Odin fails, device stuck on download mode. - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!
I'm trying to flash stock rom on a Galaxy S6 Edge, I downloaded the correct ROM version and tried to flash it through odin.
I checked everything, drivers, usb, odin version, etc.
When trying to flash, odin says fail (just like here):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3330051&d=1432508561
I tried to open the .tar file, delete the "hidden.img" but after creating a new .tar file (via 7Zip), odin can't load it.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

likely the stock rom you download has a lower version of bootloader than your phone currently have. Try to download the latest official rom for your version, and try again.

i would download the .tar file again, might have just been a bad download. that odin always works with my sprint edge. just wondering are you doing a hard reset and going back into download mode? (hard reset: volume down and power together)

First of all. What version do you have? What you trying to install?

It won't boot, and I'm not sure about the version as failing to flash stock at first got the device to it's correct state.

You're trying to flash an s6 rom. G925 is the edge.

WHAT HAVE I DONE? Odin doesn't seem to pick the phone up now. HELP!!!

Slight update...I downloaded the Kies software but it is not recognizing my phone. I keep troubloeshooting the connection but nothing. Seems like perhaps some sort of "gadget driver" is not installed properly but I cannot seem to fix it.
If anyone can assist I'd be appreciative.

Anyone have any insight into why Kies might not recognize the device? All drivers now seem like they're installed fine but I keep getting the communication screen in kies cycling without finding the phone so I can do a firmware recovery.

I believe so. I did think of that last night and believe I was using the right one but I'll double check. I'm going to uninstall everything then reinstall and see if that works...if not, it's bricked.

I don't recall the specific error but it said "Intall Unsuccessful" or something like that.
It was however successful enough to remove root from my device. So once that happened, I figured I should go back and flash the stock rom using Odin. Big mistake. Tried it and now my phone is bricked with the firmware error saying to use Kies to recover. Problem is (as stated above) Kies can't even see the device.

[Q] root fail URGENT! pls

sry if there is another post about this but im'm in a real hurry
i tried to root and forgot about usb debbuging and got "recovery booting recovery is not seandroid enforcing set warranty bit recovery"
i turned on usb debbuging and odin says transfer complete and all but nothing happens. the phone starts in a screan that says recovery booting recovery is not seandroid enforcing set warranty bit recovery and i have to pres power vol - and home and vol down to cancel so that i can start the phone.
phone model is sm-n900p running android 4.3
i tried to flash a new rom with odin and it didn't work.
please help i really nead to fix this in a day at most so any sugestions are apreciated
Go into stock recovery and do a wipe (volume up, home and power button at same time) , that might start you back up, if not, just go into dl mode and flash the mj4 tar you should be good

2 i tried to flash a rom for sm-n900 and it didn't work odin sayd fail. did it not work because mine is sm-n900p or because i did something and now i can't flash thing on it in wich case i won't be able to flash the updates eather?

1. If you stay on mj4 (4.3) then you want to follow this method to root http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2474222 there's videos and super simple, if you go KK then yea, you need to use chain fires auto root for the 9005, make sure you put the tar file and not the md5 file.
2. You don't flash roms in Odin, you need to flash roms using twrp (that's the recovery), might be why you ran into problems in the first place.

It can all be very confusing at first, once you learn the terms and types of files, gets pretty simple, but read read read.. And if something sounds real crazy, Google or search the forums.

You need to get to the download mode, pull your battery, put it back in, press volume down, the home button, and power at the same time, hold it until the phone vibrates and the screen turns on, it will tell you to press over of two options, you want the dl mode option. If you have a case, take it out of the case and try, might be preventing you from hitting all three at the same time.

i am instalink the mj4 now and it seems to be working.
for the updates i noticed that the instructions sayd to copy the files to the external sd. can't it be the internal sd, or does it really have to be the external one because i don't have an external sd right now.
and if it can't be the internal sd, then what file should i use to root whithout the updates, just the mj4?
just realised that was a stupid question. i found a long forgotten 1gb sd. does the CF-Auto-Root-hlte-hltexx-smn9005.tar.md5 file work on nabd or should i only upgrade to nab?

Help unrooting S4 on MK2

God morning.
I have a Galaxy S4. I installed safestrap and some custom roms (kept my stock rom). I know want to remove all this and go back to stock. I have done a complete unroot in SuperSU and uninstalled (or so I thought), SafeStrap. However, when I restart my phone, safestrap is still booting and I get a lock on the screen with the word Custom underneath. I want to get rid of all of this and just go back to stock. It's Verizon S4 on MK2.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

You can try just uninstalling SafeStrap like any other app you have. Or flash the mk2 stock firmware in Odin.
Going the Odin way would actually be the better and easier way to go most likely. Sometimes the custom screen still lingers even after removing SafeStrap.

The first post in that thread explains what you'll need to do. Its a lot easier than a lot of people think.
- Download the USB drivers to your computer ( I believe they're linked in first post)
- Download the stock firmware zip in 1st post ( either full wipe or no wipe )
-download Odin from 1st post
- extract the .tar file from the firmware zip file
- open up Odin
- make sure you see it shows Device Connect when you plug your phone in
- load that .tar file into the PDA slot in Odin or AP slot depending on the version of Odin .
- make sure Re-Partition is NOT checked.
- hit start and wait for it to finish.
Again that's all said in the op.

The LTE Sprint boot screen takes about 10 to 15 minutes.

Same issue
Hello,
I am having a same issue and had no luck flashing back to the unlocked version.
I previously had unlocked version purchased from Samsung.
To test pie, I flashed to T mobile version, and updated to pie. My current service provider is Verizon.
Could you please help me to go back to unlocked version??

Could you please help me how you fixed it? I downloaded arg8 from samfirm, and it still does the same. Please help. I am stuck with CRI6 right now.

You would need to set Odin not to auto reboot, you would need to flash ARG8 after it says "Pass" you would need to manually reboot the device into recovery mode and flash one of the Oreo leaks

use 4 odin files that you usually would do? BL, AP, CP, CSC (not home one),
then manually reboots by pressing vol down and power key
when it reboots, vol up, bixby, and power then install update from SD card.
Correct? Do i need to do the entire process again if the phone reboots? (showing Start)

Yes the procedure is correct, once done in a timely manner..
What error are you facing when trying to flash an Oreo OTA file via Recovery
I dont get an error message. I still get unknown issue even after doing that.

Patched Odin, what does your software version says in settings?
Baseband: G965usqu3cri6
service provider sw ver. Saomc_sm-g965u_oyn_vzw_pp_0013
this is what worked for me,
1. install G965USQS3ARG8_TMB using odin
2. install Pie update.zip file
3. you should get network now ( hope it works for you too)
4. Flash G965USQS3ARG8 again.. and you should be all set
when you update to Pie, use CR5 not the CR6
