Hi, I'm fairly new to this rooting business -- but successfully did so with a Huawei G300 (CM10.1-R3) ; now wish to explore doing so with my Huawei U8652 -- but there're not the same "easy" guides as there are with the G300
BUT
have used ROM Manager to install CWM on the phone after having rooted it -- but the version ROM Manager installed was 4.0.1.5
--
the latest version mentioned in discussions I've seen of upgrading the ROM on this phone is 5.2.7
for the G300 I downloaded 6.0.2 -- which isn't without its problems it seems (seems to interfere with Google Now, though I'm too much of a newbie to say why this could be -- I'm not the only one with the problem however, going by the posts on the CM site
the procedure for rooting and installing a new ROM on the G300 installed 6.0.1 initially, which I upgraded to 6.0.2 by flashing zip file - that earlier version isn't without its probs either -- OTA upgrades don't work properly, but Google Now seems NOT to be interfered with at least
could I
go through the procedure for the G300, from the stage where it installs the bootloader and CWM?
install the newer version despite its problems with Google Now?
are these versions "compatible" with the Huawei 8652?
install some other version -- I've found links to 5.2 but none of the links seem to work
There is no such universal CWM.
Cheers.
Sent from my Sony Xperia Ray Smartphone.
thanks -- what I was afraid of, but ...

thanks for the prompt reply -- that's what I was afraid, and it sure pays to be careful
speaking of which, sometimes you have to take a punt
don't know what it's reputation is like, but I've found what appears to be a listing of relevant files' links to storage sites FileCrop -- though it's hard to know exact details of what they are just from an abbreviated name, and the names don't really link on Google to any discussion of them
Sheesh!!
thanks again
Sorry folks if this is already somewhere here but i have not found it after already a few days of browsing.
I am looking for a lightweight (dont really care if vibeui, aosp, etc), stable (daily usage), fully working ROM (no problems with led notif, compass, etc), preferably 4.4.2. KitKat for chinese version of Lenovo P780 manufactured after 03/2014 and all other tools (custom recovery etc). What is essential, that i need to repartition the internal memory for maximum space for apps.
My current is 4.2.1 P780_S136_140306 , baseband : P780.V16, 2013/07/03 17:08 , i have a dtae on battery 140410 and 2014/05 on box. From what i gather this is a new 2014 version and on this one you should use ROMs based on 4.4 KitKat ??
So far i have found only two ROMs suitable, but not all criteria are met:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p780/development/slx-rom-lenovo-p780-t2722775 - based on 4.2 JB, so probably not working on new version ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p780/development/alice-project-lenovo-p780-android-4-4-3-t2983584 - default memory partitioning
Any other suggestions ?
Is there any repartition script working for CN version (AromaFM working for CN version?), specifically for 03/2014+ version -- ?
So far i have found out for any flashing via SP Flash tools i need to use modified preloader http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2934284&d=1410527296 -- check
I did not found any custom recovery specifically mentioning this new version, but it looks like recoveries working ok for this new version -- ? http://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p780/development/recovery-multiple-recoveries-lenovo-t2962970
is there any specific version of SPFlash Tool and drivers to be used for this new version -- ? - i guess not but just to be sure, which are best to be used
Any modems to be flashed after flashing ROM (freqs in my country are GSM 900/1800, W-CDMA 1900/2100 ) -- ?
Any more thing i should be aware of ?

Hi. Did you try to OTA update your ROM? This could be the best ROM for you.
Or you can flash any rom here with flash tool, but do not forget to change preloader. For zip files there is no problem with the preloader because zip files are using the existing one.
Custom recoveryes you can find in Clarliv post i tested there one and is for China ROM VIBE UI 2.0. What can i tell: it is working.
SP Flash Tool for Lenovo P780 you will find in my post Rooting Tutorial for KITKAT. DO NOT USE OTHER.
For modems you have my post How about some modems.

OTA updates are failing on my ROM , i guess they were disabled on purpose by the seller. Tried to repartition with http://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p780/general/p780-repartition-storage-t2668744 but its not working.
Flashed back stock rom via FlashTools and i tried SLX ROM for CN version http://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p780/development/slx-rom-lenovo-p780-t2722775 , but it always says that the PhoneStorage/SD card is damaged and you cant install any apps.
I have also tried latest official VIBEUI 2.0 (from here http://bbs.lenovo.com/vibeui-fabu/t542102/ in chinese ). It is actually pretty good and nice (only if thay used a stock app drawer and not the one like MIUI/iOS). But it leaves even less internal storage. And it does not have GAPPS and i was unsuccesfull to install these http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942 (it said insufficient memory to install, although there was 1GB free on internal memory, propably a small system partition ??). I tried pico and nano.
-Actually if i was able to repartition for max memory and install GAPPS this will be a good option.
As for the recoveries i can confirm CWM based from Carliv's post works with this 2014 version. I will update his thread later.
I will try next the Alice project ROM.
Also i have a idea to use g00dvin's ROM http://lenovo-forums.ru/topic/6863-lenovo-p780-... for repartition and then flash official VIBEUI via recovery, if that will leave the partitions intact. And try different GAPPS if i will be able to install them
Modems will be last thing to mess with

This guide is intended to be used for people who want to upgrade their Android experience. This process could be dangerous. Please follow instructions, and if in doubt, stop, and ask here. No one wants their phone bricked*.
"For quite a while you are using your LG G2 mini. You like the simplicity of Android 4.4/5.0.2 and you think LG did a good job on the UI. You live you life happily with the phone. But after a while you feel something is missing. you want more.
You googled "How to make my device awesome again" and you saw difficult terms, such as root, flashing, recovery and bootloader. You didn't know what they meant, but you knew you have to understand these terms and apply them to make your phone awesome again."
The steps to make your phone awesome again are fairly simple:
perform these steps in order from top to bottom. Do not skip any.
--Rooting--
"Yes... I remember seeing this term.. I vaguely remember something related to permissions.. but I am not totally sure what this means."
Root - The root directory of your phone. The home directory for all your important system files.
Rooting - Normally, you don't have access to this directory, since the manufacturer doesn't want you to mess with it. Rooting means you will give yourself access to this directory. Why do you want access to this directory? Because later on we will need access to it to change some files.
Most common question asked is: will this void my warranty? YES
How to Gain Root Access
Android 4.4
There are a few methods to try. If one fails, you will continue until you succeed.
Method 1
1. Go to this link
2. Click on the big lambda in the middle of the page ( ? )
3. Install the app on your phone
4. Run the app and tap on "make it rain"
5. Your phone will reboot
6. Download SuperSU from here. This app is a root access management tool, and it allows you to give certain apps root permissions.
7. The app might ask you to "update binaries". If so, let it update.
Optional: Install this app to make sure you have root access.
Method 2
Go to this link and follow the instructions.
Android 5.0.1
There is only one method for rooting on this version.
Method 1
1. Go to this link and follow the instructions
--Unlock Bootloader--
"Bootloader.... is that a machine that loads boots?"
Bootloader - Code that is executed before any Operating System starts to run. A bootloader is usually locked on an Android device because although it’s an open source OS, still the manufacturers want you to stick to their Android OS version specifically designed for the device. In order to apply this concept, manufacturers lock the bootloader. With a locked bootloader on Android devices, it is virtually impossible to flash a Custom ROM.
Most common question asked is: why do I need to unlock my bootloader? Unlocking the bootloader allows you to install custom Firmware on your Android phone.
How to Unlock the Bootloader
It is advised to be on Android 5.0.2 to unlock bootloader.

--Custom recovery--
"After reading so much I think I need to be recovered myself!"
Recovery - Software that can be used to restore the device to factory default settings, update its operating system, and perform other diagnostic tasks. A custom recovery is a third-party recovery environment. Flashing this recovery environment onto your device replaces the default, stock recovery environment with a third-party, customized recovery environment. A custom recovery environment will do the same things as the stock Android recovery. However, it will also have additional features. Custom recoveries often have the ability to create and restore device backups.
TWRP - Team Work Recovery Project is the most common custom recovery out there. It is highly advised to use it, since other recoveries made for this device are old and unstable.
Most common question asked is: why would I want to use a custom recovery? Custom recoveries allow you to install custom software such as ROMs and kernels.
How to Flash a Custom Recovery
1. If you already have a custom recovery, enter it and flash the new recovery zip.
2. If not, download and install THIS app and flash though it the recovery zip. Then you'll be able to enter the custom recovery.
All Android Versions
There are several versions of TWRP. It is recommended to use the latest version, though using an older version won't hurt.
1. Go to HERE for Twrp 3.0.2.0
2. Go to HERE for TWRP 2.8.7.0
--Custom Rom--
"That was it? It was so easy!"
Rom - stands for “read-only memory.” A custom ROM replaces your device’s Android operating system — normally stored in read-only memory — with a new version of the Android operating system. Custom roms usually have added features not available in stock Android.
Most common question asked is: why would I want to use a custom ROM? Read THIS article.
I'm sorry for any left out roms. A lot are old and not updated or contain bugs. An updated list of them can be found at all time in the "Android Development" section.
How to Flash a Custom Rom
1. Download a custom rom to your sd-card.
2. Enter twrp recovery.
3. Make a backup of system, data, boot and cache.
4. Flash the custom rom.
5. Optional: flash Gapps.
6. Reboot to system.

--Custom Kernel--
"I'm going deeper... so deep, I'm almost at the kernel!"
Kernel - The kernel is the piece of software that bridges the gap between the operating system (and installed apps) and the hardware in the device. Everything you do on your device involves the kernel. Increasing the volume while playing a video? Android doesn’t directly tell the speakers to increase output. Instead, it tells the kernel that it wants to increase the volume, and the kernel talks to the speaker to increase its output.
Most common question asked is: why would I want to use a custom KERNEL? Read THIS article.
How to Flash a Custom Kernel
1. Download a custom kernel to your sd-card.
2. Enter twrp recovery.
3. Make a backup of BOOT
4. Flash the custom kernel
5. Reboot to system.

Please do not quote the whole post.
The LG G2 mini Tegra edition is very different from the other varients. It has a different board and uses other components. Unfortunately, to this day there is no way of unlocking it's bootloader, but even if it could be unlocked, there is no rom development for it. I don't know about rooting it, but from my knowledge, there wasn't ever a serious discussion about rooting it. The main reason is this phone is mostly seen in Latin America, while the rest of the world uses the "normal" version of the phone.

Hi,
I have a LG G2 Mini D620 which is still on KitKat 4.4.2. It never got an OTA update to Lollipop.
It has:
Baseband version: MPSS.DI.2.0.1.c8-00012-M8926DAAAANAZM-1
Build Number: KOT49I.A1404447153
Software version: V10g-EUR-XX
It is rooted.
What I would like to do is upgrade it to at least lollipop. Stock lollipop is fine (custom rom is not a must).
Can you point me in the right direction as to what would be the best way to achieve this?
Regards.
You can find the version you want http://lg-phone-firmware.com/mobile/ and flash it to your phone

Do I need to unlock the bootloader and install custom recovery in order to be able to install the stock lollipop using that flashable zip?

Yes indeed, that will also give you the ability to flash custom ROMs (if you wish to in the future).

I tried different recoveries with different softwares but I always got the same problem.
I solved downgrading to kitkat and following the 4.4 method. I guess something was not working in the rooting procedure..
Hi guys, I have an D620k which is on KitKat. I want to update to Lollipop trough KDZ.

Thanks!

Any should work.
The ones for 'r' are unbranded.

Hi everybody,
I have been trying to install the official MM Android Concept version on my Z5C for a while now, and I can't make it work. I am using the installer found here (I had to use the Windows version on a PC, since the Mac version keeps having some network problems).
The Android Concept Installer sees my Z5C, tells me that there is some Android Concept software available, but when I try to install it, I get the following error: "Firmware version ID not found".
I am using the stock ROM (never unlocked my bootloader). I have tried first installing the .185 German and Swiss customizations before trying to flash the Android Concept ROM, but it does not help (I have a Swiss Z5C, model number E5823)...
Did anybody manage to install it? If yes, could anybody post a FTF file, so that we can flash it with flashtool?
Thanks a lot
That would be because the concept firmware isn't compatible with the Z5...
Ok, thanks... I thought I had read it was supported, it indeed does not seem to be
Hello, I have a new Asus_X550 (the Pegasus 2 Plus), running Android 5.1.1.
Since I bought it in China, there are pieces of it in Chinese, which I don't want. Therefore, I'd like help with *one* of the following, in order of preference (the best being #1)
Can I flash Android 6.* onto it? How? Where can I get a compatible ROM?
Can I flash some other custom ROM? How? I checked, and it doesn't seem to be supported, at least not by CM. I've seen the one article all over the place claiming to do it, but I'm unsure of the legitimacy of the ROM given, esp since the download requires surveys and such.
How can I replace the Chinese app drawer and UI?
Thanks in advance for your help.
1. The are no ROMs with Android 6
2. The are no custom ROMS
3. Obtain a ROOT and you can do this
