Black screen after Dorimanx logo on RR 5.1.1 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey there guys so I just installed the Lollipop version of Dorimanx kernel on my phone in the hopes of some better battery life with the ROM and it just gives me a black screen when booting. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Please help me and just ask if you need any more information. Thanks.

More information please. Which rom? Which kernel version?

Did you double check that you installed the LP version of DorimanX kernel, not the KK version?

I'm using Resurrection Remix 5.1.1
I tried flashing Dorimanx v11.0b012. I tried both the TRIM and non-TRIM ones.

Since you've flashed both already, I can't think of anything else but to go back to default kernel. If you really need dorimanx kernel, have you tried downloading older versions? Did you download the zips properly? This will need to be investigated further.

I'm sure I downloaded them correctly, I'm really not sure what's going on. Hopefully this gets fixed soon!

Sometimes flashing it again will fix problems like this, or trying older versions first then updating to latest.

[Q] How to Update CF-ROOT?

I'm running the latest version of the Resurrection remix, I rooted it before using CF-ROOT which was CF-Root-SGS2_XW_XEN_LP7-v5.4-CWM5. I used the official rom before, then used that CF-ROOT then installed Resurrection remix.
Now when I go into CWM manager it says This version of CWM manager should be used with cf-root v5.0 or newer. but I'm sure I rooted with version 5.4. What should I do to fix it? Everything works fine its just this is nagging me
Would I be able to re-root it as normally and keep my ROM?
A new Rom implements a new Kernel
i dont know which one Resureection uses all i know its a AOKP Rom.
You can try CF Root but i dont know if it Supports AOKP Roms.
Well check your Phone info in Settings it should say which Kernel is used atm.

My kernel is 3.036-FLUXI-XX.02, what should I do in regards to the error? Basically my CF-ROOT needs the latest version, anything that could be done? Thank you.
So you are not on CF Root anymore beacause Resurrection Rom flashed with Fluxi Kernel..
Well Fluxi should support CWM - but i dont know if its the same as in CF

If you flash a different kernel (in your case Fluxi Kernel), CWM Manager may remain installed. However, functions may not work, because they need kernel compatibility! Just flash Siyah Kernel 3.3.2 & CWM Manager will recognize it again...cheers

[Q] Kernel not flashing help

I have flashed paranoidandroid 3.15 on my galaxy s3 a couple weeks ago, aside the occasional screen that win't turn on I haven't had any problem, but I set my mind on flashing a new kernel in order to be able to change thez governor. I tried to flash air kernel on, I did exactly what I was told: Boot into recovery, clear cache/delvik, installed kernel from sd card, and rebooted. But after the phone being rebooted, I still had the stock kernel.
My question is, why did this happen, and how do I fix it?
All help is appreciated

wow, you're lucky the updater-script saved your phone. Flashing wrong firmware will kill it
Glenbun. Only mismatched, corrupted, or missing boot loaders can kill a phone.
yeah-yeah, but we should scare the noobs away from flashing the wrong firmware that potentially includes a bootloader

Well, I don't really know either of them, I don't mind stock, but I want to change things, sometimes it just isn't up for the task, or uses up battery when I would rather it didn't, without even knowing what they do, and looking around, I found the perseus kernel, I would like some opinions on the kernel, I would be very grateful if you told me if it fits me, if it's compatible with ParanoidAndroid, and finally if you have a better suggestion for a kernel.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1691401
read the first post of the thread to find out if it's compatible with your ROM.
and try it to see if it suits you
If I'm running TWRP can I still download kernels that say they are meant for CWM?
yes

Trying to re-download file now, see if it helps any.
I used Dori on the JB RR rom, and it worked fine - but you might be right that there is no KitKat support yet. Cant seem to find any definitive info on this? :/
Reason I want to change kernel is because battery life is not as good on the stock one that comes with RR KitKat.

Does not seem that I can get it working no matter what I try Maybe the CWM doesnt support flashing it or the RR KitKat rom just does not support other Kernels yet.
Anyone know if I am wasting my time trying to find custom kernel for RR KK4.4.2?

Hello guys,
I am facing the same problem i.e error Status 7 while trying to flash dorimanx on RR 4.4.2. CWM is KK compatible and tried several dorimanx v10.43 version but all give the same error.
I can see several people are using this combo of Rom and Kernel but wondering if there is a special way around it.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
follow this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2546597 and try flashing the rom

Flashing the stock rom's kernel should take care of that..but i believe the two red lines will still be in there when going into recovery mode, but should not be in there when just booting into your phone (OS), and CM is pretty stable i believe.

That cannot be fixed. Any kernel other then stock kernel will give you those warnings. And cm works only with its kernel, so you outta luck with removing those lines if you wanna use a custom rom.
Same with recovery. CM is very stable.
Sorry about the wrong info as i thought you were still on 4.2.2 and not 4.4.2, didn't pick up on that part for some reason..

I'm on stock ROM but custom kernel. It worked with the custom kernel but I can't remember when it stopped working. I had flashed a newer version of the kernel last week so I rolled back but it didn't help.

The kernel version should match the firmware version. There is a fix in my thread, maybe it can solve your problem. You should make a backup though, no idea on which Rom, kernel you are. Might result in making the problem even worse - Short version: Maybe it will help or do something which I have no idea of. Disclaimer in my thread applies
