesn't come on, light up for a couple seconds, show the notification appearing, nothing. AND I turned on the bubble notifications and sidelight options in App Notifications -> Notifications -> Brief Notifications. But neither of these works. SOLVED: Ugh, apparently immediately underneath those two options is a list of apps to apply this to. Which I guess is neat? I just want it for all apps. Either way, the default for this happens to be NO apps. So I enabled the apps, this one's solved.
NOTE: I am on the very first update version. I have updates disabled, as I usually do with phones, to keep it on the lowest revision for possible rooting purposes. So if any of these issues has been fixed by one of the (almost always useless) security updates, let me know. THANKS!
I had the same issue with the recent button, and I gave up after searching up and down for a setting or something. then it just fixed itself, which probably means an update. currently running most recent software updates.
Awesome, thanks, I'll mark that one as "solved" in a sense. I have access to a few other phones on the same Android version that don't have the issue, so I figured it was phone specific.
