I have to admit, I was surprised...
Nexus 6P really needs OIS...
Definitely.
There's no cheating or getting around it.
But then I didn't think this camera would be as good as my S6 for video or lower light conditions. I have to say, I prefer the pictures of my S6 to this in almost every mode and condition.
12.2 Megapixels, but only in 4:3? Are you kidding me?
No, this camera is definitely not a win for me.
But then again I knew that going in, and decided I'd rather have the 6P Google pureness than put up with TouchWiz anymore.
Why even bother with a comparison or a VS thread with the Note 5? Note 5 will probably win in every category which it does but the Nexus crowd will probably just make it into a TouchWiz sucks thread. Just look at the post above me, it really didn't take long.
Pretty hilarious if you ask me.

You have an odd sense of humour...
I am surprised that the 6P looks so good compared to the Note 5, the still pictures...
The videos, I think Google's EIS implementation is too strong. The videos look smooth, but the "jello" effect is very apparent.
How's the battery life comparison? I'm considering making the switch from the 6p to the Note 5 because of the band 12 fiasco. Just want to make sure I wouldn't be sacrificing battery life.
I'll be reviewing it with a comparison to the s6
I found the 6p can handle it's own in certain situations. However the focal length for macros surprised me. The s6 definitely wins there.

6p is far better on battery I just sold my note 5 to my brother it had a okay battery not like 6p
My first charge I got it this morning
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
Having had the 6P for only 5 or 6 days, I find the Note 5 to have a better battery. Also, my unscientific test -
OP, thanks for the comparison. I have a S6 Edge with the same camera as the Note 5 and in my eyes the 6P does a better job in low light. But video quality definitely goes to the Note 5
Thankfully, I rarely use my phone for video, as I have a dedicated video camera for that. Though if/when I do use it for video, it'll be good enough for me. Other than that, I don't see any issues for me with this phone.
I'm just ready to get that shipment notification from Google, so I'll know that a 6P is headed my way. I had planned on using my Galaxy S4 (w/ GPE ROM) until at least mid-year next year, but I was careless walking into the kitchen one day and it slipped out of my hand. It hit the corner of the stove right on the edge of the screen. Needless to say, the screen works no longer, but the phone still functions. Luckily I had USB debugging enabled and can use the phone while it's connected to my PC. So I used that as my sign to get a new phone (Nexus 6P), but still waiting for it. Meanwhile, I've been stuck using my work iPhone 6....and I hate it. Through having to use it more, I've learned how much more I dislike it.

Sorry if this post doesn't really add much but I have to say, I love this device! It is absolutely solid and almost as easy to hold as the n7 with build quality that puts it to shame!
I don't know how anyone can say this thing feels or is cheap feeling at all. The finish on this feels awesome and the device has zero flex in it. I even like the shape! iPad can go to hell. 10 hours of battery life for my usage, an amazing screen and it is faster than any high end android device I've had a chance to use. Samsung and Google hit this thing out of the park.
I really hope whenever my n4 comes in that it can hold up to the example set with the 10.
Only thing I'm worried about is how long I will have to wait for my screen and body protector to come in the mail. Some cases and the mag power connector need to get here fast too.
Anyone else here feel the same?

Mine has pretty bad light bleeding at the top right corner. Noticeable when the screen is dark. The back also creaks a little if I press it...
But I do love this tablet. Samsung makes beautiful devices. Loved the GTab 10.1 and now this. The screen is stunning. I compared viewing a high-res 24mp image (6000x4000) with an Asus TF Infinity and the difference is staggering o.o Don't believe people who say the screen isn't that much better than 1080p. It sure is, providing you have high-res sources.
can't wait to get mine this Wednesday

The negative reviews was basically Engadget and PCmag, the rest were positive but also mentioned the ipad 4 being superior. I have a few theories as to why this tablet is betting some hate despite the specifications and excellent Samsung manufacturing and design. I truly believe these theories to be quite accurate as well. The hate I believe stems from three camps. The Samsung haters(there are a lot including Engadget), the Infinity owners, and the ipad 3/4 owners.
The Samsung hater theory is self explanatory.
The Asus owners are basically trying to justify how crappy their tablet runs by emphasizing the few minor features that the infinity has over the Nexus 10.
The ipad 3/4 owners are the same as the infinity owners except their tablet runs great but they are still insecure and throw some hate at the Nexus 10 because they are jealous that their retina display got beat and how much thinner/lighther, less expensive, the Nexus 10 is. They also are hating on how cool it runs compared to the literally scorching ipad 3.
Basically player hating.
the screen is just beautiful and colors are not washed out like nexus 7.. didnt notice any light bleed, as long as I dont notice any bleed in my day to day use, I dont care if there is any.. I plan to use this to occasionally watch movies stored in my desktop.. for browsing or lugging around the house, nexus 7 will do..will wait for aokp build and root it..want to enjoy pure android a lil before I load custom rom..
Just got mine in...still setting it up but so far so good. The screen is absolutely amazing and the swipe keys work good as well. I can already say without a doubt that it does not suffer from the stuttering seen on the tf700. Love it love it love it

haven't put it down since pulling it out of the box on Friday. Screen is amazing and it runs flawlessly. The only reason I'm even going to root is install AdFree and have full access to Root Explorer, other than that I see no need to mess w/ custom Roms, it has all I want and need!

This is the experience I was expecting when I bought my Prime last year. This runs circles around the Prime and I agree with Tomatoes8 on his N10 hate theories. Can't imagine the tablet experience being much better than this. Also, the boot time blew my mind compared to the Prime. I would imagine with updates etc that the N10 will only get better.

Yeah the one thing that has surprised me with the Note 2 is just how the screen really isn't the guzzler on the device. The Exynos Quad doesn't have the best standby consumption, but for beating the crap out of it with the screen on, the thing just goes on forever.

Note II's battery life is insane. 16 hrs on battery with about 8 of those hrs serving WIFI hotspot, 2 hrs 41 mins screen on time and 20% left.
This phone battery is the best, hands down. Every Android device I had before this required either an extended battery or an extra one.
This phone gets me through the day(s) and then some. I'm a power user, I'm on my phone constantly checking email, playing music watching videos or just trolling the forum and this battery kicks ass!

Well get the T-Mobile Note 5, root it, and install ThrashROM, then install the Material Dark theme, install Nova launcher, and good Lollipop icon pack, and your all set.
I just sold my Nexus 6, for a T-Mobile Note 5 and I am LOVING it way more than expected, with the above tweaks. I'm getting 6h Screen On time.

This is a shame. I saw the 159 footprint and that is just too big of bezels. I am holding out hope that those specs are wrong as i was reading an article talking about how Huawei is going for small borders on its phone...either way i'm happy with the MPXE, so no worries if the case.

This is shaping up to be a pretty sweet Nexus. Maybe the best Android phone of the year, right next to the Note 5.
3,450mAh battery on the 6P, and with Android 6.0 "Doze" feature that's supposed extend standby time, and then with some tweaked kernel and good ROM, this beast could get 7h Screen On time.
My rooted and ROM'd tweaked T-Mobile Note 5 is giving me 6h Screen On time, and it only has a 3,000mAh battery.
Now, is the 6P worth getting rid of my ROM'd Note 5 ?

haha that's exactly what my wife kept saying about the G4, the selfie camera on the G4 imo is better than the Moto X Pure and the OPT.
I thought the pictures above were fine.
As long as it's better than the G4 like some reviewers have mentioned I'll be happy
I'm looking at the pictures on my iMac at work and I have the brightness pumped up just to see how good they are... I must say, I'm pretty impressed! I'm not sure what kind of quality you guys are looking for but I suggest you go buy a camera at this point. It's a SMARTPHONE first then somewhere down the line it's a Camera as well. Let's not confuse what we're investing our hard earned money into.
many of the photos that are going to be posted by Googlers will have filters applied im assuming (all stuff that can be done right in the photos app or snapseed). but for point and shoot, i think they are pretty impressive for the stock nexus camera app which usually isn't up to par.

Brighter, sure, but sharper? The font on the 6p is smaller and different so its hard to compare.
That pic is so blurry and basically no info.. Nothing can be gleaned from that.
the screen on the note 5 looks larger.. maybe because of the smaller bezels and off screen buttons? (i can't see any quality/brightness differences from this pic haha)
the only thing i got from this thread is "mines"

He does good reviews but I don't see him as someone who is going to go out of his way to compare the displays with adaptive off. The pictures in this thread tell a lot regarding brightness. I'll have the 6P tomorrow and I'll be able to test this on my own.
Well this was a worthless comparison. They both are equally as bright and sharp indoors. It's outside where the differences are apparent. The Note 5 gets significantly brighter outside than the Nexus 6P does. And thats what will matter to most people. Rememeber the Nexus 6? Couldn't see that screen outside at all. 6P is better, but not in Note territory.
Gotta love it how desperate nexus users are to convince themselves that the nexus has same awesome display as the note 5 lmao
Even if Nexus 6P has the exact same screen as the Note 5, it will never reach the same brightness as it does on the Note 5.
If you have used an S6 or a Note 5 in sunlight with auto brightness enabled, you will have noticed a definitive "step" in max brightness. The first step is the theoretical max brightness of the display and the following step is the overboost capability which sacrifices contrast to briefly boost the brightness beyond the regular brightness.
This capability is absent in the Nexus 6P, the maximum brightness that you set with the brightness slider is the maximum brightness you will get.

Don't pay him any mind. There's been about 3-4 people that have played around in the 6P forum for the past month with practically nothing positive to say about the phone and he's one of them. If you have nothing positive to say about the phone, you probably don't want it, and if you don't want it, why are you here other than to spew nonsense? He probably has the Note 5 if you check his past posts.

If you have nothing positive to say about the phone, you probably don't want it, and if you don't want it, why are you here other than to spew nonsense? He probably has the Note 5 if you check his past posts.

I got the 6p yesterday and it is a great phone. It is users like you that wish it had exact screen like note 5 because you know it has the best. Let me help you though, nexus 6p screen feels different from note 5. More close to note 4 screen which wasn't bad actually. But hey samsung phones suck right, I doubt you have ever used one of them, so I am not even sure why you feel the need to compare them to the 6p ?

You've got some real issues hey? The 6P is using "The latest generation AMOLED panel from Samsung". So are you implying the Note 5 does NOT use the latest generation AMOLED panel? Maybe the 6P has the same panel as the Note 6 will have then?
I realize its useless trying to reason with you as reasoning isnt your strong point... but its the same panel, they simply limited the max brightness for battery reasons likely.
Anywho in the future I'll be sure to remind anyone who dares compare the screen of a phone to one made by Samsung that they are idiots for doing so and shouldnt even bother
The outdoor viewing is what worries me the most, honestly. I had a Note 4 before this ip6+ and I remember a huge difference between that phone and this one as far as being able to read it outside.
Yup, me too.
I have an S6 now, and I can honestly say it's awesome in direct sunlight.
But then again I'd still rather have a Nexus anyday. For that one small thing, I will sacrifice and max out the brightness slider and cover the phone so I can see it if necessary.
Where is my Nexus anyway? It's in post limbo at the moment between my house and the local post office. Doh!!!
Sigh... Brighter is not better except in direct sunlight. The rest of the time it f's up all of the colors on the internet as the internet is designed to be viewed in sRGB color space. I swear a part of my spirit dies each time I hear people talking about how fabulous Samsung's oversaturated unrealistic screens look. Those colors are nothing but comic book land.
...I am crossing my fingers that the sRGB mode on this phone is half decent or it is getting returned ASAP.
