Strange Moto E problem. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So my Moto E has this problem when starting up it goes to "Optimizing apps" and loops from there after completion. I have tried clearing cache aswell as a factory reset form the fastboot menu. But nothing has worked, I have now decided to try install CM 12. Problem is since the phone can't get to the homescreen I can access the files from my PC.
So what I want to ask you guys is;
*If you know a fix for my current problem.
*How can I root the phone from fastboot.
*How can I install CM 12 from fastboot.
Thanks in advanced for your help.

Have u installed link2sd in ur phone ? I too experienced the same issue when link2sd app was active. Later I removed SD card partition now its rebooting without any issue (unite2).

I remember installing an app that did the same thing, but not sure if its that specific app. But wouldn't that of been solved when I factory reset the device?

[Q] Installing apps through an apk, HELP!

Recently when I put APK's on my SD Card and try to install them I receive the 'Application not Installed' error. When this happens with market apps it's easy enough to unmount the SD and remount after the install. However if the APK is on the SD how can I do this?
Is there a fix for this? Also if it helps I'm running the Wildpuzzle ROM and the APK I'm trying to install at the moment is Angry Birds (getjar).

Yeah, the application installer shows up, I just receive the error message a few seconds of the scrolling grey progress-style/working bar.
Do you have a USB Cable? Try using "DroidExplorer", an awesome PC client that can directly install apps. Or, try using a File Browser like Root Explorer or Super Manager.
Do you, by chance, have an App2SD Patch? Because I have always found them buggy!
Try to "undo" everything you did up to before it stopped working. Also try formatting your cache partition and/or erasing dalvik cache. Did you do any flashing without making a NANDROID backup first?
Also try "SuperOneClick", there is an option to "Enable Non-Market Apps" for rooted phones.
Second-last resort? Factory reset. Last resort...? Backup all your apps/settings and reflash

Thanks for this. I'm trying Droidexplorer, explorers on the device wont install the apk as it returns the same error.
How long should the installation take. It's been running 15 mins so far, the internal storage has decreased a little but the installing window (on pc) is still up?
I am assuming you have a rooted phone with unrEVOked3 right? Would you happen to have some kind of App2SD patch installed....? Because I always found them unstable.... what firmware are you using? I am loyal to Sunaabh v1.1 (Froyo) Custom Firmware as it is well supported
Hmmm I've encountered that installing loop before. But only when trying to install an APK that wouldn't normally work, such as an older version of the Market or Flash 10.1. It just means it's waiting for ADB server to do something but ADB has obviously crashed. It should not take more than 30 seconds for an APK to install via DroidExplorer. Just unplug your phone and close DroidExplorer.
Does this happen with all APK's? How many have you tried?
Only thing I can think of is that you did something to damage your package.xml data and/or permissions are corrupted.
Did you try formatting your cache partition in Clockworkmod? Please try this, it will not destroy any data. But it will trigger a long reboot - it will appear frozen at the bootup splash screen but just let it go while it rebuilds the cache.
Also try "Clear Data" under Applications > Manage > Market.
Have you flashed anything in clockworkmod? If you can provide more details of exactly what you've done to your phone that might help, but I really doubt it.... I think the only option is to restore from a Nandroid Backup or Reflash Sorry... but these things do happen and we always learn the hard way lol....
You can use the official HTC Sync software to backup your phone numbers and SMS and stuff I believe, and if you want to backup your installed apps you can use Titanium Backup or many other Backup apps on the Market, Free or Paid.
Make into a zip file and flash via recovery

Thanks for everyones help, I now have it sorted!
I started an installation through Droid explorer and then cancelled it when the apk was on the phone.
Then I unmounted my SD
Then I used root explorer to browse to the apk on the phones internal memory
It installed with no worries and I remounted the SD!

Haha, how very odd! Regardless, good to hear you got it sorted
EDIT: If it happens again, maybe you could try to format the SD card. Might be possessed with some bad stuff in the .android_secure folder or something.

Serious issue

Hello, I have to let you know that my knowledge over android is limited.
My (rooted) p500 was working flawlessly.
One day the music app just stopped working. I tried to uninstall it with an unistaller, and try to install it again. It wouldnt install for no reason. Just keeps "installing" and never ends.
Next step was performing full backup with the titanium backup. After that i restored the phone to the factory settings.
And here comes the major problem. Any app i try to intall Just keeps "installing" and never ends. Even from the market or just by running the apk.
I performed several restores to factory setting and it didnt help. I cleared the updates the cashe and the data from the Market app. Didnt help.
Is there any way to bring my phone back to normal?
use AppMonster to do your installs/uninstalls or Astro File Manager. I've experienced this issue with the latest version of titanium backup.
Well at this time my phone is useless. I can't install anything.
Is there a way back?

I'll do it right now.
Well i thing holding down those keys is the same as doing it from the settings.
So yes i did it once again and nothing happened. Still cannot intall a s#!t!
oh boy... it sounds like it's time for an LG Stock ROM flash.

here is the stock ROM:

edited for latest stock rom.
I'll try it also! Thank you!
If its not too late, it might be better to use a lower version ROM as that is V10L. Which I believe is NOT ROOTABLE.

I tried to do the trick but i could make it through the drivers setup. I put the phone in the emergency mode. After that, and seeing that i couldn't got it working. I restarted the phone, did a reset to factory settings. My phone at this time WAS working.
I started installing apps, but after installing 13 of them, it stuck again. From now on it's in the same situation as before, i cannot install any more.
Should i try the trick again?
Try a different sd card.
Do you have custom recovery? If not, install it. And then you can install any custom rom.

What else have you done with your phone?
My phone did something like this before when I tried to force it to directly install everything new to my memory card which was Class 2. I used some command prompt stuff I found on the internet to instruct my phone to shift to SD card.\ storage.
It would be able to install some files and I even remember Angry Birds would install to SD card even before the mod. Then it would stop and hang at the installing screen after a while.
The solution (after a week at the service center) was to get a faster memory card. That's what the guy said. My temporary fix was to install everything to the Internal Memory like it is supposed to, and move them to the SD card using Titanium Backup. But this made some apps move too slowly...

I used an unistaller to unistall the preinstalled music app because it stopped working. When i tried to install it again that was it, it hangs at the installing screen forever.
According to the sd the only thing i used the move2sd, but i didn't use it.
My sd is class 6.
Is it normal that the superuser (root) remains after recovering to the factory settings?
Should i try to reinstall the software by myself or let the lg technicians do it?
Mind-blowing (for me) update.
While using the device without the sd, the apps get installed normally!
WTF?
PS: Should i use the FAT or the FAT32 file system on my sd card?
I used another sd and it seems to work till now.
Finally.
I formatted the sd card (fat32 just as it was before) and now everything works perfect.
The only minor issue is that i cannot install the music.apk
It always fails. I like when it fails, at least it doesnt freeze.
Do you now any way i could install it, or should i get over it and use an other music app?

Yes, you could get over it and try some other app. There's plenty of them on the market. I settled for doubleTwist.

[Q] Restarting after about a minute - help!

So I had a bizarre crash and now continuous rebooting. Let me explain what happened:
A friend messages me on Facebook to tell me his new number. It is highlighted so I click it and the dialer promptly opens and shows the number, and I highlight his number so I can paste it into his contact. When I click the copy button, the phone hangs, and shortly reboots.
I don't worry, these occasional crashes aren't unheard of. But when the phone reboots, it loads up a few widgets and my background before rebooting again. And you can see where this is going.
I figure I glitches some cache so I use vol up, power and home and wipe the cache. I think that fixed it, as I get about a minute then it goes again, and back we go to shorter times.
I'm at a loss to how this has happened. Any quick ideas? I'd like to avoid a factory wipe if I can avoid it.
Update and bump
So, it only occurs when I have my SD card installed???
Anybody know anything about this?
formatting sd card and factory reset helps ...
Trying to avoid factory reset - already used odin to reflash and it did nothing besides ruin my carefully preserved root which I have now restored.
Now I'm exploring whether some weird app has installed to SD card and is playing weird, whilst I scan the SD card for problems.
I did find other threads talking about this issue in ICS:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1446961&page=9
but we shall see...
At this point, I'm sure that Factory and SD wipe would probably work, but I'm now as curious WHY it's happening, perhaps to help others later.
actually its happening with more posts tht i seen ,is wiv ppl using app2sd an movd all apps to sd...the prblm dosnt come if the apps r left were it is instead of moving...
I had the same problem after installing the insecure kernel.my cell started restarting.
Than I flashed a different kernel provided by chainfire. Bingo issue resolved ;-)

Why not use TB to backup all your apps & data then do a factory wipe/reset. Copy your SD card to your PC then format it. Reinstall TB then all your apps & data.

Yes the mount script is not running automatically on boot. Why is this so? Is there any possible workaround?

No any work around found. Tryied all workaround like installing init.d toggler also no use. So i, flash my cm11 backup. Using cm11 now. (between i dont like lollipop visuals and stock rom is no extra features, not even xposed will work so i use cm12 only when arrive)
After flashing Cm11 i found on the Web that in twrp recovery go to advanced and select fix permission and try mounting link2sd but before you do take full nandroid backup.. If brick happens....

I just installed the latest link2sd update. It first shows partition not mounted then shows an error message and shows the option to recreate mount scripts or quick reboot because the mount script is loaded after system startup and after quick reboot second partition is really mounted. I think after every reboot this quick reboot is necessary , but at least its now working.
And apps2sd is working for all the apps.

What partition you using? .,ext2, ext3, ext4,fat32?
Please tell how you mountend step by step
Are you able to link apps?
I think i found the error guys the problem related to lollipop is older version of lollipop.
By version 4.0 this problem vas solved.. .. Anyone plz try and reportback.. ..
It still doesn't automatically mount the second partition. Boots up, shows the error, after quick reboot, it then starts working. I guess init.d scripts aren't working at all. They are not at all mounted at boot no matter what. Tried init.d toggler, enabler and what not, nothing works at all. Problem is with lollipop probably.

I am using ext4 . And yes I can link apps now. I didn't do anything special. Its just like after booting once it needs to quick reboot once again to mount the second partition and then the linked apps appear. Its still not perfect but its working. I would not suggest to link any important apps , I am only linking games and theme apks etc. so that if something goes wrong it doesn't matter.

Thanks but I dont think it's gonna work. Problem is not with permissions, problem is that init.d scripts are simply not run at boot at all and until and unless tht happens, nothing can be done. I used a test script which supposed to run at boot but it simply didn't run. I dont know whats going wrong with lollipop. I hope some senior member throws some light upon this issue and I hope the creator of link2sd is also listening.
[solved]
I confirmed that in lollipop build link2sd v4.0 released yesterday only work..
But one roblem there that after reboot u have to quick reboot everytime. This is I think bug in the init.d of the ROM not the link2sd fault...
It's up to mfn subscribers to report this bug as soon to make sure final build will come buggless........
If I am wrong..correct me.

I tried with ext4.. On thing is after restart dont creat another mount script.. simply go to reboot and chose quick reboot. .. .
But my phone restarts itself outta nowhere in every ROM! There was no Xposed module installed nor any other apps who want root permissions (I installed fresh KitKat 4.4.4 but still)
My main point is, it doesn't soft reboot, which makes all linked apps disappear after booting up. Any fix for this? (My phone was fell on the floor once which made it's screen cracked and I can't hear any audio anymore. I put the new screen but... :/ I don't think it'll be related to all of sudden reboots)

[SOLVED] Cannot flash ROM using TWRP, cannot do anything.

Hello,
I am really new in smartphone modding or whatever it is called and English is not my native language so I may not understand everything, so please don't be angry for me if I ask basic questions, please.
I've tried to install Temasek's Marshmallow ROM and it works but when I boot my phone I cannot download anything from Play Store. So I tried to restart and after I have seen only notification bar and black background, I couldn't do anything. I have rebooted it to recovery and wiped /system /cache /dalvik-cache and /internal storage and tried to flash a ROM again but it did not flash. Now I am in TWRP recovery and if I try to flash ROM "TeamWin" screen shows and it brings me back to main menu. I can't turn off my phone, it shows "No OS installed! Are you sure you wish to power off?" and when I slide it proposes me to install supersu, but whenever I try to install or not anything happens.
I don't know what to do, please help. :c
PS I don't have any backup, I know it's my fault and please don blame me for this. :/

Nevermind, I've actually solved it on my own. When I flashed rom at first there had shown SD Card mode (?) notification, where I could choose if I want my sd card to act as media storage or internal storage. I chose second option and accidentally I've stopped it in half of progress. And after this Play Store didn't work so I did what I did. The problem with flashing rom after wiping was caused by corrupted SD Card, formatting to FAT32 helped.
And btw thank you very much for trying to help.
