Can't update Honor 7 PLK-L01 B100 to B121 - Honor 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can't update. Downloading update to 100%. Smartphone restarting. Installing update to 3% and error: Software install failed! Get help from [emui link]

If you are having problems applying the OTA update from B100 to B121 then I would recommend that you install the full B121 ROM instead, followed by the B130 update and finally the B140 update. The files will be on this forum somewhere, or alternatively you can grab them from links I've posted onto modaco here http://www.modaco.com/forums/topic/375942-roms-honor-7-stock-rom-images-updates-121115-b140/
Did you root your phone or make any other modifications as these will almost certainly cause issues even if you manually flash the original recovery image.

Hey... I got the same issue. After the update got an install failure. The link above don't work. Greetings André

Bootloop After updating to b180 - only fastboot

I really need help on this issue.
It got into a bootloop and the only thing available is fastboot. No recovery or erecovery. This happened when I was at B170 with unlock bootloader and un-rooted on my L01.
Since this, I´ve flashed
fastboot flash boot BOOT.img
fastboot flash system SYSTEM.img
fastboot flash recovery RECOVERY.img
fastboot flash cache CACHE.img
fastboot flash cust CUST.img
using Update.app from B100, B121 and B130. No erros with any of these.
I´ve read all the threads about similar problems and used other solutions like:
Change the order of fastboot flash;
Use Multitool-unbrick
Flash TWRP and oficial recovery with multitool but none worked
Remove sim tray
Connect fastboot to Hisuite, but the PC detects the phone, as it plays a sound, but the Hisuite says no phone is connected
Right now my phone is on at fastboot, because I cant even turn it off. It just restarts, vibes, shows Honor screen and restarts after a few seconds.
I really appreciate any help on this.
Hi!
I had a similar problem once. This was due to a bad recovery and boot partition flashed. You need to flash recovery.img and boot.img extracted from the update.zip from B170 (or B180?) update file.
In my case I was only able to access fastboot but not forced update with update.app (by holding VOL + and -) because the recovery wasn't good. If it's also your case, my solution above must be it.

Thanks a million, it worked oddly since I flash, like you said, recovery and boot from B170, but firmware version is B121.
Now it wont manual update to B313 or B121 or even have any OTA...
Is it because I have a unlocked bootloader ?
Edit: made a restore factory defaults with clean internal memory and reflashed B121 through update (local) menu. It now acknowledges B170 OTA. Urrraayyyy
Next step: re-lock bootloader?
Edit: Bootloader relocked using this post.

Hi !
A few months ago I unlocked my bootloader in order to root the phone. Last month I decided that I no longer needed root, so I flashed stock recovery and stock ROM. I updated yesterday to B180 without problem. You don't need to re-lock bootloader. It can stay unlocked without affecting the phone behaviour.

Hi Zinko
It seems to me you have a great experience fixing that type of problem, please share with me as well,I have Huawei Mate 7 and it's rebooting only after trying to upgrade to Marshmallow.
As Sideness said for sure it's due to a bad recovery and boot partition flashed. In my case it's most probably "boot partition".

God thank you so much, 4 days i'm struggling with my Honor and now i flash the boot and recovery from the 170 update and IT BOOTS !
Thank you so much.
Now i just had to update to 170 (i was in 121) via OTA and the updates starts and ends properly (first time in big time).
Main thing to understand is that you don't need a matching system.img, just an proper boot and recovery to flash. (if anyone is bricked to hell just like i was)

I guess if you try to update from B170 to B313 it will mess the recovery.
To fix this, it is required to re-flash the recovery from B170, AND THEN go back to B121. After that it is up to you to go through B140 and jump to B313 or follow the Lollipop path until B180.
Im stuck with the same issue. I had trwp + root installed, the 180 update came, i derooted the device, installed 313 official recovery- rebooted- and installed the update. After this the phone would not boot again.
I have tried everything, and if i choose the B170 recovery from multi tool, i come to the "Huawei software installing" but it stops at 90%.... What can i do to fix this? are there any way to flash a stock rom with TWRP?

Flash a complete B121 and then go all the way untill B180. The updates will show automatically, as you will have only to choose to update.

Did you flash stock recovery or still have twrp? Am not sure whether it plays a role or not?
Try to update couple of times, some users reported that trying multiple times makes it work sometimes...

Just use huawei update extractor to extract recovery.img from the stock firmware B180.

Yep, flashing recovery, boot and system does not have any effect on user apps.
System apps will be restored to their original state but your data and user apps remain the same. Did it multiple times.
Still, keeping a backup is always a good idea.

thnx i will try it later or tomorrow
You'll definitely need the recovery for the firmware your running, so if u got b180 you'll need b180 recovery and then b371 UPDATE.APP
i have it. and it started to flash so it could be system partition. but i dont remeber that i changed something there
oh i got it
1. recovery
2.recovery2
3.boot
4. system
images restored
then the update OTA restarted?
running!

[Honor 5x KIW-L21] Bricked

Hello! Some day i want to downgrade my Marshmallow to Lollipop. I installed stock ROM to my Honor 5X but in older android - Lollipop 5.1. And I get bricked it. On start on screen i can see first-step logo honor after it i can see second-step honor's logo and here i wait 30 minutes and nothing 45 minutes and nothing. Worse is this I can't back to my stock Marshmallow, when I'm installing my previous ROM - MM i get the same brick on second-step logo. I installed a few more ROMs and nothing. My bootloader is unlocked but when i try to flash cust/system by fastboot appear an error. FAILED (remote: Command not allowed). I think i tried everything, thank for help me.
PS. Sorry for bad English :/
EDIT.1 I tried to use this method from Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5x/help/ive-bricked-honor-5x-t3324225. But the same problem at fastboot.
cust and system won't get flashed on 5X, try force updating it with an UPDATE.APP package for your device.
Put it inside dload folder in root of the Sdcard, and press all three buttons (Vol UP + Vol DOWN + Power) after switching off your phone, to start updating.

Thank you. But i tried to get ROM back by UPDATE.APP and when i want to go back to Marshmallow i get second-step honor logo and nothing after it. When i want to get Lollipop i have error "Software can't be installed" - something like that. I heard something about "Transition package" or "Downgrade Package" ? Maybe it can be work. But i can't find those packages for honor 5x KIW-L21.

If the Marshmallow update went through a bit, then you'll need transition package, so take on some pain to find it. It should be out there somewhere.

That's maybe becouse i don't remove ROOT and Xposed before installing ROM, how to unroot by TWRP?

If you use the this version of TWRP > https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24588212152305793
you can flash system.img and cust.img extracted from your Update.APP with HuaweiUpdateExtractor
fastboot boot twrp.img
then copy the files to the phone
then choose Install / Install Image / system.img or cust.img or recovery.img boot.img ..you choose
Also just saying your have a L21 does not help
is it KIW-L21 C432 or KIW-L21 C185
Now i backed to B130 and i have loop with message Optimizing system... this process going to 100% and phone reboot. And it looping.

your post tells us nothing about what you did, are we suppose to guess ?
if you successfully flashed System.img - boot .img - cust.img and recovery.img you can now use the dload / Update.app

Ok, one more time. When i'm installing any ROM B130 or B330, stock or official doesn't matter, the same problem. After installing rom by UPDATE.APP my phone booting and booting and booting and nothing. When i'm installing rom images by TWRP - boot, cust, system It's the same problem Booting, booting and nothing. When i tried to flash rom by fastboot i have error: FAILED (remote: Command not allowed). I would like to try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5x/help/how-restore-cust-partition-t3356769 But i don't know how to access to adb shell: when i type "adb shell" in cmd where i have adb it say to me: error: device '(null)' not found. I don't know what to do more.
How much time honor 5x system is installing?
How i can check my honor is KIW-L21 C432 or KIW-L21 C185?

If you tried to install the wrong Update.app the updater would get to 5% and stop and eventually just reboot. Did you actually watch the update go to 100% and reboot ?
I think i found source of my problem. When i want to downgrade my system was B340.
I read something about downgrade. Without Transition Package I can't downgrade my system I can install only the same (B340) or higher.
This making brick when i'm installing B330 or B140.
Now i'm trying to install OTA B340 and i have another problem,
when i have B330 and installing B340 by small OTA 124MB I have stuck on 5% of installing. It becouse:
EDIT 2 : If you come from B330, don't try to flash the small B340 update as local update has simply been disabled by theHuawei/Honor devs !
Worse, with B340 you won't be able to downgrade to any lower version : at least not easily... INFO FROM: HERE
Click to collapse
But when i'm installing B130 by TWRP and upgrading to B340 by big upgrade (1,36GB) it's stucking on 0% and i get info: DO NOT UNPLUG....
I think that becouse my version isn't B130 only B140. I'm checking it by DC-UNLOCKER. Output from it:
Code:
Found Phone : KIW-L21
Model : Huawei phone in fastboot mode
Serial NR. : My Serial
Firmware : KIW-L21C432B140
FB LockState: LOCKED
widevine LockState: UNLOCKED

Root State: ROOT
Bootloader WidevineKey: WidevineKey_VALID
System State: Bootloader in UNLOCKED state
Bootloader Version: 001.001.000
Battery state: battery is present
Maybe I should Restore backup from diffrent KIW-L21 by TWRP?

Normally restoring a TWRP backup is no different than flashing System.img and boot.img
your bootloop is firmware related ... you need the full B340 package

Mate 10 ALP-L29 bricked

Hi everybody,
I was on rooted and rebranded ALP-L29C432B148 (before rebranding it was L29C636 as far as I remember) and wanted to go back to Stock. I flashed the ALP-L09C432B149 firmwarefrom this thread
https://www.android-hilfe.de/forum/...nstall-stock-rom-mate10-mate10pro.882911.html
and then after sucessful flashing the buld-nr. showed ""System 8.0.0.046 (0FTC)". To get the correct buoild-nr and to be able to receive ota updates I wanted to rebrand again and install the ALP-L09C432B148 from this thread
https://www.android-hilfe.de/forum/...jeder-version-zum-alp-l09-l29c432.882774.html
again to use the rebrand mod again. This wasn't successful as the firmware install failed. After that I couldn't install any firmware (neither B149 nor B148). If I install twrp-alp-firedance it shows only the twrp startscreen, but I can't access twrp.
Further more I'm not able any more to push any files to the phone, it fails with "adc couldn't create file..Is a directory" Flashing files via adb works.
What can I do now to get back a working system with stock rom?
Thank you very much in advance for your help!

Huawei Mate 20 Pro Emui 11 beta downgrade

Hi all! My device is LYA-L29 C432.
Is there a way to downgrade from 11.0.0.118 beta back to 10.1.x.xxx? I have tried using HiSuite but on the update tab the update to older versions never shows up. I have also tried downloading multiple LYA-L29 C432 full OTA 10.1 packages and extracting UPDATE.APP file to dload folder on a USB and trying to force update using *#*#2846579#*#* but after the automatic restart it says that update failed. Tried different USB stick. Am I doing something wrong?
Can you please help?
I always thinked that leaving the project from beta app has as conseguence the downgrade to previous version
