I dont know how an adware(named as alarm controller) installed but it gets accessibilty on its own and produces an ad of hola launcher, when i click the ad,a new application without any notification gets installed in background
I tried to disable it but the disable option is not available in settings->application manager->all applications
By the way my phone is not a rooted one
I tried factory reset with usb storage and sd card format, but no success
My device:samsung galaxy s2 gt i9100
Android version:4.1.2 jellybean
Adware like this is damned hard to get rid of......even more so on a non rooted device. The limited wipe functions in the stock recovery are pretty useless....and forget about factory reset in the device menu......
You have 2 options......
1) root your device, install CWM and use this recovery to get rid of the offending malware.
2) if you don't want to root, re flash your firmware along with the correct pit file for your device and start afresh.
Whichever route you choose, stay away from those dodgy websites afterwards.....

Thanks for the reply
Coming to the solution:
I have rooted my phone and used a app named 'system app safe remover' to remove the adware
The above solution did not solve my problem completely
Adware was getting installed in background without notice
I have to uninstall it everytime
I think Flashing a stock firmware or a custom rom is the only solution
Probably a good choice....but without the pit file, flashing a firmware will probably be ineffective.....A normal odin flash only overwrites what is already on the device....meaning that the adware *could* still be there after the flash.
The pit file will totally format the device, and in doing so, will erase any/every trace of OS/data/apps/adware in the process.....

Probably get rid of all those unknown apps under android "safe mode" can help? Once entering "safe mode", go to Settings -> Apps then tap on "All applications" tab. Uninstall all unknown or suspicious apps from there, except that belongs to system.
To enter safe mode, press and hold power button until power menu appear. Try to tap and hold the "power off" menu. If nothing happens, try the same with "restart" or "reboot" menu. On success, a dialog appear asking you to reboot into safe mode. Press "Yes" or "Ok". After reboot, go get rid some apps as I mentioned above.
Hope this help, before doing more serious, like reflash the stock ROM.

This is stock not rooted phone. A couple of days ago I turned it off and turned it back on but it keeps getting to the galaxy SII black logo screen and reboots. Its an endless cycle. It never gets past that. I have spent the last two days looking for solutions online. One suggested solution that made sense was a stuck power button, but that wasn't it for me. I took the phone apart cleaned the button, its not stuck. Problem is still there. My main concern is the data on the phone storage. I did not back it up. I can't access it via usb since it doesnt fully boot up. What could be the issue? Thanks for the help.
...stock, not rooted. This means that we definitely don't have adb access.
when you say "data on the phone storage" do you mean photos and media? Those items are stored on a separate partition and are more easily salvageable.
App data will be a tougher project.

You will lose anything in the data partition, which includes text messages and your phone book. You will not lose pictures or media or recording that are saved to the internal sdcard (USB memory). I know your photos are safe, but I'm not sure about any other media or call recordings. It all depends on whether they are stored on the internal sdcard or in the data partition.
I don't know of any way to save anything in the data partition at this point, unless the phone miraculously boots into the current system.
You should may be able to recover the phone by reinstalling the stock firmware. Maybe not if there was some type of hardware issue. The best way to find out is to try to reinstall and see what happens.

Thanks. How can i install stock firmware? Kies is not detecting the phone connection since it doesn't boot all the way. I can get in to ODIN mode and the install from sd card menu. Where can I download the stock firmware and how can I install it?

Install the stock firmware using Odin3 v1.85 (preferred). Install the latest stock firmware, I777UCMD8, which you can get from the download repository. It's the next to bottom item. If you need to download Odin, there is a link near the top of the page.
How to use stand-alone Odin3 to flash firmware:
Follow and recheck each of the following steps. Do them in order listed, as some steps are dependent on previous steps. Instructions are for Odin3 v1.85. It should work with any version of Odin, but some details, like color of items, may be different.
1.) Open Odin on the Windows Desktop.
2.) Have the USB cable plugged into USB port on the computer, but *Not* plugged in to the phone.
3.) Shut the phone off.
4.) While holding down the vol+ & vol- keys, plug micro-usb plug into phone.
5.) In Odin, you should get the yellow box under where it says ID:COM with the text 0:[COMx], and in the Message area, <ID:0/00x> Added!! where x is some number, usually 1-8.
6.) In Odin, make sure Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time are checked and all other items are not checked.
7.) Click on the PDA button. Browse to the tar file you want to install and select it so its path appears in the text edit box next to the button.
8.) Make sure the check box next to the PDA button is checked.
9.) Click the Start button.
10.) You should see the green progress bar advancing.
11.) When complete, you will get a PASS code (or an error code if unsuccessful).

After flashing the stock firmware, assuming all goes well and you get a pass, your phone still may not boot. In that case, turn the phone off, boot into stock recovery by holding all three buttons of pwr vol+ and vol-. Once in stock recovery, perform a wipe data/factory reset.

Wait I am confused...the phone has booted up and everything is okay. it even remembered my window unlock passcode. The only thing different is that the operating system was upgraded. Are you saying it might not boot up if I turn it off and turn it on again?
No. I was suggesting that the phone might not boot initially after flashing the stock rom. In that case it would be necessary to wipe in order to get it to boot the first time. On re-reading your post #7 I see that the phone was already booted at the time I wrote that, and that what I said was irrelevant.
Hi guys,
i updated my galaxy alpha to lollipop but i found a little big problem: recent button doen's work anymore. It doens't even light when pressed. I read some threads here on xda about people experiencing this issue and i decided to open a new thread to try to fix this kind of problem.
As first "fix" i found helpful enable the super sensitive touch.
And you guys?
if u a using the G850f model, try to backup your data. Then do a complete data and cache wipe (hard reset) then install a clean lolipop update and see if it will work.

Yup you are right - however my phone is cool but still no left key. if i put it in the fridge then it works for a few mins.
on 4.4 never had this issue.
xef personal conclusion
hy, im from romania and flashed in odin the xef lollipop last night
till now no problem, works like a charm, slightly more performant than kk and more battery saver, recent app button works, im happy, so far no issues! ...finger cross....
fore the ones with issues try to update like me, with odin in these steps:
!!! charge phone battery to 100% with wall plug and make sure your phone is a free carrier type - the SM-G850F. download the france lollipop xef from samsung firmware site and download odin 3.10 from same place. unpack odin to a folder and then unpack the firmware downloaded to same odin folder.
1. backup to pc, cloud, etc. all you need - optional, but dont cry after for loosing your naked girl pics
2. shut down phone and make a factory reset - enter with volum up+home+power
DO NOT RESET THE CACHE - ONLY RESET DATA/FACTORY RESET
3. start odin and after this restart from earlier bootloader, let the phone start normally like after every normal reset but when ask for setup (first window screen where asks for language, accessibility, etc) dont begin anything and shut down the phone - press power and choose shutdown
4. start phone in download mode with vol. down+home+power and when in, select continue, a window with odin mode will appear
5. now connect phone to pc and in odin should appear as recognised, the square become blue and shows the com port number
6. in odin select the AP button and choose the firmware unpacked, unzipped, with the .md5 at the end of the name
7. make sure the RE-PARTITION checkhole is unchecked and the freset time and autorestart are checked, and hit start to begin flash
8. be patient and wait to finnish, it has several steps like copying (a blue line in download mode), restarting and upgrading/deleting things, restarting again and showing the galaxy alpha logo - DO NOT TOUCH IT, LET THE PHONE TO FINNISH, and after few minutes the amazing setup window appear !
9. disconnect the phone from computer, close odin, and shut down the phone!
10. start the phone in bootloader with vol. up+home+power and make a factory reset/wipe data but do not delete/reset the cache after, just data/factory reset
11. restart phone and enjoy your lollipop
if all this is made like i said then you should encounter no issues!
give feedback for help or if issues appear!

Mine also not working when phone is high temperature. Try cooling it down
I have updated to lollipop without any reset.
Have not found any bugs jet.
I was wondering maybe it has something to do with the region your phone comes from, according to the recent button not working?
I had the same problem, and I did this:
Went to Chrome - Settings - Combine Tabs and Apps. I deactivated the option, and by mistake, hit the back button, and started working.
Eventhough the option is Deactivated, when I press the left button, I can see Chorme's tabs wtithin the Recents Apps.
After that had to install and app from Google Play, and after doing so, the button stoped working again. I restarted de phone, and 20 minutes later, the button started working. I have no clue of what's going on.

Still doesn't work.
I always do factory reset, dalvic & cash & than flash new rom, ater instalig it I wipe dalvic again .
All working ,except in new Eudemony V4(5.0.2) deodex break recovery & stack on EULA Data conection.
possible solution - NONE, till region versions come out
i start to believe more and more that this issue has to do with region scrambling software glitches - scientifically said
probably some regions are compatible and some aren't
I tried to change the settings in display settings by increasing the sensitivity and it works. Eureka!:victory:
Try it for yourself.. go to settings under display.
Same issue will it work with other 5.x roms?
I have the same issue. I have not rooted this phone yet. I sent it back to Virgin and they downgraded it back to 4.4.4 then sent it back "fixed". Since I got no feedback I thought it must have been an issue during the update. So I updated again and Recent apps is still not working. I am using an app that brings up the menu for now. I am hoping that 5.1 will fix this issue anyone know the odds on that? Also I am willing to root and loose warranty IF it will work under a custom Rom (or will it not because the ROM would be based on 5.0.1?) Is downgrading pretty risky? I have only rooted with my nexus 4 and moto G and only ran Cyangenmod. so I am not sure of the risks of downgrading. (I remember it being risky in my iphone days). Any thoughts or suggestions?
Hi I have a LG F100S (LG OPTIMUS VU)
The phone is restarting itself sometimes and after uninstalling programs and files the programs and files are coming back. I also tried uninstalling from google play but programs keep coming back. Also my phone is giving warning as Unfortunately xxx. program.stopped.
I tried safe boot by pressing long to turn off and the device asked me to confirm safe boot but the restart was not in safe boot.
I moved the battery and placed it back (the battery is not removable its attached with a screw)
I try factroy reset from the app menu but it didnt worked as well.
I tried to delete files from settings / storage but files came back.
I tried to hard reset by key combination but i recieved the dead android robot with a caution mark in a triangle in his chest.
I tried to go in to recovery menu by pressing home touch button and I have the Android system Recovery 3e screen as:
Volume up/down to move highlight:
enter button to select
reboot sytem now
apply update from ADB
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
I can highlight these options with volume keys where as I cant select it. I tried all of the buttons on my phone but can not be able to select any of these options.
My phone is not rooted. I also used LG Mobile Support tool to update my firmware from V40C to V40E the process done without anyproblems but when the phone restarted the firmware was same V40C.
My problem is my phone seem to be in a kind of boot loop. Maybe the clean master is causing the problem or some other software
I can use my phone for hours only I am receiving unfortunatelly.xxx.program.stopped. and I cant unistall programs or dlete files or install new programs.
hope I can take some help.
Note I searched the google and XDA for a solution but there was no helpful answer.
Apologies if some of the other threads answer this, but, I was concerned that they were device specific and I would appreciate reassurance that a solution is correct for my phone before doing anything else.
Oh boy, I think I am in deep doo-doos!
The plan was to install a custom ROM on my Samsung Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505).
So, I rooted the phone and installed TWRP.
I downloaded the latest nightly ROM from CyanogenMod, as well as the Gapps and copied them to the micro-SD card
I got into TWRP Recovery and did a full backup of all data to the micro-SD card.
Having done this I thought I had done enough to protect me from catastrophe (wrong!)
Still in TWRP I did a Factory Reset/Clear Data
I did an Install of the CM 12.1 ROM
I did an install of the Gapps
All seemed fine, with no errors showing up
Then I did a reboot and this is where it all went pear-shaped!
The Setup wizard started and the first indication of a problem was numerous messages like "Unfortunately Gmail service has stopped"
This happened for all sorts of apps - Gmail, Google+, Youtube, GooglePlay, etc.
Anyway, I plugged away with Setup and it connected to wi-fi and then I got the EULA screen. When I ticked boxes and clicked "next" the screen went blank and after a few seconds it said "Unforyunately, the setup wizard has stopped"
Argh!!!!
I thought that all was not lost as I could get back into TWRP and try again or, failing that, restore the backup.
However, I cannot get into Recovery mode/TWRP - If I hold down the Vol+, Home and power buttons then I see a few lines of very small colourful text in top-left, but, when I release buttons, the phone starts up Android rather than Recovery
I have tried starting by holding Vol+ and power and the same thing happens
I have tried starting by holding Vol- and power - this comes up with a warning about using a custom OS and gives an option to cancel or continue.
If I choose continue then I set a message "Downloading.... Do not turn off target!!" and then it sits there for ages (at least an hour)
Can anyone suggest what I can do to rescue my phone?
The ideal outcome would be to be able to restore the backup I made
If this is not possible then I would like to get it back to a useable state.
Any help would be most gratefully received!
First, enter the download mode by pressing vol-, homekey, and power key at the same time. Then tap the vol.+ button.
Then download the stock rom for your phone along with correct model number.
The downloaded romshould be in .zip format. So extract it on your pc. You must see a file of .tar.md5 or .md5 format. Now while in the download mode, connect your phone to pc Use odin to flash that file.the restart you phone.hope this helps..i dont take any responsibility if you further damage your phone....

One of the spot you went wrong was not formating system and data instead of a factory reset.
Also make sure to have the proper gapps package for the rom you are using.
The instructions above will get you squared again.
Also next time try posting in the forum for the device. You have a far better chance of getting answers from people that have a better chance of working.
Try SAMmobile.com (you will have to make a free account) when you have made your account click the firmware button at the top of the screen then type in your phone model number. For example SM-G361F the choose your country. Then in the filter box seach your network provider ie. O2 then click download. Once you have downloaded it extract the file to a folder. Boot your phone into odin/download mode.then open odin 3.09 or any other similar tool. (You can download odin anywhere) extract the odin file then open it. Once opened Click BL or AP it dosent really matter then choose your file and wait for the blue bar on your phone to finish. Then it should restart
And should be stock rom. If your brick your device please note you have full responsibilty over your device. If you do mess up and brick your device just repeat the steps above.
I Have a Samsung M52 5G running Android 11. It is locked by the MDM or Knox from Samsung. As i boot the phone it automatically opens the Knox Enrollment Service and also Launches an app "Samsung Finance Plus". The knox verification fails and it locks the phone straight away. No other app, i literally mean no other app can be opened. Whenever you would try to open any app, it gives a message "Security policy has blocked the app". Here are some other major issues.
1) I can get into settings through the notification panel. I can get the developer options but the "USB Debugging" option is permanently greyed out. No matter what i do, change date time etc, it simply never comes to life.
2)OEM Unlock option is not visible in the developer options. *Though i can get into the Download mode or Boot mode by pressing the volume up and down buttons at start.
3)In download mode it says "FRP Lock = Off, OEM Lock = ON(L).
4)Factory reset is possible from Stock Recovery, but after resetting and finishing the setup it would again get locked and wont even allow you to open the playstore. Same Knox Enrollment Service comes up and blocks everything.
5)Only back button is availabe. Home button and recent apps button do not appear. I tried to turn on the onscreen navigation bar and when i use it i get a message "Security policy restricts the use of this key".
6)In settings, knox enrollment service and samsung finance plus apps cannot be Force Stop or Uninstalled. They are also device admins and the option to deactivate thier admin status is greyed out.
7)I tried to Flash TWRP in download mode but i get an error message saying "Custom Binary Blocked due to remaining installment balance"
8)However i can get into the phone and install apps with a trick. I can reset the phone and use it without finishing the setup process by getting in through the keyboard settings. Through this route i can launch Nova or Apex Launcher and install apps and use them. But if i go back and complete the setup process, then again it gets locked
9)Package Disabler Pro is not working.
10) When i connect the phone to my PC, i t says security policy restricts PC connections.
Any Help will be highly appriciated.

In the state that you are in, you will not be able to get any kind of custom recovery or custom ROMs to flash, anything that is not stock unless the bootloader is unlocked(OEM unlock has to be enabled).
The only thing you will be able to flash is the stock firmware for your device. In fact, I suggest that you flash your stock firmware to return the device to an unmodified state then start over with whatever you're trying to do.
If you're trying to root the device or flash TWRP, even after flashing the stock firmware to repair the software, you still may not be able to root or flash anything custom because you seem to have triggered Knox. The fact that Knox has been triggered will probably persist after flashing the firmware and you still won't be able to root or flash anything custom.
