6.0 update? - Sony Xperia M4 Aqua

I had an Xperia Z, on 5.0 and had issues with phone restarting when data was on/locked.
Once I got 5.1.1 on it, the issue went away. Now my M4aqua does the same thing on 5.0
Do you think it will be updated by end of year? Heard something about that.
Also the issue only happens in a certain place, I need to be in for a while. Kind of annoying that only happens in one place.
Also I have the "E2306" model. What version do I flash via flashtool to get firmware updates and keep lte. Flashtool has a bunch of different versions.

I think it will come in 2016

I can have the phone on and be using it normally.
I lock it and put in my pocket.
When I go to take it out sometimes it will be at boot-up screen or it will be at home screen.(since it restarted itself)
Get pretty hot too.
Weird thing is that it only happens in this specific location.
I can have data on all day and have no heat or restarting issues.
My guess is that i'm a little too far away from tower and data goes crazy?
It's fixed on 5.1.1

Hi,
After installing new update "G925IDVU1BOE3" from Samsung, am not getting any issues and battery backup is also good compared to earlier times when I was on OD2.
Hope this helps.

no i was on stock when i bought it and moved to a custom rom a few weeks ago and on my Verizon Edge i can not recall ever having a reboot on either of them. not saying it never happened but i dont recall it happening.
i also read about people having rotation issues and have not had that issue either so maybe i am lucky.
if Cell Standby would use less battery and reception improve a little it would almost be perfect.
I am on the 3 UK branded firmware and I get occasional reboots and also occasional freezes.
It is very annoying.
I am going to flash the unbranded UK firmware for my edge and see if it makes a difference.
Please Let me know how it goes. .those sudden reboots drive me crazy
Ps i cant remember that i had those reboots before the update.

You haven't even mentioned which firmware you are on, or which you were on previously. Are you using a G925F/T/I/W8/D/P/D4/0? With only saying "I have random reboots" you say as much as "I have a problem". And that isn't much, at least not enough to provide any constructive help..
Did you root? Did you change anything? Any information please Otherwise it will be hard/impossible to really help with it

There is or at least was. I flashed it onto my edge and it was fine, but I have gone back to 3 UK firmware to take advantage of their new 'volte' (I think it's called) service.

What that "volte" does?
It uses a different frequency to make signals go further.
Supposed to help fill in the areas where the signal is poor or no signal.

Update made screen unresponsive.

Hi,
My Z4 just asked to update the ROM, and afterwards, the screen has areas that are no longer touch sensitive.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
Thanks for any ideas!
Jim
Have you tried rebooting, then opening the Diagnostics app and running the touch screen test? If there are still dead spots showing in the test, you might want to flag it to Sony support.
I'm not certain if it's a software or hardware issue, but I have found both pre and post-update, that the touchscreen occasionally becomes less responsive, to the point that trying to use a drag gesture doesn't work without the touch dropping out. This happens every couple of days, and I suspect it's to do with throttling as it coincides with very sluggish performance. Seems to resolve itself when left for a few minutes, or a reboot.
Yes! I thought it was just me. I have a tempered glass screen protector and removed it to confirm whether it was causing the issues. Also ran the diagnostics which ran just fine.
It seems to be perfectly fine after a reboot and then the longer you go the worse it gets.
Hoping that this is fixed in the 5.1.1 update whenever that happens.
The conditions that this occurs does seem extremely sporadic. After playing Star Wars Uprising for ~45 minutes yesterday morning, the touch screen failed to recognise any swipes or taps, to the point I had to force a restart with the power button to exit the game. After leaving the Z4 for 15 minutes, no issues at all.
Last night I managed to play the same game for over 90 minutes, and today for another 90 minutes with no problems at all.
I'm starting to think that it could be performance throttling, alternatively I have noticed the screen getting particularly warm above where the SOC sits. Could this temperature be affecting the screen sensitivity? Using CPU-Z I have found some of the sensors reporting around 70C, battery around 35C, though this is after running intensive games. I'm unsure if the upper temperature is normal for this type of chip or not.

I have the very same problem:
Tempered glass from IVSO and the original case from Sony.
Since the update the touchscreen is VERY unresponsive.
I removed the case (!) and it got better (seriously, WTF?).
Does it mean to remove the tempered glass will solve the problem?
But it was fine before upgrade to 251. Sony sucks...

I reset to factory settings, and that may have cleared it up... but I'm not positive.
I'll update this thread when I play with it some more.
Did anyone have success with removing the screen protector?
OK - I can confirm that a factory reset after the upgrade does not solve the problem. My tablet cannot pass the touch screen diagnostic.

I removed the case, not the screen protector.
But some issues are left, so i hope for the next FW-Update...
An update:
I reached out to Sony's support group. They suggested downloading the PC companion app and having it reflash the .251. This does a factory reset.
This made the touchscreen response significantly worse.
My next step is to see if they will let me downgrade to the previous release, because the tablet was working flawlessly on that release.
Sony support says you can't downgrade to the previous rom. I found flashtool, but can't find the old rom to flash onto the tablet. Still looking...
Noticed the same thing after the update.. Hoping for a fix soon as it was flawless before the update.
Now simply browsing is annoying because it either misses swipes or registers them as longer swipes, causing the page I'm trying to read to scroll down super fast as if I flicked it when I actually scrolled slowly. :crying:
There is no update coming. Sony does not acknowledge that the problem exists.
Need more people to post on Sony offical forum, tell them this problem.
I'm hoping the .253 version helps this problem. It doesn't appear to be available for anyone yet.

Here is a complete tutorial about flashing any firmware on your Z4 tablet, even downgrade to an older one.
http://www.xperiablog.net/2015/03/1...peria-lollipop-using-xperifirm-and-flashtool/
I flashed Nordic version of 28.0.A.7.24 firmware and my touchscreen sensitivity is back to normal
If you have any questions about the flashing procedure feel free to ask.
I had this exact problem after updating to 224. Ran the Sony Pc companion program on my windows pc and did a full software restore on my z4. problem solved.

I'm not sure whether is it because of root or Xposed, but after doing a factory reset, the touchscreen seems a bit more responsive. It is after rooting or installing xposed that the problem comes back up.

Ah, I also have intermittent touch problems. Until now I kept thinking it's because my finger is too cold or something, but I have it since upgrading to .224 also. Rooted and running Xposed v.85.1.

Yea, I kinda think it's either because of root or Xposed that's interfering with the touch sensors. But I'm kinda leaning onto to Xposed that's causing the problem.

"Use sRGB" resets with every reboot on Android Nougat

For those of us who hate the over saturated color of the Nexus 6P, and got the sRGB mode turned on, I have bad news. I'm testing the latest Nougat, and I found that the setting resets with every reboot. Only a mild inconvenience, but I wish there was a way of making it permanent. Are you guys experiencing the same?

I've been experiencing this issue on Marshmallow too. I just got used to turning it on after a reboot. Then again, I rarely reboot these days. AFAIK, there's no solution.

Yes I'm experiencing the same thing but it's not a new "bug" for me. Ever since I got the phone on Marshmallow it's been doing this.
Been happening ever since I got the phone on release, nothing new. Was happening during N beta as well, have reported it several times in both M and N but they don't seem to care.
Can it be set to auto start with tasker?

I didn't have the problem with Marshmallow but anyway there was a method to avoid it (not using secure boot), this method here with 7.0 doesn't work - I tried that too.
It was like this before, it's not a bug actually, just standard behaviour.

Not it wasn't for me and many others. I didn't have the same problem before.
I read somewhere that was related to the fact that the phone is encrypted. If you don't use secure boot then that sticks. That was the same in Marshmallow.
Even unencrypted it has never stuck for me.
It sticks, just don't open the developer options everytime you reboot otherwise it will be reset.

This worked for me on Marshmallow, but not now on Nougat.
I don't know if I did anything to fix this in marshmallow. But I had no problem with sRGB on M. Ever since I got Nougat, it's back to Developers Options after every dang boot. It's getting old. I just installed the September update and it's not been fixed.

I've had to do this since I got the phone when it was released so I'm used to it. I didn't even realize that some people were actually getting the setting to stick after reboots on Marshmallow.
Why is it so hard for Google to just release screen profiles ? :/ Let us have the option tucked under display options !

Note 8 still hasn't received Oreo update

This seems way passed overdue. I've tried manually updating with no luck. Has anyone else been experiencing the same issue?

Yes. No update for me either. I heard it's possible the date your imei was activated could impact your update. I activated mine on Feb 14th.

Temporarly on Hold.
T-Mobile stopped the OTA Oreo update right now for Note 8. This is due to problems with this update. Samsung and Google are working on a fix. Once they fixed the problems then they will resume OTA Oreo update for the Note 8.
I posted this in another thread days ago. If you have questions or you feel there is no problem, since you didn't have any problems this far, then read my post on the other thread.

I charge my phone using the 2.0 amp wireless charger (I have a few scattered around) and I haven't noticed ANY heat change. In fact, I'd say the phone is cooler if anything. When I tried to update to Oreo by connecting to the computer (Smartswitch), I got Error 807******(don't remember) repeatedly, so I gave up and updated OTA.
I got tired of waiting and updated to Oreo via Odin. Haven't noticed any major issues.
I think T-Mobile stopped the OTA update because of battery life. I received the update on April 2nd and battery life is pretty bad for me. I only get 3Hrs 45min screen on time. Deleted a lot of apps that I don't use but didn't help much only get 4hrs screen on time. I also had to turn off Always on Display which I hate to do because I was use to looking at the screen without unlocking the phone.

Sorry ive posted on like 3 different forums I should have specified. The taps at the top aren't me they're ghost touches which is the issue. I turned on taps so I could see where they were.
In that case I can't see any issues on the file you uploaded. Can you be more specific?

So basically I try to use my phone and what you see in the video happens. The notification centre scrolls up and down and I can't do anything. What makes me sure its software related is that if I lock and then unlock my phone it goes back to normal for 10-30 seconds before it starts again. Sorry if im not making sense
Well if you have touch sensitivity on disable it. Other than that dont downgrade to an older ROM you will brick the device because this is the only update right now that is on the 8th bootloader. All the other firmwares are on the 7th or older
I have experienced the same problem today where I was using my phome just fine but suddenly the notification menu drop down, I swiped it up but it again dropped down.. it kept happening.. the back key wasnt helping much other.. I locked and then unlocked the phone and its fine since then..
I have S9+ Exynos with April update
