NEW TWEAKS!!!!!!!!!! 07/09/15
Hey there guys,
This is my first XDA thread and I am here to share some battery tweaks by my friend @Naman Bhalla. I am using Oneplus 2 rooted on stock rom with unofficial uber Boeffla Kernel by @ZaneZam.
These tweaks will work with all Snapdragon 810 devices. Naman and I and a few fellow Oneplus 2 owners have tested them and our battery life have increased significantly. These tweaks controls the qualcomm power drivers which are poorly messed up. You will need a root explorer like ES File Explorer to edit the files.
Here are the tweaks:
1. sys\module\qpnp_fg\parameters
here you will find 4 files. open the file debug_mask and change the value from 0 to 1 and sense_type from 1 to 0
2. sys\module\qpnp_smbcharger\parameters
here you will find 12 files. open the file vf_adjust_high_threshold and change the value to 99 and vf_adjust_low_threshold to 55.
My screen on time increased from 5h10min average to nearly 7hours. that is almost a 50% increase! The only problem with these tweaks is that it will not stick after a reboot but there are only 4 files to edit and most of them are from the same folder, thus it is not much of a hassle to do that after every reboot. They will also not have any impact on performance and only improve battery life.
Have fun and Enjoy the tweaks!
NEW TWEAKS! 7/09/15
Tweak 1
The file I am uploading now is the a config file to manage the thermals. It is tested ONLY ON BOEFFLA KERNEL so use it at your own risk if you are on other kernels.
The file is located in system\etc.
Steps:
1. Open Boeffla-Config app and go to the MISC 1 tab
2. Change system tweaks to Thermal-Custom
3. replace the file using a root explorer, ES File Explorer recommended
4. Reboot and you are set to go
This will stick after reboot unlike the tweaks before.
Download link for the thermal-engine.config file.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B18V29gXNAaPYm11UEl2Y1JxOXc/view?usp=sharing
Tweak 2
sys\module\qpnp_fg\\parameters\first_est_dump to 1
sys\module\qpnp_fg\parameters\debug_mask to 1
sys\kernel\slab change cpu_slab in all :at folders to 99, cpu_partial to 5, min_partial to 58
thats all for the new tweaks for 7/09/15. Sorry for the slight delay in upload have been busy. Enjoy and post results!
Credits to @Naman Bhalla for providing me with the tweaks

Definitely trying this. What do these parameters control in the QC Power Drivers, exactly?
i'm trying this right now. what settings do you recommend for the Boeffla Config tool?
i'm using this - does that make any sense?

Im using impulse on A53 and ElementalX on A57 with both underclock to 1248MHz and 1344MHz respectively. Before you say thats under powered I play clash of clans with that setting and is as smooth as stock.
I think I might be seeing some improvements already. Edited the files as per tweak instructions, usually got around 6h SOT; 60% battery left atm with almost 3h SOT, would probably equate to somewhere around 7+h SOT. Not bad at all!
Thanks, i will try it.
Any info about this options would be cool.
can someone with a snapdragon 808 device test this as well? maybe it will work

An init.d script that runs on boot would probably be more helpful, I guess you'd still have to flash the zip before every bootup

Not at this moment. Maybe some Developer might see this thread and help us. Developer or person with enough knowledge. And @TheZorg is right you will have to flash it every reboot

The perfect solution would be something like, dunno, implementing the tweaks ROM-side or kernel-side, if they prove to be stable and effective. So far so good though

I would say yes, because this is based on the stock prime ruu. I was under the impression that the Motely kernel is good to go for any stock ROM, so this one should be ok. It won't brick anything, so don't worry about that, try it out and report back. I have the ROM to where you can choose the different performance modes, so I don't know how much the Motley kernel will help, but it could. Let us know.
good to see a new rom on the prime! gonna try for sure within few days, busy atm.
thanks!
Damn I am stuck somewhere with a low bandwith for the month! Can't wait to try something new and Visually awesome
Looks like I'll be the first to actually flash this ROM and give it a whirl . Be back in a few...
Sygic keeps saying "sd card access denied" and that's it. Will not start.
Browser will not download anything at all. Amazon appstore will not download anything at all.
And don't tell me this post isn't about dev. Notice how there's no question mark in this post at all.
Camera doesn't work, just a green screwed up screen. Also gallery photos look blank, weird.
Otherwise the ROM is very fast and smooth. Maybe i had a bad dl...dont see an md5...

What recovery are you using? If anyone else is having this issue, let me know. I want to make sure there aren't any issues for anyone with transfers. I am not having any, but need to know. Also, are you using the wipe option during installation?
Edit: I see one other person with a camera.apk issue. It could be a bad upload also, let me know, folks.

Hello,
Initial starting point for some of my kernel hacking on the G900T. I mostly needed Permissive SELinux support for some other projects, but I will be making some enhancements to this kernel in time as well. However, for the moment please consider this release for engineers only.
SecureStorage must be disabled *before flashing* this (or any) custom kernel. Failure to do so will cause many issues.
Edit /system/build.prop:
Code:
ro.securestorage.support=false
Clear caches and reboot. However, once you do this, you will lose many settings to things like SHealth, possibly wifi credentials, and maybe other system/Samsung apps. Backup and restore with a root app will not work. Do not try it. You'll still be able to use these apps, however, you'll just have to set them up again.
Features
Insecure
Root adbd
Runtime downgrade SELinux (Permissive)
Notes
Includes all features in the stock kernel (exfat, etc.)
Will cause your boot screen to show an SEAndroid warning message upon boot, though you can safely ignore it.
Known issues
None

None as long as long you modify the build.prop as described.
Are there any benefits (that a user would notice) to SELinux being permissive?

Considering you seem to be the only other person working on building a new kernel at the moment, I'm looking to you for some advice.
I'm building my own kernel also (eventually for booting Ubuntu Desktop or Touch on the S5), but I seem to have run into a small glitch. I'm building straight from the ANCD source (no modifications yet), and my kernel boots fine so far. However, USB (MTP) doesn't seem to work with my kernel installed. There may be some other funky things going on also (e.g. some apps that interact with hardware have an extreme lag, WiFi takes longer to become available...), but I haven't fully tested everything yet.
Can you tell me whether you used the provided "build_msm8974pro_kernel.sh" script or not? Either way, can you provide any helpful tips for building this kernel? The last one I built was for Android 4.1 on the S4.
If you don't wish to respond here, please send me a PM. Thanks!

Internation Kernel Bad Idea? Can you add fast Charge?
My only reason I use other kernels is fast charge, im sure that other kernels have benifits, but im one of those modders who likes to stay close to stock. Im actually dieng for a GE s5 for true samsung AOSP, but anyway, i was wondering, i beleive there is any easily applyable *to kernel makers not me* patch by somebody named chad something chad009 i think, that can add a fast charge ability. I miss being able to get 1.9A on wall and 1A on PC.... whats the point in Sammy giving us a nice 2A USB 3.0 charger if they seem to have limited charge to 1A.... Really makes a difference especially since I will be getting Zero Lemon battery, which just FYI is on preorder on amazon for 50$... bit pricey, im gona wait till it comes out and maybe a hyperion model to see if that drives down price, but i wont wait long as they probably know, i miss 7800Mah battery power, s5 does have good battery utilization so far ive found, tho its only been a few days for ! Cheers
Thanks
PS: if I find an internation kernel with FC can I use it? Im pretty sure our hardware is the same, the only difference is Radios, but thats seperate, and Im sure i could find TMOs Radio.

And has Fast Charge been implemented in any of them. Probably my only complaint is forgetting to plug into AC when going to bed, instead of leaving connected to my desktop USB, which is painfully slow on charging.

So,what makes my games lag is thermal throttling. As soon as the phone gets 41C,CPU mhz drops to 800 mhz from 1400mhz,thus making the games lag! This haven't happened before on stock ROMs,but now it does and nothings helps. Is anyone having the same problem and can anyone help me get a rid of this issue? Is there any way to turn that limit off?
On the google play there is an app called samsung dvfs disabler. You need to download it but additionally you need to install xposed framework to make it work and must have rooted phone
Disabling touchwiz dvfs should help with your problem.

Update: Works! Happy than ever!
And remeber not to OC your phone because cpu temp raises a lot of quicker. Its a waste of time from my experience. If you are on the boeffla kernel or any other modifed you can just make some UV it can reduce temps by 1-2 celcius.

Nah,I never liked overclocking and undevolting,ever. Though I'm experienced with that and remember using my phone overclocked. Thanks to my experience,it was running fine. But then I reverted again to stock. I just don't like tweaking my phone's CPU because,I don't know why,but I like to have what I've got out of the box. I feel better with my stock 1400 mhz,even when I know 1600mhz really helps with speeds.
I'm undervolting only on AOSP ROMs to get better battery life (at least as stock) and it helps.

Dear OnePlus Two Users (the Audiophiles of you)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Almost everyone in the android-geek-business has heard of v4a, a Audiomod which "magically" improves your audioquality. Many of you might have faced sadness when realizing that on OOS v4a rather decreases quality instead off improving it. So I made it my personal Project to find a way to make Viper work on OxygenOs.
The idea of this tread is to inform you on my progress and to request files and infos I might need to fix v4a for Oxygen. And also as a central point for collaboration and progress-sharing with others working on the same problem.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Schedule:
- Find the issue
- Find a fix for this issue
- Make a guide for noobs (and geeks too)
- We are there!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thank you all
In build.prop <- but let's better take another look there
Due to something of Maxxaudio
In /system/lib/soundfx or /system/lib64/soundfx
Probably no libs at all [emoji52]
asound or aplay
Probably not in any of the following cofig files
audio_effects.conf
One more you never know
If you want then I looked a bit into it at one point, though for not overly long.
Here's a head start:
=> mm.enable.qcom_parser=3314291 once broke OOS audio for me. Did once, now it doesn't for some reason (it's the value in the CM builds). => However this is unrelated to V4A as for it is not the reason it is broken.
=> Fixing V4A has nothing to do with build.prop
=> V4A is not broken because of MaxxAudio
=> V4A isn't broken because of audio sound effect libraries in lib/soundfx or lib64/soundfx.
=> At least CyanogenMod AudioFX works .
From here on there are not many things to test, the issue might even possibly happen to stem from the kernel. If you want you can try going the unprofessional (kinda really only way since OOS is Closed Source) and that is editing audio system of OOS with CyanogenMod's since it works on CM on our device.
Also the thread title baited me.
Additional head start:
=> It is not aplay or asound.
I highly recommend giving it a shot at editing audio_policy.conf to see if that is the culprit (maybe missing frequency etc.?).
I'll be traveling so I'll be unable to do that later.
I feel that the culprit may have a possibility of residing there.
Go compare it with the CM one and make changes, do these changes work? If no make more changes, keep making changes until audio breaks, if it breaks fix it, go to next line and make more changes.
Thanks @sewer56lol really appreciate your help and yep I already thought of audio_policy.cond being the issue. Right now I am trying to replace some files (including this one) with their cm version just to see what happens
It doesn't seem to be audio_policy so far... The only thing I achieved by completly replacing it with the one from cm is a "Nightcore"-Effect, everything is sped up to double speed (could fix that but don't see any need for it). The distortion we get from v4a stay the same.
Will still gonna take another look on the audio_policy.conf file...
What I have been thinking now is: As far as i know dolby dap is integrated in background (according to audio_effects.conf) dunno if this might play a role here.
EDIT: Interesting... Now nightcore effect is away as long as I don't enable v4a... (Or occasionally in some random moments)
i tried replacing various .conf files in various places, i did not work.
i wonder, will flashing a cm kernel on an oos rom brick it? if not, it might be a good idea to try and see if v4a works.
Thank you so much! Used to use your kernel back when I had OP3T and was just an xda lurker
Curious to see what made the initial release as far as features. Flashing now...
Would u say focus on performance or battery life or both ???
Xceed does not focus on anything the project aims to be just simple, stable and easy to use (Flash and Forget principle) but there's always surprises..
EDIT: we're looking for an active TG crew who can run tests with me, if you feel you're qualified and up to the task then you can PM @ilia1985 for more information about it
Appears to be a good kernel for anyone looking for a flash-and-forget performance oriented kernel. Doesn't have a whole lot of options to fulfill my tweaking addition, but this kernel is not meant for loads of options anyways.
First impressions look pretty good, kernel is extremely responsive, and apps appear to open faster compared to stock kernel (probably due to OC freqs). However I'm noticing my CPU hitting max frequencies & sticking there while playing Train Conductor World, even while idling on the "map". Flashed back to stock kernel to compare and stock kernel does NOT exhibit this behavior.
@kairi bro good to see you here..hope you remember me from Xiaomi mi3 days..you can always count on me..I will try the kernel and let you know the feedback .
comments are always welcome...
But I do hope, before your wrote this up, you could have almost seen a reply from almost every dev here that you can't compare the stock kernel to to almost every kernel (custom), why is that so?? if you have tracked down the commit history it was evident that the Oneplus QOS framework together with some hooks have been removed, furthermore, the shipped opchain module with the source is a bit nit-picky to build, that module controls/moderates frequency behavior..
Glad I can be of service to you here...and happy to see some old patrons!! enjoy the ride..
Finally, the best kernel for OP3 is here for the 5t. Been waiting for this kernel since I bought the phone. Thank you!
Thank you for giving us the best kernel using it since OP3 and i confirm this is the fastest kernel do some benchmark tests you will understand why
Said no OEM ever and what every jealous wannabe says....
And yet for every new phone 1 of the 1st things that leak are benchmarks... Benchmarks are one of deciding factors when buying choosing a phone. It may not say much about real world performance or UI fluidity but bench marks are a measuring tool which help tune/refine software/hardware and your comment above only shows your ignorance.
Would this work on OnePlus 5?
If not will you be releasing an OP5 version?
Your work has always been fantastic.
